Hola Claudia ,how are you ? Well I hope . I descend from the Reynoso line of Jalisco. There were 2 brothers Francisco and Diego Reynoso whose parents were Francisco Reynoso (born In Peru ) and Mariana Padilla Davilla (Culiacan and related to all Padillas in the Area) . The 2 brothers married 2 sisters Josefa and Margarita Renteria. Francisco married Josefa (1659)in Guadalajara and Diego married Margarita in(1680) Juchipila ,Zacatecas. So in a nut shell Francisco stayed in Jalisco and Diego in Zacatecas. What are your thoughts ?
Hi Ronnie (primo),
Wow, I've seen you around while doing my reserach and I respect your knowledge, as I'm sure you've been at it much longer than I have.
Thanks for the information on the two brothers, Francisco and Diego. I sure would like to know how you made the connections. I've only gone as far as the mid-eighteenth century; somehow the trail ends with Silverio Reynoso in Moyahua b.@1764.
I found a Miguel Reynoso Renteria, who came to Jalisco from Spain in 1720, and wodered if he might be Silverio's father...
I am interested in learning more about where I can find the links between Silberio and Diego Reynoso (the Diego from 1680 you mention).
Also - a recurring theme abounds and maybe you can enlighten me on it: What is the deal with the Reynoso-Renteria switch? I have heard about a Reynoso changing his name, also I know many Reynosos married Renterias, but the more I seek, the more of those I find. One distant relative is born a Renyono, but some records show him as Renteria (his mother was NOT Renteria!). Any insight into this would be appreciated.
Glad to have found you and Sandra! Hope to share info and details anytime.
Hello Everyone,
I wanted to ask if anyone has a copy of the film for Nuestra Señora de los Dolores, Teocaltiche,
Batch # M602488 film #0639756.
I've been waiting for the film for months.
I'm trying to discover the parents of Francisco Muñoz de Nava and Juana Rosalia Diaz de Zandi, who were married the 5th of Febuary 1758.
Hello all
Has anyone come across a site for the ship passenger lists for Mexico.
There must have been a least two ports where ships coming from Spain
would have arrived, Tampico and Veracruz. Where would they have kept
It is also possible that the Saavedra are the same family from Los Altos! All families tended to travel far! -Daniel

Hello Sofia - I hope I am the Yolanda you are referring to. Yes -- I have seen this site. But --- I did check this site again (my Spanish needs work), and I found some more information on my Granillo ancestors! I found several Granillo ancestors in here.....
It appears that (Alonzo Perez Granillo) was a marinero, and his son Francisco Granillo was a Piloto of one of the ships. Under Alonzo's "difunto" information which documents an outline of his personal possessions perhaps. Here's the text: This was recorded in 1583.
"Autos
Information on Francisco Perez Granillo:
"Autos
It looks like I have found more information to add to the Great Pedigree database from New Mexico. The Granillo's were involved in the 1st and 2nd settlement of New Mexico. There was some confusion (even for me) on how many Alonzo's and Francisco Perez's there were. I now have some more names (Garcia/Ledesma). The Granillo's were in Zacatecas at some point also back in the 1500's.
This is cool new information. I saw this website but I didn't look any further into the various areas within the website. Thanks for flagging me on this information --- I bet others will check it out too! The scans of the original documents that they have posted are great too!
Would these ship manifests contain even more personal information? At least I have Triana and Cadiz records in Spain to check out.
Regards, Yolanda

This is a great site!!!! It is a little confusing if you're not familiar with the format and the language and the terminology takes some getting used to, but all in all it's worth the time and effort to be able to view the digitized images. Thank you for your assistance, once again a possible ranchos cousin has come to my assistance. MUCHISIMAS GRACIAS

Hi Daniel and everyone,
Taking a moment to reply to Daniel concerning my maiden last name, de la O. This is my father's paternal last name and I have located an aunt who is doing research on the de la O Ortiz branch of the family. I'm extremely busy right now. My seven siblings and I are getting together in El Paso, Texas on August 1st to celebrate our Mom's 80th birthday. I was appointed the job of writing Mom's story and my husband is putting together a genealogical tree. We also collected as many pictures as possible to share with the family. As you can imagine this has become quite an undertaking. This project has taken over our lives for the past few months. Hopefully when we return from Texas in August, we'll to participate more fully in the information exchange for Nuestros Ranchos. We traveled to Mexico in April to meet aunts and uncles and they gave us so much valuable information that I definitely recommend that anyone doing genealogical research should travel
Raquel, where in Zacatecas is your de la O family from?

recommend that anyone doing genealogical research should travel to their
"motherland" and try to meet as many people as possible. My husband
and I have been bitten by the genealogical bug. Finding new people just pushes
us to find more. Next year, God willing, we'll be traveling to Zacatecas.
In the meantime we will continue to send for films from LDS and I will post the
film number and what it covers in case anyone is interested. We look forward
to becoming more active in the near future.

