tatarabuelo Jorge Colores, a continuación describo los eventos de la vida
de mis ancestros:

1. Jorge Colores, posiblemente originario de Peñon Blanco Durango y
posiblemente nació entre los años 1860 a 1865 aproximadamente, se casó con
Liarada Contreras, es la única información que tengo de ella y él.

El hijo de Jorge Colores y Liarada Contreras fue: Mariano Colores nació en
1882 originario de Ojocaliente Zacatecas México y murió en el año de 1958
en Milwuakee, Wisconsin USA.

Mariano Colores (1882-1958), se casó a los 19 años de edad, el día 09 de
Noviembre de 1901, con María Jesús Torres teniendo 16 años de edad,
originaria de Ojocaliente, Zacatecas. Los padres de María de Jesús fueron
Luis Torres y Lorenza Correa. Los abuelos paternos fueron: Francisco
Torres y María Nieves y Los abuelos maternos fueron: Antonio Correa y María
Guadalupe.

Es importante mencionar que estos apellidos de Colores y Torres proviene
del Rancho San Ramón municipio de la Blanca Zacatecas. Mariano y Maria de
Jesús emigraron a USA de jovenes de aproximadamente a los 23 a 25 años de
edad.

Notas de la boda: se casaron en la Santa Iglesia Parroquial de Ojocaliente,
Jorge Colores padre de Mariano Colores ya estaba fallecido en la fecha de
celebración del matrimonio de su hijo.

I have been running into some problems with an ancestor of mine Timotea Ulloa wife of Felipe Garcia both from La Estancia Delgadillos.I have only found one offspring for this couple and that is Jose Santiago Garcia who was born on 31 July 1898 in La Estancia.His paternal grandparents are mentioned to be Estanlisao Garica Y Felipa Gonzalez and his maternal grandparents are Jose Maria Ulloa Y Felipa Ruiz.So here is the problem i cannot find any Felipa Ruiz on Family search married to a Jose Maria Ulloa but i did find a couple with the name of Jose Maria Ulloa and Felipa Ruano, and they are both from La Estancia?Could this be the couple i am looking for?I am really stuck here if someone can please help me find the correct parents of Timotea Ulloa I would really appreciate it.:)

I've hit a wall. Augustin Carlos de Godoy and his wife: Maria Anna (or Mariana) Leogarda Lemus lived in Totatiche, Jalisco from about 1750 to the time of Lugarda's death, 31 Sept. 1785; Augustin was also deceased by 1798 (but I haven't located his burial). I have been wondering alot about how it must have been like to travel on carriages pulled by horses when they travel to other towns. Also the methods for using lights at night during the colonial days.

If the Conde Fernando Campo de Cos of Hacienda San Mateo from Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Mexico had to travel to the city of Zacatecas. In today's methods of travel it would have been a 3 hour drive on car.

But in a colonial carriage it would have taken days. So what would have they done at night? I would think that they would have stopped at relief stations which are a number of villages that are along the highway. And those villages still exist to this day. That would have been more comfortable to travel during the day along the highway and stop at a village at night. The horse would have to be exchanged for fresh horses to travel on the next day.

Now regarding the lighting used for night time. Lots of candles and imagine the smell of candle wax inside the buildings and outside along the streets in the towns.

Looking for information on the family of Ramon Becerra F(Franco?) who was born in the early 1900s (1902-1908?) in Atotonilco, Jalisco. It's unclear "which" Atotonilco. The family of Ramon Becerra was said to be wealthy ranch owners in the area in the late 1920s. Does anyone has any record of such family/ranch?

In the christening documents they are listed as "Espanoles" and White race. The first two children of Agustin Villegas and Rosalia Anriquez were born in Jerez, Zac after that they moved to Huejucar were all the generations were born and raised.

I believe I have solved out little mystery. Juan Garcia de Alba and Juan Francisco García de Alba are not the same person. They are brothers.

I finally found Juan García de Alba's death record in Autlan: He died 22 May 1779 in Autlan, and Rosa de la Cueva survived him. Here is the link:

Since your earlier message indicated correctly that Francisco died 13 Feb 1773 in Ejutla they cannot be the same person.

So, to prove they are brothers, their respective marriages prove them to be sons of Manuel García de Alba and Nicolasa de Santana.

I have been researching for about 2 years and have hit a brick wall. My 6x great grandfather was Blas Esteban Franco who married Margarita Liberata de Aiola Ramires on 08 Oct. 1736 in Tepatitlan, Jalisco. Below is the link to their marriage record. The record is found in the upper left hand side of the page.

In the marriage record it states that Pedro Franco and Micaela Baeza were Blas Esteban's parents. I haven't been able to find any information on the parents so that is were my road ends. I was able to get a hold of the book Retonos de Espana en la Nueva Galicia by Don Mariano Gonzalez-Leal. I wasn't able to find any mention of my family line in the chapter about the Franco family. I know that one of the patriarchs was Pedro Franco de Paredes and that he had an illegitimate son who he named Pedro. Could this Pedro be my 7x great-grandfather or could he be a link to my family?

If anybody has researched this family and can give me any information, please let me know. I am so thankful for this forum and for the many members who help the novice researchers like me. Again thank you.

Qué querrá decir la frase "Hsiantes en la Puente"? No me hace sentido. Podría ser una abreviatura de un oficio? O tal vez la abreviatura de "Habitantes"?

relating to Cristobal Lozano and Beatriz Delgado who married in Aguascalientes

I was wondering what books, if any (English or Spanish) do the seasoned veterans of the genealogy pursuit recommend as "must reads" for those wanting to expand knowledge on the history of Mexico, genealogy research, or other relevant/vital topics. I have enjoyed/appreciated the help of so many of you over the months and years and would appreciate any direction to further expand my historical genealogical education.
