Estimada Patty,

Tu primo,
Daniel

Is this couple Jose Maria Alvarez and Maria Francisca Campos? If so, they were married 25 Aug 1836 in Tlaltenango de Sanchez Roman, ZAC (image #558 in marriages for 1821-40). This names their parents, and notes there was a dispensation for second degree consanguinity. They might be first cousins!

I have seen cases where the first names of the women vary a bit: Ana Francisca could be the same as Maria Francisca; she could have been known as Maria, Ana, or Francisca in various records. Since the birth records name the grandparents, this would tend to prove that she used various names

If this is true, which I suspect it might be, then there is a fair amount of information in the Tlaltgenango de Sanchez Roman and Momax, Zacatecas records.

Jose and his bride were actually first cousins (they are both grandchildren of Antonio Campos and Eufracia Castaneda.

Briefly, the records I found are:

Marriage record for Jose Maria Alvarez (s/o Juan de Dios Alvarez and Maria Rafaela Campos) and Maria Francisca Campos (d/o Francisco Campos and Ana Maria Cornejo), 25 Aug 1836, Tlaltenango de Sanchez Roman

I found baptismal records for three children of theirs:
(1) Lorenso Hipolito y Caciano, chr 10 Aug 1837, Momax, ZAC (image 176); grandparents are as listed in his parents marriage record
(2) Pedro, died within about 1 year, Momax
(3) Senon Paulino de Sta Agripina, chr 23 Jun 1839, Momax

Ana Maria Alvarez d/o Juan de Dios Alvarez and Maria Rafaela Campos chr 7 May 1808, Tlaltenango de Sanchez Roman. Grandparents: Antonio Alvarez/Prudencia Rita Serrano and Anton/Campos/Eufracia Castaneda. (film for 1800-1809 image 500)

Maria Francisca Campos was chr 28 Mar 1814, Momax (film 1811-14, image 44), d/o Francisco Campos and Anna Cornejo; grandparents, Antonio Campos/Eufracia Castaneda and Rafael Cornejo/Rita Carlos

This is not all the information available for these families, but it is enough to give you the basic relationships.

The fact that Jose and his bride are first cousins is unusual, as this is not something that a dispensation is commonly given for!

I used the old family search website for the indexes, and then went to the digitized films for the Zacatecas towns on the new website. Since the records for these towns appear pretty good, you may be able to go back farther.

Thank you so much for this info! I have been stuck for years with this couple. I have never been able to find either of their parents and you have solved this for me. I am so very grateful. Will I be able to find this same info of the grandparents on familysearch? I live in Ohio and all our films must be ordered from one of the branches of the LDS Church. Senon Paulino would be my fathers' 4th great grandfather who married a Maria Campos. Senon or Paulino, as some of his records call him, also had a son, named Rafael Alvarez, married to Viviana Alva Valensuela. I have never been able to find his documents for his birth or christening. This couple had a son, Melecio or Melecio Alvarez who would have been my grandfather and my fathers father. My father, Amador Alvarez, was the son of Melecio Alvarez and Sara Campos Mota. I have not been able to find birth or christening record or death records for Melecio or Rafael. Would you be able to search for these names for me? I
f not it is alright. Perhaps you could tell me where I might be able to search for them. Thanks again, you have cracked the mystery of Jose Alvarez and Ana or Francisca Campos for me!!

Warm regards,
Carol (Campos) Lester

Hello again George
This idea of first cousins and second cousins not getting dispensations has been shown to be a little bit of a problem. some brick walls that people have are because the groom and bride were related in this degree and only their silence on this matter allowed them to get married. Some times after they were married and had kids they suddenly discovered they were related. That happened in the Cervantes line. cousins marrying without a dispensation. They tried to hide the fact but it came out in the open in three situations, first at the wedding one of the fathers admitted that they were cousins but did not say primo hermano, just primos, Second, In a family tree where they did not list their children the grandfathers were listed as brothers, third a when false family tree that was created to show that Miguel Cervantes was closely related to them through the Cervantes line, it showed the grandfathers as brothers but falsely included Miguel's grandfather as a sibling.
it turns out that Miguel Cervantes is related to him but not closely, at least not through the Cervantes. It looks as he is related to them through a great great grandmothers of the Cervantes that was a conversa whose father was well known and financially well off and encouraged his converso children to marry old Christians. Miguel Cervantes, himself tried to hide his converso background.
Some genealogist have stated that There could be a relationship through Miguel Cervantes's maternal grandfather but no one knows who he is and only speculated in attempt to explain why Cervantes includes Saavedra in his last name.

Hi Sylvia,

Welcome to the group, I also have Antonio de Castaneda, but on my maternal side. He would be my 8th Great Grandfather. I saw your link and we share the Castaneda last name up until Rosalia Castaneda (born 1745 in Tlaltenango)my 5th Great Grandmother.
Again, welcome to the group and bye for now.

Greetings,
My name is Thomas Huizar and I have been trying to research my grandfather's lineage for several years now. He has passed since 1969 so it's difficult to obtain much information. Most of my information has come from my uncles and some from Ancestry.com.

