Saucedo's of Teocaltiche, Jalisco

I'm stuck on this couple, Xptoval Saucedo & Feliciana De Udabe who should have been married between 1705-1712 in Teocaltiche. I cant find a marriage for them, it looks like the marriage records for this time frame are missing. Does anyone have any info on the marriage or ancestors of this couple? Here is what I have on them and their eight children;

Christoval Saucedo died 1742 married to Feliciana de Udabe died 1745
--Francisco Saucedo Bap. 1713
--Ysidro Caietano Saucedo Bap.1715, m. Antonia Feliciana Yanez
--Juan Zacarias Saucedo Bap. 1748, m. Margarita Ruiz
--Joseph Antonio Saucedo Bap. 1726, m. Maria de los Dolores Lopez de Nava
--Maria de los Dolores Saucedo m. Juan Rovalcava
--Santiago Saucedo m. Manuela de la Asencion Rovalcava
--Juana Maria Saucedo m. Nicolas Rovalcava
--Maria Antonia San Joseph Saucedo m. Augustin Raphael Lopes

Is it possible that the marriage records for this time frame are somewhere else? Any suggestions at all will help. Thanks.

Genealogy Tool Kit Published by Foundation for the National Archives

WASHINGTON, April 18, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Step-by-Step Guide to Family Research at the National Archives

The Foundation for the National Archives announces the publication of the Genealogy Tool Kit: Getting Started on Your Family History at the National Archives, written by National Archives genealogy archives specialist John P. Deeben.

This 160-page step-by-step guide was published by the Foundation and launched in April 2012 to coincide with the celebration of the National Archives' release of the 1940 U.S. Census. The Foundation has long supported research at the National Archives, including its annual support of the Archives' Genealogy Fair, and the development of genealogy products such as this Tool Kit and other archival and research-oriented items.

The Genealogy Tool Kit will help family researchers of all levels of experience to explore how their ancestors interacted with the Federal Government over the course of their lives. Did they enter the United States from a foreign country? Apply to become an American citizen? Enlist in a regiment during a particular war? File for a patent, homestead, or pension?

Through such questions, and many more, the Genealogy Tool Kit helps genealogists to navigate the records at the National Archives, from census and naturalization records to military and federal land grant records. With checklists to track the readers' progress, family trees to fill in as ancestors are discovered, and room for taking notes, the Tool Kit will also serve as researchers' own record of their family history research project.

The Genealogy Tool Kit also includes the personal discovery stories of Archivist of the United States David S. Ferriero, documentary filmmaker Ken Burns, and author and journalist A'Lelia Bundles, as well as inspirational accounts from several other family historians.

The Tool Kit is available for purchase in the Archives Shop in Washington, DC, over the phone at 202-357-5271, or via email at nationalarchivesstore@nara.gov

Canuta Padilla Gallo Research Digest, Vol 40, Issue 11

Me

no Atanacio.
Bueno gracias
por su ayuda en este asunto.

Nochistlan-Bautismos 1870-1876-Errores

This is just a heads up to anyone doing research in Nochistlan but specific to film # 226675, Bautismos 1870-1873, it's full of errors, listing the wrong names or surnames at least 20-30 % of the time so make sure to double check off of other records the surnames of the grandparents or even for that matter of the parents. Too many mistakes to list!!
I wish I could write and notify someone to make the corrections but I guess I'm at least 140 years too late.

Enrique Agraz

Discussion on Guadalaja Dispensas at NGGS 2012

Hello all,
As some of you may know, I will be doing a presentation on the Guadalajara Dispensas project at the upcoming 3rd Annual Nueva Galicia Genealogical Society Conference in Sacramento. http://www.nuevagalicia.net/

As I prepare the material, I'd like to hear from those NR members who will be in attendance. I'd like to know what YOU want to know about the Dispensas and the current extraction project at www.guadalajaradispensas.com

My goal is to give a general introduction on the Dispensas; what they are and how to access them, and plan to break down a dispensa document bit-by-bit to show what key data can be extracted from it.

I'd like to "open the floor" right now (so to speak) and take questions/comments from my peers here because there may be other concerns that I'm not thinking of at this time and I think we will all benefit from your input. I may be looking at a square, but it's actually an octagon!

Feel free to post your response here at NR. Disclaimer: I am open to suggestions but, due to time constraints, make no promises to incorporate them in the talk. For those of you not attending the NGGS conference, I will have a summary of my presentation available at my blog after the conference.

Saludos,
Claudia

Linda,

Your RootsWeb website is a fountain of information. I didn't see any Corvera/Corbera listings. I will check out the Cordero and Cabrera listings in hopes that my Corberas may be linked with these possible spelling variations...

I will continue to view your site for other surnames that appear in my family history search.

Once again thank you.. you have done a wonderful job in sharing your findings...

Entierros "humildes" and "de limosna"

Hi, I would like to know what the difference was between entierros "humildes" and entierros "de limosna". I have also seen in records, that people actually gave money to the church (fabrica de ? pesos) so that the corpse could stay buried for a couple of years. I have also seen that in the burial records of San Martin Hidalgo of the 1820s, next to the corpse's race (e.g. español, yndio, mulato) the priest would write initials, most notably P. next to yndios, mulatos, and some españoles, and A. or Ad. to españoles. Has anybody encountered these initials before in burial records?

We are also researching the name "Briones" - Altagracia Briones (B: abt.
1895, D: 1982).
Married Jose Antonio Escobedo.
Both probably from the Jalisco area.
We found information on several Altagracia Escobedos, but not the right
persons.
We are running into a dead end.
I would be interested in knowing anything you have in the Briones family
tree.

Familia Hurtado

saludos

Assistance with terminology

I have seen several death records from Asientos in the mid 1790s with a clause similar to "se entierro menor en fabrica de quatro pesos seis reales".

Other records are annotated "limosna," which I assume means the person was poor, and was buried without a donation or payment to the Church.

When I try a computer translation of this clause (such as with google), the result makes no sense.

Is this amount a donation, or is this what it cost to be buried by the Church.

George Fulton
