Bernardina Ornelas y Mendoza.

Saludos.

This family descends from Gabriel Villalpando and Leonor Sepulveda from Nochistlan, zacatecas. leonor is the daughter of Marcos Sepulveda y Lopez de Elizalde and Mariana Lomelin y Gomez Hurtado de Mendoza
Marcos and Mariana were married 8/jan/1676, Nochistlan , Zacatecas. I do not know Gabriels parents but I do know that they are connected to the Villalpando that settled in modern New Mexico, The Taos area.

I cannot answer for that claim of Alonso Perestorello since I have questioned it from the beginning. They seemed to get started on that route with the mistake that it is two last names written as Peres Torello. It may have orginated that way many years before but I doubt it. The Perstorello family name was originally Pallestrelli in Genoa.

The perestorello family were like the mendozas in that they intermarried over and over again among cousins. In this case it was the perestorello rodriguez and ferriera families intermarrying repeatedly.

You see this among my side of the gutierrez family. My greatgrandfather Emeterio Romo Gutierrez's parents were 2nd cousins and 3rd cousins. The gutierrez romo jimenez gonzalez family of that part of jalos intermarried repeatedly. That is why you see those names repeatedly inSanto toribio's family. Kind of like the martin and barba family, and more recently the alvarez and casillas families.

It continued with my tio Lupe Romo who married maria luisa Romo, the sister of Jorge romo barba the author of a recent history and genealogy book of the Valle de Gpe. . Lupe and Maria Luisa (Guicha) are 2nd cousins. Their children are romo romo or as I call them romo quadrado. romo squared. i thought i would add that since today is square root day, 3/3/09 and I am a math teacher. I really did call them that as a teenager and they took it as an offense though it was said in jest. the comment still comes up in family gatherings.

I remember that I heard as a kid that someone was getting married and an aunt from the valle de Gpe. responded " how dare she marry that man, he is not even family" of course she said this in spanish.

The perestorello family had a jewish background and they tended to marry among those with the same background or at least those that were more tolerant of interculture marriage. This tolerance usually came because you knew that somewhere in your own recent history there is a interculture marriage.

The intolerance of intercultural marriage seems to build up the farther away it is in a persons history or ancestry.

as to the mendoza family chart there is an extensive one, though not anywhere complete (many missing daughters that I have had to add) in that SHARR journal where I originally found this information.

Last year , the same day August 2, 2008 in Guadalajara there was the
first reunion known as the Gutierrada. The families of the Jose Sotero
Gutierrez and Maria de Jesus Romo from el Rancho de la Escondida near
Jalostotitlan had a successful reunion. By coincidence I believe they
are planning their second reunion this year also the same day August 2,
2009 .

Welester,

I still don't know who the parents of Alvaro Carrillo were but I'm working on it. Here is some of the information I found so far:

On page 94 of his book "Fundadores de Nueva Galicia, Guadalajara, Tomo I" Guillermo Garmendia Leal states that Ana Alvarez de Sandi, wife of Hernan Flores de la Torre, was the daughter of Alvaro Carrillo and Maria Alvarez de Sandi. He also says that María Alvarez de Sandi was the daughter of Capt. I also found the record for the wedding of Capt. Lorenzo Alvarez and Agustina de Viera, which took place at the catholic church in Santa Maria de los Lagos March 4, 1585. You can find the record in LDS Film #0221879 Matrimonios 1583-1590 and 1605-1638 Santa María de los Lagos, Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, México.

What puzzles me is that in his final will and testament, filed in Juchipila on 12 October 1645, Hernan Flores declared "Soy casado con Ana de Sandi, hija legitima de Alvaro Carrillo de Sandi, natural de la villa de los Lagos". This statement can be found on page 91 of Garmendia Leal's book.

It seems to me that the correct name for Alvaro Carrillo should be Alvaro Carrillo de Sandi, and that the correct name for his wife should be Maria Alvarez de Viera. I have found many records of people with the compounded surname Carrillo-de-Sandi, including Maria Carrillo de Sandi, born ca. 1600 and married to Juan Marin de Peñaloza from Teocaltiche. And as far as María Alvarez is concerned, she had a brother named Juan Alvarez y Viera who married Beatriz Tostado. They are the originators of the well known Alvarez-Tostado surname from Teocaltiche.