My grandfather's name is Aniceto Huizar Miramontes and he is from Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico. Some records indicate Cartagenas, Jalisco, Mexico as well. I know that those two areas are next to each other. My grandfather married Isaac Molina in 1930 (Pasadena, Ca. USA). His father's name was Rumualdo Huizar Dias. Rumualdo's father's name was Feliciano Huizar and he was married to Silvana Dias.

Since I've joined this group, I learned that my great-great-grandfather/mother Felicano Huizar and Silvana Dias had several children (Rumualdo Huizar b.-1862, Victoriana
Huizar b.-1863, Paula Huizar b.-1864, Jose Merced Huizar b.-1870, Abundio Huizar b.-1876, Maria Serferina Huizar b.-1878, and Cecilia Huizar.

Looking forward with sharing and exchanging information with you all.

Hi Sylvia,
Welcome to Nuestros Ranchos. Hopefully you will be able to make more progress. You'll find this is a very open and helpful community, where sharing information is built into the DNA.

I am interested to find out where your search of your Maternal Gonzalez line leads. I have a direct link to Teul in my paternal Gonzalez line (Simon Gonzalez b~1830), and I suspect other links to Tlaltenango via a distant (possible) great-grandmother Efigenia Gonzalez Llamas b~1701.

Simon Gonzalez Casillas married Valeriana Gonzalez Castro in 1865. Valeriana was born in 28 Apr 1834 to Juan Isidro Gonzalez Miramontes and Bonificia Castro Valera. The farthest I can track Valeriana's Gonzalez line is to Juan Gonzalez (b~1650) married to Cecilia Sandoval:
http://www.arturogonzalez.com/OurFamilies/persons/person2799.html

I am not aware of Simon being related to Valeriana. He was born in La Villita near Jalpa to Jose Maria Gonzalez and Juliana Casillas. He seems to be the only Gonzalez from my paternal line that moved to El Teul.

But as many of Simon's ancestors had connections to Tlaltenango and El Teul, it is likely that there are family links that I haven't identified. For instance, one that keeps me scratching my head is the marriage of Alejo "Covarrubias" and Efigenia Gonzalez Llamas on 12 Dec 1723 in Tlaltenango (Simon's great-grandfather). For some reason, Alejo said his natural father was Vicente Covarrubias (mother: Catarina Venegas) in the wedding investigation, but not at the wedding ("padres no conocidos") , then "Gonzalez" at his first daughter's baptism, and then at a later date he states his father was Sebastian Gonzalez (mother Catarina Venegas). Did he say his father was Vicente Covarrubias to avoid having to get a dispensation because he was related to Efigenia Gonzalez Llamas?? I have yet to find the marriage of Joseph Gonzalez and Juana Llamas Robles (daughter of Nicolas Llamas and Magdalena Robles) to help answer this question. All this to say that you and I seem to share similar last names in the same general area, so there might be a connection or two to uncover.

Best of luck!

Laura,
The information means something to me!
According to my information Nicolas Llamas and Magdalena Robles were born around 1650 since their daughter Juana Llamas Robles was born on 26 Jan 1671. Juana married Joseph Gonzalez, and their daughter Efigenia Gonzalez Llamas was born 1701, according to Efigenia's marriage investigation (Tlaltenango Informacion Matrimonial 1701-1724, Film 443843, Image 466).

Do you know when Rafael Llamas Robles was born?

The children that I have for "my" Nicolas Llamas and Magdalena are:
Dorotea Llamas Robles
Mariana Luisa Gertrudis Llamas Robles
Nicolas Llamas Robles
Rosa Maria Llamas Robles
Mateo Llamas Robles
Juana Llamas Robles
Isabel Llamas Robles

Nicolas' death is recorded on 20 Jun 1718 in Tlatlenango Burials 1718, Film 443978, Image 165.

I'm also connected to Nicolas & Magdalena thru Gaspar Sandoval Guzman, who married Mariana Luisa Gertrudis Llamas Robles.

Do you know who the parents of Joaquin Gonzales are?

Hello,

My name is Paige and I'm a new member. I'm interested in learning about my grandmother and great grandmother's family from Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes. I'm not sure where to begin. I've realized over the last several days reading posts that everyone here is far more advanced than I am. I know very little other than what I learned from my great grandmother. I know her parents are Pablo Villalobos and Pilar Ortiz that were married in El Paso, Texas on November 23rd, 1921. Pablo Villalobos was born in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes on March 22nd, 1891 and Pablo Villalobos parents are Onofre Villalobos and Juana Torres from Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes. I apologize I don't have more information. My great grandmother told me that Juana Torres's mother was named Filomena, I don't know her last name. She also told me that she thinks Onofre's father was named Zenon Villalobos. If anyone has any tips that might assist me or if you may be related to any of these families please le
t me know.

