Garcia and Delgado in Old Aguascalientes

Hi Early Aguascalientes Researchers:

I'm trying to unravel a mystery. I'm looking for the ancestors of Antonio Garcia who married Francisca Xavier de Cordoba on Aug. 30, 1730 in Cienega de Mata, Ojuelos. His parents: Christoval Garcia and Getrudis Delgado.

As you know Delgado and Garcia are early Spanish families in Aguascalientes, but I'm not certain of my connections. Bernardo Antonio Garcia was baptized June 29, 1707 in El Sagrario, Aguas (Film 299424), son of Christoval and Getrudis. I have baptism of some of his siblings too. He was Español.

Question is: Does anyone have the marriage of his parents?? The marriage film for this period is extremely bad and dark and barely readable. I'm looking for the marriage of Christobal Garcia and Gertrudis Delgado, circa 1704 to 1707. I am trying to determine their baptisms and parentage.

I believe Christoval was baptized Aug. 5, 1861 in Sagrario (Film 299422), son of Juan Garcia and Juana de Ulloa- He is Español. I found this baptism today. BUT, a Christoval Garcia was also allegedly baptized Jan. 9, 1688 in Aguas. He has different parents.

Getrudis Delgado Lopez was baptized Oct. 22, 1868 in Sagrario (Film 299422), daughter of Juan Delgado and Margarita Lopez. She is Española. But another Gertruds was born in 1679, daughter of Diego Delgado and Nicolasa Lopes.

Juan Delgado was baptized Aug. 1, 1647 (Sagrario, Film 299421) as son of Joseph Delgado and Francesca Garrai (aka Gabai y Tiscareno). And this couple, Jose Delgado and Francesca Tiscareno were married Aug. 30, 1644, and the rest his history, the famous Ruiz de Esparza line, the alleged Moctezuma/Cortez connection, and the pioneer Delgado line.

Does anyone have any links that I don't have. Does anyone know about the marriage of Christoval and Gertrudis? Thanks.

Important R1b news

This past weekend there was they had the 9th Annual International
Conference on Genetic Genealogy and some of what has been said on forums
for a while is now an official stance on the origins of the R1b haplogroup
and it's spread into Western Europe including Spain.

He talked about P311 which is the parent of P312 and U106 and U152 which
are all found in our region of research. Many of your ancestors belongs to
these groups.

"Hammer says that in his opinion, he thought that if P311 is so frequent
and widespread in Europe it must have been there a long time.
*However, it appears that he and most everyone else, was wrong. *
The hypothesis to be tested is if P311 originated prior to the Neolithic
wave, it would predict higher diversity it the near east, closer to the
origins of agriculture. If P311 originated after the expansion, would be
able to see it migrate across Europe and it would have had to replace an
existing population.

Because we now have sequences the DNA of about 40 ancient DNA specimens,
Michael turned to the ancient DNA literature....This evidence supports a
recent spread of haplogroup R lineages in western Europe about 5K years
ago. This also supports evidence that P311 moved into Europe after the
Neolithic agricultural transition and nearly displaced the previously
existing western European Neolithic Y, which appears to be G2a."

http://dna-explained.com/2013/11/12/2013-family-tree-dna-conference-day…

He also talked about the movement of R1b from eastern Europe to western
Europe, which goes against the old Franco-Cantrabrian refugium.

"We are now talking about population movements without about the past 4,000
years. R1b appears in the Caucasus by the early Neolithic. By the end of
the Neolithic, it is still isolated to pockets in Eastern Europe. Then in
the Early-Mid Bronze age about 4500-4000 years ago, R1b was found in
central Europe. By about 4000-3500 years ago, R1b begins to reach western
Europe. In the Iron Age 3200-3000 years ago there was a period of
differentiation in centers of renewed expansion. It is possible that this
continued through the Iron Age and can be seen as recently as 2,000 years
ago. There is a lot left to be learned and the ancient DNA contribution
will be very large to determine the R1b overtaking of the Neolithic
chromosomes."

Here is a picture of the movement of P312 going west from east and the
subclade Z195, a child of P312 and DF27, showing up in France. From there
subclades of Z195 made their way into Spain.

http://www.ancestorcentral.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/8037.jpg

There is much more information in the blogs such as the only ancient
remains found in western Europe from 5,000 to 7,000 years ago belong to
haplogroups G2a, G2a3, I2a, F, and E1bibi. So those were there before R1b.

