Need Help Accessing Zacatecas Church Records on familysearch

I am having difficulty accessing Zacatecas Church records on familysearch.
I haven't tried to do so in a long time, and lost my bookmarks when I got a
new computer. I can find Jalisco without a problem, but only see a Civil
Records for Zacatecas. What am I missing?

Thanks for the assistance!

Advances in R1b DNA

Over the past few years with 1000 Genomes, citizen scientists, and Geno 2.0
testing new discoveries have been made with Y-DNA especially with R-M269.

It turns out that a majority of people from Mexico and Spain that are
R-M269 are positive for an SNP marker called P312 and a majority of them
are positive for DF27 and markers below that SNP. Being terminal DF27 is
very rare and most are also positive for a marker below that. A minority of
Mexican and Spanish R-M269 are positive for U106.

You can see the P312 and the DF27 trees in the following links -

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17907527/R1b-P312_Descendency_Tree…

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17907527/R1b-DF27_Descendency_Tree…

If you are R-M269 and you want to find out if you are U106 or P312 and
below then you can get a $199 Geno 2.0 test or you can get individual SNP
tests. The cheaper route is with individual SNP tests but you could also
run into a wall by the time $199 in individual tests are done but you get
to choose how many tests you want to get and limit your spending or stretch
it out over a year or two. The fastest and most complete route is with the
Geno 2.0 test.

To get an individual SNP test log into your FTDNA account then select
Orderan Upgrade on the top right then click on
Order an Advanced Test then Test Type then SNP then type P312, or the
desired SNP, then click on FIND then click ADD then NEXT then fill out your
info and so on.

No he podido encontar nada sobre Barbara tampoco.

A caso alguien sabe si quiza tenga razon?

Bárbara Romo is most likely María Bárbara Eugenia Romo Moran, born 11 December 1740 in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, México. In other words, these two Bárbara’s are possibly the same person. If this is the case, that would make Bárbara Romo daughter of Matías Pastor Romo de Vivar Lomelín (born March 1712) and María de Sanjuan Moran de Ledesma , married on 16 May 1737 in the Roman Catholic Church of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores in Teocaltiche, Jalisco, México. This is my theory on Bárbara Romo’s true identity and origin.

: accessed 27 Sep 2014), Calvillo > Señor San José > Matrimonios 1854-1874 > image 363 of 555.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11776-5046-0?cc=1502404&wc…

Family Tree from familysearch.com

I just found out the hard way that anyone can change, delete, merge and add people to the free version of Family Tree from familysearch.

Someone merged my tree with theirs and It erased about 900 ancestors and 3 to 5 generations. I am so glad I keep another tree on ancestry.com and a Gedcom File in three different laptops for backup updating weekly.

Although I love familysearch for research, I was not aware that others can change your tree and erase years of research.

Help with deciphering an Ejutla record

Hi everyone,

I've been trying to figure a few things on a marriage record on my own to no avail.
The record is #173. Here is the link. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18567-2737-28

1. There is an abbreviation after the name of the groom's mother that I can't read. Her name is Ma. Simona Araiza (pcto.?). Has anyone else seen this abbreviation? Any idea what it means?

2. There is also the bride's mother's name that I can't fully make out. I think it might be Lorenza Gertrudis Florencia. Is Florencia a given name or her surname? The summary on the side of the record shows a different surname than the one shown in the body of the record. I can't make it out, but it doesn't look like Florencia.

3. It states Jose Eufracio Araiza is from Ixtlapuacan. I researched this and couldn't find it. I did find some Ixtlahuacan locations. There is an Ixtahuacan del Rio and Ixtahuacn de los Membrillos that are closer to Guadalajara. I also found an Ixtlahuacan de Santiago, but that is in Union de Tula. Has anyone heard of Ixtapuacan?

Any help is greatly appreciated. :)

Some of you are related to Clovis Anzick-1

I thought that some of you might be very interested in this fact.

