Few days ago we were commenting on how in Family Search there is been a huge amount of records modified and wrongly merged (on purpose) by trolls, been the most notorious "Mbarrena" who also goes by other names.

One of the problems in Family Search is the "volunteering" that seems to give "points" to LDS Church members, who many been inexperienced end up confusing names and merging people generations apart. This is still understandable. I'm not referring those here in this topic. I'm exclusively talking about people who intentionally change data even when sources are given to prove it.

This are definitely trolls, they just do it for fun or out of jealousy, they have no intention on helping or collaborating, they just want to mess around with the information.

In that conversation we had in the other topic (which I didn't continue, as it was kind of hijacking the main topic) there was a suggestion to use WikiTree, I checked it out and give it a try, well, it only takes a few moves before you get bombarded by this trolls such as "Don Ximenes", you can tell they hide under silly nicknames, they every connect themselves to the tree, and they spend quite a bit of time changing information instead of researching, in fact they will not add real information, they just go after what has already been posted.

The consequential problem and one that is becoming more eminent is that new comers may think that the data that is been wrongly modified is correct and they en up perpetuating wrong information (without intention) due to the lack of experience.

This is why I think we need to point out this profiles so people are aware of this and hopefully prevent inexperienced researchers from taking data for granted.

Once again, there is nothing better than posting genealogy on personal website and for everyone to keep the records safe in your own files.

I'm looking at the 1754 Padron for Tlaltenango (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSDG-434W?i=6&cat=6850…) and need help understanding what the words are after the names in these two images:

1) http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/25021 On this one what is "Cajero" surely it doesn't mean "Cashier" does it?

2) http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/25022 On this one what do the words "Haredo" or is it "Naredo"? And what does "Riestra" and down near the bottom I can't make out the letters "Fixuto or Fixoto or Sixoto"

Is there someplace where the Padron abbreviation and word meanings are explained?

I have recently done a genealogy test, where I sent some swabs with saliva via mail, and I received results that were a bit surprising. Well, very surprising to me, as a matter of fact. While I know that most of my direct ancestors are from Jalisco and Zacatecas, I understand as well that some came from further like Spain and Italy, as I have heard. But when I saw that my genome was 12 percent Peruvian, well that was unexpected.
How accurate are these tests? I sent it to a reputable place I think. I Have been researching for a bit, and have been lucky to find ancestors up to the fifth generation, but so far all I get is "Yndio," Español", "Mestizo. None say Peruano. I also have North European, and some French and German, I expect that. I have no paper trail however.
Has anyone else found there research does not match their genome ?

Me he dedicado a rastrear en estos días a los Muñoz, residentes del municipio de Calvillo, Aguascalientes. He detectado la línea de origen hasta Miguel Muñoz de Hermosillo y María del Carmen Alonso, que tuvieron por lo menos estos hijos:

-José Antonio Muñoz Alonso. Nació en Milpillas el 7 de julio de 1771. Se casó en San José de Huejúcar (hoy Calvillo) el 13 de julio de 1793 con María Josefa Salazar Valdivia.

-María Rosalía Tiburcia de los Dolores Muñoz Alonso. Bautizada en Aguascalientes el 26 de abril de 1774.

-José Ignacio Muñoz Alonso. Nació cerca del año 1776 en el rancho Milpillas. Se casó en Aguascalientes por el año de 1806 con María Josefa López de Nava Ortega, originaria de dicha Villa.

-Joaquín Muñoz Alonso. Nació en Milpillas, se casó en Aguascalientes el 19 de diciembre de 1799 con María Ruiz Tagle; originaria de Tayahua y viuda de José Valentín Muñoz, residente de Milpillas desde 1794.

-María Guadalupe de Jesús Muñoz Alonso. Nació el 25 de diciembre de 1779.

Me gustaría conocer a los padres y ascendentes de Miguel Muñoz de Hermosillo, que supongo por los apellidos, descenderá de los González de Hermosillo de la región de los Altos. The group is right at 1000 members now. And my request for financial support to upgrade the site messages to the group have been read over a 1000 times and so far I've physically received 19 letters to my PO Box (one letter all the way from France, Thank you Jorge).

