Starts out with index list with page numbers as for example I am on page 12 of the 742 page document:

http://oi58.tinypic.com/2w3rhh0.jpg

Say "conversion de indios tepehuanos" on page 86

I am looking for Huejuquilla El Alto

This is "registro de nuevo galicia" I found in the PARS website.

I need to remind myself also look for a "registro de zacatecas" in the PARS site.

Odd because when I enter that reference number it comes out differently that the original documet I am looking at. What I originally am looking at is this:

http://oi61.tinypic.com/25f4llw.jpg

And the way I found is I typed in google search:

Visita del obispado de Guadalajara y nueva población en el valle de Huejuquilla

And selected the one that is circle in green:

http://oi60.tinypic.com/nbqfeo.jpg

And it took me right to the 742 page document in the pars website

Now I see how to get to the registro de nuevo galicia:

Just copy and paste this reference number in the pars website: GUADALAJARA,230,L.3

Then go the the very last page on the list which is pg 31 and it is the last one.

University of Austin Texas Collection of Maps

I was reading about mining in Bolanos, Jalisco, Mexico:

http://geo-mexico.com/?p=10108

And it lead me to map collections by the University of Austin, Texas:

I am reading a PDF file that is long and interesting on Colonial Zacatecas.

La villa de Nombre de Dios was indeed part of Zacatecas, practically the "frontier" and heavily militarized (you can tell by the amount of captains that lived there) today is in the borderline of Durango facing Zac. I've had research the oldest film for this place which its until today my most difficult challenge, for anyone who venture to it I have to say that there are many pages in between that were not indexed (since is in very poor conditions and the pictures taken where really bad) and thus. although some records in the FamilySearch index point to the film, this isn't by any means the whole contents of it.

One of my oldest ancestors (Agustin Quiralte) established there and like him there were some other people with family relations in Zacatecas, I have a list of some surnames that appear in the first film, some are quite familiar if you have done some genealogy in Zac. One of the most prominent families were the Flores y Rivera same that owned (and probably constructed) the Hacienda de la Ochoa, very wealthy people, there was also the Roxas, Paez de Guzman and Galindo families who seems to be quite rich too. Another interesting fact is the amount of "black" and "mulato" people they have there. In the mid 1600's there where many Natives and slaves that have those names wich means that here baptizing them with their master/owner names was rather common.

Here is the list in case any one is interested, I've did not research this families, I was (back when I read this record) just checking what kind of last names where there.

I am chatting with a historian of Zacatecas, Mexico and he lives over there.

He is also telling me that he has the padron of Valparaiso year 1648. There were 60 people, 12 were "espanoles" the rest "indios and castas."

He says that "Angon" is one of the 12 of the "espanoles." I asked him for a copy of the padron of 1648 and he says he will send it to me.

Nice findings, these information is also on the PARES web site, probably the most challenging part of the website is to filter accurately without missing possible matches, on the pdf you have just passengers and in an alphabetical order, comes in handy here and there.

That is Hernando Escobedo and his wife Maria Diaz? I looked up Hernando Escobedo in Pars website:

http://www.archivesportaleurope.net/web/guest

There are several on him. Here is one where he seems to be in Zacatecas in 1574:

INDIFERENTE,2055,N.74

Copy and past that in search of Pars website

Never give up

I have been stuck for years on finding the parents of my 4th great grandfather Jose Ysidro Hurtado.

Victoriano Huerta's Genealogy - Marquez de los Olivos

I have been working for some time on documenting the ancestors and descendants of Victoriano Huerta.

Arturo,
I believe I had written to you a few months ago requesting to see the family tree you have of Victoriano Huerta so far. Although his cousins seem to be missing, and that is the key for me as I believe my g-g-grandmother was related to him however it is hard to show since I have yet to find any records for her.

Comentario

Arturo,

Sorry the films start in 1718 they where probably married before that date since one of there children is being married in 1832.

In FamilySearch there is a marriage of Phelipe Marques to JNA. JETRUDIS DE LUNA
Marriage: 12 MAY 1727 San Luis, Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico
Film: 0443781 Batch: M604651 years 1720 - 1751

This might be a second spouse so I would look at the marriage record it will indicate if he was previously married. If his first wife did pass away he would have remarried quickly since he had young children at home.

Eduardo:

Thank you for your help. There are actually records for Colotlan dating back to the 1660s but they were not filmed by the LDS Church and now the priest in Colotlan won't let people look at them. Select records were transcribed by Esteban Valdes but the marriage in question is not in there. I was hoping it might show up in neighboring Tlaltenango, which was the main market town of the area...

As with Miguel Hidalgo, most history books have erroneous information on Victoriano Huerta's birthdate and sometimes even his parents' names. I got into an editing war on Wikipedia over it that didn't end even after I posted his baptism certificate which was even annotated for when the record transcription was sent to Mexico City...

