marriage record translation in Calvillo, Aguascalientes

Would someone be able to translate a marriage record for me? I can pick out pieces of it, but don't know enough Spanish to translate the entire thing.

Comment

The majority of the record is the typical language of a marriage record. Here are the pertinent genealogical details:

The groom is Jose Ygnacio Rodriguez, yndio (indio), origo (born) y vecino (resident) de esta (this place) en San Nicolas (the specific rancho/location). He is the son of Juan Manuel Rodriguez and Maria Teodora (deceased).

The bride is Maria Orencia Briseno, yndia, born at Juanacatique in the jurisdiction of Tavasco (Tabasco), and resident since she was a small child at Llano de Santiago. She is the daughter of Torivio Briseno and Maria Juliana Ortis.

The padrinos were Feliciano Medrano and Maria Jose, yndios of this jurisdiction at Pena Blanca. The witnesses appear to be Don Pablo Gonzales and Don Dionicio de Velasco, vecinos of this congregation.

I hope this helps!

Julia,

In regards to Bernardo Ruiz de Esparza, also known as "Bernardo Salado" and even one one occasion "Bernardo Salado de Esparza," I have hypothesized that perhaps Bernardo Salado married to Juana de Siordia had something to do with this. Perhaps he was named after him, they were a distinguished couple in Aguascalientes, of their time. Three sons of Bernardo Ruiz de Esparza were Cristobal Salado, Nicolas Salado and Lucas Salado. At least two of his grandchildren used the name as well, Gertrudis and Bernardo Salado. It is an interesting topic to evaluate. Unfortunately, I believe we may never know the truth behind the Salado-Esparza name. For now, we know Bernardo Salado was son of Lope Ruiz de Esparza and Ana Francisca de Gabay.

There are many people from the region that would like to know which Indian
tribes their ancestors came from but there really is no way to know for
sure. We know that the original Indians in the area were zacatecos,
cazcanes, tecuexes and guachichiles see
http://www.inafed.gob.mx/work/enciclopedia/EMM14jalisco/municipios/1403…

There were tribes of Tlaxcaltecas and Otomíes that assisted the Spaniards
in the Chichimeca war and mixed and settled with the local Indians so you
could have a mix.

Here is another page that is about the Indians of Jalisco -
http://www.houstonculture.org/mexico/jalisco_indig.html

You might have some Aztec ancestry but if so it is probably a minority of
your Indian ancestry.

It's unfortunate that so many people from the region, even my own close
relatives, think that we have Aztec ancestry when we likely have very
little.

My grandmother had a lot of Indian ancestors from Encarnación de Díaz.

Armando I agree finding the correct band or tribe is very hard. My paternal line is from Zacatecas and my maternal in Jalisco but in Michoacán before that. I did have the MTDNA test done to see the nationality of my first Mother. It came back haplogroup A and the bands/tribes include Nahua which is part of the Aztec nation. Sadly I have not been able to take it further back then mid 1800's in Michoacán but I will keep looking but on my paternal line in Jerez, Zac I don't think I will ever know the exact Native lines I have.

Yes, Nahua is a UtoAztecan language and mtDNA is found among the Nahua
speakers but mtDNA A is not specific to Nahua, it is found all over the
Americas all the way from Alaska to Argentina. So even though it found
among Nahua it is also found among Mayans, Zapotecas, and Purépechas which
all speak different languages. So you are correct in stating that you might
never know which Native lines you have.

For a list of studies that include mtDNA A see the links at
http://dna-explained.com/2013/09/18/native-american-mitochondrial-haplo…

The following study shows that A1 (A2 descends from A1) exists in Native
tribes from the Tarahumara (Rarámuri) and peaks in the Maya.
http://www.plosone.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0044…

A recently published study shows that A2 existed in Argentina in ancient
remains they have found. It probably still does exist there. You can
download the PDF to see the tables.
http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/ahg.12075/suppinfo

To see a list of mtDNA groups that descend from A1 do a CRL+F for G1442A at
http://www.phylotree.org/tree/subtree_N.htm

A1 descends from A which descends from N which is why the subtree starts
with N.

