PBS Researcher Needs Help

If anyone in the group would like to work on this project it would be great
if you would bring some attention to the http://nuestrosranchos.org group if
the findings get presented on PBS.

Here is some information I received directly from Aaron with some info
posted on the Zacatecas rootsweb group included at the bottom:

As stated before, I am a researcher for a PBS show called Finding Your
Roots, that explores race, culture, and identity through the genealogies and
family histories of notable celebrities.
I am trying to trace the line of Jose de La Lus Ramirez, born March 1781 in
Jerez, Zacatecas, and the line of Joseph Antonio Luciano Caldera, born
December 14, 1755 in El Durazno, Zacatecas, and died Jun 19, 1799 in El
Durazno, Zacatecas.
We're trying to see if we can take these two people's families back to
Spain, which would probably be about two or three generations. We've already
checked the obvious places for records but have turned nothing up, so if
there is anyone with any leads or who would be interested in helping out, we
would be enormously appreciative.
I did some searching on your site and found Miguel Caldera, who has obvious
ties to Spain (through his father) and while it is entirely unknown whether
Joseph Antonio Luciano Caldera is related to him, it could be a lead?

anyone who could attempt to do this? The answer may lie in civil or church

Introducing my self /Ugarte y Loyola

Thank you for allowing me to be part of their group!

My name is Martha, I am mexican married with a german man and living in Germany.

I have been studying my genealogy for over 7 years. One of my ancestors was Jacobo Ugarte y Loyola, who was born in Cegama, Guipuzcoa, Espana. He was a militar sent to New Spain where he was Governor of Coahuila and Puebla and General Commandant of the Internal Provinces, and latter Mayor (Intendente) of Guadalajara, he died in Guadalajara, Jalisco in august 1798. According with Juan Bautista Iguínez, he made his will also in August 1798 ahead of Manuel Francisco de Ortea. He rested in San Francisco´s temple also in Guadalajara.

Unfortunately I was not able to know the contest of his will neither to visit the temple.

I hope someone can help me to find more information about him and his will!

regards,

Martha

Matrimonkio of My GGGG Grandparens Francisco Madera with Maria Leocadia Huizar 1760

Oh my God! I found the matrimonio of my GGGG Grandparents Francisco Madera and Maria Leocadia De Huizar which is in the year 1760 and I am shocked from where it says about their origins!

http://oi62.tinypic.com/ot233n.jpg

Source:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18447-27558-8?cc=1874591&wc=…

What???? I am stunned! I cleary have Francisco Madera and Maria Leocadia De Huizar son, Juan Venancio (Benancio) Madera Espanol being born in "Rancho De Los Maderas in 1762! Which I have posted earlier:

http://oi60.tinypic.com/9kmdn8.jpg

Also have proof in a defunto record when Maria Leocadia De Huizar Espanola passed away in 1813 at 30 that she is from Rancho De Ximulco:

http://oi60.tinypic.com/sglc77.jpg

So that makes Francisco Madera the brother of Lazaro Madera (which I posted ealier) since their parents are "Blas Madera and Maria Theresa Abila.

Francisco Madera would also be the uncle of "Marcelo Madera" who was the owner of "Rancho De Los Maderas" in a census of 1828 (I only copied first page) where it shows "Don Marcelo Madera and Juana Ramirez" first on the list:

http://oi61.tinypic.com/2820pz5.jpg

This also makes Marcelo Madera first cousin of my paternal GGG Grandfather Juan Venancio (Benancio) Madera. Funny is they are both my GGG Grandfathers since both of them have direct lineage to my Grandfather Antonio Madera Madera. Where Juan Benancio Madera goes through my grandfather's paternal side and Marcelo Madera goes through my grandfathers maternal side:

Antonio Madera Madera:

Paternal Side:
Calixto Madera De La Paz (Ximulco, Cerro Blanco
Patricio Madera (1792 Ximulco)/Maria Dimas De La Paz, Espanola
Juan Venancio Madera Espanol 1762 Rancho Maderas/Maria Josefa? Geronima Fernandez?
Joseph Francisco Madera(Rancho Madera) /Maria Leocadia De Huizar (Ximulco)
Blas Madera/Maria Theresa Abila

Maternal Side:

Maria Clemencia Madera (Rancho De Los Maderas)wife of Calixto Madera De La Paz
Benito Madera (Rancho De LosMadera)1833/Maria Estanislada Ramirez
Marcelo Madera (Rancho De Los Madera) /Juana Ramirez
Lazaro Madera (Rancho De Los Madera)/Juana Micaela Perales
Blas Madera/Maria Theresa Abila

Oh my God did we Maderas originate from Mesquitic and moved over to Huejuquilla? So when did "Rancho De Los Madera's was founded? Because then I assume it could have been founded by either Blas Madera or the son Francisco Madera. But it making me think it could Blas Madera that founded Rancho De Los Madera's after coming over from Mesquitic.