Thank you and I apologize I couldn't provide more information,

Paige

Paige,

First of all, welcome to the group.
I did a basic search on familysearch.org and found the marriage information for Onofre Villalobos & Juana Torres .... here is the link https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JHLX-F7H

Groom: Onofre Villalobos
Bride: Juana Torres
marriage dated 11 feb 1885
groom’s parents: Zenon Villalobos & Librada Medina
bride’s parents: Narciso Torres & Filomena Hernandez

I don’t know if you have any experience using FamilySearch.org ... it is really a very good source of information. I will try to find the original document on-line for the record on the link I’m sending you.

Hola Primo ,how are you ? Well I hope. I wanted to know which Escoto y Tovar Line do you descend from. I descend from Ygnacio Escoto y Tovar( and Beatriz Morales).

Hi there Ronnie, long time no talk. Went through a slump but I am OK, now.

Indeed I descend from Antonio de Escoto y Tovar and his wife Inés Ortiz de Rodas. They had 11 children between 1637 and 1661. I descend from Diego de Escoto y Tovar (bap. 29 JUL 1653, in Santa María de los Lagos, Lagos de Moreno) married to Juana Alvarez de Ullóa y Mendoza [daughter of Antonio Alvarez de Ullóa and of Antonia de Mendoza], on 11 NOV 1687, also in the Parroquia de Santa María de los Lagos, Lagos de Moreno.

According to Mariano González Leal, Beatriz Morales and María Morales were sisters, both daughters of Joseph de Cervantes Villaseñor and Isabel Sánchez Carranza; paternal grandaughters of Leonel de Cervantes and Leonor de Orozco. These conclusions are without a doubt the results of Jaime Holcombe's extensive research into his lineages. These families were almost his exclusive domain, well before some of us were even born.

It was precisely Escoto y Tovar that brought Jaime Holcombe-Isunza into the genealogy of Los Altos de Jalisco. His maternal grandmother was Josefa Escoto y Berni, born in San Juan de los Lagos, in 1882. From that ancestress, began his extensively profound genealogical research during the late 1950s up to the 1968-1972 era when he submitted all his Family Group sheets to the LDS church, until he passed away in 1994. I missed meeting him in person by a year. I began my research in 1992 and connected to his research in 1994 (it was slower back then only having access to Microfilms from Salt Lake City). I met his close circle of researcher colleagues in 1996 after I had "tracked" them down, and have personally worked with them as well: Mary Lou Montagna, Ophelia Márquez, Liliam Navarro Ramos Wold, Tony Campos, and Mariano González Leal, to name a few. They have provided me with a quite a treasure chest of gems that Jaime inherited to them, beyond what is available in his Family Group Sheets and which have never been published. (Never mind he few mistakes we have discovered in this research over the many, many years, but hey...he was only human.)

Since you brought it up, I thought it would be great for you and everyone in Nuestros Ranchos to see how they connect to Jaime Holcombe-Isunza via his alteño lines.

Hola Primo, thanks for the info. I don't know why I felt that Diego Sanchez-Carranza and Ana Munoz were related ,as if I had a sixth sense, Any way Diego Sanchez-Carranza is my second mulato ancestor ,I keep on digging and surprise surprise see whats next. I am having problems with connecting Familysearch.org/search/collection/list and have been in contact with the people of the web site but no luck, and still trying. I also at a stand still with a Miguel de la Cruz and Ana Aguilera and a Tomas Gonzalez de Hermosillo y Nicolasa Marquez(daughter of Diego Marquez y Maria de Cruz Martin del Campo).Just to let you know tried e-mailing you and my message didnt come out ,strange.

>
>
>
They have provided me with a quite a treasure chest of gems that Jaime inherited to them, beyond what is available in his
> Family Group Sheets and which have never been published.
>

Thanks to my cousin Katy Brecht's research; she found this dispensation.  It was an important link because Maria Florentina Pinedo (my 4th GGM),  widow of my 4th GGF Jose Juan Fernandez, and her second husband Gervacio Rodarte.  It included a Family Trunk and named 3/4 generations pedigree.  Most importantly it identified Celedonio Fernandez my 5th GGF.  That connection enabled me to connect Erlinda Castanon-Long as my cousin.  And Erlinda's research was a fountain of connections to other cousins!  In the past two weeks I've increased my cousin count by hundreds! Some I've traced to present day.  I still have hundreds more to add.

This is the website Katy Brecht found:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18409-25043-16?cc=1874591&wc….

BTW, the only 2 browsers that work are either Google Chrome or FireFox Mozilla.

Thanks to my cousin Katy Brecht and to Erlinda Castanon-Long!

Evie,
You may have this, but I did quick search and found that Francisca Dávila was married to Alejandro Trejo on the 27 May 1953 in Villa del Refugio. I would be interested to follow your Flores line which may likely be the Flores Alatorre, a family I and many others descend on this forum. How far have you traced Nicolasa Flores' line? I have some lines around this region. Just some advice I call this the sticky region because many families travel a lot around here. I have a family and notice many others that are born in Calvillo will baptize their children in Tabasco (Villa del Refugio) then marry in Jalpa or Tlatenango and then die in Villanueva or vice-versa. Imagine all the archives you would have to search through. If you're lucky the families will stay in the same town for some time. If you need any further guidance please let me know, I am always available to guide new researchers, not knowing how much experience you have.
I hope this helps somehow,

Saludos Paco, mejor dicho Primo,

Thank you Armando for keeping NR members informed about DNA testing and options.