Do you have any information to clear up the name?

Ruben,

That's what makes it so confusing. There is no consistency in the way
people's names were spelled in the XVI and XVII centuries. For example,
Fernando Flores de la Torre is referred to as Hernan or Hernando Flores de
la Torre in most documents, and his wife as Ana Carrillo de Sandi. I am
researching these families and recently discovered important documents about
them in the Archivo Historico del Estado de Jalisco. One of these
documents, which I will transcribe in the future, gives important
information about the early settlers of Santa Maria de los Lagos and the
surrounding area.

The evolution of Spanish from the original Latin is a fascinating topic.
Here is the first page of an interesting article describing the shift in
Spanish from the original Latin "f" to the modern-day silent "h."

http://www.jstor.org/pss/342575

Unfortunately, the link only exposes the first page of the scholarly
article, but it should help people understand why the "confusion." Those
Spanish speakers who know Italian or Portuguese will already be aware of
this evolutionary change, since in large part those languages have retained
the Latin "f," such as in filho (hijo) or farina (harina). When researching
in the transitional centuries, it is probably wise to search for both
possible spellings of names, such as Fernando/Hernan(do), or as this article
suggests, the possibility that the initial consonant was completely dropped
after the f-h shift.

Thank you, Karr. It is interesting to see how Spanish evolved into the
wonderful language it is today. I feel very lucky to have access to the
excellent records kept by the Catholic Church. I visit a local Family
History Center in my hometown every week, and have been through more than
fifty microfilms since I started five years ago. Without them and the
associated online databases I would not have been able to go this far.
Having said that, I must tell you that I find transcription and indexing
errors every day, some bigger than others. For example, I recently reported
an indexing problem to the LDS Library in SLC that I discovered while
visiting Aguascalientes last February. I hope they take action.
Unfortunately, there is no easy mechanism to report errors online. I am a
firm believer that all genealogical information found in books and/or the
internet must be verified. I used to provide navigation quality control
services for the major oil companies, and my motto always was "Trust but
Verify". I apply the same to Genealogy.

Lester,

I have been communicating directly with Arq. José Garza Carrillo. My last email included the following information about Alvaro Carrillo:

Hello Erlinda,

San José de la Islas is in Zacatecas, today. But at certain times it
was considered part of Aguascalientes. They went back and forth. And
the parroquial boundaries also changed. Same is true of many regions
bordering the modern state of Aguascalientes. If I'm not mistaken,
that includes municipalidades like Jalpa, Juchipila, Ojocaliente,
Huejúcar. And earlier, all of the region was considered part of the
jurisdiction of Guadalajara. Also, areas of Aguascalientes were at
certain times part of Zacatecas, Jalisco, or Guadalajara.

On the parroquial level, San José de la Isla was of the
Diocesis of Zacatecas from 1862 to about 1899
Diocesis of Aguascalientes from 1899 to the present.
Diocesis of Guadalajara off and on since about 1850.
Early censuses (1792?) put it in Aguascalientes I think.

Politically, Aguascalientes was a provincia of Jalisco from 1621 to
about 1741, an Alcaldía Mayor in Nueva Galicia about 1742-1786,
1787-1811 a partido with Juchipila of Guadalajara ... Someone with a
better knowledge of history can surely help here.

It is hard to pinpoint the dates of these boundary changes, but I have
attempted to do so using as a reference the Diccionario Geográfico,
Histórico y Biográfico de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos by Antonio
García Cubas, publ 1888-1891 which I have downloaded in its entirety
from COLMEX after unsuccessful attempts to find a copy, and Lyman
Platt's Mexico Political Divisions and Mexico Eccliastical Divisions,
which took me more than a year to track down.

I say, I have attempted to date the boundaries, but I haven't been all
that successful, except to get a general idea of what was where during
different time periods. Frankly, I'm still a little confused, and if
someone corrects me I won't be offended. Then I try to find the places
on Google Earth and discover that there are a great many new places
with the same names as the old ranchos and haciendas, and some of them
you can be pretty sure are the same places and others are impossible
to tell.