Now I'm more or less using this effort to gauge interest in the NR group and so far I'm very disappointed, but such is life. So since it is not about the money here is what I'm willing to do. Maybe the $10 is too much to ask since with Covid and other responsibilities tugging at your bank accounts. So if it is too much I'd like to ask 11 other members to do this: Get a piece of paper and write "IOU $10" and sign it and I'll consider it payable at some time in the future.

En FamilySearch están las correspondientes al Sagrario (Asunción de María) y las de El Señor del Encino. Pero en ninguna de ellas se encuentran las de la Parroquia de la Purísima Concepción.

ok the website has needed to be updated for a few years now as the Drupal is way out of date. I checked with DreamHost who is my ISP and they say they will do it for $300 which I thought was pretty reasonable.

I've been paying for everything since inception in 2002 and I'm NOT going to pay for this. Having said that I'm not going to take the site down if you all refuse to foot this bill. So what do you think would asking each of you to donate $10 be too much to ask? I said $10 because I don't think MANY of you all will separate with a few buck but I do hope 30 of you will. . .but hey surprise me and make me a rich man and flood my mailbox with ten dollar bills.

En la página de family search una persona publicó que Christóbal de Medina y Valdivia, casada con María de Ávila en Aguascalientes (del cual descienden todos los Medina de esa ciudad) era hijo de Nicolás de Medina Rincón Fernández Valalus y Leonor Luevano López de Lizalde. ¿Alguién podría confirmar esa información? No se cita la fuente que establece esa información, y yo por mas que había buscado el origen de este personaje no había encontrado nada, por lo cual me interesa corroborar si lo antes dicho es cierto, o solo se trata de una suposición de alguién. ...a follow up to this case a year later in 1653, a witness to the case above had diligencias filed against her for having born false testimony in the case.

Tradicionalmente se le considera a Sebastián hijo del capitán Francisco de Reynoso y Padilla-Dávila y de Josefa de Rentería y Valdés.

He estado trabajando en la segunda edición de "La Casa de Reynoso" añadiendo los documentos originales e inéditos que tengo de varias ramas, incluyendo genealogías desconocidas como la del duque de Rivas y otros tantos. Últimamente he estado transcribiendo documentos de la parte de la Nueva Galicia cuando me topé con un problema para una rama en específico:

No hay partida de bautismo de Sebastián de Reynoso, esposo de Francisca Ramírez de Hermosillo, y no hay documento alguno que pruebe su filiación.
Mariano lo colocó dentro de los hermanos Reynoso y Rentería pero únicamente por coincidir en fechas.
Lo extraño es que Sebastián no tuvo cargos de cabildo ni capitanías a diferencia de los Reynoso hijos de Francisco y de Josefa. Hasta donde he visto, tampoco figura como padrino de ninguno de los hijos de los Reynoso y Rentería y no lo incluyen dentro de sus negocios como el caso de Nicolás de Reinoso, un mercader asentado en Guadalajara que no reclama parentesco con los Reynoso y Rentería:

"Sepan cuantos esta carta vieren como yo Nicolás de Reinoso, vecino y mercader de esta ciudad de Guadalajara, otorgo que debo y me obligo de pagar a Dn. Joseph Reynoso vecino de la villa de Santa María de los Lagos, y a la persona que tuviese su poder y se presentase su derecho o a el capitán Dn. Francisco de Reinoso su hermano, vecino así mismo de dicha villa..." - 15 de enero de 1699.

En las partidas de bautismo de los hijos de Sebastián algunos aparecen como "X de Reinoso y Padilla" pero invariablemente Sebastián aparece solo como "Sebastián de Reinoso".

