Welester,
I received my answer today from http://www.sedena.gob.mx regarding my grandfather and his relatives who fought in the Revolucion:
They said: "Se le informa que no se localizaron documentos que contengan la informacion que solicita".
Attached was a .jpg photo of a letter from the Secretaria del la Defensa Nacional signed by El Subdirector General de Archivo e Historia, General Brigadier D. E. M. Homero Mendoza Ruiz.
He lost me after listing the names of my relatives. Can you translate the last part starting with "por los en caso--". please? I think they are asking for more info, but I gave them all I had, which was their names, their birthdates, where they came from, and the year the left Mexico for the US.
Thanks,
Emilie

Good Evening All, I've never seen a priest named as padrino before, but could it be because I'm new to this? Have others come across this? A priest wouldn't be expected to personally raise a female child if something were to happen to the parents. Culturally, the padrino's obligation isn't limited to spriruality alone, is it? It's not just idle curiousity, as the entry I refer to is that of my maternal grandmother, Agustina Santelices, who along with her younger sister, Maria Dolores, were later orphaned. I'd appreciate opinions/experience on this subject from all. Thank you for your help. Alice B Blake
In going through the Informacion Matrimonial for Aguascalientes, 1711, I found another child for Thomas de Villalpando and Maria de Vargas. He is Nicolas de Alexos Villalpando, from Asientos, age 33 (thus born about 1678). He may have been the first child born to Thomas and Maria; there is no baptismal record for him. His bride-to-be is Francisca de Zalas, daughter for Juan de la Rocha and Maria de Zalas; she is from Sombrerete.
I did not find a marriage for them in either Aguascalientes or Asientos. However, there is a Maria Ysavel de Villapando, daughter of Nicolas Villalpando and Francisca de Salas, who married Simon Vasquez, in Santa Maria de los Lagos, 28 Nov 1746. I have not yet looked at this film (0221514). I did not find a record for her birth, or that of any other children for Nicolas and Francisca.

Carlos,
I just heard from Jaime's son. He says he is not aware that his father left any copies of his manuscript with anyone, and he is waiting to hear from you directly. He says his father, during his illness and hospitalization, never mentioned turning over any copies of his manuscript to anyone for publishing.
Young Jaime said the family has the original manuscript plus pictures to go into it, and that they are close to completing the project, so they will not give permission to anyone outside the family to publish anything written by Jaime Holcombe Isunza.
Young Jaime said what is left to be done is to proofread their corrected Word document (taken from a hand-typed original done on typewriter by a cousin in Zacatecas) and compare it to the original book his father left. He said the family has already lined up and paid a designer. Jaime's brother Jorge and the rest of the family are also anxious to see Jaime's wishes come to a reality. We may see something soon, God willing.

I completed the transcriptions of Aguascalientes christening records
up to 1752. These records (1726-1752) were from la hacienda de
Santiago de Guadalupe, feligresía de la Villa de Aguascalientes. After
that, the films continue with records from San Miguel de los Albas.
After doing a few of these I found no family connections in San
Miguel, so I have abandoned those transcriptions and do not plan to
continue them. The transcriptions are complete as far the Santiago
group goes.
I have uploaded the entire file 1726-1752, with some minor
corrections. I don't know if I uploaded it right or not, as I can't
find it yet. My THANKS to Angelina Markle for enhancing the format of
the earlier submissions. If you want to do the same with the master
file, it would be appreciated.
I don't seem to be able to find the natural continuation of these
transcriptions. The next group for Santiago starts in 1662 after a
10-year gap. Maybe they're under Sagrario or maybe they don't exist.
Still looking. Meanwhile, I'm processing some less complete selected
transcriptions done by my father-in-law. Eventually, I'll resume some
more transcriptions of my own and post them as before.
I also have a question. My entire database, using "The Master
Genealogist" program, contains to date about 19000 persons and more
than 71000 detailed source citations. The program is highly
customized, so the only way to see everything is with The Master
Genealogist. However, it makes a fairly good export to PAF via GEDCOM.
The PAF file that results is about 28 Megabytes with details for
living persons suppressed. I hesitate to share it because it contains,
as everybody's database does, some un-proven junk. I would appreciate
any feedback about whether to upload it.
One other item. Thank you George Fulton for your Aguascalientes
Matrimonial Information Extractions 1600's. I expect to find
these useful.