Comentario

Hi Arturo, where is it possible to look at these transcriptions or non filmed information?

It would be of great help.

Arturo,

I was hoping that someone else would add additional information to your posting.
The following individual might be another daughter of Phelipe and Francisca (her brother was married in this town and another brother had at least one child there):

Ana De Sn. Joachin Marques Sanches
Christened: 25 October 1722 San Luis,Colotlan,Jalisco,Mexico
Father: Phelipe Marques
Mother: Franca. Xaviela Sanches
Film:0443671 Batch: C602861 years 1718 - 1743

I was curious if she had her grandparents listed on her christening record so I took a peak; she does not. pg 94 if I recall. I can send you a copy if you like. You might want to look at the Marriage Batch number for the same locality.

I would be looking for the marriage, christening of children, and possibly his and her christening (depending on findings) in: San Luis,Colotlan,Jalisco,Mexico

good luck!

i don't know, i just got their autosomal dna tested not their y or mt dna since those tests are too expensive and aren't offered by ancestry.

i find it odd that ancestry estimated his dna as being 12% middle eastern, while it gave my mom 4% and her sister(my aunt) 3%.

Other than the total East Asian % Native American the only times that the amounts between siblings will consistently be within 1-5% are when the Gedmatch calculators are used or the Dodecad Wrapper is used.

Siblings share 50% of the DNA. Due to recombination each child gets a random 50% of one parent and a random 50% of the other parents DNA. Only 25% of each parents overlaps in siblings. http://www.isogg.org/wiki/Autosomal_DNA_statistics

That is why testing as many close relatives as possible is best.

Hello Rick,

It depends on what you are looking for.

To find cousins you should get the autosomal tests at all of the companies - the FTDNA Family Finder, 23andme, and Ancestry.com tests.

To get the best ethnic breakdown 23andme. 2nd best is Ancestry.com

For the direct paternal line an FTDNA Y-DNA37 marker test minimum. 67 marker is even better.

For the maternal line the Full Sequence mtDNA although an mtDNAplus can be enough if all you want to know if the maternal line is Native American, European, or other.

Comentario

and you can upload the raw dna data to gedmatch and play with some of their tools(i wouldn't recommend the are your parents related tool or the eye color one since they aren't that accurate)

Help please

You all have been so helpful in the past I hate to ask for a favor. I am having trouble with this Marriage Dispensation. I am trying to locate Francisco Hurtado Jimenez’ parents names.

Comentarios

Comentario

The Dispensa only mention his mothers name and the relation tree between the groom and the bride, he is at that point also a widower, the tree mentioned is as follow:

1 Doña Maria Anna de Anda (sister of) Juan de Anda Altamirano

2 Doña Micaela de Pedroza (cousin of) Geronimo de Anda

3 Francisco Hurtado Ximenes (second cousin of) Lucas de Anda

4 -------------------------------------------- Anna Agustina de Anda (third niece of the groom)

looking quickly on familysearch for the name of the mother plus the Hurtado last names it shows this result:

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NVRT-YLQ

Comentario

RJ, thank you for your assistance. This is going to take me sometime to figure out. I did have that connection for Francisco Hurtado Ximenes' parents but I was hoping the dispensation gave the father's name so I could confirm it. I truly appreciate your time.

Comentario

Well, the search results at familysearch are actually three (with the mothers name plus the Hurtado name); Francisco Hurtado Anda, Maria Cornelia Huratado Anda and Mariana Hurtado Pedroza, the three records shows the fathers as Joseph Hurtado, that for me would be a good amount of data to corroborate the fathers name, who in turn may be Hurtado Ximenes and thus his son name himself with both surnames. If you add the fact that the mothers name shows no just Pedroza but De Anda in those records I would say that's a positive identification in comparison with the Dispensa, where clearly states she is from De Anda and Pedroza family. Hope it helps a little.

Forgot to tell you, you should check (although you probably did already) Francisco first marriage which seems to be this one: Francisco Urtado and Ana Gutierres de Mendoza, if you find the corresponding marriage information besides the marriage record (informacion matrimonial on familysearch) would probably give you the names of the parents there too.

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JC8T-RY8

Comentario

Thanks again RJ. I have all of those and thanks. By you telling me he was a widower I was able to find the record for his first marriage. It is indeed Ana Gutierres de Mendoza and it lists his parents as Joseph Hurtado and Micaela de Pedroza. I also found the marriage information for his parents Joseph and Micaela and when reading it says "no conosidos" which I believe means they don't know who his parents are.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18567-41563-8?cc=1874591&wc=…

Comentario

Yes, unfortunately as you may know already most widower/widow records for marriage lack the parents name, but in the other hand that Dispensa gave you a least the tree for the "De Anda" family. By the way, the witnesses are: Francisco Alvares Tostado, Christobal Ramires de Hermosillo and Luis Lopez Ramires.