At the same time the parents of my GGGG Grandmother Maria Loecadia Huizar, Espanola (Ximulco) who are Pedro Huizar and Maria Magdalena Navarette, Espanoles from Valparaiso came over to Huejuquilla and established themselves at Rancho Ximulco where Maria Leocadia De Huizar, Espanola was born.

Wow! But anyway to describe how my Grandfather Antonio Madera Madera looks like, he has a light complexion with blue eyes. Also a very old man in Huejuquilla by the last name Rimoldi told me he met my Great Grandfather Calixto Madera when he was already old in the early 1900's. And he describe him as looking very European with blue eyes. Most of Dad's brother and sisters have blue eyes but my Dad and another sister have brown eyes.

Emigración de grupos Ingleses a Jalisco/Emigration from England to Jalisco

Saludos!

Puentes Y-DNA

I need to hook up with anyone in the group that can answer a question or two
about Facebook. I am currently lining up individuals from facebook whose
listed surname is Puentes. I have started sending out messages inviting
these potential members of my family to do a comparison Y-DNA test.

My question regarding Facebook:

1) A long while back I got suspended for sending out Too Many message
invitations to the Vegan Podcast I started. Now being out of touch with FB
for awhile I don't know their current policy. Are you aware of how many
messages I can send per day to "non-friends" via copy and paste before I get
put on the "Watch" list for possible suspension of my privileges?

Your help is much appreciated as I'd like to send out some messages everyday
but want to stay a bit below the threshold of where FB's red flags start
appearing.

Thanks,

Joseph

Now I am more stunned that I just realized that Ed Serros, one of the
members of this website has already found my GGGGG Grandfather Blas Madera
and I copied the part in what he wrote on one of my past posts:

"I too have family from the areas you describe. For what it is worth, I
have repeatedly found the Madera family not only in Huejuquilla el Alto but
in the nearby town of Mezquitic, Jalisco. The marriages and baptisms of the
Maderas in Mezquitic date back to at least 1686 (Mormon film numbers
1164940 and 1164952). I suspect this is the same family since these towns
were all frontier land back then. The elite (well-to-do mestizos, criollos,
and the rare peninsular) all intermarried; distance was not a major issue
but "class" was. It was preferable to marry a non-NAI. The ultimate prize
for a criollo family was to marry a peninsular but it was OK to marry
another criollo or well-to-do mestizo (re-labeled "espanol"), near as I can
figure from my review of centuries of records in the local area and books
that I have read. Bottom line: I think we are talking about the same Madera
family, with branches thereof. Also by 1686, at least one of the Madera
family members, Blas Madera, so
n of Joseph Madera and Josepha Basquez, was labeled as mestizo. He married
into the espanol Avila family: wife Maria Theresa Avila, daughter of Miguel
de Avila and Gertrudis de Robles, both "espanoles." The Robles and Madera
family continued to intermarry for at least a century or two."

Thank you Ed Serros! That is the Blas Madera who is my GGGGG Grandfather
and to confirm it the wife is Maria Theresa Avila.

So Blas Madera is the son of Joseph Madera and Josepha Basquez? That gives
me another generation to make them my GGGGGG Grandparents.

I am also curious about Pedro Huizar and Maria Magdalena Navarette who are
from Valparaiso and the parents of my GGGG Grandmother Maria Leocadia De
Huizar.

Ronnie,

This is my line. Independently, as historians or researchers we must prefer
primary sources, as in documents that were made in the moment of the event.
Thus, a marriage record is primary due to the fact that the marriage is
occurring before the priest. A dispensa would be considered secondary,
though it can be primary if a witness actually knew the ancestors and had
information pertaining to the ancestry of an individual. Could you pass the
link where I can study this dispensa? I am interested. I have already found
numerous dispensas with major errors, others with only some mistakes; for
the most part they are very reliable.

I descend from Nicolas Diaz de Tiscareno in the following manner, just to
mention a couple of generations:

Subject: Fojas Perdidas

Hi Joseph,
The Hispanic Heritage Project has just started a project called “Fojas Perdidas.” We as researchers will come against a wall where the paper trail has come to an abrupt end where there are no records. Our quest is to find those records.
For those of us who are doing Hispanic research in Mexico, we use FamilySearch, which is our greatest source of information. We are eternally grateful for the work that the Utah Genealogy Society has done in microfilming the Catholic sacramental records as well as the Priest who diligently recorded that history. We likewise are indebted to FamilySearch in digitizing those records and continuing imaging more records and having access to those images online.
What most researchers are not aware of is that when the Utah Genealogy Society microfilmed the parish records, they filmed the copies that were kept in the diocese. As is the practice, the Church requires each parish to create two copies. One is kept at the parish and the other sent to the diocese archive. We have found that sometimes not all the copies made their way to the diocese and are still in the parishes not yet filmed or imaged. These are the missing records we shall find and image. In a few cases there were small parishes that were not filed at all. Our goal is to identify those fojas perdidas and work to get them online.
This requires a small pueblito. We have a volunteer camera operator to image the records, but we need volunteers to create tables of content of the images that are online. Then the camera operator can use it to identify the missing records so they can then be imaged and made available on FamilySearch. Since one of the areas we are looking into is Jalisco we are hoping maybe Nuestros Ranchos would join our effort. Give it some thought and if you think that is possible please give me a call.