I'll look them up tomorrow. A couple of days ago I came across a somewhat similar situation. The marriage was recorded twice within a few records of the first. The only difference was the change in the witnesses, testigos. Someone must have arrived late to the marriage, gotten upset. In your case maybe someone wrote the wrong name and had to re-write the information. I guess we will see, do not assume.

thanks
I had read it in a book and never questioned it. One thing you should never do in genealogy is assume. Always look for primary sources.

I noticed the same thing. as to the surname is was spelled many ways and was italian. Isassi is the most common spelling, or at least the one Jaime holcombe used. He did not have these girls, and elvira listed as children of Nicolas martin del campo and sebastiana Isassi but the records have prven that for elvira and antonia. I still need to check out maria married to antonio Vasquez zermeno but when I saw that I speculated that she could be antonias sister. I share the same thoughts as you do regarding the information we find even in published material that is why i check everything. If Jaime Holcombe, Mariano gonzlez Leal and my tio abuelo Doctor Rito Romo Franco can make mistakes as detail oriented as they are, then we all can and will make mistakes. I have made many and that is why I work so dilligently at correcting mistakes, mine and others. As you have seen I am not the greatest typist and make errors as I type away. I don't bother to correct e-mails but I triple check how I input data. my poor typing has actuallly make some great finds because the people that input data many times misread or mistyped the information when they would input it. Some of my biggest finds have been because I learned to deliberately type in info as if I was misreading or carelessly typing. I learned this when I took someone to the library about 13 years ago and theyknocked into the keyboard and out popped out the information on someone I had been looking hard for for at least 6 months. If they hadn't slapped at the keyboard out of frustration I may have never found that info. It was the last piece of the puzzle in my wives casillas family. The inputter had misread the information. Then I used that as a strategy. That is how I made my breakthrough in my romo line. I assumed that someone had misread the information and went over where I believed they may have made a mistake. I was right. That was when I made my family's connection to Santo Toribio Thanks Bill for all your help ________________________________ From: research-bounces@lists.nuestrosranchos.org on behalf of Bill Figueroa Sent: Thu 2/26/2009 10:06 AM To: research@nuestrosranchos.org Subject: Re: [Nuestros Ranchos] ARAIZA y MEDINA (Bill Figueroa and RickRicci) Rick, Have you seen the actual marriage record? Family Search also lists the marriage of Maria de Yzasi (not Antonia) who married Antonio Vazquez de Zermeño (Sermeño) on 25 May 1681. The strange thing is that they're listed for the SAME DATE AND PLACE (Batch M604181 Source Call 0221512). Was it a double marriage? Were Maria and Antonia sisters or was it a mistake made by the submitter? Apparently, both IGI records originated from the same submitter. To find these records, search for Maria de YZASI, then separately for Antonia de YSAZI. Notice that the surnames are spelled differently. The parents of the groom and bride are provided. I am wary of any information found on Family Search until it is verified against the actual record. I find errors every day. The same goes for some of the information published in books, even those published by distinguished genealogists and historians. Unless, of course, it is backed up with the proper sources. Family Search is a good tool, but should not be trusted blindly. The fact that the same LDS Film No. 221512 is given for both IGI records makes me believe that it was a double marriage for Maria and Antonia. Maybe someone in the group can look up the record. Thank you for the information about Mr. Mariano´s Book. Wish the best for him and a good recovering since the surgery.

Steve y Francisco:

Reunions 2009 -

Hola todos (as)

Prefixes

Good Evening Group: Could someone please explain the 19th Century or "modern" criteria as to how one acquired, maintained, or lost the "Don" and/or "Dona" prefix? Thanks so much, Alice BB

Alice,
Wikipidia has a good summary of the historical and current usage of Don and Dona n several countries, go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_(honorific)
Today, in many Latin American countries the usage is diverse, but most commonly as a sign of respect to elders, clients, or on the basis of socioeconomic or intellectual status. This usage as you will read in Wikipedia, the usage was restricted to nobility. In many records, you will that both male or female would be referred to as Don and Dona, but only when they actually were entitled to the honorific by descent.

