New Discovery Today!

John,

I think it''s the other way around, a dummy like me wrote it so it is difficult to comprehend. Here goes a second try. First is Juan's direct line ancestry on his father's side followed by his mother's direct line ancestry. Hilario Jauregui and Ma Concepcion Olasava are the common ancestor for both his paternal and maternal direct line ancestry.

1st Generation: my husband, Juan Carrillo, Juan is the son of Antonio Carrillo Jauregui and Maria Guadalupe Olmos Avelar
2nd Generation: Antonio Carrillo Jauregui married Maria Guadalupe Olmos Avelar. and is the son of Mariana Jauregui Olmos
3rd Generation:  Mariana Jauregui Olmos, mother of Antonio Carrillo and daughter of Francisco Jauregui, Olasava
4th Generation:  Francisco Jauregui Olasava, father of Mariana Jauregui and son of Hilario Jauregui
and Ma Concepcion Olasava
4th Generation: Hilario Jauregui marries Maria Concepcion Olasava, they have 7 children, one of which is Francisco Jauregui and the other relevant

Hi Alicia:

I am really confused about your husbands gg grandparents. I am having a
hard time trying to picture the relationship. Can you find an easy way
to explain it so that a dummy like me can understand it?

Thanks for the information. So many common
locallities, surnames, and places... May I ask the
Title and Author of the book you read on Francisco
Castallanos Sanchez?

Although I see the money signs with the Munoz Family
in Jerez...I have no data to support. That would
improve the color of green on the tree.

Thanks for the reply

Arranged marriages

Another reason for inter-marriages is that young ladies were not allowed to date or to go anywhere without a chaperone. Who did they see on a day to day basis without a chaperone? the neighbor and the sons or daughters of the neighboring landowners. Another factor is that marriages were quite often arranged by the parents, they decided who their children should or should not marry and many or most times it was the sons or daughters of their close friends, family and compadres. The compadres were usually family too.

My mother, my mother in-law and my tia Elvira all tell stories of the men they really loved and wanted to marry but were not allowed to do so by their parents.

If mom would have been allowed to marry the man of her choice I would not be an Avelar, Aguayo, Garcia, Gomez, etc. I'll have to ask mom what surnames I would have if she had married her true love.

My Muro family did marry into the Luna, Haro, Sanchez,
Carrillo, Marquez, Sandoval, Saldana, Rodriguez and
Gonzales, Gomez families. I have gone back into the
mid-1750's with most of these lines. I'm going to
submit more of our family tree since right now I just
have our Muro's in the files. Our family lived in
Sauz De Los Marques and record shows the Muros were
back as far as 1731. Most of our family records were
in Colotlan and Santa Mara De Los Angeles, Villanueva
and probably will find they started in Jerez. I
haven't been able to break through my brick wall with
Juan del Muro & Rita Gertrudis Gomez (mid-1750's).

I forgot to mention the ranch my uncles purchased (Lo

the area) was from the Munoz family, one of the
wealthiest and famous families in Jerez at that time.

I would say yes. Duarte and the Haro families did
intermarry, too, in Jerez. Also, the ranch my uncles
(Garcia de la Cadena brothers) purchased outside of
Jerez circa 1730 was called Lo de Luna. Luna family
ties?

Written on some of the church documents that I
researched on the Duartes, I've seen the names Pueblo
de Talltenango, Fresnillo and Guadalajara mention.

Also, in his time, Francisco Castellanos Sanchez was
one of the most wealthest men in Zacatecas, according
to a book I read. I sure could use some of his money
now.

I believe the Sanchez Castellanos families from
Jerez/Xerez were related to the Duartes from Jerez.
Two of my great------grandmothers from Jerez were from
Sanchez family and my uncle Tribucio Duarte and
Francisco Castellano Sanchez were business partners
back in 1815. I do know that Francisco Castellanos
was originally from Aguascalientes.

New Discovery Today!

My grandparents were cousins in six different ways. All at the 6th
and 7th degree level, but six nevertheless.

I read somewhere that one of the impetuses to intermarriage was to
keep landholdings contiguous and/or large enough to be useful, as
inheritence traditions dictated land being distributed among the
children (including women) and thus the plots would get smaller and
smaller and more and more dispersed unless you married a cousin
(knowlingly or unknowingly) who had inherited the land next to yours.

Sorry guys, had to share this story, it's too much for me to hold in.

I just made a new discovery today regarding my husband's direct line
ancestry. I have known for about 6 months who his GG maternal
Grandparents were, Hilario de Jauregui and Maria Concepion Olasaba who married
12 May 1824 in Nochistlan Zac, but today I discovered that Hilario and Ma
Concepcion are also his GG paternalGrandparents.

Hilario de Jauregui and Ma Concepcion Olasaba had 7 children that
I know of so far.  Antonio Carrillo's grandfather was Francisco de
Jauregui and Ma Guadalupe's Grandmother was Juana de Jauregui. Francisco and
Juana were brother and sister, therefore that makes Hilario de Jauregui

Great research!

Hello friends,
Just a note to say congratulations on all of your great work.
We have been w/o our DSL connection for a month, and so I haven't been
able to keep up with all of your contributions. I get to read a little
bit when I go to the library - but I can only get internet access for
30 minutes per library visit - not near enough time to read everything.
I am up to Nov. 10. I sure hope they are able to fix our connection
soon as I dearly miss reading of all the research.
Y'all take care - belated Happy Thanksgiving.

Olague-Tinajero of Salitrillo, Zacatecas

This is a link to my updated Olague-Tinajero [Felix] tree in World
Connect.  My ancestors were from Salitrillo near Tepetongo.  Only my
father seems to have been born in Jerez, but I can't find a record of his birth
nor of his parents' marriage.  I have traced the Olague-Tinajeros back to
the early 1700's in Salitrillo, since they seem never to have moved from there
until my father and his father immigrated to the US in 1916.  The surnames
included are:  Flores, Suriano, Salasar, Acevedo, Mata, Valdes, Lucio,
Escovedo, De La Torre, Quijas, Banegas and Berumen.  The Tinajeros often
used the surname Felix.

Well, according to some, I made some misconceived assumptions in
my posting about the uncanny resemblance of some people in the religious and
merchant and military communities of Jalisco and Aguascalientes (the altenos, as
Irma says).  However, as Carol Turner states in her posting about Colotlan,
Spaniards and Indians were segregated prior to 1821, and I know of some that
kept their racial lily-white "purity" to recent times, my husband's people, for
instance.  According to my mother-in-law and her sisters (now long dead),
no one in their families or their in-laws' families had "ever mixed with
Indians".  They were accomplished pianists,
etc. and educated.  My husband and his brother are also
averse to manual labor.  I can't ask my husband to fix anything around
here.  He says "they have people that do that; call someone".  In
California I had maids and gardeners, but up here I have bark, boulders, and
native shrubs instead of lawn, and the house gets cleaned when I