In the book: "Historia de Teocaltiche Pueblo de La Region Caxcana Nueva
Galicia, Zona de Los Altos de Jalisco" by Nicolas de Anda Sanchez. there is
a listing of parents who confirmed their children in 1634 and the names of
the children.
I found: Jose de La Cruz y Maria Gabay o Navarro and their children
confirmed were: Tomasa, Josepha and Martin.
I tried to find more information about this couple, hoping to find who their
parents and grandparents were, in FamilySearch.org.but the only thing I
found was the date of christening for Jose de La Cruz, 14 Mar, 1689.
Nuestra Señora de Los Dolores, Teocaltiche, Jalisco. His parents were:
Francisco Tomas and Maria de La Cruz.
I hope somebody else will have better luck researching this couple. If we
can find either Maria's or Francisca's birth certificate we will have found
Petronila's de Moctezuma's parents.

Please notice that the Jose de La Cruz in the second paragraph can not be
the same Jose de La Cruz given in the first paragraph, the dates don't
match, unless the year is a typographical error.

Maria de Gabay:
PD: Jaime eres bilingue?
John Gonzalez.
Thanks for checking John. However, I don't think this is the same Maria de
Gabay because the daughter that I descend from, Petrona de Siordia, was
married on 14 Feb 1616. That would make Petrona's year of birth around
1592. If Maria was about 25 years old at the time of Petrona's birth, then
she would've been born around 1567. In 1634 she woul've been in her 60's,
so that makes her a bit old to be the mother named in the confirmation
records. She may very likely be a granddaughter of the Maria de Gabay
married to Pedro Fernandez de Vaulus. Pedro and Maria's children were
baptized in Aguascalientes.

Hi,
Petrolina in the LDS records has her birth around 1550. Is this incorrect. I descend from Francisca her daughter.

Hi Sofia:
Francisca was born in 1577, so her mother, Petronila, would have been 27
years old if she was born in 1550, which sounds like a reasonable age.

Hi Maria:
What you say makes a lot of sense. The problem is that the confirmation
record for 1634 has no data at all for the parents. It would have been nice
if they had included at least their age. I guess we can't have everything
handed to us, genealogy wouldn't be any fun.

John, Maria, Jaime, Daniel and other genealogists interested in Petronila de Moctezuma:
A couple of years ago I came across this María Gabai as part of my research on the founding families of Aguascalientes. I was intrigued by the name, thinking that she was directly related to María Gabai de Moctezuma. She is not. She is a descendant of Christobal Navarro, Maria's brother. Here is what I found.
Maria Gabai was an illegitimate child of Christobal Navarro, one of three known children of Martin Navarro and Petronila de Moctezuma (Francisca, Maria and Christobal). Not much is known about Christobal Navarro, but his name pops-up every now-and-then in church records. I probably would have missed Maria Gabai altogether had it not been for the marriage of one of her descendants to Elvira de Ulloa in 1689. Joseph de Torres married Elvira de Ulloa on 12 Apr 1689 at the church of Ntra. Sra. de los Dolores (source: LDS Film 0639756 Marriages 1753-1790 Teocaltiche, Jal. Mexico). A cattle driver from Nochistlan, Joseph was the great-grandson of Christobal Navarro, and his "pretensa" Elvira de Ulloa was the great-granddaughter of Francisca Gabai. In other words, Joseph de Torres was a third cousin of Elvira de Ulloa (Civil: VII, Canon: 4). This marriage required a dispensation from the Archbishop of Guadalajara. The information was extracted from an LDS microfilm by Maria de la Luz Montejano-Hilton and published in her very useful book "Sagrada Mitra de Guadalajara" (No. 2518)
Teocaltiche, Jal. 10 fojas.
According to the information in Nicolas de Anda-Sanchez's book, the names of Joseph de La Cruz and Maria Gabai (or Navarro) are among those of the parents who confirmed their children in 1634. Confirmed were Tomasa, Josepha y Martin. This Josepha is the one that later married Juan de Torres, father of Joseph de Torres.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Bill Figueroa

Bill,
Thank you very much for sharing this information on Maria de Gabai. It's
difficult to keep the names straight when they repeat so often. The only
way I can do it is by annotating my sources after each entry, as you have
done.

