Sospecho que sea los mismo Sandoval de Nochistlan. Vengo

Hola compañeros de Nuestros Ranchos, ayer me encontré en un problema al estar revisando el registro de bautismo de algunos hijos del Alcalde de Santa María de los Lagos Francisco Rodríguez y de su mujer Ana Gómez de Portugal.
En mi base de datos tenía que los padres de Ana Gómez de Portugal eran el Capitán Juan Gómez de Portugal y María de Isassi; datos que me proporcionó amablemente el Sr. Mariano Gonález Leal. Revisando el acta de matrimonio de Francisco Rodríguez y Ana de Portugal acontecido en Lagos en 1657 también menciona como padres de Ana a Juan Gómez de Portugal y a María de Isassi.
El problema llega cuando en algunas actas de bautismo de algunos de sus hijos mencionan como padrinos al Capitán Pedro Arias Pardo y María de Isassi, y dice, sus abuelos.
Quiero creer que en las actas de bautismo dice que son sus abuelos, por ser el Capitán Pedro Arias Pardo el padrastro de Ana de Portugal, pero no lo se. Alguien puede resolverme la duda.

I am Cecilia Placencia. My father, Nicolas Placencia, was born in San Francisco de los Sotoles, Jalisco, Mexico in 1943. He and his parents, Andres Placencia and Maria Salvadora Marquez, along with his paternal grandparents, Filomeno Placencia and Soledad Romero, moved to Juarez, Chihuahua in the early 1950’s. The move was prompted by the drying of “el ojo de agua” in San Francisco de los Sotoles, Jalisco. Andres moved his family in 1952 to El Paso, TX, having been sponsored through the “Brazeros” program. Both Andres and Nicolas died in El Paso in 1985 and 1994 respectively.
Filomeno Placencia was said to have been born in Santa Ines, Jalisco, Mexico in about 1894. I believe this “congregation” was part of the municipality of Huejucar, Jalisco. His parents were Roman Placencia and Benigna Galvez, both of whom I believe would have been born about 1865. I am not sure where either of them would have been born. I think Benigna may have been from San Francisco de los Sotoles, Jalisco, as there is a large representation of Galvez’s in the 1930 Mexican Census. In addition, I recall growing up in El Paso with many Galvez’s at family gatherings. Also, in about 1986 or 87 I attended a family reunion in “las fincas” of San Francisco de los Sotoles, Jalisco. It was called “Reunion Familiar Galvez”. The instrumental organizer was a Galvez. I can’t recall his name, but his father was Ricardo Galvez, who lived in EL Paso, TX. I remember being asked to interview people at the gathering in an effort to
create a family tree. I was in high school at the time and don’t know if anything became of those efforts.
I am looking for imformation on Roman and Benigna. I was able to find four of their sons in the 1930’s Mexican census. This confirmed information that was given to me by my great-aunt, daughter of Filomeno and sister of Andres. The sons I was able to locate were Filomeno, Raul, Rafael and Rosalio. They were living in San Francisco de los Sotoles, Jalisco at the time of the 1930 Census. A fith, son Luciano, I believe, died prior to the census, but his widow, Maria Guadalupe Delgado lived in San Francisco de los Sotoles, Jalisco at the time of the 1930 Census.

and the name Agustin RENDON.
On 18 Apr 1710, Bartholome was a witness for the marriage information of his brother-in-law Marcos MASIAS-VALADES, where he is listed as Bartholome RENDON, español, age 40, vecino de esta feligrecia, and that he has known the prospective bride and groom for six years. Con la colaboración de Francisco Javier Delgado Aguilar y Las Familia mas antiguas de Mexico y los Titulos de Castilla en Indias. Los ordene de Europa, no puedia contrar copias en los EEUU
o Mexico. Estos libros estan "Out of print" y son muy preciados, aun cuando los recibo si alguien quiere un lookup de algo digamelo. Debe llegar en una semana.

Hello,
I am seeking information about the family of my great-grandmother, Hipolita
Orendain de Medina. She was born around 1847 in Mexico, probably in the
Guadalajara area. Her parents were Don Castulo de Jesús Orendain and
Francisca Tejada de Orendain. References in U.S. Census records suggest Don
Castulo de Jesús Orendain was born in Spain and Francisca Tejada was born in
Mexico.
Hipolita's granddaughter, Virginia Turnbull, claimed in writing many years
ago that Don Castulo de Jesús Orendain owned a silver mine. Don Castulo de
Jesús Orendain died somewhere around 1850 or so. Francisca Tejada de
Orendain moved to San Francisco, California with her daughters Hipolita and
Virginia Orendain at some point in the 1850's. Francisca Tejada remarried
in San Francisco. Her second husband, Humphrey Marshall, was a lawyer. When
the Civil War broke out in the United States, Humphrey Marshall travelled to
his home state (probably Virginia or Kentucky) to support the Confederacy. He
died and never returned to California.
Writings by Virginia Turnbull claim that Francisca Tejada de Orendain (when
in California) donated heavily to the war effort against Emperor Maximillian
in Mexico. Other information I gleaned indicated that Hipolita Orendain
helped recruit Mexicans in California during the 1860s to fight for their
home country.
On October 13, 1868, Hipolita married Emigdio Medina, a newspaper editor in
Mexico and California. I have not yet been able to ascertain Emigdio's
birthplace. At one time he was a citizen of Paso del Norte. Hipolita and
Emigdio had at least four daughters: Josephine (California, 1869) Virginia
(Mexico, 1871), Czarina (California, 1873) and Mercedes Carolina
(California, 1876 or 1875). Mercedes was my grandmother. Hipolita and
Emigdio eventually separated. Hipolita lived with one of her daughters, and
died in 1922 in Los Angeles, California.
In 2009, I arranged and financed the translation of letters and journals
residing in the California Historical Society in San Francisco, California.