Amén de lo anterior existe una partida de matrimonio de fecha 3 de agosto de 1689 donde un Sebastián de Reinoso y Padilla, hijo de padres no conocidos, contrae nupcias con María de Alva Cervantes y Villaseñor. Por las fechas este personaje es contemporáneo de Sebastián esposo de Francisca Ramírez (Gutiérrez de Hermosillo) quienes bautizan una hija el 28 de febrero de 1694. Aparte me llama la atención que -inusualmente- en las partidas de los hijos de esta pareja no figure ningún Reynoso, todos los padrinos son parientes del lado de Francisca Ramírez.

Presumiblemente quien estuviera relacionado con él fuera Catarina Rosa de Reynoso Rentería quien estuvo casada con Juan Ramírez de Hermosillo y Muñoz de la Barba, hermano entero de la esposa de Sebastián y de quien tampoco existe documento contemporáneo que la conecte con el resto de la familia. Curiosamente a Catarina una dispensa de una de sus descendientes la hace hija de Diego de Reynoso y de Margarita de Rentería, lamentablemente esa dispensa tiene errores comprobables y no es del todo confiable.

De no haber evidencia documental sobre el origen de Sebastián, la rama debe permanecer hasta esa generación sin poder conectarlos con la rama del capitán Francisco de Reynoso y su esposa Mariana de Padilla aunque la coincidencia de apellidos podría indicar que Sebastián fue -de alguna forma- descendiente, ya sea por una rama legítima o una natural como el caso del Sebastián que estuvo casado con María de Alva Cervantes Villaseñor.

Hay forma de probar documentalmente y en particular con documentos de la época que Sebastián es hijo legítimo de Francisco de Reynoso y Josefa de Rentería?

Guillermo Tovar de Teresa un día me llamó para decirme que había hallado información indicando que nuestros Rojas eran Rojas y Sandoval y habían estado en la ciudad de Puebla de los Ángeles.

Estos Rojas nos llegaban por nuestra antepasada Margarita López-Portillo y Rojas y ella lo era gracias a su madre María Rojas de López-Portillo, una de las cuatro damas de palacio de la emperatriz Carlota.

Hace poco recibí del AGI el auto de bienes de difuntos de nuestro antepasado Antonio de Rojas y Sandoval en el cual efectivamente indica que previo a ser escribano en el Reino de la Nueva Galicia había sido procurador en Puebla de los Ángeles.
Poco hay de información genealógica pero hay algo que me llamó la atención. A pesar de la atroz letra con la que está escrito el documento Antonio dice que su primo hermano era el escribano Juan de Monteverde.

Sobre Juan hay más información. Fue hermano del también escribano Miguel de Monteverde y ambos eran hijos de Miguel de Monteverde y de Luisa de Monteverde.

Naturalmente pensé que quizás tenían algo que ver con la muy conocida rama de Canarias pero mi sorpresa fue grande al leer en la confirmación de oficio de Miguel que sus Monteverde eran hidalgos naturales de la ciudad de Tortosa en Tarragona. En fin, más que buscar.

Me habría gustado compartir esto con Guillermo y conocer su docta e indispensable opinión pero al no poder hacerlo solo me resta colocarlo aquí por si le es de utilidad a alguien y para decir que efectivamente Guillermo tenía razón, nuestros Rojas habían estado en Puebla.

So far, I've been able to complete the side of our Matriarch's Family Tree and establish connections to the past, but have found myself at a Brick Wall while researching our Patriarch's past.

I've been compiling notes since the late 80s regarding both sides, and have done a lot of research online since, viewing countless record slides on ancestry.com and MyHeritage, and "Googleing" in order to find the missing pieces of the puzzle to complete my Tree. But like he would say, "Nariz de Godornis."

My great-grandfather was Rito Pacheco Rodrígues, born according to a marriage dispensation record in 1871, in Hacienda de Lobatos, Valparaíso, Zacatecas, to José Sabás Pacheco Bueno and Serapia Rodrígues (daughter of Leandro Rodrígues, son of José María Rodrígues). Rito's grand-parents are listed as Petronilo Pacheco and Ramona Bueno. I've not been able to to find any other information on them, except names.

