Dear Elvira:

Thanks for your comprehension. I believe that I do the better that I can do, but I also believe that I should do a major effort. I use aN orthographic correction for my bad text in English language, but I know that its develop not is the best, the word processor don't do miracles.

I appreciate any comments of the rest of members of this EXCELLENT group, the ranchos group should write with BOLD and CAPITALS letters: RANCHOS GROUP.

José Román,

I agree your english is not perfect (neither is mine ask Marge
Vallazza), but I VERY VERY much agree that it takes tremedous courage
to jump into the middle of a primarily english speaking group and
making an effort like you are doing. I don't make that effort in the
Spanish only groups that are available. I should but don't. My thanks
and encouragement go to you and I hope you continue to communicate with
the group. John Gonzalez is a great member of the group and has helped
me when I needed translation work. The message I send out when people
are applying for group membership was fine tuned and polished by John.
I said all that so you receive his commentary on your english in the
way I know he meant it. . .with the heart of a person that wants to

I would like to help in anyway I can but my Spanish writing is worst
than my spoken Spanish and that means it's pretty bad. Hey you can ask
Marge Vallazza she knows that even my written English is bad as well. I

The Salt Lake City Hispanic Conference will be on Saturday,
Oct 14, 2006.  So far I have 11 people who have expressed an interest in
going.  Mickey Garcia and I are planning to arrive in SLC on Sunday, Oct
8th and stay until the following Sunday, Oct 15th.....anyone who wants to go can
stay as long or as little as they want.....the room rate remains the same for
however number of days you stay.

I wish
I could attend your next meeting in March 2006 but I have to be in Switzerland
for the arrival of my newest grandchild in April.  Mickey and I have
discussed going to one of your gatherings.......one thing about us....we are
always ready to go when it concerns genealogy!  :-)

I will

An Unsolved Mystery

Several members of the LDS church have shared some of the
same experiences with me while I'm at the FHC doing my own research.  They
believe that it is their job to bring their ancestors to their church.
Maybe this influences their visions, dreams...
I do not dream about ancestors that I have not met,
nor do they contact me.  Being a chicken, I'm thankful.
My passion for finding out about my ancestors I
believe comes from my parents and relatives talking about their ancestors:
 funny stories, exploits, etc.
My abuelito would also tell my older primo
Felipe to grab a pen and a notebook and jot down info. about his parents,
grandparents, etc.,  Felipe whom I haven't been in touch with for over
15 yrs., just put together a little velobound booklet on his parent's
ancestors.  Maybe he's working on both of us in a very subtle
way...
I would sit on my abuelito's lap too like Joseph, but I
would bite my lito's nose.  :)  This was
something only I got away with it too.  My

I drafted an agenda for our next meeting in
March 2006.  I can e-mail you that and if you think others would be
interested you can post it to the group.  Overall, I think it turned
out very well.  We had a good turnout and the group may grow.  I've had
others express an interest in attending the next meeting.

absolutely great. . .I only wish I could be close by so I could attend.
Please do get as many as possible to attend. Maybe you all could have
one later just a little further South so that more members could
attend. Or maybe the S. Cal members could get their own meet up going.

how many are going to SLC in 2006? what were the dates again?

although I don't have dreams [well let me back off and say i don't have
dreams i remember, because I don't remember dreams very often] although
i don't have dreams i share the idea that "our relatives" are somehow
helping us. I guess that sounds funny to me as I say it since some part
of me wants to disagree and say I'm being foolish, but another part
believes it. Its almost like a game. With us finding the information
that is freely available and it seems that our relatives are giving us
ear to ear "sonrizas." and then at other times we are discovering the
families "dirty laundry" . . .secrets that had might have stayed hidden
for 200 years only to have us come along and air that laundry out in
Public. At times I feel more comfortable with my genealogy family than
I do with my live family. I gain comfort thinking of the times when I

Thank you Emilie for talking about this subject. I find it
heartwarming that so many group members are willing to share
their 'extra' help in finding the records for our ancestors. People
who don't do genealogy find our passion for finding ancestors
strange. My sister said I am a genealogy addict, I told her I was
just passionate about finding all those who got me here in this day
and time. There are times when I don't get much sleep because of
dreams that ultimately open doors to more lines or names.