Armando

Juan Avila/Josepha Ximenes - Tlaltenango, ZAC

http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/Evie (bottom of page Juan Avila)

I am hoping for help with information in determining the parents of Juan Avila who married Josepha Ximenes. There is a marriage of Juan Salvador De Abila and Josepha Gregorio Ximenes in Tlaltenango, ZAC 10 Mar 1733. The dates appear to be very wrong for my Juan and Josepha who had children between 1714 and 1734 and yet I wonder where they fit in. Parents who married after having children? Parents of this Juan would be Juan De Abila and Francisca De Castro, Tlaltenango. However, on Petra's wedding document, the parents are listed as Juan De Abila Maldonado and Josepha Ximenes (Tlaltenango). I have spent time tracing the Maldonado connection only to wonder if I should be tracing the Avila-Castro connection. Thanks. Evie

Acevo Colonial Digital of Aguascalientes

Hi

I was wondering if anyone can get anything in the Arcevo Colonial Digital of Aguascalientes to work:

http://eservicios.aguascalientes.gob.mx/SEGGOB/acervodigital/bienvenido…

Several months ago, I could page through the list (although the links to the documents did not Work). Now I can't even go beyond the first page of hits. Even though I cannot get to the docs themselves, it still is interesting seeing what is there - and who is there - at a particular point in time.

Denise

Pinos Zacatecas 1680-1740: Ysabel Ruiz de Villasenor - Francisco Sanchez de la Mejorada - Mathias Gomez [de Sotomayor?]

Hola primos y primas,

I am researching my ancestors Francisco Sanchez de la Mejorada and Ysabel
Ruiz de Villasenor, who lived in Pinos, Zacatecas, 1680-1740. Francisco
Sanchez was born around 1685 in la Ciudad de San Luis Potosi, hijo natural
of Cristobal Sanchez and Francisca Narbais. I have them having four
children:

1. Josepha Mejorada Ruiz, b. 18 Apr 1698 en Pinos (Salitrillo), m. Diego
Delgado Gallegos, 16 Feb 1722, Pinos, Zacatecas.
2. Joaquin Sanchez de la Mejorada, b. 2 Apr 1699, Pinos (Salitrillo), m.
Juana Anastacia de la Puente, 10 Feb 1725, Venado, SLP.
3. Francisca Sanchez Ruiz, se caso con Juan Delgado Gallegos, 16 Oct
1719, Pinos, Zacatecas. Diego y Juan Delgado eran hijos de Juan Husebio
Delgado y de Pascuala Gallegos Cabrera.
4. Jose Francisco Sanchez de la Mejorada, b. 26 Nov 1703 en Pinos
(Salitre), m. Marina Gomez Tiscareno, 6 Oct 1721, Pinos, Zacatecas. Marina

He

I have nothing on Ysabel Ruiz, other than she dies some time before 6 Feb
1715, when Francisco Sanchez married for a second time to Margarita de
Cuevas. I have found an Ysabel Ruiz de Villasenor married to Mathias Gomez,
also in Pinos and around the same time frame. Francisco Sanchez was testigo
for the marriage for one of their children, so they knew each other. The
children of Mathias Gomez and Ysabel Ruiz de Villasenor are:

Maria
Xertrudes Sanches Narbais, 17 Jun 1706 en Pinos, Zacatecas. En su partida
nupcial, no sale el apellido de ella, dice que es de padres no conocidos;
Narbais? Hermana de Francisco Sanchez de la Mejorada?
2. Maria Gomez, nacio alrededor del 1689, m. Nicolas Castaneda, 5 Oct
1712 en Pinos, Zacatecas. Nicolas Castaneda era hijo de Antonio Castaneda
Vargas y de Thomasa de Carrion. Fueron testigos los Capitanes Antonio de
Gusman Prado y Esteban Munos de Pineda.
3. Juan Baptista Gomez, a. 1688; m. Catalina Bernarda Aguilar, 6 Feb
1715, Pinos.
conexion? QUESTION: there's a Josepha Francisca Aguilar and Joseph Ruelas
de Sotomayor, who are the parents of Jose Antonio Ruelas de Sotomayor, who
married Maria del Carmen Gomez on 11 Sep 1756 in Pinos: are they the same
persons? Gomez de Sotomayor=Ruelas de Sotomayor? And if that's the case,
where is the connection? Juana Gomez Ruiz, b. 10 Jul 1690, Pinos, Zacatecas.