I wanted to add that if any of you tested with 23andMe's V3 chip or the NEW Autosomal test from Ancestry.com, you can import the autosomal part of your results to Family Tree DNA for $69 US and get more matches. Please remember that FTDNA has one of the largest DNA databases and you have the likelihood to yield more results when you upload your third-party results.

Read more about it here. https://www.familytreedna.com/landing/atdna-landing.aspx

Hello Claudia,

Your message did not get sent out by the NR email system. In the interest
of getting your message out in an email I am sending this out.

I would like to add that once they get their autosomal test transferred to
FamilyTreeDNA from Ancestry.com or 23andme they can join the Los Altos de
Jalisco DNA project at the following page -

http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join-request.aspx?group=losaltosdeja…

The goal is 1,000 participants. They are at 130 members and just a week or
two ago they were only at 30 members. The more members the better.

Also, a reminder to other NR members - Ancestry.com does not have a
chromosome browser and neither of them have DNA projects.

Saludos,
Armando

Hi guys,

I have two family finder results that have been uploaded to the the Los
Altos de
Jalisco DNA project . I'm excited to see how many of us can join this
project. I'm not sure how many of you remember, but Rick Rodriguez, a
Nuestros Ranchos member, is one of the administrators for this project. He
was also the main organizer for the 1st Conferencia de Genealogia e
Historia de Los Altos in Valle de Guadalupe back in 2008.

I'm currently having a few of my other lines being tested right now and I
might purchase the family finder product for my family members being tested
since its on sale for $99!

Hello Juan,

I recommend that you do get the Family Finder test you're contemplating on
getting for your family members. Siblings only carry 50% of each others
DNA. We also only have half of the chromosomes from one parent and half
from the other. What's worse is that the 50% you get from a parent isn't
exactly 25% of one grandparent and 25% of the other grandparent. This is
due to recombination. The more relatives that test, both close and distant
the more autosomal information you will have about your ancestors and you
will be able to find more relatives if that also interests you.

Armando

Hello Armando,

Would you please outline your thought process/method that you use when viewing a FamilyFinder Autosomal test results pages.

From the FF test results pages, do you first scan the pages looking for known matches/relatives?

It is the unknown matches that appear on the test results pages that I refer my questions to...

I am not sure how to proceed, is it the shared Cm comparisons, and from the shared Cms what is your next step in deciding which of the matches you will contact first?

Is your decision based on the number of shared Cms and/or the longest block?

I have downloaded the FamilyTree DNA tutorial for the FamilyFinder Autosomal, but continue to have many questions...you appear to be well versed on this subject and I would truly appreciate your input in explaining how to use the autosomal test results in establishing/linking with unknown relatives...

I have viewed the website that you suggested, but I'm thinking that the comparisons/charts that are featured are based on known family members that have taken the autosomal test. Please correct me if my thinking is not accurate.

How does the YDNA and the mtDNA help with the FamilyFinder Autosomal testing in establish kinship?

Thank you for sharing ...

Hello Pat,

Yes, the info on the website that I posted is based on known family members
that have taken the autosomal test. Many of us here have well documented
trees and many of us share common ancestors.I think we are a very lucky
group to have been able to document our trees as well as we have been able
to. Once we show matches on our documented lines and identify the
chromosome and region for those lines then we can help others with the
undocumented lines. Sometimes the documentation is there but they don't
know it. We can also help them with that. It's the spirit of helping each
other that started this website and it is the same spirit that needs to
continue for the Family Finder data to be useful.

I have found out that the best way to identify possible relatives is by
going to the Chromosome Browser then clicking on 5 matches then clicking on
Download to Excel (CSV Format) and saving the file but add the number 01 at
the end of the name. Then deselect the 5 matches and click on 5 more and
click on on Download to Excel (CSV Format) again but save this file like
the previous file but with the number 02 at the end. Do this until you have
all of your matches then copy and paste all of your matches from each file
into the first file.

There is a website that will do this for you at
http://www.dnagedcom.com/FamilyTreeDNA/Default.aspx but you will have to
add the column headers which are -
NAME MATCHNAME CHROMOSOME START LOCATION END LOCATION
CENTIMORGANS MATCHING SNPS

Once you have all of your Chromosome Browser data into a single file make
22 tabs, one for each chromosome and add the column headers into each tab.
Now go back to the tab that has all of the matches and order them by
CENTIMORGANS. The first person is the one with the highest nunmber of cMs
that match with you which. CentiMorgans is how the DNA segment is measured.
Pay attention which chromosome that person matches you on. Now reorder
according to the chromosome column and copy and paste everyone from that
chromosome into the tab that corresponds to that chromosome.

Now within the tab of that chromosome reorder everyone by centiMorgans
again. If they are less than 5.5 cMs you can ignore them. That amount of
cMs is insignificant.
http://www.familytreedna.com/faq/answers.aspx?id=17#608

Do the previous for every chromosome that has matches with more than 5.5
cMs in common with you.