Jaime,

If you ever want to know who made a posting, simply click on their username or "handle" at the bottom of their posting from the website when you are logged in. That will take you to their profile where you can see their real name as well as their areas and surnames of research. You can also use the contact form to send them a personal email message.
Arturo, that's great! I had never noticed you could do that and often wonder where the person e-mailing lives.. makes it more personal when we know a little history abt Nuestros Members.

Hello everyone!!!
My grandfather's name is Mateo Quesada.? His parents were Emigdio Quezada and Micaela Ibarra.
Mateo Quesada was christened on 26 Sep 1881 @ Nuestra Senora de los Dolores, Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico.
Hola Marisela,
The Information you have written concerning someone buying a name is amazing. Merits some further research.
One of my ancestors is Severa Ybarra Rueda, who married Juan Jose Sosa Medina in 1830 or 1835. Although her husband was born in Durango, Mexico, I have not been able to find where she was born. During the great "cotton bonanza" of the Comarca Lagunera from approximately 1830 to 1940 several hundred families traveled from Zacatecas, Jalisco, S.L.Potosi, and Puebla as migrant workers. The Comarca Lagunera is Coahuila and Durango. My mother (80 years young) has told me that many of her uncles came from Zacatecas during this time and stayed in the Comarca Lagunera. I have traced her family to Zacatecas to the mid-1700's.
Try the last name Ybarra in Family Search. I'll keep an eye out for your Ibarra or Ybarra info as I do further research.

I have no other information.? I think Mateo Quesada had brothers but there was a big fallout.
I was told that one of my ancestors came from Germany and "bought" the Quezada name from a family in Aguascalientes so he could stay in Mexico.? So I'm really stuck as to my geneology.? Does anyone know anything that might be able to help me or stear me in the right direction??? Any information would be of great help.

Hi Emily,
I think it says "La Fabrica Zacatecana" (The Zacatecan Factory). I just checked on a map online and there are two places near Guadalupe (5.6 km, 3-4 miles), one called "La Fábrica" and the other one "La Zacatecana" both with the same coordinates (latitude. 22.7333333°, longitude. -102.4833333°), so it may be just one town "La Fábrica Zacatecana", or sister towns.
In this map it only apperars as "La Zacatecana":

But in Google maps it only says "La Fábrica"
Hope this helps,
VN
Victoria,
Thank you. Arturo also read it as Fabrica, and on the old MSN Maps I found, near Ciudad Zacatecas, a town called La Fabrica and one called Zacatecana near each other, but not one called Fabrica Zacatecana. I think later it may have been split into two towns, from a former company town. I wonder what they made there.

Hi Emily,
I found that in 1848 Antonio García Salinas founded the textile factory (fábrica de hilados y tejidos) "La Zacatecana” in Guadalupe, Zacatecas.
Also about 3 years ago they tried to move "rock by rock" the facade of the abandoned factory to a brand new housing complex in Zacatecas, but the National Institute of Antropology and History (INAH) prevented them from doing this.

Victoriano, (sorry I addressed you as Victoria last time),
Thank you so much for this information. My father Guadalupe Olague was born in Jerez de Garcia Salinas, and his sister was born in Guadalupe. I have never found any birth records for them, I guess they were destroyed during the Revolution.
The only way I was able to find anything about my father's ancestors was through his father's birth and marriage records in the Tepetongo church. They must have moved from Salitrillo where they lived for centuries to Guadalupe and Jerez right before my father and his sister were born in 1903 and 1899 respectively. I can't find anything about his mother's side of the family. In 1913 what remained of all of my father's immediate paternal family relocated to the US and they never returned to Mexico, not even to visit. My grandfather and his brother-in-law were soldiers that were scheduled to be executed by a firing squad, but they escaped.
So Fabrica Zacatecana was a textile factory; how interesting. I wonder if any of my ancestors worked there.
Thanks again for the links.