That is soooo cool Rudy, that you know which tribe you come from. Most of
us can only guess based on where our ancestors lived. In that part of
Zacatecas and Jalisco there were the Huicholes, Caxcanes, Guachichiles and
the Zacatecos who were from Northern Zacatecas.

Thanks for sharing.

That's interesting to know about the Sanchez and the Banuelos. I'm stuck right now, because I haven't found my ggg grandfather's baptismal record, nor his parents' marriage information (not sure where they wed). My ggg grandfather was Jose de la Luz Sanchez Banuelos. His parents were Andres Sanchez and Maria Feliciana (Petronila) Banuelos. I'm not sure if Jose de la Luz was the first born (married 7 May 1818 in Guachinango, Jalisco at age: 36, putting him around 1782, but not sure if he was born in Ameca, Jalisco) or if his sister Maria de San Juan Sanchez Banuelos (born in Villa de Xerez around 1783 according to her marriage certificate of 28 Mar 1808 in Ameca, Jalisco. All of their other sibling were born in Ameca, Jalisco, and I've found all of their baptismal records.

I'm just wondering if you came across any of these names.

Katy, Juan's raw DNA file was uploaded to Gedmatch, but the email belongs to someone else, and he shows as a match to your mother. If you were to transfer your mother's test to FTDNA you would see Juan as a match your mother at FTDNA and he would see your mother with your email. Your mother would probably also be a match to Joseph. I don't think Joseph has uploaded to Gedmatch.

You would also see a lot of other people from Zacatecas, and nearby, as matches if you were to transfer your mother's results to FTDNA.

Likewise if Linda were to test with FTDNA then she would probably be a match to your mother, Joseph, and to Juan. If she were to upload to Gedmatch she would probably see your mother and Juan as matches.

Juan, if you create an account with www.gedmatch.com then search one to many matches, with your FTDNA account with an F in front of it, you will see Katy's email in the list of matches. You don't have to upload your file since someone else has done that for you.

I want to invite everybody to use de DNA to share information, I think this tool is very useful with people like us that have documented the family tree of our families. The amount of Spaniard were so limited that I am sure that at least an important % of us share a comoun DNA. In a few words we are cousins.

Joseph and I have been tested by familytree DNA and many of us too. We just have to use the tools we have.

This is an interesting study. The supplements document can be downloaded
without registering. It's at
http://www.sciencemag.org/content/suppl/2014/06/11/344.6189.1280.DC1/Mo…

Figure S10 shows that the Purépecha and Nahua Jalisco are similar to each
other even though they speak languages from different language families,
Tarascan vs UtoAztecan (see table S1). The Huichol are very different from
Purépecha and Nahua Jalisco even though the Huichol occupy parts of
northwestern Jalisco and Nayarit and the Huichol speak a dialect of
UtoAztecan as do the Nahua Jalisco. Table S1 shows the linguistic families
of each group as well as the region each one inhabits. This goes to show
that DNA and language can be independent of each other because you can have
two different language groups with similar autosomal DNA and you can have
two different autosomal DNA groups that speak the same language.

Molecular, Universidad de Guadalajara, Ocotlán, Mexico.

Mia,

There were in fact members of the García de León who mixed with other caste and did produce mulatos. They continued using their last names, I have also found a couple ilegitimate lines in Aguascalientes, Celaya and Teocaltiche.

Comment

Hi Mia,

Technically, it would not be possible to be an Indio if the father was an español, and fairly unlikely to be a mulato, unless the mother was actually black, but, in reality the colonial caste system was mostly based on appearance and features and not on a thorough investigation into their racial or ethnic background. I'm guessing that your question is related to Toribio García de León. You are correct that he is español, but, if you look at George Fulton's Aguascalientes Matrimonial Information here: http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/18014

you'll see that Toribio Garcia de Leon married a Mulata named Juana Hernandes, so, although their children should be more accurately classified as Moriscos, any number of other caste labels are possible based on their appearance.