Hope this is useful

Jaime

Hello All, Thought I'd put this out again. I got no response the first time and since I'm relatively new to genealogy, I was hoping that someone could shed some light on this. I come across these prefixes so often, I'd like to know who was entitled to use them. Thanks again, Alice BB

That same sort of stuff is on the Sagrada Mitra book because it's in
the official record, so no big deal in those cases. In those days,
lots of people couldn't read so they didn't have the privelege of
trumpeting all the juicy gossip everywhere. We call one person in
this area around here "Channel 5" because like the tv station, she's
the first in "Breaking News." And I think it would be a great idea to
write the documented stories on NR, if Josef permits. Marge:)

Alice,
In today's time it's still used, the Don y Doña. In our family it's a form of respect or for the eleders. Don Jose, Doña Maria etc. Now that we are older the younger generation sometimes refers to us as Don Juan or Doña Alicia.

Many people don't use it and some of us who are old fashioned still do.
I suppose that for archival records it was influential people who were addressed in this manner, people with money, those who were in public office and the elders.

Hope this helps,
Alicia,
San Jose, Calif

Thanks Emilie,

Once again, an opportunity to learn something new.

Because I was raised in the USA and did not have a formal education in the Spanish language, there are many words and phrases that I'm unfamiliar with, and all I can do is give it my best.

I believe that because we are a bi-lingual group, it's important for everyone to be patient, supportive and understanding regarding our shortcomings in either language.

Mariano Gonzales-Leal's new books

Mariano is still working on the next 7 volumes....about 1000 pages per book according to historian Nicolas Anda de Sanchez. Mariano had surgery a few weeks ago and is aiming for a book release around May or June of this year. My cousin is good friends with Nicolas, and Nicolas had spoken with Mariano.

Alessandro, in the past, somebody in the group, mention that Don Mariano Gonzalez Leal was making a new edition that is going to have 8 or 10 books, and that their were going to be finish, the end of november or the begining of december 2008.
I am interested in buy it, I only have Vol I and Vol II.
I ask like you.
Does anyone know is the new edition is ready?
Thanks

I remember last year somebody mentioned about this too, but I also remember it was told that the edition was going to take place on 2009..... I wonder when maybe as many....

Please if somebody knows about this let us know.

I believe Mr Mariano Gonzalez Leal is a member of this group, if so, I hope he answers this matter.

Showing respect...

Viuda and Soltera

Can the terms "viuda" (widow) and "soltera" (spinster, or single woman) be used interchanged? That is, could "soltera" describe a women who is actually a widow?

I have a 1739 death record from Aguascalientes for Josepha Rodrigues where "soltera" is used. Her parents are named, but there is no other information. I also have what may be her husband's (Salvador Ponse) death record from 1738, where it states that he is married to Josepha Rodrigues.

Saludos.

I also know about an unmarried man in Aguascalientes who had two
illegitimate children with the same woman. He is listed as "soltero" in his
burial record. His daughter, who married 10 years after her father's death,
is listed as "hija natural" in "informaciones matrimoniales". Her mother's
name is included in the same record. Her father died single because he
never married her mother.

Family skeletons

Hello Alicia,
Don't know if you remember me, but I met you when I hosted the first So. Cal meeting of Rancho members in my home.  I haven't been able to devote much time to my genealogy searches lately but I try to keep up with the group by reading the postings.  I found your question a very valid one.  I first started by searching my maternal ancestry in 1970.  From the time II was very small my maternal grandmother would often speak of her early days in Mexico.  As a young adult I would often stop by her house after work and she would tell me stories of days passed.  It was then that my interest in my ancestry began.  As the years passed and I began asking questions of my aunts I came across some resistance from a few of the elder aunts.  I thought this very odd since my grandmother had been very candid with me when she spoke of her life.  In fact eight days before her death a video was made of my grandmother as she told her story.  At the age of 92 she

Hello Luis,
As I previously mentioned I've only researched 2 years 1857/1858 on the Aguas, Aguas. pilot site--entry by entry--and I've come across so many last names I've never heard of before, and my mother is from there. Including an entry 10/22/1858 that reads: "en la Calle de la Carcel: hijo legmo. de D.Amacio Martel y Da. Dolly Levy!" Anyway, don't despair. I've been searching for about two years now with no luck locating/connecting my Onate's, Santelice's, Balderrama's, and Candelas, all from the Zacs, Aguas, and Jalisco areas. All very illustrous names, but no connections. Buena suerte, Alice BB