Victoriano,
I found something interesting in the Historia de Guadalupe link below.
I told you that I have never found any records for my father's mother. She was Gorgonia Garcia, and her parents were Ignacio Garcia and Maria Guadalupe Rodriguez. I see that those two surnames Garcia and Rodriguez were prominent in Guadalupe, that Jose Maria Rodriguez was a patriot who was "fusilado" as they threatened to do to my grandfather Francisco Olague and his brother-in-law Jose Garcia Davila, that in fact the town was named Villa de Guadalupe de Rodriguez, and that around the same time Antonio Garcia Salinas established his textile business there. I wonder if Gorgonia was related to them. Of course, Garcia and Rodriguez are so common as surnames. Just a thought.

Hi Emilie,
Sorry I called you Emily before ;)
Probalby you have already tried this but... another way to find about your ancestors is going over the birth, marriage or death record books several years before and after your ancestors were born, married, etc. Sometimes you won't find them, but you will find a sibling or cousin. I found a brother of my grandfather nobody in the family knew of, probably because he died as an infant. So even if you think your father only had a sister, he might have had other siblings that died young and their birth, baptism or death records may have interesting information on your family. Also sometimes people would register their children until they were a little older (1-5 years).
Warmest regards,
VN
That is so true. I thought my father had one brother and one sister who died as an infant, BUT...2 months ago I discovered that he had had 3 other brothers who had died very young.
Jose Carlos de Leon
Emily,
I believe it is feligres or feligresia which would mean parish or parishoner.......we'll see what responses you get from the brains in the group.

I agree with Alicia Carrillo. The word is most likely 'feligresia'. The only other words which would "fit" in that slot are: "curato" or "jurisdiccion". The feminine article rules out the first one. Your word in question definitely begins with the letter 'F'.

I always have trouble figuring out the relationship when there is a
marriage "consanguinidad"
how do you figure out the "grados de consanguinidad"
how do you interpret "Civil VI, Canon 3" por instance
also: in English we have the terms "second cousin once removed" in Spanish
we refer in popular terms as relationship like "sobrino o tio"
Can some one help me to understand all of these, I been doing genealogy for
a long time and here is where I get stuck
HELP
Sylvia,
The following charts may help:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Relatives_Chart.svg
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Canon_law_relationship_chart.svg
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/04264a.htm
http://www.heirsearch.com/table.htm
They may also just confuse the issue futher. ;-)
Good Luck,
Angie Godina
Thank you Angie Godina for the information provided to understand the Civil
and Canon Laws.
You right a little bit more confusing but it gave me more understanding on
how the relationships are calculated.

John,
I understand that children's surnames often do not match the patrilineal usage we employ today. However, often (but not always) those 'inconsistencies' have a 'logical' explanation. In the example of Gertrudis, Nava was her mother's surname. Other siblings took the Munoz from the mother side, while others the Gonzalez from the Paternal Grandfather in all sorts of combinations (with or without de Hermosillo). However, I wonder whether anyone knows of an Extracted Record that lists Ramirez de Hermosillo for members of that family. All the ones I've seen listed are Submitted Records. I wonder if all started with a transcription error (Ramirez instead of Gonzalez) with that error becoming perpetuated over time. By contrast, I do find Gonzalez Hermosillo as a surname asociated to Diego Alonso de Hermosillo's children. Just wondering.
Thanks John
Last night I found the following on Alonso marriage to Luisa:
Dio. Alonso de Hermosillo y Luysa de Nava
23 Feb 1645 Nuestra Senora de los Dolores, Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico
M60286 (marriages 1637-1669) 0639754.
Last names were very inconsistent, to say the least. Did you notice that:
Catarina and Juan were "Gonzalez de Hermosillo", but their sister was
Gertrudis "de Nava" ? I have come across this before, where siblings from
the same family will have different last names.
Aristocracy and wealth at work!
Thank you for the info.

Hola Primos, what is the relationship of Joseph Macias Valdez to Nicolas Macias Valadez and Leonor Retamosa
Ronnie

The i’m Talkaton. Can 30-days of conversation change the world?
Ronnie,
Nicolás Macías Valadez and Leonor de Retamosa lived about 75 years earlier
than Joseph Macías Valadez and Catalina de la Vega. I suppose Joseph was
their descendant, but have no information to prove it. He may have been a
grandson or great-grandson, if we consider generations to be about 25 years
apart.