Two Offspring of Pedro De Huizar/Maria Magdalena Navarette(Valparaiso) Married into My Madera Ancestors (Huejuquilla)

I am just finding out new information and just realized that Pedro De Huizar and Maria Magalena Navarette of Valparaiso had two sons that married into my Madera ancestors:

In 1760, Maria Leocadia De Huizar with Francisco Madera
In 1784, Justo De Huizar with Polonia Casilda Madera

Polonia Madera is the daughter of Lazaro Madera/Juana Micaela Perales. Lazaro Madera is the brother of Francisco Madera both of whom are in Rancho De Los Maderas at that time. Maria Leocadia de Huizar resided in Rancho Ximulco.

Here is a copy of the marriage between Justo De Huizar (Valparaiso) and Polonia Casilda Madera (Rancho De Los Maderas):

http://oi61.tinypic.com/21n1pnb.jpg

Source:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18449-5393-26?cc=1874591&wc=…

And in the census (Padrones) of 1828, Polonia Madera was 66 years old and also lists some of the people with "Huizar" surnames right under her name. This is from Rancho De Los Maderas:

http://oi61.tinypic.com/28lchdz.jpg

Source:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18448-6102-19?cc=1874591&wc=…

So then Marcelo Madera, who is the son of Lazaro Madera/Juana Micaela Perales, is the brother of Polonia Madera. He is listed first on the list.

Hijo lejitimo digo de padres no conosido

I have commonly seen the term "hijo de padres no conosidos" which I understand.

I occasionally see the term "hijo lejitimo digo de padres no connsidos." What does this mean? If the child is legitimate, why are the parents' names not given?

The records I am researching are baptisms of Indians in the 1800-1815 period. "Padres no conosidos" is very common, perhaps more than a third of the baptisms.

Delgado, Chevarria, Martin Chaves

I'm reguesting a lead on Bartholome Delgado and Francisca Merquelin Chevarria my 9th Great grandparents. They married on April 3, 1701 in Pinos, Zacatecas. I have their marriage dispensation that provides their parents names Francisco Delgado and
Petra Martin Chaves and Francisco Merquelin Chevarria and Juana Delgado y Valensuela.

Marriage Dipensation Guadalajara, Diocesis de Guadalajara, matrimonios 1700-1705 Source number 168605/159-162.

Through information from Nuestros Ranchos I also have validation that when widowed Francisco Delgado married Juana Delgado y Valensuela in 1700 at Pinos, Zacatecas.

I would appreciate help in finding documentation to continue my tree!

Matrimonio of Lazaro Madera/Juana Micaela Perales 1758 Huejuquilla El Alto

Found the matrimonio of the Lazaro Madera and Juana Micaela Perales in the year 1758, Huejuquilla El Alto, Jalisco, Mexico.

Lazaro Madera and Juana Micaela Perales are the "maternal" ggg grandparents of my grandfather "Antonio Madera Madera" since my paternal great grandparents are Calixto Madera De La Paz and Maria Clemencia Madera. So that makes Lazaro Madera and Juana Micaela Perales my gggg grandparents through side of Maria Clemencia Madera.

Here is part of the copy of the matrimonio in 1758:

Lazaro Madera is the son of "Blas Madera and Theresa De Abila"

This is great because now I found another generation "Blas Madera" to keep backtracking.

In 1783 Lazaro Madera passed away from a lightening strike. His wife Juana Micaela Perales passed away at the age of 68 in 1804.

The son of Lazaro Madera is name Marcelo Madera and in the census of 1828 Marcelo Madera is first on the list as the owner of Rancho De Los Maderas.

I am still trying to find who the parents are of Francisco Madera. Francisco Madera is the paternal ggg grandfather of my grandfather Antonio Madera Madera. Francisco Madera and Maria Leocadia De Huizar are my Paternal gggg grandparents.

Francisco Madera/Maria Leocadia De Huizar
Lazaro Madera/Juana Micaela Perales

Are the same generations of paternal and maternal ggg grandparents of my grandfather Antonio Madera Madera and they are my gggg grandparents.