I'm interested how you found this out because I'm in the same situation with my dead end ancestor, Jorge JAIME (de Xaime) "Espanol, nacido de padres no conocidos." I assume that someone knew who his parents were in El Puesto de San Miguel DE LOS ALBA because he's clearly labeled an "Espanol" and also given a (somewhat rare) surname, which doesn't exist in Ags. in that time period when he was baptized...

thanks,
Luis

With knowledge comes responsibility. I personally have chosen to be quiet about things learned that would affect family members who are still living. My information is not gathered to cause pain or split families. The things I've learned from the records of the past are another story, those I will report accurately. I have heard more than once that is was not uncommon for the men of Mexico to have more than one family or to have a family plus a "carida". My Father told me on his vist to Jerez in 1936 his elderly uncle took him to meet his "carida" and told Dad as long as she knew her place and it was never put to his wife and he could afford to support both so it was acceptable. His marriage had been arranged as many were in old Mexico. His marriage was more of a partnership so you wonder if this was the way to find love in those days. I don't think it would have been allowed for women but for the men it seemed to happen many times. I did try
to find the children of this relationship but don't know her name and have to assume the children wer of "father unknown. The secrets that would cause pain to those still living will stay secret for my life time but will be in my records for future generations. Erlinda, I think we look at these hidden secrets as a bad thing. In everyone of our families exist things known and unknown. The one thing I value from things I have learned is that
if these unmentionable things did not happen Me and most of my immediate family would not exist. We, and I mean most of us are actually a MIRACLE. I cannot change the past, but Im glad they happened.

Erlinda,
what about writing information about ones dead great grandparents. my parents are still alive so i would be writing of their grandparents. Is that to soon to reveal information? When you say records in the past are fine, well some one had to reveal that information in their present. If they had not done so we would be running into deadends. I am asking these questions because they are ones that I am struggling with. The stories I wrote in the email are ones that can still hurt yet if they are not written down they are lost for the ages.

In the family that my aunt married into there is an aunt of her husband's who never married, but she had about seven children, even some twins, from as many as four men. My 96 year old aunt knows who the fathers were. The children of these women, cousins to my aunt's husband, are starting to die, and I notice that no father is listed for them in obituaries. I think these children know who their fathers were, but can't list them since these fathers were already married. I have written the names of the fathers in my notes, and I will give that information to one of the descendants in this family that is also doing genealogy, so that someone besides me will have that information. In the trees I have done of this family, I of course do not list the fathers. When I checked the birth records for the children of this woman who bore children from several men, they are listed as "hijo natural".

Rape, incest, murder and intrigue happen in the best of families.Linda in Everett

I am fairly new to this group but really appreciate how much I have
learned already. I enjoyed reading people's reasons why they are doing
their family genealogy. I am doing my own because of the skeletons in our
closest and the weird inaccuracies that have formed because of secrets. By
now family members don't know how they are related, where we come from
(other than just Mexico), and why. We have nearly lost the important
stories of our family. This is of particular importance to me as I have
pursued graduate education. My education has been at times uncomfortable
for family members. I have one family member that likes to say "we come
from people with dirt floors" as a reminder that we were not meant for
much. A very sad message to pass on.

In doing genealogy I have in fact learned that I had family members that
were university educated (one was a lawyer) and were able to enjoy
luxuries. None of these families had dirt floors when they were in Mexico.
It was only when they came to the U.S. during the revolution that they had
to start from nothing. Some succeeded. Some did not.

Knowing where I come from and that I am not swimming upstream but rather
carrying forward the pride and integrity of a successful hard working
family has been deeply meaningful for me.

I have been working on the jauregui even though I do not descend from them My first cousins mother is a Jauregui and i promised her that i would work on her line. I found a great uncle of hers a few years ago living in utah. he was very old and the person that i actually spoke with on the phone was his wife. from her i was able to gather clues to conmtinue my search. What I found was that (in general)the jauregui men, besides having more than one wife at a time, went through many wives because they kept dying on them. I would find a marriage cert, and it would say widowed for 6 months , and then the next one would say widowed for 2 or 3 years. It was really frustrating at first tring to make heads or tails out of some of the information except that every once in a long while I find some little bit of information on the jauregui and continue on. I have found that the Jauregui's from mexticlan,Nochistlan, zapotlanejo, jalostotiltlan, and tepatitlan, are all related to the Jaure
gui of my aunt who are from el valle de gpe
I also found a branch that came up north earlier and were californios.