Mathias Gomez died before 1697; Ysabel Ruiz de Villasenor could have
married Capitan Francisco Sanchez de la Mejorada in a second marriage, the
timelines fit, but I haven't found the information and I don't know if she
was a widow. Would any of you have any info on this? Is she the same Ysabel
Ruiz de Villasenor?

Tengo otras preguntas, a ver si alguien sabe algo:

I have some more questions, hopefully someone knows something:

El hijo de Mathias Gomez, Jose Gomez, lleva el apellido compuesto, "Gomez
de Sotomayor"; la esposa de Jose Francisco Sanchez era Marina Gomez
Tiscareno, hija de Nicolas Gomez y de Lorenza Tiscareno, tambien en algunos
documentos de sus hijos o nietos, la he visto citada como "Marina Gomez de
Sotomayor." Habra algun conexion entre ellos? Entre Mathias Gomez y
Nicolas Gomez? Y entre Gomez de Sotomayor y Ruelas de Sotomayor?

The son of Mathias Gomez, Jose Gomez, uses the compound surname "Gomez de
Sotomayor"; the wife of Jose Francisco Sanchez was Marina Gomez Tiscareno,
daughter of Nicolas Gomez and Lorenza Tiscareno Huerta, in a couple of her
children or grandchildren's documents, I've seen her listed as "Marina
Gomez de Sotomayor." Is there a connection between them? Between Mathias
Gomez y Nicolas Gomez? And between Gomez de Sotomayor y Ruelas de Sotomayor?

Help! Caldera lineage

Arturo and everyone else in the group.

I've been trying to enter my Caldera line using the information in the files by Susan Leniski. I'm having a problem with the time line between the births of the children of Pedro Cid Caldera and Ana Maria Carrillo. My interest is in their daughters Clara Cid and Ysabel Cid, I can't find a birth date that works for them. In fact I can't figure the date of birth for their father Pedro Cid Caldera!

The girls mother Ana Maria Carrillo must have been born abt 1600 and thats the problem. I can make Clara Cid Caldera work if she's born abt 1630 but Ysabel Cid Caldera and husband Clemente Acuna have their first child abt 1691 or so, and their last abt 1710.. How does that work???? HELP

Family Search Web Site Help

Hi Everyone, up until yesterday I was able to research images (microfilm) with my old google browser and windows xp. The images would open up already focused, even when moving the image. This morning, the Family Search part worked fine but my browser would not open images any longer. I was forced to download Google Chrome. My first time viewing images on Google Chrome.

Is it normal for the image to open unfocused and then gradually focus. Is there another browser that does not do this.It is very hard on the eyes after searching through hundreds of images when you have to wait for the focus.

Any advise would be appreciated on this issue.

Thank You
Ruben Rojas Delgado

introduction - de la Torre-Berumen Uribarren

Hi everybody! Hola!
First, let me say that I'm excited to be part of this community, and am
grateful that it exists. I look forward to collaborating and sharing my
research with other members here.

My name is Jose Luis de la Torre, Jr., and I'm interested in researching the
de la Torre family in particular, as well as my other ancestors. I don't
have many details yet as I'm just starting on my research, but I'll share
what I know so far about my family's roots on the de la Torre side.

>From what I know, my great-great grandfather was Francisco de la Torre, who
married Martina Velasco. They lived in Guadalupe, Zacatecas. I don't know
anything else about Francisco and his family, so I'm hoping to uncover more
in my research, and find out about his other descendants.

My great grandfather was Ygnacio de la Torre Berumen from Guadalupe,
Zacatecas, who married Maria Uribarren Velasco from Guanajuato, in 1899 in
Guadalupe, Zacatecas. Shortly after their wedding, they moved to hacienda
Canada Honda close to Aguasclientes. They lived in Aguascalientes between
1905 and 1922, then moved to San Luis Potosi. Sometime in the late 1920s,
Ygnacio moved his family to Nogales.

Of his children, three became Catholic priests. Francisco and Carlos de la
Torre became Jesuits, and I believe they spent most of their ministry in
Torreon, Coahuila. Ignacio de la Torre became a diocesan priest and served
in Nogales, Sonora most of his life. My grandfather was Luis de la Torre,
who married Carmen Mercedes Ruiz de Chavez y Alvarez Tostado. Of my
grandmother's family I know nothing, but that will be a future area of
research.

