Prieto, Delgadillo, Medrano

Raymond,

Surname: Macias

My name is Amelia Macias. I'm trying to get information on relatives on my father's side of the family. At this time, I have very little information to go on, but hope that as I research chruch records, and known relatives that I may be able to supply information in more detail.

My father, Jose Jesus Tostado Macias was born in Jalpa, Zacatecas in 1923. He has siblings by the names of Antonio (died in Aguascalientes), Angel (no info but presume he was born in Jalpa), Socorro born in Jalpa and died there at age 32 or so. my father Jose Jesus and the youngest, Jovita born in Jalpa ( 10 April 1931 (married Andres Marin also from Jalpa, were married in Jalpa).

My grandfather was Jose Macias born about 1860 - 1880 in Jalpa. Grandmother's last name was Tostado, first name unknown also birthdate unknown, but believe she died in 1960 in Jalpa. May have been married between 1900 - 1910 and I assume in Jalpa as well.

My father believes that my Tio Antonio's family (wife Socorro he thinks) and their children still live in Jalpa.

If you have any information about the Macias' of Jalpa, Zacatecas, please feel free to contact me. I will post more info as I acquire it. If at all possible, please write in English, but Spanish is OK too.

Respectfully, Amelia Macias

LOOK UP REQUEST-SAGRADA MITRA BOOK

Hola Members Y Primos, I have searching for Vicente Hermosillo . I looked in San Juan de Los Lagos and Lagos de Moreno matrimonios around 1740 to 1760 ( can't remember)any way no dice. I figured around 1755 because of son Juan de La Trinidad Hermosillo birth. Vicente Hermosillo married Maria Inez de La Trinidad Martin de Padilla daughter of Miguel Geronimo Geronimo Martin del Campo and Josefa Padilla Davila born on 05 may 1726 ,San Juan de Los Lagos. Could some one look up in La Sagrada Mitra to see if Vicente Hermosillo and Maria Inez De La Trinidad Martin De Padilla Marriage
is in there, hoping to give a lead on Vicente Hermosillo's parents ect.
Thank you for your time and effort

Martha DuronJimenez Books

John Gonzalez,

A while ago you mentioned a book by Martha Duron Jimenez.

I am wondering if you know of a book of hers that lists her Duron ancestors.

One of my husband's lines are the Durons of Aguascalientes.

In his lines are also those surnames you mentioned were in her book "Familias Endogamicas en Saltillo y Los Altos de Jalisco", the Gonzalez, Martin, Munos, Perez, etc., but right now I would like to know more about the Durons of Aguascalientes.

Thanks,

"Calavera Highway" - on PBS

Just wondering if anyone else had seen the documentary, "Calavera Highway", a 'Point of View' (POV) documentary that aired on PBS (I saw it last night, Sep 16), but others may have seen it the night before last. This is not a genealogical story, but it is a family history story. The following is a brief description of the documentary:

"Brothers Armando and Carlos go on a road trip to reunite their siblings, and return their mother's ashes to South Texas. Their journey takes them across the American west and central past, and they probe not only Rosa's life, but their own struggles to find identities as men and as fathers."

You can read more at this PBS link:

(And take time to read some of the other links associated with this documentary, as well as comments that have been posted here): http://www.pbs.org/pov/blog/2008/09/whats_your_pov_about_calavera.html

Centros de Historia Familiar

Hola Victor,

Me
algunos libros.

Un saludo cordial,

The value of our work...

Hello all. I'd like to share a short personal anectdote, which I am sure most of you will appreciate.

My grandfather visited us this week; he lives in norther California, we live in Southern California. Basically, I started my research after his visit last summer, when I interviewed him on his family history. It had been a year since I last saw him and had not shared any of my genealogical research because I wanted to share the details with him in person.

I have amassed 250 years of documentation of his direct relatives from Moyahua, Zacatecas. His reaction to my findings was priceless! It was pure joy to see his face light up at the mention of some of his aunts' and uncles' names that he had forgotten; he's 81 after all!

He was also very surprised that many of his ancestors had "mixed" with some of the other families in Moyahua. Mostly because he said he never knew he descended from such-and-such (surname), as there are many residents in Moyahua with such-and-such surname and most certainly his relatives!