Here is the actual IM for Toribio García de León and Juana Hernandes : https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11671-65970-66?cc=1502404&…

Toribio García de León was baptized on 1 May 1669 in Aguascalientes: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-12047-90519-12?cc=1502404&…

As it says on his baptism and Información Matrimonial, he is the son of Juan García de León and Juana de Ulloa. The last will and testament of Bartolomé García de León confirms that he and his first wife Antonia de Cáceres are the parents of Juan García de León.

Bartolomé García de León married Antonia de Cáceres in Aguascalientes on 24 Feb 1636:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11824-51976-86?cc=1502404&…

Antonia de Caceres died around 21 Jun 1646 from childbirth: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-11773-145304-59?cc=1502404…

Bartolomé García de León died 27 Mar 1679 in Aguascalientes: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-11773-147019-59?cc=1502404…

That's all the information I know.

Good luck in your search,

Hello Mia :

Indian with a spanish father doesn't exist, he could be mestizo from Spanish
and Indian or mulato from Spanish and Black . So a member of the Spanish
family Garcia de Leon that marry with an Indian or a black woman .

But sometimes Black slaves and Indians servants , like they did'nt have last
names use to take those of the master, so I think you should continue to
look until you find where is the conection with that family in Celaya.

Good luck

Hello members,

I saw in the older posts on Nuestros Ranchos a few posts about the Garcia de
Leon family from Celaya Guanajuato and wanted to ask a question. One of my
direct ancestors has parents named Toribio Garcia and Juana Hernandes but my
ancestor is sometime listed as mulato and sometime Indian and I saw that the
Garcia de Leon family are Spanish. Is it possible that my ancestor is mulato
or Indian with a Spanish father?

Mia

did they get rid of the jalisco chruch records

i was getting ready to index the guadalajara marriage dipsensations for the last part of the 1855 and the link no longer worked.

Hello Katy, It says they are "Having technical difficulties." https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1874591

Last week they had a big crash and even Family Tree Maker wasn't working. I thought it was my computer; I even took it in for service but they couldn't fix it. I saved my tree on another computer and erased the program from my computer then reloaded. Still didn't work. Finally I called their line and there was a recording. Thought me to check before assuming the problem is on my end. Maybe they will upload more files while they are fixing the problem. Deedra Corona

. I read your post with excitement because Roque Gomez and Thomasina Ramirez are very prominent in my tree. This couple did have a son named Nicolas, but he was born in Tecolotlan, 8 April, 1742. I believe the problem is that there are several persons with the name Nicolas Gomez. I hope you agree that we should help each other keep these confusing families straight.
Lic. Nicolas Thadeo Gomez y Aguilar was married 3 times:
To Estefania Fernandez de Monrroy, as you mentioned, on 21 August, 1757:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18377-26959-56?cc=1874591&wc…

This document does mentioned the deceased wife; Manuela Flores, whom he married in Guadalajara on 23 April, 1749.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18380-16944-31?cc=1874591&wc…

This document also mentions a deceased wife: Juana Maria Villasenor whom he married in Cocula 31 January, 1738

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18433-24922-24?cc=1874591&wc…

The dispensa for his niece, Rita Gomez Garcia and Pedro Araiza Medina in 1760 in Zapotlan was helpful to me in determining that the parents of Nicolas Thadeo were Joseph Gomez Garcia and Maria Candelaria Aguilar y Solario and mentions that her father was his brother and he raised Rita in his home.

Saludos Ignacio,

Frankly, I thought for a while before responding the first time because I was afraid my comments would appear condescending; but then I realized that I would hope that others would lead me in the correct direction, as they sometimes have.

The problem, I believe, is that there are so many people with similar or exactly the same names. I think the best we can do is exactly what we are doing: Collaborating with each other. That is why it is so important to investigate, research, remain vigilant, keep an open mind, and share. Forums like Nuestros Ranchos provide us the opportunity to work with each other on this common pursuit.

And the search continues!!!

I've found that sometimes it's in the descendants marriage information records that I can put the correct families together especially if there is a marriage dispensation. That's means that it may take up to 4 generations to find the answers we are looking for. The answer is sharing since seldom can one can find all the information alone.