Hi, Carlos,
I have contacted Jaime's son in Mexico City, and so has Arturo, our webmaster. The son also is supposedly a member of this group. The son told me he is going to publish his father's last project that he was working on when he died, but that he and his siblings are not interested in genealogy to the extent that their father was, and they are tied down earning a living. What was sad to hear was that his father's papers are all molding and bug-ridden in a storage room in his wife's house somewhere. I will try and find that e-mail address I had for the son, I think his name is Jaime also, and send it to you later.
Thanks much,
Emilie

Phelipe Ortiz was son of Pedro Ortiz and Catalina Ramirez. He married Josepha de Avila, daughter of Luis de Avila and Clara de Amaia (also as Anaya) on 26 April 1643 in Aguascalientes. I will appreciate additional information on Pedro Ortiz and Catalina Ramirez and on Luis de Avila and Clara.

My maternal grandparents were from the Huejucar, Las Bocas area. This is what I know: Nicolas Flores, DOB abt 12/12/1885, Huejucar, Jalisco married Ignacia Haro DOB: 7/31/1892 in Huejucar, Jalisco. They were married 5/2/1908. I have a copy of the marriage entry. Nicolas' father was Bruno Flores and his mother Damasa Carillo. I approximate Bruno birthdate around 1870. Other children of Bruno and Damasa were Ignacio and Maria Zenona. Ignacia Haro's parents were Gorgonio (de) Haro and Vicenta Romero. Other children of Gorgonio and Vicenta were Rosa, Manuel, Felicitas, Felipe, Miguel, and Trinidad. Any additional information would be much appreciated.

Estimados Colisteros,
On this day in 1587, Virginia Day became the first child of English parents to be born on American soil in what is now Roanoke Island in the State of North Carolina.
Is it known when the first descendant of Spanish parents was born in what is now Mexico? ... and who that child was?

OK, I've almost given up on this GEDCOM "thingee". Although I can read them (as a guest); how can I be a contributor on it. PLEASE don't tell me I have to buy different software. My Family Tree software is fully capable to convert to GEDCOM files at a mouse-click.
In addition, I cannot read other people's FILES because I don't have MicroSoft Word; please don't tell me I have to buy it for a few hundred bucks.
Access should be avaiable to ALL NuestrosRanchos members. Are you reading this, Primo Joseph Puentes?

thank you so much for your help.? When I offered to do some genealogy for a friend I didn't realized it would be so complicated. I can now start with his fathers side and work
?my back.? Blas Cruz Cruz was born to Eduardo Cruz and Rosario Cruz.? That is all he knows about that side of the family.? I have felt a little guilty because it was hard to find
any information but I am sure I am looking right at his family on familysearch.org and don't even know it because we dont know enough.? His mother's side of the family is Chinese and Mexican.? Her mother's name was Martha Garcia and all the information we have is the fact that she was born in Veracruz, Mexico. Her father was Carlos Ham and emigrated from China.? I found him listed in the 1930 census but he was married to someone else.? There was only one Carlos Ham listed in Campeche, Mexoico, could this be him?? Carlos father Francisco Ham also came to Mexico.? His wife was Maria Long but not on the 1930 census.? I found her name associated with another Ham on a ships passenger list.? My friend is adamant about the fact that Carlos was an only child but I found 5 other Ham's who came out from China, could they also be related.? I would like to be able to give my friend something.? He hardly knows any thing about his family background. Where I can go back to the 1400's in Eng
land on several sides of my family.
