Hello!
I'm trying to located modern names and sites of early ranchos and haciendas connected to family. Does anyone know about the following?
Los Jacales/Los Xacales (Barrio de los Jacales): Los Jacales located immediately southwest of Lagos, by San Pablo de Nazas? or Jacales, by Chipinque, located north of Lagos on the Camino de Escondida?
El Rancho de Nasas: San Pablo de Nazas, southwest of Lagos, adjacent to Los Jacales?
La Estancia de Domingo de Espinosa: south of Lagos at Loma de Espinosa?
Los Velozes (El Rancho de Pedro de Beloso/Veloso c1615-1672): Loma de Velozes?
La Hacienda de Juan Días Toribio (c1619-1669)?
El Rancho de Bartolomé de Mesquita/Amezquita (c1595-aft1669)?
Thank you,
Travis
Dear all,
While searching for the well-knowned couple Pedro Nieto and Josefa Corona from Pinos, I noticed that the archives of Bizkaia "Archivo Histórico Foral de Bizkaia" mentioned in their website having the following document : "Probanza de hidalguía y limpieza de sangre de Josefa Corona, hija de Cosme López y Catalina Corona, realizada en el año 1646 que incluye:
Privilegio Real dado por el Rey Carlos I a favor de Manuel Monje concediendo un escudo de armas por las labores desarrolladas en la conquista y pacificación de la ciudad de Méjico y de Nueva España."
In the same link (https://apps.bizkaia.eus/ARIT/ARITSVisualizarFichaDocumento?seccion=8&e…), you can see that another document is mentioning "Josefa Corona, esposa de Pedro Nieto".
The time and location matches with our Josefa Corona and I wondered if anyone had ever came accross this lead ?
Kind regards,
Tristan

Hello!
I'm hoping someone here is familiar with the López de Lara, Ahumada/Aumada and Medina families of Lagos de Moreno circa 1570-1665 and/or can point me in the right direction for answers to the below questions.
I found the following baptism in parish register of Santa María de los Lagos:
Andrés, bt. 14 Oct 1615 in Lagos, son of Andrés de López and Isabel de Medina
Is Isabel de Medina (above) is the same person as doña Isabel de Medina (below)?
Does anyone have a solid theory on the identity of Simón Báez, who married María de la Cerda [alias María de Balencuela?] probably sometime before Sep 1652?
Conjectured and proven children:
Nicolasa Báez de la Cerda b. c1653 probably in San Luis Potosí
Maria Báez b. 1653 in San Luis Potosí [may be the same person as sister Nicolasa Báez de la Cerda]
Simon Báez de la Cerda b. c1656 probably in Aguascalientes
Ygnacio Báez de la Cerna b. c1658 probably in Aguascalientes
Blasa Báez b. c1658? probably in Aguascalientes
Antonio Báez Lopes b. before 1659 probably in Aguascalientes (not proven)
Sebastiana Báez de la Cerda b 1659 in Aguascalientes
Simón Báez died in Aguascalientes and was buried 14 Dec 1659.
I lean toward one of two possibilities:
I was contacted about a the below inactive .pdf Is there someone in the group that can supply me or this person with the correct file?

Hello everyone!
Does anyone know who Gerónima de Ornelas (widow) is?
Gerónima is noted in the household of Antonia de Villegas in the 1669 Padron of Lagos:
Casa de Antonia de Villegas mestissa [alias Mendoza b. before 1629, widow of Juan de Santoyo alias Pérez]
Geronima de Ornelas Viuda ++ [Unknown]
Antonio de Santoyo casado con ++ [son, alias Mendoza]
Melchora Basques mestissa ++ [daughter-in-law, alias de los Reyes]
Angelina Peres mestissa soltera ++ [daughter]
Ysidro de Santoyo + [grandson?]
Juan de Santoyo + [grandson]
I have not identified the location of this home, but it is somewhere south of Lagos; probably close to Los Jacales.
When everything is working right it is soooo easy to take the website for granted. But just let some little thing go wrong and suddenly those of us that appreciate the site for what it is are quickly brought back to reality. I guess what I'm trying to say is that one individual in the group is mainly responsible for keeping the sight humming along so nicely, Lee Ingram. Lee has donated countless (well I'm sure he could count them) hours to revive and act as the keeper of the NuestrosRanchos.org website. I so much appreciate you and your efforts Lee and saying THANK YOU doesn't feel like enough, but here goes anyway THANK YOU.

