I just wanted to tell the new members who are new to researching that after 10 years of researching I just did my first record of "hijos naturales." I'd stayed away from them because I felt it was sort of prying.. silly me! I"m working on 0439889 Jerez Zacatecas, hijos naturales and have found lots and lots of children listed as natural when their parents were actually married!

I am trying to find out where two places are.
Mineral de Angeles is one, is this now Noria de Angeles or are they two different places?
The other is Mineral de Pinos. I know it must be in Pinos, Zacatecas, I just want to know where and if it has another name now.

When I was very young (1940-50's) I spent time with my family in Jalisco on Rancho Calderón, which is reached by following the road between Zapotlanejo and Tepatitlán and leaving it about halfway, to reach the rancho which was pretty far from the highway. Rancho Calderón was in the Valle de Calderón and the adobe structures were quite ancient. I think I remember hearing that the main hacienda was built in the 1600's or 1700's. It was owned by the Romo (de Vivar) family but purchased in the early 20th century by Salvador Padilla. Salvador Padilla had married María Guadalupe "Lupe" Romo and purchased the failing rancho to "keep it in the family." Salvador and Lupe were probably born shortly after the turn of the century, since Lupe is still alive and in her late 90's. She was the daughter of Luis Romo (de Vivar), one of the sons of my GGGF José de los Santos Romo (de Vivar). I have no idea whether it was he or one of his sons who owned the rancho. In a sad turn of affairs, the rancho was seized by the government in the late 1900's and is now at the bottom of a reservoir. I see a big reservoir on the Google map, which is north of the highway and is long enough to fill the middle third of the distance between Zapotlanejo and Tepatitlán--but I'm not even sure if the rancho was north or south of the highway.

I know this is an often repeated announcement around here, but since we have so many new members and the activity on the list has heated up, I figured I should repeat it.

Please, please trim your messages. When you reply to a posting via email, if you have your email set to include the message to which you are replying as part of the message, delete all but that part of the message which is necessary to provide context. Often nothing is necessary other than an appropriate subject for the reply message. If anybody has any Bueno or Lopez Bueno ancestors in Tlaltenango or Colotlan in the late 1600s or early 1700s I would greatly appreciate sharing any information you have.

Hello everyone! My name is Joshua Goodson, grandson of Francisco Romo Villanueva. He was born 21 Apr 1923 in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico. He was married to Marcellina Ribeiro. I know he had at least two sisters, two brothers, and a nephew that are also from Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico and one of the sisters lived with her husband in Leon, GTO, Mexico. I am not sure if they are still living so I did not include their names. I do not even know the names of my great-grandparents. Most of what I know is from the writing on the back of photos that belonged to my grandfather, most of them dated in the 1950's, and little bits of information my mother could remember. I do not know anything about my family and am finding it very difficult to find any information about them. If anyone know any information or how I can get started, please let me know.

Can anyone help me? I'm looking for info from my mother's ancestors (Maria Carlos) who were/are from Zacatecas, Zacatecas. I've managed to trace her ancestors to my GGGGF Eugenio Carlos born about 1775.

My name is Joseph de Leon. My ancestral roots come from both HUEJUCAR, JALISCO and JEREZ, ZACATECAS. Some of the surnames of my ancestors are: DE LEON, CARLOS, BANUELOS, FLORES, COVARRUBIAS, VILLANEDA, CAMPOS, BORREGO, and many others.

I'm new to this, and I need help connecting my GGG grandfather José de los Santos Romo de Vivar (b.1807) to what seems to be the original location of most of the Romo de Vivar family in the region of Aguascalientes. I have discovered through family records and FamilySearch transcribed christening records a lineage that takes me back to Bernabe ROMO, listed on a baptismal certificate as the father of Gregorio ROMO (b. abt 1780) of Encarnación (de Díaz), Jalisco. But I am having trouble pinning him down. I have found a Bernave ROMO DE VIVAR who married Anna Gertrudis FRANCO in 1761 in Tepatitlán, Jalisco--and those are the names of my ancestor's parents. Can anyone help me with the BANUELOS family tree? I have many Banuelos cousins that share a common GGF from the Huejucar and Zacatecas area. My mother's maternal grandmother was Maria Vicenta Banuelos born Abt. 1840 and reportedly lived to be 100+ years old.

I'm not familiar with the town of Huejucar Jalisco but my Aunt who's family is from there has asked if I could find anything on her families there.
Her parents were Salvador Banuelos and Emma Madrid no dates but approx. 1900 in Huejucar

Tepatitlan is not that far from Aguascalientes........people traveled long distances all the time. It might take them days or weeks to get there but travel they did. Keep in mind that they did not go to work every day if they were agrarians, they grew their subsistence crops and in fallow times would travel from town to town to see family. Some were traveling merchants whose living it was to go from town to town selling their wares. In many instances these traveling merchants up and left their home town if they found another town more desirable with better prospects for making a living. Some males had families in more than one town, they might take up with someone in another town.
