ESCOTOS/SANCHEZ-CARRANZA

Hello atodos, I was wondering if you could give a thought/opinion as what am thinking . I am trying to connect
A) Juan Escoto Tovar married to Maria Morales and (B)Juan Escoto Tovar married to Maria Ramirez or Arias de Valdez .I beleve (A) Juan Escoto Tovar is the father of (B) Juan Escoto Tovar.

(B) Juan Escoto Tovar and Maria Ramirez Or Arias de Valdez's
CHILDREN-and their PADRINOS
1) Fabiela Escoto born 20 of Nov.1713 San Juan de los Lagos-Image 53-PADRINOS-YGNACIO ESCOTO AND BEATRIS MORALES.
2) Felipe Escoto born 24 of june 1715 San Juan de Los Lagos-Image 73-PADRINO-JOSEPH ESCOTO.
3)Joachin Alberto Escoto born 22 of december 1723 SanJuan de Los Lagos-Image -238-PADRINO-NICOLAS MACIAS VALDEZ.
4)Juan Bautista Escoto born 18 of July 1726 San Juan de Los Lagos-Image- 302-MADRINA BEATRIS MORALES.
5)Manuel Escoto born 11 of January 1728 San Juan de Los Lagos-Image- 340-PADRINO-FELIPE ARIAS.
6)Alejandro Escoto born 31 of March 1730 San Juan de Los Lagos-image- 425-PADRINOS-JUANA RAMIREZ AND XRISTOBAL ARIAS BALDEZ.
7) Andres Escoto born 22 of December 1716 San Juan de Los Lagos-Image- 105-PADRINO-JOSEPH ESCOTO
PARENTS -NOTED FOR ANDRES WAS MARIA ARIAS AND JUAN ESCOTO
EVERYBODY BODY ELSE WAS MARIA RAMIREZ AND JUAN ESCOTO.

1) THE PADRINOS -YGNACIO ESCOTO MARRIED TO BEATRIS MORALES HAD A BROTHER NAMED JUAN ESCOTO TOVAR IN ADDITION HE IS MARRIED TO MARIA MORALES WHOM I BELIEVE IS BEATRIS MORALES SISTER OR COUSIN.
Based on the last names of some of the padrinos and Madrinas I beleve that A) Juan Escoto Tovar is the father of B) Juan Escoto Tovar married to Maria Ramiez.
2) If this true then the 2 Juan Escotos descend from Antonio Escoto Tovar and Inez Ortiz de Rodas.
3) Maria Morales ( wife of B) Juan Escoto)is the daughter of Jose or Cristobal Cervantes and Ysabel Sanchez Carranza-Granddaughter of Diego Sanchez Carranza and Ana Munoz.
I thank you for your thoughts

Any Archives of Names of Ships/Galleons that sailed from Europe to Mexico during the Colonial Era?

I am trying to find information about the names of ships/galleons that sailed from Europe and landed on the shores of Mexico during the colonial era. Does anyone know of any registry or archives that contain the names of ships with passenger lists?

I want to try to locate the name of the ship that contained the very first ancestor that came to Mexico during the colonial era.

I would assume that the Port of Veracruz, is where the ships landed and from there people traveled inside Mexico to their destination and Zacatecas.

Marriage: Help Civil record or Catholic Church records?

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to locate a marriage record from my Great( 3x) grandparents- Felicitas Magallanes and Cirilo (Sirilo) Alvarez married June 8, 1881 in Tlaltenango de Sanchez Roman, Zac.

As I am new to this, I have looked in the Catholic Church record with no luck. Here is the IGI listing:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JZXY-XPK

Should I be looking in the civil records or Catholic Church records? Also it lists the date of June 8, 1881 but in the church records there are several dates listed with each matrimonial recording. Any guidance on what to look for would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Pauline

Fernández de Palos in Tabasco, Zacatecas

Hello to everybody,

I'm new here and this is my first post. I'm very glad that I found what
seems like a nice and serious research group. I'm helping an uncle of mine
with the Ceballos genealogy. So far we've made it until Pedro José Ceballos
de Barreda, who was born in Teutitlán, obispado de Puebla (now Teotitlán
del Camino, Oaxaca), and who died around 1820 in Zapotlán El Grande, after
living in Tecalitlán, where his children were born. He was married to María
Teresa Fernández de Palos y Castañeda, who was born in Tabasco (I suspect
this is Tabasco, Zacatecas). She was the daughter of José Fernández de
Palos y Anna Castañeda. The fourth child of the couple, my direct line, was
born in 1795. This all we know, and we'd like to know the date (this must
be ca. 1785-1790) and place where they got married, and where were Anna's
fathers from. I know Fernández de Palos is a surname with a long history in
the region, so hopefully someone could helps us. Many thanks in advance,

Carlos Salgado Ceballos (Colima, México)

Ps. I did find in FamilySearch the record of the baptisms of María Josefa
del Carmen Fernández Castañeda (1747) and José Ignacio Fernando Fernández
Castañeda (1749), both children of Joseph Manuel Fernández de Palos and
Anna Josepha Castañeda. Are these María Teresa's parents and oldest
siblings?