The DNA of a 12 year old child buried about 10,620 B.C. in western Montana http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v506/n7487/full/nature13025.html was uploaded to Gedmatch. Some of you that have uploaded your DNA to Gedmatch show to be a match to this child.

The study had already shown that the child was more closely related to Mexican Indians but how close is the real surprise.

The person that uploaded the DNA has a post on his site at http://www.fc.id.au/2014/09/clovis-anzick-1-dna-match-living-people.html

If you want to see if you match the Clovis Anzick-1 individual log in to Gedmatch then go to 'One-to-one' compare then put your Gedmatch account number in the Kit Number 1: field then put F999912 in the Kit Number 2: field then click on submit.

1700's and 1800's Adoptive Children

Reading thru church marriage records from the 1700's and 1800's, I find myself wondering who could of adopted children that had no parents. I have seen plenty of marriage records which read "hijo adoptivo" or "hija adoptiva".

My question is:

Would these children most likely be adopted by the "Padrinos" or would they be taken in by immediate relatives.

I have a marriage document for one of my ancestors that indicates that he was and adopted child and he went on to carry the adoptive mothers surname and not the adoptive fathers surname.

Is there any chance that a male adopted child would take on the mothers surname (adoptive mother) instead of the adoptive father so as to continue his "real" surname.

This action makes me wonder if his adoptive mother (aunt, madrina etc) was directly related to his real father and therefore made it easier for him to carry his real surname.

How common was adoption during the 1600's, 1700's and 1800's ?

Were padrinos held responsible for fulfilling their obligation of taking care of a child that lost his parents?

Why does a marriage record of an adopted child not indicate that the parents were "difuntos" and list the parents by name and then list the adoptive parents by name.

This kind of leads me to believe that the child lost his parents at a very very young age and it was best to honor and list the adoptive parents who raised the child from birth.

If the child was an illegitimate child the marriage record would say "padres no conocidos". Right?

Hope someone can shed some light on this topic

Help Printing

Can someone please help me out?  I used to be able to isolate and print specific entries from any page on Familysearch.
Since the new format, I'm now unable to even print a full page, much less a specific entry.  What am I doing wrong?  Help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much.

Primos,

I found a copy of the 2nd edition of this book at Harvard University Libraries in Cambridge and will be viewing it next week. I can't check it out, but will have access to a scanner and copier.

If you are interested in information from this book, let me know and I will do my best to look for and scan anything I find. I will only be there for one week, so let me know as soon as you can so I can write it down in my notes.

Regards,

Typical programs on computers like "Snipit", "Printscreen", etc. should be able to capture pieces or all of the information you are seeing on the screen.

Can anyone tell me if it is still possible to zoom in on a document page and only print the entry you're interested in?
I used to do it all the time, but don't seem able to anymore.
Thanks for your help.

Digitized historic archive.

I found by accident the website of the Centro de Estudios de Historia de Mexico Carso, owned by Carlos Slim, and it has a large colection of digitized documents and photographs. I'm still browsing through the website, but I have seen there are some collections about Nueva Galicia and the war of independence. The site is:

Cuesta Blanca, Aguascalientes?

I am currently working on my Pompa line out of Calvillo that has always been a mystery. One of those ancestors that suddenly appear out of nowhere. *Alien spaceship ancestors, as I call them* Would anyone know where Cuesta Blanca is? My Prudenciano Pompa came from there. He does have a sister that according to her marriage document states she was from Guanajuato. I have not been able to find neither of their baptisms. Their mother was a Hernandez from Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes. I have traced her line already as it appears I am now related to two Hernandez brothers.

Thanks

Does anyone know about the rancho Las Navajas at Tala, Jalisco?

My ancestor Fernando Javier Rivera y Moncada bought the ranch in the 1700s. I would like to know if anyone knows if there is a cemetery on the property or if that would be the incorrect thing to do? Did people bury all people in churches or cemeteries or did they have private cemeteries?