At the age of 92 she
was very accurate in her facts and very forthcoming of many details of her life. As years have passed many of my "successes" can be directly attributed to information passed on by her in the video. As I've continued my research I have found that it was quite common for the men in the family to have had more than one family with two or more "wives." Such was the case with my grandparents (both paternal & maternal), and perhaps. There were families left in Mexico, and new families established in the United States. These "skeletons" no doubt were the reason for the reluctance of some family members to share memories of the past. It's too bad because regardless of origin, there is so much richness in our family lines. It wasn't until about 10 years ago that I actively started search my paternal side and, unfortunately, the relatives still living have very sketchy memories of their parents and grandparents. Some, on this side too are
reluctant to share information. But, I keep searching. We never know what will be uncovered. Good luck in your searches to all Rancho members.

Richard,

I didn't intend to pry in to sensitive material for anyone......just wondered if this was problematic for anyone else. I know in my family there is a lot of lore that has some truth to it and I've been asked by some family relations "why are you doing this"? Some believe that I'm trying to uncover some dirt and that has never been my intention.

As far as I know there are a couple of other distant family members doing Genealogy but I have yet to meet them in person. Most of the family is intrigued by the findings and how it is that we can trace our ancestry. It has been a pleasure to share what I have with different branches of the family. To see the wonderment in their eyes when they see the actual documents that trace back several generations and to hear them say, no wonder my father or mother used to say, "THIS IS YOUR TIO OR TIA or YOUR COUSIN" but I never knew how they were related to me.

I did find one skeleton but rather than flinch, they were intrigued and wanted to know more about my Ggrandfather's out of wedlock child and where might they find this individual and his descendants.

Thanks Ricci,

The earliest information I have (with many thanks due to Bill Figueroa) is

Thomas Alejo de Villalpando, born about 1650. He married twice: (1) 7 Oct
1677, in Aguascalientes to Maria de Vargas (b. 22 Jan 1646) and (2) 12 Mar 1690,
Ags., to Maria de Jaen (also known as de Sotelo).

children by Maria de Vargas
(1) Antonio, chr 7 Oct 1862, Aguascalientes
(2) Maria, chr 25 Apr 1684
(3) Maria (again), chr 5 Dec 1685
(4) Thomas, chr 29 Mar 1687

Maria de Vargas died 18 Mar 1687

children by Maria de Jaen (de Sotelo)
(1) Juan Manuel, chr 27 Dec 1690
(2) Maria Theresia, chr 10 May 1693
(3) Maria Antonia, chr 4 Apr 1695
(4) Felipa (Sotelo y Villalpando) born abt 1698; married Andres Macias, 3 May
1718, Asientos
(5) Juan Antonio, chr 22 Aug 1701, m. Josefa Flores, 24 Feb 1704, Asientos

(8) Elena Lorensa, b. abt 1710, m. Salbador de Santiago de Escobar, 24 Feb

I have not tried to find the marriages of all the children.

Hopefully this is helpful.

The Thomas who married Maria de Jaen, is not Thomas, chr. 29 Mar 1687. Thomas who married Maria Sotelo could be, but he would have married rather young. Evidence is lacking.

There are also several other Villalpando's in Aguascalientes ion the time period.

Thank you!

Thank you very much for the reply! I had a suspicion that these were all
connected somehow, but did not have anything to prove it. I really appreciate the
help.

My wife's grandmother, Maria Eutiquia Escobar, was born in Aguascalientes. I
do not have a baptism date for her, but she is in the civil records. I am
quite amazed at the quality of the church records from there. Part of what I have
done is posted under my name in the files section of Nuestros Ranchos.

Have you seen the Aguascalientes films posted at the Family Search Pilot? I
have been using this site recently and am quite impressed with it. The images
I've downloaded are of very high quality (typical file size is about 2 Mb).
Occasionally the writing is faint; what I have found is that with image software
I can adjust the contrast, color, and other parameters and improve the
readability. Increased contrast with sepia coloring seems to the best combination.