Ignacio,

just a small correction. her name was Ana de la Trinidad Garcia and only one record among many lists her as Benedicta. Her husbands name is actually Jose Antonio del Carmel/Carmen Caldera. They are my ancestors too. I find most of their family in El Durazno, Jerez Zac but find them with the Caldera family in La Boca de San Pedro, as padrinos and witness's but have not been able to prove they are related.

Hi Joseph,

José de la Lus Ramírez's wife's name was Apolinaria Ceballos. Her father was
Dionicio Ceballos and his wife was Agustina Medrano.
Jose's father's name is Pedro José Ramirez and his wife's name is Gertrudis
Felix, but we have no locations on them.

In terms of Joseph Antonio Luciano Caldera, his wife's name was Feliciana
Ceballos. Joseph's fathers name was Josef Antonio Caldera, and
his wife was
named Anna Benedicta García but once again we have no locations.

Our genealogists have done a lot of work on this and have had trouble, as
most of the church archives are unindexed. Are any of your members located
in Zacatecas?

We need the information basically as soon as possible, we're shooting in two
weeks and would love to have the information within a week!
Thanks for your help, I realize this is quite short notice, so I appreciate
anything you can do!

FYI,

Maria Cortez of Nuestros Ranchos and Nueva Galicia Genealogical Society is
currently doing research for PBS, Finding your roots, the Henry Louis Gates
production. That would make 2 people from Nuestros Ranchos.

Has anyone looked in Nochistlan or Juchipila? There's a possibility that
they may have been from Jalpa and if that's the case, you're out of luck.
Let me do a little research in some of the books I have from Nochistlan. If
I find anything, I'll let you know.

Has anyone tried the 2 marriage films for Jerez 440059 & 440060. I
have looked at the records for the 4 children of Joseph Antonio & Anna
Benedicta, and they are pretty much from El Durazno, Jerez, Zacatecas.

Have you tried searching in the LDS? I did a search and came up with 4 children and one married. This is in the year of the 1600"s in Aguascalientes. Is this where your family is from?

Mary

Comment

You should try using the LDS..... familysearch.org.... you should also keep in mind that Lopes is spelled 2 ways, LOPEZ and LOPES. If this is your family and from the 1600's you should not have any trouble locating them.

1... Bias Lopez 1670 Aguacalientes

2... Gertrudis Lopes 13 May 1656

3... Nicolas Lopez 31 May 1660

4... Teressa Lopes 23 Sept 1649

Blas Lopez de Lizalde Marriage date 3 Feb 1689...... I 'm assuming that Blas and Bias are two and the same persons. Many Indians wrote this information in the books and were not very good spellers. You would have to go to the family search to get the film numbers and do your own resarch. Also Albardo has two ways of spelling Albarado and Alvardo, to my experience this is what I know.
Happy hunting
Mary

Daniel,

According to my records, the first López de Elizalde (also spelled Lizalde, Lisalde, etc.) in the area was Juan López de Elizalde y Aberruza, born in Tolosa, Navarra (Spain). He married Leonor Becerra y Sánchez de Mendoza 21 Jan 1585 in San Juan de los Lagos, Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco. Some of their children were born and lived in Aguascalientes. Here is a quick genealogy report on the first generation.

1. Juan López de Elizalde y Aberruza was born in Tolosa, Navarra, Spain. He married Leonor Becerra y Sánchez de Mendoza 21 Jan 1585 in Santa María de los Lagos, Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, Mexico, daughter of Juan Becerra y Hurtado de Mendoza and Anna Sánchez de Mendoza. Leonor was born in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, Mexico.

Children of Juan López de Elizalde y Aberruza and Leonor Becerra y Sánchez de Mendoza were:

2 i. Juan López de Elizalde. He married María Burgueño; died 12 Dec 1638 in San Juan de los Lagos, Jal. Mexico.