Over thanksgiving I managed to find a copy of _Filigranas, Fundaciones y
Genealogias, Tepetongo, Zacs._ by Jose Leon Robles de la Torre, and scanned
most of it. I've posted the de la Torre family tree from his book at:
http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/18246. While it has a lot of
valuable information, unfortunately I can't place my great-great
grandfather, or great-grandfather, on the tree. I hope it will be useful to
others. Hopefully one day I can find the connection from my family tree to
Jose Robles's. It would seem that the de la Torres from Tepetongo, ZAC
would be related to the ones from Guadalupe, ZAC, but I guess one may have
to go farther up on the trees to see the connections.

Yours truly,
Jose Luis

Help with Marriage Document

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1942-20396-52980-30?cc=1860831…

Looking for help with this marriage document to make sure I'm getting any important information. There doesn't appear to be anything additional for 1876 marriages at Purisima del Rincon, so I wanted to be sure I'm getting what's provided here. It appears to me that it states Atanasio had resided in Atotonilco el Alto for 5 years prior to the marriage (which is where I have him in near the turn of the century), but I'm unclear if it indicates if he is originally from Purisima or if information is provided about his parents origins. My Spanish is VERY limited. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, Alejandro

Francisco Velasco y Maria Ceron de Hidalgo, Mexico

I am trying to continue my family line of Velasco. I found the marriage record of Francisco Velasco and Maria Ceron (married Nov 19, 1636 in Mixquiahuala, Hidalgo.)It was under Bautizos 1632-1644 (Image 47) I need help in reading the document. I believe it says that Francisco is "nacional de la ciudad de Sevilla." First of all am I reading the city as Sevilla correctly and does that mean that he is originally from Spain. His parents are listed as Antonio Velasco and Maria de Arce. I looked for them under Sevilla and could not find any marriage info on them. Any help grealy appreciated.
Thanks,

Dear Primos and Friends:

May your heart and life be filled with gratefulness for your many blessings of family and friends. The six-hour documentary, Latino Americans has surely given visibility to our varied, yet connected histories. We have leaders whose stories were finally told; but we have thousands of others who have dedicated their lives, to nurturing and uplifting those around them, whose stories have not been told. I invite you all to do so.

You may want to interview your parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, or someone who has made an impact on your life, someone who taught you a skill, or shared a value, or concept which has guided you. I invite you all to send in your thoughts. We are not looking at or for writing skills, we are looking for stories reflecting us, Latino Americans, in all our diversity.

In this issue you will see one of the changes which 2014 will bring:
CUENTOS, personal, first hand family stories will be scattered throughout the issues, based on where the incidences took place. I was hoping that it would increase networking and help stir familiar memories.

I have also included a category of FICTION/NON-FICTION for those that would like to share stories based on true experiences, but with adjustments or additions for more dramatic impact or privacy. Louis F.
Serna, sent a page from the journal of a fictitious Spanish soldier, My Days as a Colonist/Soldier with Don Juan de Onate - Part 1 by Louis F.
Serna.

Each of us may think that we do not have enough personal stories to write a book, but we all have some memories that are special to us, for some reason. That reason may touch someone else's heart, and uplift them. For the December issue, I invite you all to send a personal Christmas memory via an email. . . length, a half a page to 3 pages, who, what, when.

God bless, Mimi

Jalpa Zac Matrimonios, 1819-1827 and other years

I've uploaded an Excel file containing marriage records for Jalpa that are NOT available on familysearch.org, for the years 1819-27 and 1685-1712 (part).

http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/filemanager/active?fid=4448

The file was provided to me by the city historian, Hector Pasqual Gomez Soto.

I have not had any success finding a copy of the source, "Manual de Archivística Eclesiástica" (1998) by Ramón Aguilera Murguía and Jorge Garibay Alvarez, published by the Universidad Pontificia de México. Does anyone have suggestions about obtaining a copy? Maybe someone near UC Berkeley or Mexico City can scan the book?

Thanks,
Arturo G

Juan Jph. Gregorio DeAnda and Maria de Jesus Peres

My 3rd Great grandfather Juan Joseph Gregorio DeAnda married Maria de Jesús Peres June 3, 1782 in Encarnación de Díaz, Jalisco. On their marriage document (Image 49) it states that Maria de Jesús Peres parents are Jose Casillas and Gertrudis Romo de Vivar. The marriage of Jose Casillas and Gertrudis Romo is dated April 26 1779 in Jalostotitlan Jalisco. (Image 524) I must have the wrong set of parents because the dates don’t make sense. I have not been able to find another set of parents with the same names nor have I found Maria de Jesus Peres baptismal record. I would greatly appreciate any info that would help me resolve this dilemma.