Yes, it is good to hear your position on this, Joseph. I have been in other
forums for other groups and, one of my own postings I had no idea was
controversial, drew a very harsh attack from someone else in the group,
Oh, well said, Corrine. Well said.
Joseph, keep up the good and very important work that you do. You are

Joseph Puentes: A simple "thank you" does not seem sufficient to you for orchestrating this research site, and maintaining its integrity. Having the pleasure of meeting you, I can say that you are such a magnificent person.
Through your creation of Nuestros Ranchos, many of us have found lost cousins, and developed some wonderful friendships.
You are an astonishing humanitarian.

To The Ranchos Group--
It is nice when we can share our talents.
One of the people who is in the Ranchos group, spoke
to me recently about trying to get information on her
relative born in Portesuelo, Jalisco. My husband and
I drove there this morning and were able to get a
modern copy of a birth certificate (70 pesos) that she
need for the years between 1880-1882. It was a simple
process and took 10 minutes or less. All I did was
give the approximate years and the names of the child
and parents. When I see my Rancho´s friend, I am sure
she is going to be so happy.
I wish the same for the rest of you, as you do your
research and reach out to others.
Sincerely,

Patricia!
I am so excited!! You did what my mother and grandmother couldn't do,
and that was to find the birth record of my great-grandmother, Guadalupe
Vaca Velasquez from Portezuelo, Jalisco. That is totally incredible and
I can't wait to get home from visiting my Son Dave in Northern
California and come and find you (around August 3 to 7). THANK YOU,
THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

I would like to add a comment and just say "Thank You Joseph" for your website. I have been a genealogist for the past 17 years and have met so many people via the internet who have become distant cousins, just as in this group. In fact I did meet a close cousin who I had gone to high school with from this group.
As a hispanic and a genealogist I think we should all be proud of the work we are doing. It gives us a sense of what/who we are, whether we are old timers at research or newbies...I for one am always learning something new....and I enjoy sharing my new-found knowledge with others. I have many family members who are not interested in my work, and I'm fine with that...but I know that what I do, I am leaving a legacy for future generations. And maybe one day they will say, "Thank you for the hard work"
Again, Thank you Joseph

Hello Everyone,
My investigation has lead me to Lorenza Ruiz de Esparza and her father Lope Ruiz de Esparza with an anknown mother. Searching here in Nuestros Ranchos I found that her mother was Francisca Gabai Navarro de Moctezuma and Francisca's mother's name was Petronila Navarro and her father was Martin Navarro. Supposibly there is a Cortez/ Moctezuma connection threw Petronila.
Hola Sofia! I too descend from this line along with abt 85% of this group as well descend from Lope, Lord of Esparza the fact is there is little evidence to which line Petronila comes from Cortes or Valderrama? We're not sure due to the lack of evidence in the early years of the Spanish colonization of Nueva Espana. I can somewhat determine due to the time and age of people she should descend from Hernando Cortes but this group and spanish genealogists as well are divided into who believe we descend from Cortes or Valderrama; it is also hard to determine since there are abt 5 Leonors who are either half sisters, cousins and such. Moctezuma had Isabel and Leonor, Isabel married Cortes and Leonor married Valderrama from here it's where thing gets complicated. Although we do know Petronila de Moctezuma should have at least be a great grandchild of the aztec emperor. -Daniel MdC

Hello all, I would like to know if anyone has any tips about how to continue
when you're stuck. My specific situation is that I was able to find records
back to 1856 for one of my family lines, others lines have ended sooner. On
Ancestry.com has an extensive list of immigration records from the late 1800's and the early 1900's. I found my grandparents in these records from 1912. It's not free; you have to buy a subscription but to a genealogist, it's worth it.

my fathers side I'm going to have to actually go to Jalisco and see if I can
find some records. The names I'm looking for there are for a Jose Quintero
and Carlota Del Rio parents of Salvador and Juan Quintero. I guess my real
question is how can you trace a family member that may have immigrated to
Mexico? I'm starting to wonder if I should stop looking at marriage,
baptismal and birth records and start looking at immigration records. And
does anyone know where I can go for Mexican immigration records?
Thanks!