Indeed the "no conocidos" means they did not know the parents for your last record, now the reasons for that could be many, therefore it many not necessarily be a dead end yet, but could go either way.

Interesting how all this people those records in this time period are using two surnames, I've hardly seen that on my own genealogy, always something to learn. Good luck with your researches.

Help with marriage record - Calletano Franco 1840

I'm having difficulty completely understanding this marriage record for Calletano Franco (top of left page). It's from San Juan de los Lagos, 1840.

Comentario

Hello,

I looked at the record. I was able to read that Calletano Franco was a widow from Filomena Guzman. The bride was Lugarda (CAMPOS) from LA CUEBA her parents: Ygnacio "Campos" and Ana Maria Martin. (please look at the line before Lugarda's name and compare the abbreviation that the priest used for "CAMPO" santo and Lugarda's last name)

Note: If I would have to guess the last name should be MARTIN DEL CAMPO. I looked in family search please look at the following record (LUGARDA'S BIRTH) (the record implies that both parents are Martin "del campo")

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18562-51166-31?cc=1874591&wc…

Also I found another record that is a possibility for Ygnacio and Ana Maria's marriage.

Ah, the "Campos - Martin Del Campo" helps clear things up. I didn't even think of that, though I have seen Campos on one later descendant. It looked like Filomena Guzman was from Encarnacion de Diaz, and I was able to located the record for her marriage to Calletano Franco, along with baptism records for their children.

I will go through some of the additional records you provided as well. Thank you so much! Nancy

Transcription of Tamaulipas birth record

If anyone is willing for a challenge, here's one I am having a lot of trouble with. Francisca Rincón Ynfante moved to Rincón de Romos and married there, but her birth record is giving me grief.

Hi,
Indeed the document is hard to read. I think you made a very wood job. I would make some minor corrections:

Pablo Rincón, casada, should be "Pablo Rincón, casado,"
(comprarecció??) should be "compareció" (spoke before a judge)
Empleado del citado could be "empleado del estado" (State employee)
Tampicas should be "Tampas.", which just like "Tamps." would be an abbreviation for "Tamaulipas".
21-30 is the equivalent of "9:30 PM"
(Capital?) is indeed "Capital", since Victoria is the State Capitol.
Juz que may be "Juzgado" (court)
íqnoro should be "ignora" (is ignored)
Francisca Po.? del Rincón my be "Francisca R. de Rincón"

There is a 1930 census record from San Nicolas, Tamaulipas, showing a Nicolás Rincón (78) mand a Francisca Rincón de R. (70), So, it seems her maiden name was "Francisca Rincón" and once married she was known as "Francisca Rincón de Rincón", with either Rincón surname abbreviated as R.

Hi Stuart.

Please look at the record below. I made some changes. I had some problems as well understanding some of the words (because of the handwriting) I hope it helps. Made the changes in CAPITAL letters

DOY FE.

My GG Grandfather Patricio Madera (1792 - ?) - Firma A La Adhesion Al Federalismo 1824

I was chatting with a distant relative who we both share a common ancestor "Patricio Madera (1792 - ?)" of Huejuquilla El Alto, Jalisco, Mexico.

I would translate "patricio madera fue firmante de la adhesion al federalismo en 1824" as "Patricio Madera was one of those who signed in favor of joining the Federal Republic in 1824".

After Independence in 1821, the Mexican Empire was formed. Then in 1823 the Federal Republic was proclaimed and formally established in 1824 when the Federal Constitution was signed.

A Federal Republic is a country formed by the union of autonomous states, like the USA or Mexico.

It seems like the local governments of towns signed in favor of joining the Federaton in 1823. Here are some examples of towns that now are in the Tlaquepaque Municipality (San Pedro, Toluquilla, San Martín, Zalatitlán and Santa Anita):

How are you,
Sorry for any inconvenience, I'm in a terrible situation. Am stranded here in Philippines since last night. I was hurt and robbed on my way to the hotel I stayed and my luggage is still in custody of the hotel management pending when I make payment on outstanding bills I owe. Am waiting for my colleagues to send me money to get back home but they have not responded and my return flight will be leaving soon. Please let me know if you can help and I will refund the money back to you as soon as I get back home.
Please let me know if you can help..
Thanks,

Carrol

Click the "My Account" button on the top right, then click the "edit" button and in there is a place where you should be able to upload pictures.

This is what the "Capilla De San Diego" looks like marked in the green arrow of the picture above:

http://oi59.tinypic.com/2yyryvt.jpg

It goes as far back as 1649!!!!!!

As it says in the Escudo De Armas of Huejuquilla:

http://www.inafed.gob.mx/work/enciclopedia/EMM14jalisco/municipios/1404…

"En el cuadro superior izquierdo, la representación de la Capilla de San Diego de Alcalá, cuya fecha 1649, marca el inicio formal de la evangelización franciscana en la región."