According to the story passed on from my great-grandmother Lorenza Magallanes Franco, daughter of Camilo Magallanes and Francisca Franco, he was hung along with other Villistas in Valparaíso circa 1916. She, along with my grandfather and his youngest siblings, personally witnessed his hanging. She died in 1949, but their oldest sons, Agustín, and Antonio, while alive, were able to corroborate this story. They too were almost killed by a Carranzista firing squad, but according to them and those involved, a last minute message from the Carranzista leadership, prevented them from being executed.

The Tree drawn by Rosendo E. Muñoz, interim priest at the Valparaíso Parrish in 1898, reads as follows:

Researching a building or property can require knowledge of many of the same resources as genealogical research. And it can be an exciting trip into the lives of those who lived or worked there. In this program, we will talk about where to find government records related to a building or property, how to research historical archives for information, and what to look for on site for clues. I use DreamHost as the ISP for the nuestrosranchos.org website. For quite awhile now our version of Drupal has been out of date and DreamHost says they will upgrade to the latest version. (See their emails at the bottom)

For those MANY of you that are Tech savvy here are my questions:

1) Is it possible that updating to the lasted Drupal version will negatively affect the way the website is currently working?
2) right now the website is working ok but I've been told by DreamHost Support that continuing to run with an outdated Drupal Version could lead to problems in the future. Is updating really necessary or not?
3) Are there other things I should consider before updating the Drupal Version?

Well all of those questions are basically the same. I just don't want to spend YOUR money on something that is NOT WORTH IT and possibly could negatively affect the way the website is currently working.

What do the Tech Savvy among you all think?

The Site Update service covers sites updates for the Drupal version installed.

The update will be for the Drupal service in this case looking for the most recent version available and making sure it is compatible with the modules you have on it.

If the website is not updated, it can go down and start to get limitations since will be missing updates for compatibility with the server and supported PHP versions.

Also, it can start to have performance limitations like loading speed.

Let me know if you would like to move forward with the Site Update service.

Hello, this is my first time posting & would greatly appreciate any help.

I am researching the Villalobos of San Juan de Los Lagos, Jalisco. My brickwall is currently Francisco Villalobos (born abt. 1760) & his wife Juana Mendoza. At this time I have found 5 of their children: Esteban, Teodosia, Maria de San Juan Crisostoma, Maria Josefa de San Cristobal, & Marcelina.

None of the baptismal or later marriage records of their children & grandchildren list information about the Villalobos/Mendoza families.

I have a few Villalobos from Aguascalientes as distant relatives however none in my direct line that can be tied to them. Any information or insight would be helpful.

Having a couple of Guerrero in my ancestors lines I stumble upon this name a while back, I didn't had time to research it until this past days, in fact I even forgot about that line (very distant to me actually) until a researcher ask me for some names and thus I decided to give a read to those records, I did found a few children of Juan Guerrero Montesuma(Moctezuma or Motessuma) and Doña Maria de Cardenas all between 1660-80.

I'm not familiar with this name, I've seen lots of research on those names and I wonder if anyone here has more information about it. I know Moctezuma is rather common and so is Guerrero, although as a compounded last name seems to be less common but I couldn't find any thing else in Cocula, I suspect they (like many other families) moved there during the 1600's.

To me is more of a curiosity but it will clear up some of the questions the fellow researchers has asked me about this. Thank you.

Does anyone have any information on "Julio Mercado" born in the early 1800's in Jerez, Zac.? He was married to Francisca Pacheco Alvarado. I found several of their children's marriage and death records, but not their birth records because there is a gap in these church records from 1850-1866 in Jerez. The films on this site show a listing of these missing years, but I did not actually find these years' records in them. His death record lists his parents as "Gerardo Alvarado - not Mercado" and Eufemia Rodriquez, but I question this since that is the exact same name of the informants 'maternal' grandfather. I can not find any records of any kind for these parents; Gerardo and Eufemia. His age at death of 105 in 1916 is also questioned since he lists his age in earlier documents as being born in the late 1820's and/or early 1830's. I've hit a brick wall for years on this line.
