Laura,

I have Hernando's marriage record and his parents' names, which dead ends there; that means little, though, as I haven't researched them further back, since I don't appear to be connected to Hernando's parents. I connect with you through Hernando's wife, Antonia de Covarrubias. I have additional information on her. Send me a message through the group, and I can forward you some details. Alice and Carmen,

There are 3 lists in which to post your emails or comments, each one has a
specific purpose.

- Announce is when you have an announcement to make such as an event
related to genealogy or other type of announcement.
- Research is when you have a research question or response
- General is for general purposes just a comment in general.

These 3 lists are to help us submit and respond to a specific type of
posting.

Muchas gracias Steven.

look at the previous page at the bottom you'll see the name Diego Perez. To me the "D" in Diego looks very similar to the first letter in the surname in question. So I'd agree with Rosalinda in that it is Dias. Also if you look on that same line and to the first word you find the name "Ramon" in which the "R" looks very different from the name in question.

The second name is Lorenza Banegas. I can see how you can read either Rios or Dias for the first one, although I'm inclined to see Dias: the capitalized R's in the other records are shaped differently than your example, and the capitalized D in the previous record most resembles your example. There looks to be a tail on the last vowel of the name, so I would say Dias.

Nicolás Romo de Vivar (y de los Ángeles) y Mariana de Villalobos (y Carrillo de Sandi) & Nicolás Romo de Vivar (y Tiscareño) y María de Villalobos (y Martín del Campo/López de la Cruz) were two completely different, etirely distinct, granted, with almost exactly similar names and obviously related...but not the ones.

Mine are DIEGO ROMO DE VIVAR y MARIANA DE VILLALOBOS (mis octavos abuelos).

It's not an explanation point, it's a "l" superscript "Migl." Is really Miguel. It's shorthand script the priest used.

There are always marriage and death records. Also wills and other type of civil records. According to my knowledge only the Mexico City baptisms include grandparents around 1770. You can also try dispensas for relatives that married.

Good luck in your search.

Try using the following website put together by a Nuestros Ranchos member:

http://www.guadalajaradispensas.com/

Scroll to the bottom of the page and choose one of the years listed, ex.
2013, under the blog archive.

Then just filter the page by location or last name.

When you find a couple that may look like it's part of your lineage click
on the source film link. Then just enter the page number in front of the
couple (page 1380 in the example below).

Source film: 168087

1380 antonio bacilio avalos & guadalupe gomez / san juan (same as 1364)

I'm not sure if you speak Spanish or not, but these are dispensas or
pardons from the church that allow for the couple to get married by the
church. These documents can be 30 pages long or longer and contain very
valuable information. I've extended my tree by 4 generations in some cases
using dispensas.

Happy hunting,

Hello Peggy,

You can download your Ancestry.com raw file by going through the following steps - http://dna.ancestry.com/atFAQ#raw-3 then you can upload it to www.gedmatch.com to compare your file with people that have used other companies such as FTDNA and 23andme for their testing.

You can also transfer your Ancestry.com to FamilyTreeDNA at https://www.familytreedna.com/landing/atdna-landing.aspx in order to see if you can find matches with people in that database and to join projects. At FTDNA you can also get an mtDNA test.

I noticed you only listed Zenon's birth date as Jun 1820, if you look clearly the document will say "nació oi" which means today, the same day he was baptized. Sometimes, you have to look really closely because "oi" is just written incorrectly for "hoy."

Thanks Daniel. Good eye, I completely missed that.

Armando and Christopher,
This Ramos de Oviedo line my line. D. Juan Ramos de Oviedo son of D. Juan Ramos de León and Da. Angela de Leon were from Sorvilán, in the province of Granda, Andalucía, Spain. I descend from his first wife Manuela Ignacia Nepomucena de Villalobos baptized on 14 Nov 1748 in Tabasco (Villa del Refugio). This family would have settled originally in Jalpa, but later when Juan remarried he moved to Aguascalientes. I have several records, including his dispensas that lists him active as a commercialist around Pinos, Aguascalientes, Jalpa, Calvillo, and Tabasco.

Armando and Daniel,

Thanks for the information, I almost missed it because I haven't been receiving all the emails. Luckily, I saw it on the thread while I was changing my email preferences. It's extremely valuable information, so, I've copied and pasted from the thread on here in case anyone else missed it like myself.

I had a question regarding Andres Martin de Sotomayor, son of Andres Martin de Sotomayor and Beatriz de Mayorga. When I was trying to locate the parents of Antonia Martinez de Sotomayor, I came across the marriage for Andres Martin de Sotomayor that married Juana Cayetana de Villalobos, daughter of Isidro de Villalobos and Angela Diaz de los Ynojos.  https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18403-64936-14?cc=1874591&wc…

My question is, whether he was married twice, both to Juana Cayetana de Villalobos and Francisca Javiera Romo or is he a sibling of the Martin de Sotomayor that married Francisca Javiera Romo?

Chris

Chris, I have to apologize. I incorrectly wrote that Andrés Martín de
Sotomayor married Francisca Javiera Romo de Vivar. I meant to write Joseph
Martín de Sotomayor married Francisca Javiera Romo de Vivar. The tree I
provided correctly has Joseph Martínez (Martín de Sotomayor) as the husband
of Francisca Javiera Romo de Vivar. Also the dispensa shows it is Joseph
Martín de Sotomayor that married Francisca Javiera Romo de Vivar.

Sorry Armando, that was my fault. I read the text before looking at the dispensa. It's a great find.

Estimada Patty,

Tu primo,
Daniel