Now, just because multiple people match on the same chromosome doesn't mean
that they are all related to each other. You still have to pay attention to
the Start and End location. The likelihood that they share a common
ancestor through that line is higher if the segments are the same and are a
long block. 4th and more distant cousins share 5-50 cMs according to the
following site -
http://cryokidconfessions.blogspot.com/2011/09/dna-numbers-game.html

Once you have identified the people that match you the closest and the
people that match them look at their trees and look for a common ancestor.
If they don''t have a tree or you think more can be found with some more
investigation you can email them and see if they respond. Once you have
responses work from there. If there are no responses and you can't find
anyone in common you will just have to be patient. If in 4 months from now
you don't have new matches and you want to continue down this line I would
order a 23andme test and an Ancestry.com test.

I have a 7th cousin verified by documentation that shares 10.97 cMs with my
uncle. There are two other people that match on the same chromosome in the
same region with a significant block and they show to have ancestors in
Jalisco also. I have emailed them but I have not had a response. So we are
not able to verify at what point on our family trees we have an ancestor in
common. Once another person tests, shows that chromosome and region in
common with us with a significant block, and has a documented tree then the
likelihood that anyone else that matches us on that region is related
through that line is very high.

Some matches will be due to IBS -
http://www.familytreedna.com/faq/answers.aspx?id=17#813

Another thing, it is best to get known relatives on both sides of the
family to also get the test in order to help show which side of the family
the match is on. If they match on one side of the family that is where the
common ancestor most likely exists although there could be matches on both
sides. If they don't match on one side it doesn't prove there isn't a
connection because not everyone inherits the same autosomal DNA. You still
have to get people from both sides of the family to continue trying to find
a match and also go through a process of elimination.

Y-DNA helps by showing that people with a high number of markers in common
(a lot more than 12/12) have a common ancestor. The Tip report calculates
that likelihood based on the markers. If it is shown that the likelihood is
in the past 5 generations then you can use that info along with the Family
Finder info.

The mtDNA info is less helpful in establishing when two people have a
common ancestor. However, if two people show to have a completely different
mtDNA then they don't share a common ancestor along that line. It is more a
process of elimination than a common ancestor tool. In some cases I am sure
that some people will be able to find a common ancestor if they both have
well documented trees and their mtDNA data matches.

I wrote a lot and there might be some errors since I did not have this
proofread. I hope this all makes sense and that it has been helpful.

Armando

Armando,

Thank you so much for this wonderful explanation. I'm sure that when I follow all the steps that you outlined that I will be rewarded with locating others that share the same interest and desire to learn about their ancestors as well as locating/ linking with unknown cousins...

I will follow your outline and if I find that I'm having problems in understanding and setting up the data forms, I certainly will be back in touch.

I decided to order the FF Autosomal test for my grandson, Nicholas, who has been 37 marker YDNA tested. Nicholas is the biological son of my daughter, so if my thinking is correct, his mtDNA is the same as mine, and that he shares some of my chromosomes.

At this stage I'm not too sure how recombination will reflect in Nicholas' FF test results for my husband, Tino, who is the biological father of Nicholas' mother...

I'm hoping that both Tino and I will appear as matches on Nicholas' test results, and that he will appear on ours... Tino and I have both been FF tested.

For now, I need to get started setting up the steps as outlined in your posting...

I will keep you posted on my findings...

Armando, Once again thank you for taking the time to answer my question/s, and for sharing your knowledge ...

to be continued...

Sincerely,
Pat Silva Corbera

Hello Pat,

Nicholas would definitely show up as a match and with 1,000-2,300 cM in
common with you and Tino were he to take the test. The only reason for him
to test is for him to find relatives on his father's side. Any autosomal
DNA that his mother has comes from you and Tino. When I mentioned getting
other relatives to test I inferred siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles,
grandparents, great-aunts, and great-uncles. The only reason descendants
should be tested is for the spouses side of the family when the spouse is
unable to test. If you have ordered the test and no longer think it is
necessary call and cancel it. Use your money towards more testing of
yourself or sponsor a test for someone else.

Armando

Hello Armando,

I did order the FF test for Nicholas yesterday...I'm interested in seeing the cMs and the block length...an added plus would be matches from his father's side...

I have researched my son-in-law's (Nicholas' father)paternal ancestry back to the 1600s from Scotland, so it will be very interesting to see his matches...

Does NR have a general fund, in which NR members may make donations of a given $ amount that can be used by individuals for one reason or another can not afford the expense of proceeding with various DNA testing?

Once again, thank you for sharing...

Armando

Very well. I wanted to be sure that was your goal and that it wasn't a
misunderstanding.

I have not heard of a general fund for NR and I don't think there is a way
to start one. Joseph Puentes might correct me if I am wrong. The Los Altos
de Jalisco DNA project does have a general fund. You. or any other NR
member, could also post that you are willing to pay for someone's test if
they unable to afford it and have them email you so that you could pay for
it and have the test sent to them. This would ensure the donation isn't
misused. Likewise, you could also let Ricardo Rodriguez, admin of Los Altos
de Jalisco DNA project, know that you want any funds that you give the
project be used for specific purposes, if so desired.