Hola America, Archivos Espanoles en Red can help you if your ancestor emmigrated to Mexico between 1519-ca. 1821. So a good chunck of time. Are you related to the famous MArtinez del Rio familiy? Some their house members are in Jalisco? According to my grandfather our families never got along. It's funny in my opinion. What great lengths people will go for a acre of land. Well I do have some advice. Just keep gooing on to other lines. Hopefully their in Jalisco at least all it will be easier in my opinion. The Spanish families are so well documented until about 1730. Post 1730 is when you must order microfilm in order to connect to the pre 1730 genealogy.
Where exactlyis your family from in Jalisco? If its los altos, remember to check more than one place. Pick Wisely, it can cost a bit. Remember our ancestors moved to place to place. -Daniel

Daniel, thanks for the advice. The Quintero and Del Rio families were from
Tuxpan, Jalisco. I only know vague stories about the families, they had a
mill their but I'm not sure if it was a sugar mill or what kind :S
I know Juan Quintero was in the Mexican Navy. The ship was sunk off the
coast of Mexico by the Germans (I think) and he never came back. We know
there were survivors but I don't know if those kinds of records are also
available some where.
Thanks again!

I was up late last night searching the Family Search Labs pilot website,
too! It's great! Not only in the 1930 census have I found ancestors, but
in typing in names to do a search on, I found information I have been
I have also been looking at records from Aguascalientes using the new
FamilySearch Labs pilot website, and have a few comments to make. The "look
and feel" of the search engine is great. A huge leap ahead from the old
FamilySearch engine. However, I get a large number of duplicate records,
plus a high number of misspellings and blunt errors in the transcription.
Many are surnames, which is critical, plus the names of towns and ranchos
and a few other transcription errors also abound. I also get lots of
records from Campeche mixed with records from Aguascalientes. All errors are
apparently in the transcription of old manuscripts. I need to find out how
to report these errors. But the search engine is superb. Congratulations
to the software team that put it together !!!

What baptism, marriage and death records have you found? From what States in US, or any in Mexico? I did find several death records from the state of Texas in that Pilot site that I had been looking for for years, and when I would write, people would tell me they didn't exist. Now I have the info on their parents and birthplaces in Mexico. Because I could print out a copy of the original document, I could share them with my relatives that don't have computers. I haven't found any marriage or birth records, so I am wondering which states' records are available. I have a cousin in Santa Maria, Armando Marquez.
Thanks,

in typing in names to do a search on, I found information I have been
looking for without previous luck. It brought up baptism records, marriage
records, death records, Social Security death index, etc. even in the USA,
when I typed in a particular name. It even has some of the actual documents
themselves that you can see and print out. If you click on Save, it will
automatically download it to your computer and, presto, there it is ready to
be fixed up or you can just print it out. One thing I discovered, is that
when you resize them for emailing, so they aren't such big files, they get
real blurry. So, I don't resize them. I leave them huge and they are
actually better for reading even if you have to move the image around and
can't see the whole thing at once.

The Family Search Labs site address is: <
http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch>. A box comes up that you
can type in the person's name you are searching. It gives you choices as to
how exact you want the surname to be matched up. I found that if I click on
"Exact, close, and partial," I get the most number of records with the exact
same spelling of the surname. If I just click "Exact or close," I get much
less, maybe only a few. I don't know how that happens, but it did for me.
The baptism records I found were for Jalisco: San Diego parish in
Huejuquilla El Alto, Santa Maria de los Lagos parish in Lagos de Moreno and
Jesus parish in Guadalajara. Marriage records were for Guadalajara. But,
in my searches, a lot of other areas would come up for that surname,
Argentina, Texas, Chihuahua, well, I can't remember all of the places, but
some of the records I found, I had already found through research or on
Ancestry.com. The dates and names, all the info matches up the same as what
I've already found. They'll say whether or not a record also has an
original image available, but when I clicked on one, it told me it was not
available yet.
Despite the kinks, it is well worth the time to just check it out. I had no
idea where to go with my research in my Cabral family line, but when I found
the baptism records on this site for Huejuquilla El Alto, I was very
grateful to now have a direction to head. I knew my great-grandfather was
born in Lagos de Moreno, but I had no date to go by to order a film for the
parish there. Now I do, because they had his baptism record on the site. I
think they are doing a great job and.....it's free!

Oh, I checked the site real quick and right when you come on to the site,
you can see listed all the areas they have records for, from all over the
world, census, military, vital records, etc.