Hipolita in San Francisco, I have determined the following information.
Don Castulo de Jesús Orendain (Hipolita's father) had a brother named
Joaquin Orendain and a cousin named Miguel Orendain. They lived in or near
Guadalajara.
Miguel Orendain probably had daughters named Rafaelita and Gabrielita.
Joaquin Orendain married Lucia Mercado. Lucia Mercado de Orendain died on
September 24, either in 1859 or 1861. The couple had ten children. Four of
the daughters were Lucía, Cipriana, Carmen and Antonia, the youngest. There
may have been a fifth daughter, Josefita. One of their sons probably was
Zenon Orendain, who married a woman by the name of Gabrielita. Another son
may have been Luisito Orendain.
There is mention of another cousin of Hipolita Orendain. His name was
Felicio Orendain. Felicio Orendain had a cousin by the name of D. Felix
Mercado. So Felicio may also have been one of the son's of Joaquin Orendain
and Lucia Mercado de Orendain.
Joaquin Orendain had an uncle by the name of Don Luis. D. Luis had children
named Pachita, Miguel, Castulo de Jesus, and Juan. By 1865, Don Luis and
most of his family probably had died. Pachita survived and lived in the
Port of Magdalena. Joaquin Orendain claimed to have little knowledge about
this branch of his family.
An additional cousin of Hipolita Orendain was Micaela* *de Orendain. Micaela
and family were living in San Pedro (near Guadalajara) in 1865.
If anyone could provide me with more information about my Orendain or Tejada
ancestry, I would greatly appreciate it. And I hope that the information I
have found so far will be useful to some of you, as well.

I found the Death Record for "Marina Rendon", 09 Dec 1775 in Aguascalentes. She was 54 years of age. Her name is recorded as"Anna". The parents are correct: Bartholome Rendon and Maria Macias Valades. The Record indicates that she was the Widow of Christobal de Santos y Busto. If it is the same "Marina/Anna", my information was that she married to Eusebio de Maya y Rebollar. Any ideas are welcome.

I am also researching the Romos from Encarnacion. I link to Santo Toribio through his mother's line (Gtz). Since I also have Romo in my ancestry, as well as have cousins whose father was Romo via both of his parents. Their father ties to my Romos via his maternal line--via his paternal line, I have suspected that they link to Santo Toribio's fathers line due to the Encarnacion connection. Would you be willing to share off line what we have? My cousins were always told that their father's paternal line was from SLP, but I am discovering otherwise. My cousins also resemble Santo Toribio and his father.

I may have some information. I have not yet posted everything on here. My mother's family are the Romo's of Encarnacion and so far have gone back to 1810 & found that I'm still able to go back further but had to stop due to a death in my family. I saw a connection to a Toribio Romo in our family tree. Also, it has been told in our family, that this relative of ours was a Saint with their own shrine located near Encarnacion; I need to go through my files in storage & will post back...This may take awhile so bear with me!
I was wondering if anyone has any info on this couple or family. I believe that my 5th g-grandfather Francisco Sotomayor was their son. His marriage record to Anna Gertrudis Mendez showed his parents as Diego Soto and Maria Lorensa Peres ..... also he used several surnames on various family documents - always paired with Anna Gertrudis Mendez - these were Soto, Sala y Sotomayor, Salas. Coincidence? Maybe - but it deserves some investigation.
Quisiera saber si alguien tiene algunos datos sobre esta pareja. Sospecho que mi 5 bisabuelo Francisco Sotomayor fue su hijo. Angelina, it sounds very interesting. You may want to contact them in advance and tell them that you are coming. This way they can have it paged for you. Some of this appears to be microfilm too. Often you have to request them to make the copies. They will not allow you to do this yourself because it has to be handled very carefully. Please let us know what you find. Many Ranchos members link to these families. I link to the Padillas.

I found Miguel Reveles born Sep 29, 1896, and baptized in Parroquia de la
Inmaculada Concepción, Jerez de Garcia Salinas. His parents were Timoteo
Reveles and Teresa Huizar. He immigrated to the US in 1915 and lived in Los
Angeles.
Does anyone recognize these names?

Estimados señores: Soy vecino del barrio de Triana de Sevilla (España) y
estoy muy interesado en todo cuanto se relaciones con él. Buscando
barrios de Triana en otras geografías me topé con el de Lagos, con la
cofradía de San Felipe de Jesús fundada por mestizos, con datos de este
santo apellidado de las Casas (el famoso Bartolomé de las Casas nació mi
Triana) y, finalmente, con el nombre de Hernando Martel, fundador de
Lagos... Desconocía la existencia de este santo con apellido trianero y