Armando,

Thank you for the added information...

Today I updated Tino's current FF test result matches...it can be accessed by clicking on this link...

http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/15188.

Tomorrow I'll start the download to Excel of the matches, using your instructions of creating a file of 5 matches, with file name ending with ie. 1 and moving to the next 5, changing the file ending to 2 etc. until all matches have been downloaded to Excel, then copy and paste to the file ending in 1...I'm pretty sure I can do this...if not I will re-read your instructions...

I accessed Family Tree DNA tools, and tried to download the zip file for FF, but it kept timing out after 15 minutes... it then dropped off...I will try it again later this evening...

Once again, many thanks for all your help, and also to Saul Navarro and Juan Aguayo for so freely sharing their research material with me...

Hello Armando,

Update Subject: FF matches...

The task of downloading all of the matches that appeared on Tino's FF test results proved to be overwhelming for me...

I decided instead to use the FF Chromosome Browser filter "Distant Relatives."

The filter produced 19 matches, a number that was more workable for me.

Using the Chromosome Browser I proceeded to view each of the 19 names, five at a time, selecting and deselecting, using the "view this data in a table," format looking for cMs that were 5.5 or more...I copied and pasted the individual's name and relationship as well as the line/s information that was over 5.5 cMs to a main listing sheet with headings of Chromosome - Start Location - End Location -cM - matching SNPs ...

I continued to follow the above procedure until all 19 "distant relative" matches were viewed and copied..

I will contact the individuals with the highest cM match and longest block first and continue down the listing until all have been contacted...

Once again thank you for all your help...

Hello Pat,

The list of Speculative matches also has people with more than 5.5 cMs. You
should add them also.

You should also have your matches separated by the chromosome they match
you on. Do this by making separate tabs in the spreadsheet for each
chromosome 1-22. It makes triangulation much easier.

Once you have the matches separated by chromosome then you need to look at
the range. If two people are in a completely different range then they
aren't related to the tester through the same line. If they are in the same
range the likelihood that they are related through the same line is very
great. If you are able to identify three people, counting the tester, that
match in the same range and two people have a well documented tree then the
third person is highly likely to be related through that line.

So then when you are able to correspond with matches you can concentrate on
that chromosome and region as to what you have in common and try and
identify through triangulation which line it is.

In a couple of months there might be some more matches due to the sale and
also Gedmatch should be accepting new uploads so that will be another tool
that we will be able to use for finding matches on specific chromosome
regions which could help identify certain lines.

You are correct. There is no general fund. But if enough people wanted one
it can be arranged.

There are other occasional needs for money but we've gone without needing to
ask for $ for over 10 years now I'd kind of like to keep it that way. Then
again if Arturo tells me that there is a need to update the website and
funds are needed, well that could change the whole picture. For now no
solicitations for money will part of the NR group

Yes if someone wants to pay for a specific persons DNA testing then I would
prefer that it be taken to email between the two parties.

Thank you Armando for keeping NR members informed about DNA testing and
options.

I wanted to add that if any of you tested with 23andMe's V3 chip or the NEW
Autosomal test from Ancestry.com, you can import the autosomal part of your
results to Family Tree DNA for $69 US and get more matches. Please remember
that FTDNA has one of the largest DNA databases and you have the likelihood
to yield more results when you upload your third-party results.

I should have added that I know these families lines (Gutierrez and Mendez) lived in Michoacán before going to Jalisco mid 1700's.

Hello Linda,

A few weeks ago the administrator of the Los Altos de Jalisco DNA group had
expressed to me that they were accepting people with ancestry from Jalisco,
Aguascalientes, and Zacatecas. Recently the wording on the description of
the project has changed. However, since a majority of the people in Los
Altos have distant relatives in Jalisco, Aguascalientes, and Zacatecas
those people should be accepted. Their DNA is our DNA and their goal is
1,000 participants. That won't happen if they are too restrictive and they
won't be able to triangulate on autosomal DNA without enough participants.
As far as them having been in Michoacán prior to going to Jalisco. It
shouldn't matter because a lot of our ancestors were elsewhere, including
Michoacán, before going to Jalisco. The important point is that they did go
to Jalisco. I suggest that you request to join the group. It will be their
decision if they want to accept you or not.