3 ii. María López de Elizalde, born Abt. 1597; died 04 Mar 1678 in Aguascalientes, Ags. Mexico. She married (1) Juan de Luévana Abt. 1617 in Aguascalientes, Ags. 5 iv. Juana López de Elizalde, born Abt. 1608; died 22 May 1682 in Aguascalientes, Ags. Mexico. She married Jacinto Ruiz de Esparza Abt. 1629 in Aguascalientes, Ags. Mexico; born Abt. 1604 in Aguascalientes, Ags. Mexico; died 27 Jul 1679 in Aguascalientes, Ags. Mexico.

6 v. Nicolás López de Elizalde, born Abt. 1612 in Aguascalientes, Ags. Mexico. He married Regina de Alvarado.

7 vi. Beatriz López de Elizalde, born Abt. 1615. She married Luis de Alvarado Abt. 1637 in Aguascalientes, Ags. Mexico; born Abt. 1611.

8 vii. Leonor López de Elizalde, born Abt. 1617 in Aguascalientes, Ags. Mexico. She married Juan Fernández Vaulus de Siordia.

I'll be able to help you with other descendants after you trance your ancestors to the early XVIII century. I don't have anything recent.

Gracias antemano,
Daniel Méndez de Torres Camino

You mentioned Maria Dimas de la Paz, you are right her parents were Maximo de la Paz and Maria Agatona Ledesma,I have them in my tree. I also have Maximo de la Paz parents,Pedro Ramon de la Paz(1762 to 3/5/1825 Huejuquilla)and Maria Gertrudis Luna. Pedro Ramon had 2 other wives which were Maria Josefa Aguilar and Maria Ygnes Miramontes. Pedro Ramon de la Paz parents were Eugenio Fernando de la Paz(8/5/1737 Aguascalientes)and Maria Luisa de la Torre. He was also married to Maria Ciriaca Flores.Eugenio Fernando de la Paz parents were Antonio de la Paz and Anna de Luera.
I'm sorry I dont have the links to all this info, but I did the research myself and saved the images for reference. If you would like copies of the images let me know and I will try to figure out how to send the image to just you through the website, if not I can just email you the images.

Thank you Ruben,

Can you tell me the Rancho that Maximo De La Paz is from? It says in the bautismo of my Great Great Grandmother Maria Dimas De La Paz in 1819 as from "Rancho Del Quitaste"

Can't read the writing.

Comment

I never found his baptism record, but his father died in Rancho del Salitre and all of Maximo's brothers and sisters for whom I have records also say Rancho del Salitre. Maximo'siblings,
Jose Justo de la Paz (7-7-1784 to 1-23-1830)married Maria Josefa Ramona Madera
Maria Gertrudis Pioquinta de la Paz (7-6-1795)
Maria Victoria de la Paz (1791 to 10-12-1810)
Maria Luisa de la Paz (1798 to 09-20-1814)
So his father lived in Rancho del Salitre up to his death and his siblings were also born there.Until we find a record for him we can only assume he was also from Rancho del Salitre.

I am familiar about Rancho Del Salitre. There are two of them. Rancho Salitre De Arriba which on the north side of the road that leads into Huejuquilla. And there is Rancho Salitre De Abajo, which is on the south side of the road.

Comment

I've been reading your past post on your research and I too have ancestors that originated in Mezquitic around the same time and ended up in Huejuquilla and Valparaiso in the Rancho de los Maderas and Rancho Jimulco. Except, my ancestors were Navarrete and de la Paz. Both families did marry into the Maderas. I was only able to go back to early 1700's with Agustin Navarrete and wife Leonora Rivera.Their son's Domingo Navarrete (1724 Mezquitic) and Juan Navarrete (1735 Mezquitic). I am trying to see if Maria Magdalena Navarrete(your ancestor) was related to them in any way.
Also, these are some of my other ancestor last names from Huejuquilla and Valparaiso from about the same time, de la Paz y Esparza, Perez y Carrillo, Diaz y Banuelos, Catano y Flores,Pacheco y Miramontes, and Gallegos. I am glad you found the image you were looking for, since a lot of Huejuquilla is not indexed. I remember the frustration researching Huejuquilla baptisms because the images were very blurry but rewarding.
Good Luck.

