Zermeño de San Julian

ENGLISH
I'm specifically looking for the ancestors and family members of:

Salvatore Zermeño born circa 1900 either in Leon, Gto. or San Julian, Jal.
Salvatore's father was Juan Zermeño Muñoz (or Juan Muñoz Zermeño ) born circa 1875 in San Julian and married to Francisca Vázquez.

I'd appreciate it if someone could send any portion of their family tree to help me piece together the Zermeños from San Julian.

SPAM - on Nuestros Ranchos

Just want to let everyone who gets email from Nuestros Ranchos, that it has been infiltrated with a Spam sender. I have received 2 emails from here and there's another one today with the title "terry acres". There is nothing written with the email, just a link.

I hope the webmaster can put a stop to this send out as it keeps coming back with the NR forward as a legitimate member from NR.

* Antonio Cortez Hernandez and Ma Manuela Alvarado Ortiz

* Jose Refugio Cortez and Alejandra Hernandez

Antonio Cortez and Ma Manuela Alvarado had two kids. Eusebio Cortez and Refugio Cortez.....Refugio born 1933.

Jose Refugio Cortez and Alejandra Hernandez well I know only of one kid which is Antonio Cortez.

I need help.

I believe I finally found my ancestors?! (The Villagrana's of Zacatecas)

I had found a public family tree under the name De la Garza. I found a Felix Villagrana in this tree. If anyone here thinks they might me connected to these people here, let me know! I will put what information I found here:

Francisco Villagrana: b. unknown d. unknown
Spouse: Manuela Espino: b. unknown d. unknown
Son: Nabor Villagrana

Nabor Villagrana: b. unknown d. unknown
Spouse: Maria Trinidad Rivera: b. unknown d. unknown
Son: Guillermo Villagrana

Guillermo Villagrana: b. 1837 d. 1880
Spouse: Maria De La Luz Macias: b. 26 June 1840 d. unknown
Children: 8

Felix (-)
Jose Maria (-)
Adeliado (1859-)
Nicolas (1861-)
Maria Josefa (1866-)
Leonardo (1867-1955)
Martina (1870-)
Felipa Del Refugio (1872-)

NOTES: Some of these names were passed down the family line.

On Felix Villagrana death certificate-it states his name as being "Villagrana" though in the 1920's, he signed his name as "Villagran." It also shows his birth date as being 12 July 1850. If he is the same Felix in the above family tree, his mother would have been only 10 yrs old?! And his father only 13?!

Though the name of Felix Villagrana's father is unknown on the death certificate, his mother's name was listed as: Unknown(Maria) This is just speculation, but I wonder if she was the Maria De La Luz Macias mentioned above?

The public tree acknowledges that Felix and Jose Maria Villagrana were the youngest, though their birth dates were not listed.

Again, if anyone has any more info, let me know! :)

Why we do Genealogical Research

Dear Nuestros Ranchos Members,

I just had to share this feel good story with those who would understand.

This morning after coming back from the Gym, I was making breakfast and the phone rang. My Grandson answered the phone and it was someone speaking in Spanish to him, which is not all that unusual but he immediately passed it to me.

I answer and the man's voice says in spanish, eres Alicia and I say yes, he says, me llamo Rigoberto Ruiz y hablo de Jalpa Zacatecas. My mind is trying to register who is Rigoberto Ruiz. He then says, soy Primo hermano de tu mama y hablo para darte las Gracias. Translation is I'm your mother's first cousin and I'm calling from Jalpa Zacatecas and I'm calling to thank you.

My mind is still not registering as I've never met a Rigoberto Ruiz from Jalpa Zacatecas. I begin to ask him questions such as how are we related, how did you know who I am and how to reach me etc etc. He gave a good answer!!

Two years ago I met a young man, his wife and family from Fresno Calif. Turns out he's my third cousin and he had recently gone to Jalpa to visit his family.

When I met them, they came to the house, I gave them copies of all my research of the Ruiz family. Most people don't really get it,(Genealogy) nor do they care, but he did. We talked a great deal about the Ruiz genealogy and he seemed to treasure the Genealogy charts. He shared details about the Ruiz family that I treasured

When this cousin Ruben went to Jalpa this spring, he shared the Genealogy charts with his uncle Rigoberto. His uncle said he'd been wondering for years about his ancestors, he said with his voice cracking a bit that he just had to call and thank me for doing all this research and for providing it to him and the family.
I told him that I look forward to meeting him and all my aunts, cousins and uncles some day soon.