Hola, everyone:
My name is Rian and I am currently researching my 10th great-grandfather, Andrés de ARAIZA. I believe he was born around 1635 and he married Micaela de YSASI/ISASSI around 1655. Their children are: Catalina de ARAIZA (1658-?) and Antonio de ARAIZA (1661-?), both of whom were born in Ahualulco de Mercado, Jalisco. Andrés de ARAIZA died 4 Jul 1662 in Ahualulco de Mercado, Jalisco.
This WikiTree* says that Andrés de ARAIZA's parents were Juan de ARAIZA y MEDINA and María de las Islas, however I have not found any sources that support this.
*WikiTree: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/De_Araiza-16
Has anyone come across my 10th great-grandfather, Andrés de ARAIZA, in their research and knows how he fits into the picture?
Siempre agradecido,
Rian R.
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to read another document from Francisco de Covarrubias, but I can't make out what the highlighted words say. Could someone take a look and let me know what the highlighted words say? I really appreciate it.
Researching possible relative Juan de Saavedra in 17th century Lagos, and I ran across the de Saavedra y Guzman family, Basically, the below pedigree is cobbled from different sources. In some cases, I found this family group in online trees with the addition of my Juan de Saavedra and his wife Maria de Villegas:
PEDIGREE 1
1 Antonio de Saavedra Guzmán (Espanol) (c.1562-c.1620)
m. Catalina de Villafañe y Alvarado
1.1 Juan de Saavedra y Guzmán (birth estimates range from c.1589/c.1590)
m. María de Monroy y Flores (birth estimates range from c.1590 to c.1633)
Hello,
Thank you for allowing me to join this group. I am looking forward to learning from everyone here. I've been lurking for awhile now as a visitor reading public posts and am impressed by the knowledge and research of the members here.
Even though I've researched my Texas and American ancestors for a few years I'm a novice with Mexican genealogy. I have many questions and maybe a bit of original research to contribute, also.
I am researching families primarily in Jalisco and Guanajuato that are spread out like a wide curved paintbrush stroke from Aquascalientes southeast across Encarnación de Díaz and Lagos de Moreno through León and ending around Silao.
A new member (NA, T) asked if anyone in the group has, or is working on this. Also whether it would be good information to upload to the website (Not my area of research but I'd say YES, please do):
I am working on a transcription of the 1669 padron of the Villa de Santa María de los Lagos, with some genealogical notes on its individuals and family groups with some references to records (marriage, baptism and dispensas). I'm only on page 11 so far so it'll be awhile before I'm finished. Ultimately my intention is to cross-reference it with the 1676 padron. Also, I'm indexing the pueblos and ranchos in the 1808 padron (with brief notes on some ranches like chain of ownership, name changes, etc.).

ps: just in case if you all see any Puente/Puentes/De La Puente in any of those records or Diaz too please bring them to my attention.

Does anyone have any information on Maria Velasco married to Geronimo Orosco in Aguascalientes in early 1600? Thanks for your help.
Hi,
Somewhere I read that El Carrizal was located near Ayo but maybe there were other ranches with the same name in other areas of Jalisco (that is what I find nowadays in modern maps). Does any body know whether it still exists or whether it/they became a town/towns?
It is just curiosity to know in which areas my relatives lived, it is not a matter of going to look for information.
Thank you for your help.

I have been doing major research online from home and my local Family History Center in an effort to ensure a more accurate ancestor tree on Family Search for the Ruiz de Esparza family that originated in the Pamplona, Spain area. I’m aware that back in 2016 there were discussions here about this family, but am sharing my experience in case there may be something new and also, in the hope someone here may be able to assist me with questions I’ve encountered.
The most challenging issue, my main priority, was correcting the extra generation that resulted from the creation of a record for Lope Ruiz Esparza b. 1500 as the son of Lope Ruiz Esparaza Espinosa b. 1510 and Maria Caparroso b. 1533. This record presented Lope Ruiz Esparza b. 1500 as the husband of Anna Maria Díez de Eguino b. 1522 with their child Lope Ruiz de Esparza Diaz b. 1569 (who is the progenitor of the Ruiz de Esparza line in Aguascalientes, Mexico.) Obviously, the son could not have been born before the father and mother!
Hello I'm a new member. My family is from Zacatecas Mexico. I'm am looking for information on my paternal line. Juan Estrada was in 1831 to Luisa Ramíres. His father is unknown and he died in Zacatecas Mexico on May 8th, 1863. I was just wondering were the Estrada last name came from because I thought at that time children took the mother's last name. So I am just a little confused about where the Estrada last name came from.
Hello everyone,
I'm hoping someone can help me translate what this document says. It's about Francisco de Covarrubias married to Isabel de Rodas. I can figure out a couple of things but was hoping someone with more experience could help me figure out what some of the words say. I attached the document. thank you!
I posted a comment on the previous topic "Lope Ruiz de Esparza 'el menor' is the 3rd cousin to St. Francisco Javier de Jasso," but since it was from 2016, I'm creating a new topic. I recently joined Nuestros Ranchos with hopes of finding more about the Esparza family that originated in Pamplona, Spain, among other challenges. I ran into Nuestros Ranchos while searching for documentation that verifies what is posted on Family Search. Does someone know whether the book mentioned by Rick A. Ricci in the previous topic has been published. If nothing else, the posts here have given me new resources to investigate. I'm happy to share anything new that I might discover, but there's so much here, I don't know whether I'll find more than what's already been shared.
i would like to ask about a family dietary custom
My fathers Tia Abuela.. always got very nervous if someone ate
Pork with any Dairy product. Saying " it would make bumps on the Face ' and admonishing anyone who even considered it..
Could this be a handed down Jewish dietary custom. ?
eating a Pork Taco with cheese is not something i've ever seen in Mexico, and i never have been so inclined.. it doesn''t see to go together.
Has anyone ever heard of this ?
Hello! My name is Dana and I’m looking forward to learning more, and helping others to learn more about their ancestors. Back in the 1980s I learned how to create a genealogy chart when I took a Cultural Anthropology course in college. That started me on my genealogy research journey. The first step was adding extended family. There was no Internet, or simple way to gather the information, so I started the old- fashioned way by writing for copies of vital records, like birth, death and marriage and contacting family members. I especially focused on the older generations who I knew may not be with us for long. They shared treasured stories and photos.