Thanks Ruben,

Maria Magdalena Navarette who was married to Pedro Huizar. Says in the document they are from Valparaiso. There daughter "Maria Leocadia De Huizar" has been referenced as being from "Rancho Ximulco" so I assume she was born in Ximulco.

When you mention the surname "De La Paz" My Great Great Grandfather Patricio Madera (Rancho Ximulco 1792) had kids with "Maria Dimas De La Paz Espanola" (my great great grandmother). She was 27 years younger than Patricio Madera and she was born in 1819 and her parents are Maximo De La Paz and Maria Agatona Ledesma and they are from Rancho Del Quitaste (can't read it clearly). You can see it here:

http://oi57.tinypic.com/4lg01z.jpg

Patricio Madera and Maria Dimas De La Paz are the parents of my great grandfather Calixto Madera De La Paz who I estimate was born sometime in the 1850's.

I still can't find his bautismo but I have his brothers and sister's bautismos and all born in the 1850's. As for example the brother of my great grandfather Calixto Madera (1853? - 1923), his name is Julian Madera (1859) and here is the document on him where it shows Patricio Madera and Maria Dimas De La Paz as the parents:

Now I am more stunned that I just realized that Ed Serros, one of the members of this website has already found my GGGGG Grandfather Blas Madera and I copied the part in what he wrote on one of my past posts:

"I too have family from the areas you describe. For what it is worth, I have repeatedly found the Madera family not only in Huejuquilla el Alto but in the nearby town of Mezquitic, Jalisco. The marriages and baptisms of the Maderas in Mezquitic date back to at least 1686 (Mormon film numbers 1164940 and 1164952). I suspect this is the same family since these towns were all frontier land back then. The elite (well-to-do mestizos, criollos, and the rare peninsular) all intermarried; distance was not a major issue but "class" was. It was preferable to marry a non-NAI. The ultimate prize for a criollo family was to marry a peninsular but it was OK to marry another criollo or well-to-do mestizo (re-labeled "espanol"), near as I can figure from my review of centuries of records in the local area and books that I have read. Bottom line: I think we are talking about the same Madera family, with branches thereof. Also by 1686, at least one of the Madera family members, Blas Madera, son of Joseph Madera and Josepha Basquez, was labeled as mestizo. He married into the espanol Avila family: wife Maria Theresa Avila, daughter of Miguel de Avila and Gertrudis de Robles, both "espanoles." The Robles and Madera family continued to intermarry for at least a century or two."

Thank you Ed Serros! That is the Blas Madera who is my GGGGG Grandfather and to confirm it the wife is Maria Theresa Avila.

So if Blas Madera was born in 1686? That would have made him 74 years old in 1760 when his son Francisco Madera got married with Maria Leocadia De Huizar.

So Blas Madera is the son of Joseph Madera and Josepha Basquez? That gives me another generation to make them my GGGGGG Grandparents.

I am also curious about Pedro Huizar and Maria Magdalena Navarette who are from Valparaiso and the parents of my GGGG Grandmother Maria Leocadia De Huizar.

Comment

welcome to the wonderful world of family trees going back to the same person. If I remember right my cousin Daniel said he has one line that goes back 17 times to the same person in Lagos.. You must also remember that the founding families sometimes made pacts to only marry Espanol and when you start with 10 or 15 families it doesn't take long to be related to everyone!
Another suggestion, never judge lineage by skin, eye or hair color. My Mother was blond, blue eyed and extremely fair skinned but had Indian and black ancestors. If we are lucky we find we are all that Mexico had to offer and one couple could produce babies in all skin tones, hair color and eye color.

What???? I am stunned! I cleary have Francisco Madera and Maria Leocadia De Huizar son, Juan Venancio (Benancio) Madera Espanol being born in "Rancho De Los Maderas in 1762! Which I have posted earlier:

http://oi60.tinypic.com/9kmdn8.jpg

Also have proof in a defunto record when Maria Leocadia De Huizar Espanola passed away in 1813 at 30 that she is from Rancho De Ximulco:

http://oi60.tinypic.com/sglc77.jpg

So that makes Francisco Madera the brother of Lazaro Madera (which I posted ealier) since their parents are "Blas Madera and Maria Theresa Abila.