Thought it was worth sharing, especially for those who are beginning their research and at times may feel that it's sooo time consuming and not worth the trouble. It's moments like this that makes it so worthwhile.

Look Up request - Teocaltiche Baptism 1711

Does anyone have Film # 0634015, Baptisms, Nuestra Senora de los Dolores, Teocaltiche, Jalisco?

I sent a request to the main FHC in Salt Lake for a copy of the image of the baptism for:

Bernabe Trujillo, baptized 14 JUN 1711, Batch C024197. He might be listed as Pedro Bernabe Trujillo. His parents were Jose Trujillo and Ana Lauriana (no last name).

The photoduplication service advised me they couldn't find the image on the film, saying the film is difficult to read.

Hi, I had a question...Is it possible for Mexican couples such as in the 1800's, to have gotten married as early as 10 and 13 yrs old? If so, I think I've finally stumbled onto something...

As you know, I have been trying to research my great grandfather Felix Villagrana and related Villagran/Villagrana ancestors from Zacatecas, Mexico. I think I may have found the people I was looking for! So far, everything I've found with this family has matched my suspicions and clues I had from family...

Gonzalez de Hermosillo

To: Rick Rodriguez

This is the information that I have, I hope it helps to answer your question about the Gonzalez de Hermosillo and the Gonzalez Rubio.

Diego Gonzalez de Hermosillo was married to Maria Rubio
Their son: Francisco Gutierrez de La Vega Y Rubio B:1551 married Ana Gonzalez Florida in 1576 , Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco. Source: LDS Batch F868025 Film 1396255.

Their children:
Ana Gonzalez Florida II (1594-1672)
Capt. Miguel Gutierrez Rubio
Maria Gonzalez (abt. 1577)
Diego Gonzalez Rubio (abt. 1597)
Francisco Gutierrez Rubio II (abt.1595)
Catalina Gutierrez Rubio (abt.1597-1667)

Notice their last names: Capt. Miguel, Francisco, and Catalina used "Gutierrez Rubio"
Diego used "Gonzalez Rubio". Maria used "Gonzalez". Ana used "Gonzalez Florida, like her mother.

Diego Gonzalez Rubio married Polonia de Torres.

I guess the answer to your question about the relation between the Gonzalez de Hermosillo and the Gonzalez Rubio, is that, Diego Gonzalez Rubio was the son of Diego Gonzalez de Hermosillo.

Hello everyone: I would like to know if anyone has information about VITELA family from Zacatecas, specially from Jalpa, Miguel Auza (Mezquital del Oro) or surounding areas to Jerez. I have seen there are many NR members that research in Jerez records and I think there is a possibility you have seen Vitela family members there. Unfortunately I have not gotten many information about my ancestors caused by the cristeros who burned many records for Zacatecas. I know about my ggfather Francisco Vitela borned in Jalpa, Zac., in 1868, whos' parents were Gorgonio Vitela and Fermina Lopez (b. abt 1840), but I do not have any idea where they were from. What I found, were many Vitelas in Miguel Auza, but I have not been able to connect them with my direct line. I would appreciate very much if someone has information that can help me out.

Sincerely

Alesandro Vitela

Thank You To All

I want to say thank you to all members here in this website. Because with your research that all of you have done and sharing of information, it has helped me to locate where our ancestors came from.

As for instance, I was curious into finding out where the Madera's originally came from. And some of you shared your family trees with me and it is Asturias, Spain.

The Madera's of the Huejuquilla/Mezquitic, Jalisco, Mexico, region. I have been doing my family tree also.

This helps a lot and also to show this website to people in our pueblo so they get a first glimpse of where are ancestors originally came from.

Thank you to all for sharing information and keep up the good work.

General Digest, Vol 52, Issue 2

Alicia,

That is such a touching story! I have been asked numerous times why I was so interested in genealogy. As a matter of fact, my husband was not convinced that it was of much importance and felt that I was just "spinning my wheels", until just this year. My husband's father passed away, and with him went his entire family's history. Unfortunately, his mother died many years ago and he did not have a good relationship with his father. Initially, I tried to speak to his father about his family, but my husband discouraged it. Instead, I focused on my side of my family and have been able to trace my roots back to the 1780's. With the loss of his father, he is now beginning to understand.....

Thanks for that wonderful story, Alicia. I feel inspired to pursue my husband's genealogy - someday it may be my own son who might be wondering about his history!