Another Villalpando Aguascalientes-Leon connection

In the 20 Feb 1713, Asientos marriage of Marcos de Villalpando to Micaela Diaz de Leon, it states that he is from the "Villa de Leon." No parents are named, and few matrimonial investigations exist this early for Asientos; they were not found in those documents.

It is known that Tomas de Villalpando of Aguascalientes was originally from Leon, and that he had a brother named Marcos. Tomas married twice, and all his known children were born in either Aguascalientes or Asientos; he had no known son named Marcos.

A Marcos de Villalpando was the godfather, in 1706, for one of the children of Tomas de Villalpando (named Alexo de Villalpando in the record) and Maria Sotelo. This implies, but certainly does not prove, a familial relationship.

Marcos de Villalpando, brother of Tomas, married Maria Lopez on 16 May 1680, in Leon, but apparently left no descendants there, and apparently none in Aguascalientes.

Are these two Marcos's the same person? If so, he would be more than 60 years old when he married Micaela Diaz de Leon; not an impossible situation. Or, is Marcos who married in 1713 a son of the first Marcos?

At this time there is also the family of Diego de Villalpando and Ysabel Lozano de Gardea in Aguascalientes. I have not found a Marcos de Villalpando in this family, nor can I connect him (Diego) with Tomas.

I would appreciate the thoughts of the NR community on this family.

Busco la fecha de matrimonio de / Looking for the marriage date of Felipe Santiago Maldonado and Margarita Chaves

I am looking for the marriage date of Felipe Santiago Maldonado and Margarita Chaves in Poncitlán. The first of their 13 known children was born in San José de las Ornelas 17 October 1829.

As an aside, the direct-line ancestor I am looking for is María Leonór Maldonado, born about 1837; she is the only child of the 13 whose baptismal record I have not been able to locate.

Best wishes,

Dionisio Maldonado—I'm stuck!

I have been helping a friend with her Jalisco genealogy for about seven months, making use of the fabulous image collection of Registros Parroquiales that is online at FamilySearch.org, as well as the invaluable Dispensas that are online at GuadalajaraDispensas.com; however, there is the occasional frustration, and this is one: the IGI lists a Dionisio Maldonado, baptised 18 February 1868 in Poncitlán, FHL Film 224655.

Dates are rather mixed and chaotic on this film; but I have searched between images 125 and 150 and have not been able to locate this baptism. This situation has happened before, and it is highly frustrating.

Does anyone have Dionisio Maldonado in his or her database? Has anyone located this image online?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Help with my 2 Lomeli lines from Mexticacan Jal.

It seems like I have hit a roadblock in my research and would really appreciate help or a pointing to the right direction. I feel like I've exhausted every possibility on Familysearch. My first Lomeli is my direct paternal line.I cant seem to find anybody beyond Jose Rafael Lomeli (married to Maria Olaya Manriquez, late 1700's i would presume) father and mother to Jose Maria Lomeli born 1805(married to Maria Vidala Jauregui 1808).
My second Lomeli line comes from Maria Vidala Jauregui's mother Maria Paula Lomeli. Her father is Juan Angel Lomeli (1762)and his father was Gaspar de Lomeli(married to Marsela Casimira Marin). These lines are from Mexticacan Jalisco...possibly Nochistlan. It seems like many of my other family lines im tracing seem to blur or totally disappear in the mid or late 1700's.Im not an expert so any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you, Alejandro Lomeli El Paso, Tx

Help: Indice #10- what does that mean?

Hello Everyone,

I am very new to this group. Help Please!

I think I may have located my grandfather's christening at the Family Search >Mexico>Zacatecas>Momax (Bautizo). I found his name at the front of the book and it stated Delfino Alvarez Pag. 10. I went in to page 10, I searched under his birthdate too and could not find it.
How do I locate the record as stated in the index?
Here is the link:

Any advice greatly appreciated. I am so excited. :)

Hello
My name is Austin Perez and I am relatively new to genealogy. Although, I’ve long been interested in my roots, it’s only been within the past year that I’ve been able to advance my family tree beyond my bisabuelos...Family Search is fantastic! Many thanks to Nuestros Ranchos members for sharing your valuable knowledge, with my deepest gratitude to Claudia Reynoso for hard work indexing the Guadalajara dispensas!!!!

Best regards,
Austin Perez