Francisco Madera would also be the uncle of "Marcelo Madera" who was the owner of "Rancho De Los Maderas" in a census of 1828 (I only copied first page) where it shows "Don Marcelo Madera and Juana Ramirez" first on the list:

http://oi61.tinypic.com/2820pz5.jpg

This also makes Marcelo Madera first cousin of my paternal GGG Grandfather Juan Venancio (Benancio) Madera. Funny is they are both my GGG Grandfathers since both of them have direct lineage to my Grandfather Antonio Madera Madera. Where Juan Benancio Madera goes through my grandfather's paternal side and Marcelo Madera goes through my grandfathers maternal side:

Antonio Madera Madera:

Paternal Side:
Calixto Madera De La Paz (Ximulco, Cerro Blanco
Patricio Madera (1792 Ximulco)/Maria Dimas De La Paz, Espanola
Juan Venancio Madera Espanol 1762 Rancho Maderas/Maria Josefa? Geronima Fernandez?
Joseph Francisco Madera(Rancho Madera) /Maria Leocadia De Huizar (Ximulco)
Blas Madera/Maria Theresa Abila

Maternal Side:

Maria Clemencia Madera (Rancho De Los Maderas)wife of Calixto Madera De La Paz
Benito Madera (Rancho De LosMadera)1833/Maria Estanislada Ramirez
Marcelo Madera (Rancho De Los Madera) /Juana Ramirez
Lazaro Madera (Rancho De Los Madera)/Juana Micaela Perales
Blas Madera/Maria Theresa Abila

Oh my God did we Maderas originate from Mesquitic and moved over to Huejuquilla? So when did "Rancho De Los Madera's was founded? Because then I assume it could have been founded by either Blas Madera or the son Francisco Madera. But it making me think it could Blas Madera that founded Rancho De Los Madera's after coming over from Mesquitic.

At the same time the parents of my GGGG Grandmother Maria Loecadia Huizar, Espanola (Ximulco) who are Pedro Huizar and Maria Magdalena Navarette, Espanoles from Valparaiso came over to Huejuquilla and established themselves at Rancho Ximulco where Maria Leocadia De Huizar, Espanola was born.

Wow! But anyway to describe how my Grandfather Antonio Madera Madera looks like, he has a light complexion with blue eyes. Also a very old man in Huejuquilla by the last name Rimoldi told me he met my Great Grandfather Calixto Madera when he was already old in the early 1900's. And he describe him as looking very European with blue eyes. Most of Dad's brother and sisters have blue eyes but my Dad and another sister have brown eyes.

Thanks Linda for following my posts and giving me your advice. Interesting what you tell me about your family so your family is from the Lagos area? I know where that is since I have passed by there on bus and also on car.

You should have seen how I felt as soon as I turned the page to the next one and began to read and the first words "Joseph Francisco Madera" I froze and my heart jumped. I immediately read the rest of the paragraph to look for "Maria Leocadia De Huizar" and sure enough her name is there to verify it is my GGGG Grandfather Francisco Madera.

Also I saw the name "Blas Madera and Maria Theresa Abila" as the parents of Francisco Madera and they are from Mesquitic. Then saw the names Pedro Huizar and Maria Magdelena Navarette, Espanoles as the parents of Maria Leocadia Huizar and from Valparaiso. I was saying to myself? Mesquitic? Valparaiso? What????

I was assuming my ancestors were one of the original founders of the village of Huejuquilla El Alto, Jalisco, Mexico which was founded on March 23, 1573 as stated by the Government of our village.

But now I am beginning to wonder some of the Ranchos surrounding Huejuquilla were formed in the early 1700's? Probably the parents of Francisco Madera came over from Mesquitic to found Rancho De Los Maderas and the parents of Maria Leocadia Huizar came over from Valparaiso to settle in another nearby rancho.

