Nuestros Ranchos Site

Abram,

It is a tedious job and I only wish there was an easier way to go through the pages, but unfortunately I don't know of any. On the other hand if you know the year that you believe your ancestor might have lived in the area you can guess estimate a place within the file for the year. For instance, let's say there 600 images for the years 1881-1889 entering 150 at the image number box would advance you a 150 images.

Good luck,

Juanita

Hi Abram,

I think you've been searching for them on family search only by typing the exacts names you have. You have to be aware that sometimes the surnames of both parents are not mentioned in the records. Also sometimes, the surname or names can change to one similar but not the same such as Velasco for Velasquez, as one of these records I'm passing to you do. Here's what I've found.

José Francisco A. Alvares parents listed as Juan Manuel A. and Jacinta Quiteria Albares.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N1PV-T5S

Simon Antonio, parents listed as Juan Ambrosio and Quiteria Velasques
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NVQ8-ZHL

Juan José Fermin, parents listed as Juan Ambrosio and Quiteria de Olaya
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N8QV-WSZ

José María, parents listed as Juan Ambrosio and María Quiteria
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NVQD-C7P

María Francisca parents listed as Juan Ambrosio de Armas and Quiteria de Velasco
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NVQ8-VQT

In my opinion all these children are from the same couple, this changes of names do happen. I advise you to try to do the same thing with the marriage. Just try to put on the range of years correctly, the place and only one of the couples names like "Ambrosio" or "Quiteria" without the surname. You'll have a great amount of couples but you need to check for them to see if the surname is wrong written or translated and that's the reason you don't find it.

Good luck, hope this helps you.
Enrique Agraz

Abram,

Don't give up and keep trying. After 9 long years of searching, I finally found my father in-laws birth record. Everyone always said he was born in 1901 in Nochistlan, Zacatecas. I exhausted the search for the films of 1901, there's about half a year missing.

Today I found his birth record, he was born in 1902 in La Cienega, Nochistlan Zacatecas. I thought I'd never find it and that it was missing from the 1901 records. When he was alive, he had a surrogate birth record made in Nochistlan to which several people had to attest that they knew him and his parents and knew he was from Nochistlan and from the year 1901. He was born the 9th of January 1902 and baptized the 25th of January of the same year. Antonio Carrillo, son of Francisco Carrillo and Mariana Jauregui.

So you see, it's not always easy, you have to keep at it and not give up.

Alicia

Subject: [Nuestros Ranchos] Any info on Ambrosio De Armas or Quiteria De Velasco??

Armando,

I have not found their marriage record yet.The only info i have from them is their duaghter Francisca baptism record.im really not that sure about that second link their? but thats about it.iv'e tried looking so hard for any more info on them but nothing.

Abram,

You still have a lot to learn about genealogical research. I never asked
you if you have found or looked at the marriage record. I was asking if you
have looked at the marriage records for other people with the surname
Armas, those records can sometimes provide clues, as can baptisms for other
people with the surname Armas.

I was hoping you were going to understand what Enrique Agraz pointed out,
especially since you have seen this with other families. The surnames won't
always be spelled the same and can sometimes be transcribed incorrectly.
Remember Alba and Albarez? That should have been a clue to you for future
investigations.

The second link I had given you mentions the parents as Juan Antonio de
Armas and Quiteria Velasquez but that could be due to a bad transcription.
The names and links that Enrique provided make it even more believable.
They likely transcribed Ambrosio incorrectly as Antonio. Take note of the
godparents of all of the baptisms. Sometimes the granparents are padrinos.
Other times they can be aunts, uncles, or cousins.

After you have done that don't forget to go through the volumes of

On the following website
http://historiasyrecuerdosdeencarnaciondediaz.com/macias.html#num37 (which
has some errors so be careful) it says the following - "Don Santiago de
(González-Leal 1983:116)"

Bill Figueroa might be able to point us to that información matrimonial
since it's not in the index of información matrimonial records created by
George Fulton. Once that información matrimonial is found we can say these
were two different people named Santiago de Pedroza

Santiago de Pedroza y Nava was baptized 22 July 1667 in Lagos de Moreno.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18567-42351-10?cc=1874591&wc…

The following record has the wrong year
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NRVT-NL9

His parents Marcos de Pedroza y Alba and María (Isabel) de Nava were
married 10 August 1657 in Lagos de Moreno

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18684-24784-65?cc=1874591&wc…

Marcos de de Pedroza y Alba was the son of Santiago de la Pedrosa and Juana
Bautista de Alba y Retamosa. There is no baptism record for this Marcos and
no marriage record for his parents. I can't go any further back on this
line.

María (Isabel) de Nava was the daughter of my ancestors Tomás de Villalobos
y Pérez de Nava and Catarina Macías Valadez y Villegas. Tomás de Villalobos
y Pérez de Nava was the son of Cristóbal de Villalobos and María Pérez.
Catarina Macías Valadez y Villegas was the daughter of Pedro Macías Valadez
and Luisa de Villegas. Contrary to what many people have in their trees,
books, and websites Pedro Macias Villegas that married Luisa de Villegas
was not the Pedro Macias Valadez baptized 11 July 1619 son of Felipe Macias
Valadez because Pedro Macias Valadez and Luisa de Villegas had their first
child on 30 January 1617 (Catarina Macias might have been born even earlier
but there is no baptism record for her). It's not possible for Pedro Macias
Valadez to have had children before he was baptized, therefore they are two
different Pedro Macias Valadez.

Saludos,
Armando

No David do not apologize. I appreciate all the help. I have 3 years of high school Spanish and that was 30 years ago. Unfortunately, I have seldom had taken the opportunity to keep up my skills. So I find myself struggling to understand the documents. And then add the horrible handwriting and the different script styles and the abbreviations all this at times wants me to pull my hair. So, people like you giving of your time to help is so much appreciated.

Could I impose on you once more? From the marriage license I assumed Pedro's father was Fulgencio, but the baptismal record says Flortina or Flortino would in your experience a name be spelled so different?

Thank you again,

Welcome, Juanita.

If you haven't already seen these, you'll want to add them to your records

Juan Francisco Sanchez Alvarez

Mario, in the films of monte Escobedo there are some people with the lastname Berumes maybe Berumen thata married with Sanchez-Castellanos. I recomend to search in Monte Escobedo because is a key that many people did not do it. Monte Escobedo was a town with many last names of Jerez and Tlaltenango, Berumes,Martinez de Barragan, Sanchez-Castellanos, Escobedo, Marquez de los Olivos,De la Torre, Carrillo, Felix de Arellano, Ulloa, Soto, del Real, Ruiz de Esquivel, Renteria, Gamboa, Bermudes de Castro, Casas, etc.

I am waiting the films of Colotlan that will be the other lost key to complete the search.

If you want to share information with Sanchez-Castellanos, write me by e-mail

Good look!