Also, their main goals are the Y-DNA and mtDNA results but autosomal
testing (Family Finder) will be promoted once they meet their primary goal.
I have been encouraging the Family Finder test because we need it for
triangulation and there are many of us with well documented trees that have
only a few 5th generation ancestors, or older, that are missing. With

Hello Roberto. Based on the results of DNA tests I can tell you that Francisco de Villalobos is a direct descendant of Cristóbal de Villalobos and María Pérez de Nava. One of the persons tested is a participant of the Nueva Galicia DNA project at http://www.familytreedna.com/public/NuevaGaliciaDNA/default.aspx?sectio…

I can also tell you that the father of Francisco de Villalobos was reported to be the son of Nicolás de Villalobos per the following dispensa https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18414-13679-26?cc=1874591&wc…

María Ignacia Villalobos y Romo de Vivar was married 9 May 1792 with Marcos Muñoz Landeros
635886 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-11613-123582-27?cc=1410092…

Francisco de Villalobos and Anna Maria Romo de Vivar are also the parents of the following:

José Claudio Villalobos y Romo de Vivar 1758 casado el 12 de febrero 1782 con María Josefa López Martinez
Bautizado el 28 de julio 1758 - Villa del Refugio, Zacatecas, México
Casamiento: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-11613-123908-93?cc=1410092…

Thank you very much Armando, I greatly appreciate it!
After the information that you gave me I have gone a bit further, now I am trying to find out who Nicolas de Villalobos' wife was, and mother of Francisco de Villalobos and Juan Jose de Villalobos (according to the dispensa that you provided they were both sons of Nicolas de Villalobos). Can you help me get more insight on some information I found.

Thanks to Goerge Fulton, I found a marriage certificate for Juan Joseph de Villalobos and Maria de Luna.

Father: de Billalobos, Dn Nicolas

I am wondering if this is the same Juan Joseph de Villalobos from the dispensa you provided, if so Gertrudis de Velasco would probably be Francisco de Villalobos' mother:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18414-13679-26?cc=1874591&wc…
All the dates seem to fit. But I am not sure if I am going the right way.

I would greatly apreciate your help!

Thank you Armando!

Roberto, you have made a connection that I had overlooked. I already knew about that información matrimonial but I hadn't tied the two Juan Josephs together. I do think that the two are one and the same.

That also means that apart from the DNA results we have documentation that ties Nicolás de Villalobos to the founding family of Cristóbal de Villalobos and María Pérez de Nava.

The información matrimonial of Juan Joseph states that he is from the Valle de Huejúcar which was once part of Mecatabasco, Zacatecas is now Calvillo, Aguasacalientes.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11761-57421-10?cc=1502404&…

His parents also have an información matrimonial record.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-11771-153607-86?cc=1502404…

It states that Gertrudis de Velasco is from Valle de Huejúcar which would be why Juan Joseph and his brothers would have been born in Zacatecas. The males moved to the town the wife was from.

It names the parents of Nicolás de Villalobos as Diego de Villalobos and Ana Jiménez who were married 28 Oct 1676 in Aguascalientes. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-12446-30342-71?cc=1410092&…

We know who the parents of Diego de Villalobos were thanks to a dispensa.

It states that his parents were Cristóbal de Villalobos and María Pérez de Nava.

I descend from a brother of this Francisco de Villalobos named Tomás de Villalobos whose relation is proven by using the previous dispensa along with the following two.

[Tronco Cristóbal de Villalobos..cc..María Pérez de Nava]

Thank you very much Primo Armando!

Its such an exciting and rewarding feeling when you can go on further into your ancestry. Now I can say that with your help I have traced Francisco de Villalobos Velasco's ancestry. I don't only descend from his dad Diego de Villalobos, but a brother of Diego named Isidro de Villalobos who married Francisca Gertrudis de Escoto y Tovar. I have the Villalobo's line multiple times in my family tree.

Now I am still stuck on Anna Maria Romo de Vibar, Juan de Esparza and Mariana Martin del Campo. I will keep on looking for clues to help me find more information on these three ancestor's origins. I am very eager, especially, to find out if Ana Maria Romo de Vibar and Mariana (Maria) Martin del Campo descend from the early Romo de Vibar's and Martin del Campo's from Aguascalientes,do you have any advice on how to be successful Armando?

Thank you Again Primo Armando!

Hola Primo,

The children of Francisco de Villalobos and Anna Maria Romo de Vivar are mentioned as being born in Ojo Caliente in their baptisms and their marriage documents. Based on the dates of the baptisms of their children Francisco and Anna María were married before Feb 1756. Look for their información matrimonial record there. Here's the link - https://familysearch.org/search/image/index#uri=https%3A%2F%2Ffamilysea…

Maria Antonia de Villalobos and Juan Jose de Esparza had a dispensa de 3o grado de afinidad. You need to look for that dispensa. That means his first wife, María Ignacia de Contreras, and his second wife, Anna María, were related in the third degree. They had a great-grandparent in common. Download the following Index of Dispensas and click on the links for the appropriate years to see if you can find the dispensa. https://www.dropbox.com/s/wc48jbtlhoq11a6/Index%20of%20Dispensas.xlsx

You could also look for the información matrimonial records to see if it has more info and also look for the marriage record and información matrimonial of Juan Jose de Esparza and María Ignacia de Contreras in Ojo Caliente prior to April 1768.

If you still haven't found anything continue looking for marriage records, información matrimonial records, and dispensas of descendants of Maria Antonia de Villalobos and Juan Jose de Esparza down to the great-grandchildren to see if you can find something.