In doing records I find it's much easier to find the Spanish
ancestors than the Indio or Mulato lines due to a lack of last names
sometimes. I found that my Espanol ancestor Guadalupe Mendez
married a Mulato woman, Francisca Valencia in 1833. Francisca
haunted my dreams until I decided to pursue her lines. I took her
Rolon ancestor back to about 1660 and found them in and out of
slavery. I was proud when they were free in 1680 and inslaved again
in 1715 with my "love

An Unsolved Mystery.

Hi Emilie:

You are a good question.

The answer to your question is a mystery for to much, but must there is a correct respond. Who have the accurate answer?

The human knowledge is very short to respond some of our question. The live end when we dead?, or the life continue in other way no known for us? Is very interesting that the body of the men not is your life, because any man has a spirit, not is the life of that spirit indestructible? as the spirit of the men not dead, is possible that this spirit in the other world where still alive, need some of us?

You decide what is the accurate answer to your question?

Have a good day.

Several years ago, when I first started doing research on
my family, I was at the FHC library and a member of the LDS Church was helping
me get started.  I had already made several attempts at research by
myself  but could never get good results.....needless to say, I was getting
VERY frustrated!  In fact, I was ready to give up!   Then I
started having dreams about my ancestors and I did not even know them~~!!
You can imagine how that felt!   When I told my friend at the FHC
library about my dreams she looked at me in (what I thought) was a strange
way......I asked her what was wrong and she said "nothing"...... Later, as I was
preparing to leave, she took me aside and explained to me that "she did not know
if I would understand what she was going to tell me, but that she would tell me
anyway."  This statement must have come because I told her that my dreams
sometimes scared me and I did not understand why I was dreaming about
people I did not even know......and this

An Unsolved Mystery

Maybe is a chip in the brain that compells us, sort or a chip I mean, for me is an urge that started early in life, I try to keep memories of names in my mothers chat over dinners, mostly when we had no tv, I long for those moments... than tater after her pass of the way I dream a lot about her very vividly, and since I started this genealogy formaly those dreams almos stop, nowadays I dream about her now and then... thanks to my parents use of the oral tradition I feel that my relatives I never met are part of the family... that's for me Emilie how it is.   Bye   Leticia Leon

When I read this, I had also just read about the same phenomenon in a book
called "Psychic Roots", except that they said it took about eight generations
for the butterflies to make the round trip.  Talk about serendipity!

Are we like those butterflies?  What is it that calls us to locate the
records of our ancestors from eight generations past when we have not
been where they lived?

That history of Monte Escobedo is what got me on Leonardo de la Torre's
trail. It is very interesting because many of the heirs took on the
name Covarrubias, who were prolific among the few Spanish families that
were in the Totatiche area in the 17th Century and it looks like a lot
of the land that was owned by Francisco Escobedo was around Totatiche.
I think there are references to el Rio Guajuquilla, which I have found
out from other sources is today called the Rio Cartagenas which runs
through Totatiche.

I had seen the above website earlier when it was still undergoing construction. A recent
contribution to the site, http://club.telepolis.com/jerz/index_archivos/marabr/algo.htm,
reviews the history of the researcher's family, del Hoyo y Landa. Señor del Hoyo is an
associate of the much previously discussed genealogy researcher Leonardo de la Torre. I
think he does a good job with the history.

For my purposes, the article is interesting because the Valparaiso haciendas discussed by
del
Hoyo were later owned by my Felguerez family after 1850. Of course, after the Mexican
revolution, the great majority of these haciendas were lost and presently are only empty
shells of what they once were. When I went to Zacatecas in April I took pictures of the
Hacienda de San Mateo de Valparaiso that is