George,

Thomas Alejo de Villalpando married twice:

1. María de Vargas (aka María de Heredia) on 7 Oct 1677 in Aguascalientes. They had four children, all baptized at Parroquia de la Asunción de Aguascalientes:

i. Antonio chr. 07 Oct 1682 baptized when he was1 month old.
ii. Maria chr. 25 Apr 1684 (22 days old)
iii. Maria (second with that name) chr. 5 Dec 1685
iv. Thomas chr. 29 Mar 1687

María de Vargas died 18 Mar 1687 of childbirth complications, 11 days before the baptism of her fourth child. Thomas de Villalpando remarried three years later at Parroquia de la Asunción.

2. María Ruiz de Esparza (aka María Sotelo, aka María de Jaén) on 12 Mar 1690. She was the daughter of Ignacio Ruiz de Esparza and Elena Sotelo de Jaén, and the great-granddaughter of Lope Ruiz de Esparza and Francisca Gabai. Thomas de Villalpando and María de Jaén had the following six children:

i. Juan Manuel chr. 27 Dec 1690
ii. María Theresa chr. 10 May 1693
iii. María Antonia chr. 04 Apr 1695
iv. Juan Antonio chr. 23 Aug 1701
v. María de la Salud chr. 22 Mar 1704
vi. Francisco Antonio m. Petra de la Candelaria Luévana Contreras 8 Jul 1729 at Ntra. Sra. de Belén, Asientos, Ags.
vii. Felipa m. Andrés Macías 3 May 1718 at Ntra. Sra. de Belén, Asientos, Ags. I believe Andrés was the son of Leonardo Macías García and Juana López de Elizalde.
vii. Elena Lorenza m. Salvador de Santiago Escobar 24 Feb 1727 at Ntra. Sra de Belén, Asientos, Ags. He was the son of Juan de Santiago Escobar and Gertrudis Ruiz de Esparza.

I haven't found baptismal records for Francisco Antonio, Felipa and Elena Lorenza, but I'm still checking LDS Film 299423. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hola Bertha,

New Member-surnames Lara, Guardado in Lagos de Moreno and AguasCalientes

Hello,

I am doing genealogical research--my family comes primarily from the Lagos de Moreno area with many of them being 'indios' from the Pueblo de Moya which is now a neighborhood in present-day Lagos de Moreno. One branch of the family then moved to Aguascalientes from the Lagos area. I've been in touch with an historian in Lagos who believes many of the indios from Pueblo de Moya were Tlaxcala indians from the South who helped in the conquest and I have a little bit of info. regarding the founding of Pueblo de Moya--many who carry my family names but I have not yet made the connection. I have found the name Lara to extensive throughout the area of Jalpas de Canovas, formerly known as Hacienda Jalpas de Canovas, Guanajuato, which at one time was owned by the Braniff family who intermarried into Mexican families. Incidentally, the same Braniff Air line family. My grandmother was a Lara from this area and my grandmother spoke affectionately of Aguascalientes. She told my father what indigenous group she belonged to but he did not remember. My research is in this area and in Arandas, Jal. and Ayotlan, Jal has been on the Cano line.

Hi,
I sent you an email eit the following info based on your gedcom file:
today I found your file on the ancestors of my great great grandmother serapia ramirez perez. I have two questions for you. The first is what evidence do you have of gregorio perez de la torre parents being jose antonio rafael perez-and Maria antonia de la torre. I know that gregorio' parents were rafael perez and maria antonia de la torre but what is the source that it is these two individuals.

The other question is that I believe you have a mistake in your records. There were two juan jose perez franco and I believe that you have mixed up the two. I went to the LDS library to confirm my suspicion by pulling a mariage record. That record backed up my suspicion.I am going to pull another record to confirm the information and then I will send you the corrected information,

I did not see Juana's info in the gedcom file but I did find it here. Juana Ramirez and Prospero Perez are my mom's maternal grandparents.

Thanks Rick

I have confirmed that you have a mix up of the two juan jose Perez.
please email to discuss it
I have also checked on your infomaton on the suazo carmona line. I had only carmona before and I did not understand where you came up with suazo. I originally thought we had conflictinig information, we do not. I understand how the data interacts and have confirmed your information and taken it further in that I had some added information and it all clicks together. I will be taking this line further as soon as I can make a trip to the library.