Regarding Mesquitic? If your traveling from the South side towards Huejuquilla, Mesquitic is the last village before arriving to Huejuquilla. In between Mesquitic and Huejuquilla is the Hacienda of San Antonio.

On the south side of Mesquitic is a very tall mountain where the small village "Monte Escobedo" is way up there and from Monte Escobedo's point of view when your travedling down the mountain towards Mesquitic, Mesquitic looks tiny from a distance. And it is kind of scary the road when your traveling down the mountain. I wonder how in colonial times the people from Monte Escobedo traveled down the mountain towards Mesquitic?

I also know very well Valparaiso since I have passed by that way many times to go to the city of Zacatecas to be with the family of my female partner. Her family is from downtown of the city of Zacatecas.

Ok...now going back to the topic. I am asking myself, were many of the ranchos formed during the early 1700's around Huejuquilla? I would have to locate a registry that recorded that information during that time period. Did Blas Madera/Maria Theresa Abila and Pedro Huizar/Maria Magdalena Navarette live in Huejuquilla? I would think yes so then I can locate their defunto records that must be sometime after the year 1760 because in the matrimonio of Francisco Madera and Maria Leocadia De Huizar of 1760, when their parent's names were mentioned it seems as if they were present at the Matrimonio. So my instinct now would have me look into the defunto records after 1760 to see if I can find them and that would give me the name of another generation of people if the "Cura (Priest)" wrote down the name of the parents.

Another thing that was going through my mind was Pedro Huizar/Maria Magdalena Navarette, who are from Valparaiso. I would think they are the same age as the kids of "Don Fernando De La Campa y Cos" who is from "La Hacienda of San Mateo" that is near Valparaiso. And since Pedro Huizar/Maria Magdalena Navarette were classified as Espanoles from Valparaiso, I wonder if they had contact with the Conde Don Fernando De La Campa Y Cos (1676 - 1754)?

hello, thank you. My maternal line lived in Tamazula, Jalisco and Michoacán before that. My gr-grandmother and Daniels gr-gr grandfather were siblings but Daniels maternal line was from los Altos. My paternal family was from Jerez, Zac but my Castanon line was from Valparaiso where they left in mid 1700's for Jerez. I have not been able to locate any records from Valparaiso so if you find them please let me know.

I just found out something new. My gggg grandmother Maria Leocadia De Huizar also had a brother named "Justo Huizar" Espanol which says he is from Valparaiso and is the son of "Pedro Perez De Huizar and Maria Magdalena Navarette who married "Polonia Casilda Madera" who is the daughter of "Lazaro Madera and Juana Micaela Perales (Rancho De Los Maderas)"

Lazaro Madera is the brother of my gggg grandfather Francisco Madera.

And in the census (Padrones) of 1828, Polonia Madera was 66 years old and also lists some of the people with "Huizar" surnames right under her name. This is from Rancho De Los Maderas:

Please keep me updated on the Perez de Huizar line, I have been interested them for a while now. I have identified the oldest one I could find around 1675. His name was Miguel Perez de Huizar and his wife Leonor Gonzalez. They settled in Colotlan and their descendants spread around the valley in nearby settlements.

I also found a clue here that when Polonia Madera got married with Jose Justo De Huizar in 1784, it mentions that Pedro De Huizar and Maria Magdalena Navarette were already passed away:

I am interested in researching Pedro Huizar and Maria Magdalena Navarette since they were at Valparaiso at the time of Conde Don Fernando De La Campa Y Cos. See if there was any contact between them.

But the records on file at the family search website for the town of Valparaiso doesn't have any records in the 1700's to search for bautismos or matrimonio records.

But there is the posibility they had moved to Huejuquilla and could be have been recorded in the Defunto Records of Huejuquilla which do date back to the 1700's.

So I would have to look prior to 1784 for Pedro Huizar or Maria Magdalena Navarrette. I definetly would like to see who there parents are.

( King Henry III is also known as Henry of Winchester)".

Saludos cordiales.