He laughed, cried, and I literally imagined my grandfather as he might have been in his prime. A side of him that I had never seen.

Let us not forget our elders and to those of us who are fortunate enough to still have them with us - let us spend as much time as we possibly can with them.

Buenas noches.

Lookup request - Sagrada Mitra book

I have a lookup request for anyone who has a copy of Luz Montejano
Hilton's book.

Joseph Antonio Gonzalez de Hermosillo and Ysabel Josepha de la Mora
Hurtado de Mendoza were married on 28 Aug 1748 at San Felipe, Cuquio,
Jalisco. They received a marriage dispensation because they were
related "en cuarto grado de consanguinidad". I imagine the
dispensation would be dated late July or early to mid August 1748.
Thank you.

Boehm research

http://www.boehm-chronik.com/forschung/aufgaben-engl.htm

Guenter,

Bon voyage tomorrow. How exciting your trip sounds.

I found the link above that I found in your message below to be very enlightening about how one can possibly trace ancestors in Europe, not through church records that only go back to the Reformation in the 1400s, but through tax books, court records, minutes of manorial systems, subject lists, soldiers' pay books, mercenary lists, prisoner lists, etc. I also now understand how knights (professional soldiers) went into civil service as castellans (royal military civil servants, with no royal titles, of the sovereigns).

I have gained a clearer understanding of naming systems, etc. from one of your posts recently. I browsed through your website despite the fact it is mostly in German. It is so well organized and informative. I sure wish I could read your notes, or be in your class, about how these landless knights survived under the new feudal manorial systems when they had no wars to go to. I look forward to more information from you in the future.

Regards,

Emilie

Hola amigos de Nuestros Ranchos,

on the 15th of this month we will go again to the homeland of my family to preside among others an international competition of high school students in history from Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany. The title will be: "Silesian Castles and Palaces". The event will take place at Schloss Tannhausen http://www.jedlinka.pl/ . I will represent the family Boehm, owners until the end of World War II in 1945.

My contribution to this event will be:
How did the landless knights (castellan/burgrave) survive in the newly formed administration of the feudal countryside (manorial system/Grundherrschaft) around 1400 in Silesia?
more: http://www.boehm-chronik.com/seminars.htm

We will be back in the beginning of October.

Best regards from Upstate New York,

Correcting IGI Mistake

Hi, All:
I had gotten some information from the LDS Family Search Site, on the
International Genealogical Index, IGI, and had used it to guide my research
and to add to my ancestral chart I put on this site. It is in regards to
the Martin del Campo family that I have been researching in Jalisco. What
the IGI record showed was basically a Tomas Martin del Campo, who was the
son of Tomas Martin del Campo and Nieves Muniz, with her parents shown as
Ynes Muniz and Ysidra Alcala. What I found in a microfilm record was the
following, which shows a different name than Ysidra ALCALA, though Alcala
may be one of her names, such as her mother's or father's and the record I
found shows the other name she used interchangeably. Well, here's the
record:

LDS Family History Library Film No. 38480; Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico;
Santuario de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe parish records; Bautisimos
1855-1862:

Tomas Martin del Campo, baptized 10-29-1857 in the parish church of the
Santuario de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe, Guadalajara, born 10-28-1857,
legitimate son of Tomas Martin del Campo and Niebes Muniz; paternal
grandparents: Alejandro Martin del Campo and Tomasa Romero; maternal
grandparents: Ynes Muniz and Maria Ysidra CASILLAS.

So, Ysidra may have been both Ysidra Alcala and Casillas, but I don't know
that yet. As far as I can tell now, it may have been misread by the person
who extracted the information that was put on the IGI.

In any case, other than this particular surname, I have verified the parents
of both Tomas Martin del Campo and Nieves Muniz to place me a little further
along in my progress. I am very relieved to have finally made some headway
in this family. I had gotten the film hoping to find his brother's baptism,
Ismael Martin del Campo's, who is my direct ancestor, but he was not on that
one, perhaps born earlier than I had calculated.

Take care, everyone, and good luck in your searching!