Also look through the notary records at http://sigue.aguascalientes.gob.mx/AXWeb/Login.aspx username: sigue.publica password: publica

Thank you primo Armando!

I have started my search through indexes, matrimonial investigations and I came up with some documents that are stongs hints of Mariana Martin del Campo and Juan de Esparza's ancestry.

Thanks to George Fulton's index on Matrimonial Investigations of Aguascalientes for 1700-1720
http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/system/files/private/active/4/Matrimonia…

I found this index:

Volume 1705: image 65
26 Jun 1705
Groom: de Esparza, Juan (Espanol; )
Father: de Esparza, Miguel Father:
Mother: Ruis de Escamilla, Clara
Bride: Gonzales, Mariana (mestiza;)
Father: Martin, Christoval
Mother: Gonzales, Maria
Notes: dispensa; 3rd degree consanguinity

The time frame fits perfectly since their son Ysidro married in 1730. The only thing that makes me question this couple, is that Mariana used Gonzalez instead of Martin, now I also questioned if her father was indeed a Martin del Campo, so to confirm his last name I searched for other children of Cristoval Martin and Maria Gonzalez and I came up with Francisco Martin del Campo.
Here is the index of his marriage with Teressa de Valderrama and his death:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N874-J5L
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JHPT-X8F

And here is the christening index of their son: Christoval Crecencio Martin Balderrama on May 15 1715 in Aguascalientes, son of Francisco Martin del Campo and Teresa de Valderrama.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JMD6-2H1

This confirmed that Francisco is indeed a Martin del Campo. But now in index from George Fulton's indexing of Marriages in Aguascalientes, on the informacion matrimonial of Francisco Martin and Teresa de Valderrama, his mother is said to be Maria de Villagran insted of Maria Gonzalez, maybe she went by both.

Volume 1708/09: image 181
21 Aug 1709
Groom: Martin, Francisco (Espanol; )
Father of groom: Martin, Christoval
Mother of groom: de Villagran, Maria
Bride: de Balderrama, Thereza (Espanola; )
Father of bride: de Valderrama, Joseph
Mother of bride: de Leon, Catalina
Former spouse: Former spouse:
Notes:

I am really positive that this couple (Juan de Esparza and Mariana (Martin del Campo) Gonzalez) are parents of Ysidro de Esparza married to Gertrudis Lozano. And that Francisco Martin del Campo is brother of Mariana. I want to look up the documents from George Fulton's index, but I don't know how to look for the documents on family search since the page number on the index does not match the current volume and page on family search, or it might, but I don't know how to get to it, I'll keep on trying.

What do you think primo Armando, is this a strong hint on Ysidro de Esparza's parents Juan de Esparza and Mariana Martin del Campo's ancestry?

Primo,

It does look like you are on the right path.

George Fulton's index was created when the images had different numbers. In the current format you have to go to a volume that matches then jump around until the date is somewhat close then compare the date with what is in the index and the page number and subtract the numbers then that should tell you how far away you are from the page you are looking for.

Here are links to some of the records.

(That which is unspoken rots…or…That which is kept-safe rots).

Be careful what you wish for…you might just get it).

Disculpen si tal vez no me expliqué bien o no me entendieron.

2. Ines Francisca Xaviera Romo de Vivar; bap. 14 May 1735 in Santa María de los Lagos, Lagos de Moreno.
3. Maria-Antonia Romo de Vivar; bap. 24 Nov 1737 in Santa María de los Lagos, Lagos de Moreno.
4. Manuel Antonio Romo de Vivar; bap. 5 Ago 1740 in Santa María de los Lagos, Lagos de Moreno.

Gracias Francisco, me has aportado valiosa información.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18567-54813-56?cc=1874591&wc…

Saludos.

All the work I do would be worthless unless I can share it with people that value it. I am trying to go back and add source note tags naming who gave me the information or clue that helped me along. I did not share earlier on the Lomellini and the Cervantes lines because I wanted to make sure my information was correct. A few years ago many members asked many questions on these two lines and I felt awful not answering them but I did not not feel comfortable releasing information before it's time. I still may have released the Lomellini information too early since I really wanted the document stating that it was 100% accurate.
I have gained a lot of information and friendships through receiving and giving data.
Thank you everyone for sharing

Hola Helen,

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-11627-22110-47?cc=1502404&…
Hija
de Nicolas Romo de Vivar y de Maria de Villalobos. Aquí tampoco existe el
uso de Ana o Mariana.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11928-137812-52?cc=1502404…

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-266-12446-30241-71?cc=1410092&…

Aguascalientes
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11824-53490-11?cc=1410092&…

Pto.........................................4....Pta

[Tronco Lázaro Martin del Campo cc María López de la Cruz]

Ma Francisca Martin del Campo..1...Francisco Martin del Campo

María Villalobos.............................2...Bernabe Martin del Campo

Catarina Romo de Vivar..............3...Francisco Martin del Campo

Pto................................................4....Pta

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18419-3784-52?cc=1874591&wc=…

Monica [Lorenza], Alejo, Brigida, Joseph y Nicolas.
