I just wanted to thank everyone, who responded to my question about Laredo. The reason, that I asked the question, is that I am going to Laredo in about 2 weeks, for business. And I wanted to also, do some research, while I am there. And possibly in some of the other cities, that I will be passing through.

thanks again,
Jonathan

Esther,

Photoshop (used primarily by graphics arts professional and other heavy
graphics users) is expensive and has a steep learning curve. But, don't
fret, we should be able to recommend some alternative that best fits your
apparently simple needs.

So, to start, please describe in some detail what kind of files do you wish
to convert to PDF.
Do your needs relate to genealogical files? If so, what Genealogy program,
if any, are you using?

Collote/Collota

In Spanish times what were these caste system classifictions mean? I have some ancestors as Collotes. -Daniel Mendez del Camino

Daniel,

In very old documents, the term "coyote" (also spelled "collote") was used
to describe the offspring of "indio" with "mestiza" (three-fourths indian,
one fourth spaniard). The following terminology for various race mixtures
is found in "México Mestizo" by Agustín F. Basabe Benítez [Fondo de Cultura
Económica, México 1992]:

Español e India = Mestizo
Español y Negra = Mulato
Español y Mestiza = Castizo
Español y Castiza = Español
Español y Mulata = Morisco
Español y Morisca = Alvino
Español y Alvina = ?
Indio y Negra = Lobo? (not sure about this one)
Indio y Mestiza = Coyote
Lobo y Negra = Chino
Chino e India = ?

The Lopez de Elisalde Family

If anyone is interested in following Don Juan Lopes de Elisalde's line in the 1500's in Tolosa these are the films you'll be interested in. I hope to follow his line someday. I really want to look for Don Juan's parents. I only included the films that would extend his genelogy.

For anyone doing Basque research (Guipuzcoa, Viscaya, and Alava) you can find a lot of their parish records online at http://www.irargi.org . Once you get to the home page click on Registros Sacramentales...which is located on the right side of the screen. The dioceses are named after the capitol of each province (San Sebastian, Bilbao, and Vitoria). They hope to have all parish registers extracted in the near future. This is a wonderful way of getting around the microfilm restrictions for this part of Spain. I haven't looked to see if Tolosa has had it's records extracted yet, but if they aren't now they will be soon.

You can read more about Basque resources at: http://hispanicgenealogy.blogspot.com/2007/04/basque-genealogy-websites…

It looks like most Rubios connect back to these guys in la Nueva Galicia. I have several rubios about 5 times. My line ends at Don Diego Rubio de Monrroy of Guadalajara. I only have the marriage date of the IGI.

Additional Batch Numbers Posted

Joseph Puentes and Members,

Please note that I have added the following Film #'s and IGI Batch Numbers in the Films Section:

Thank you so much for taking the time to enter those batch numbers. The films database grows in its usefulness every time a member like yourself adds more information.

FYI, Ayo el Chico is today the Municipio de Ayotlan. So the films and batches that you mention I believe are listed under that municipality already, but can you check just to make sure?

Comentario

Hello! Efrain, in the case of Ayotlán or Ayo El Chico, Jal. are the grandparents inscribed? If so, please review for me. I am sending a list of items for check, most interested in grandparents names, if it is not inscribed dont´t work. In the most of Ayotlan grandpas are not named, it has been frustrating. Nice to greet you and thank you very much.

Reynoso

Ronnie,

I found your message interesting. I have been searching for my Reynoso's for many years. My grandfather, Francisco Reynoso o Renteria used to say that the family records could be found in Jalisco. He never talked much about the family in Mexico and when he did he liked to mix truth with untruth. One never knew what could be believed. I have had to find original source records and prove what I believed to be correct. More fun!

Ronnie, I forgot to mention that the Reynoso o Renteria and the Estrada's are a military family. My grandfather used to speak of an uncle that was a general, same with the Estrada's.

I really have not had much to work with, but you have shed a little more light on the matter. Thank you. Now let me run this by you. Hola Kelly(Irene),I believe so as far as the enter changing of The Names Of Renteria and Reynoso. I've seen in past centuries people are given their mothers maiden name and some times from their grandparents on the maternal side. I also come from Martin Navarro and Petronila de Moctezuma but from both her daughters .Later I'll give you one of many lines due to the fact that a lot of my ancestors are inter-related (a lot) and come from Petonila and Martin Navarro.

Census Indexing Project in Cooperation...

Esther asked how much room the software takes...

FamilySearch Indexing takes up about 20-30 MBs.

There have been a lot of questions about indexing, and I doubt that all can be addressed in the mailing list. If you want to learn more you can visit http://www.familysearchindexing.org and click the "Help" tab at the top of the screen. These tutorials will explain a lot about the program in general. Specific instructions will be made available when your pilot project begins. I would recommend that everyone go through lessons 1, 3 & 4 to get a basic understanding of how the program works.

Yes I'd encourage everyone to get involved in the indexing project
currently available at http://www.familysearchindexing.org

I have a request from some of the more fluent members of the group (not
me). Can someone volunteer to take Arturo's initial message and
translate it into Spanish so that everyone in the group will have a
clear understanding of what we're encouraging everyone to do?

joseph

ps: In the past we've gotten into various discussion and some have led
to topics delving into spiritual matters. With regards to whether or not
we get communication from our relatives I wanted to share a brief
account of what happened yesterday. I went in and registered and jumped
into a page for the 1930 Aguascalientes Census and I know about looking
at Census records and rarely do I find records with my surname in them.
Now I know "Puentes" is not rare but it really isn't very common and I
was kind of shocked when toward the bottom of the only page I have
opened and attempted on this Census project there was a Macario Puentes
(I really couldn't make out his first name but it looked like Macario).
I don't recognize this name and for all I know he is not related but I
though it was very interesting AND encouraging. I also took notice that
I needed to pay attention because you never know what doors might open
for your own personal genealogy if you work hard to help others with
their genealogy. I want to be part of a Nuestros Ranchos team that is
one day remembered many generations from now as playing an important
part in helping many advance their genealogical research.

This is great for those of us that commute to work, or travel (fly, etc) because we can work while offline, then when we connect our computers back up to the internet we can submit the work we've done. All this is explained in the tutorials.

Census Indexing Project in Cooperation with the Family History Library

Dear Nuestros Ranchos Members:

This afternoon, Joseph, Mickey and I had a conference call with Ruth Schirmacher and Lynn Turner of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City where they proposed that Nuestros Ranchos serve as the pilot group to use Family Search's new digital online indexing technology to index Latin American records.

Arturo, hi this is Pilar Felix I am taking a taking part in the indexing and
is a great opportunity to do it. I also was ask to help to do a little for
Coahuila and Colima. I was wondering if there is other census beside 1930.
I am a member for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I am a
family history consultant and I am trying for some of our members to also
help with the indexing. I live in Mesa, Arizona and I am wondering if there
is someone from the group that lives close by? We have a great Family
History Center and is open Mon-Sat. there are lots of films from Zacatecas,
Jalisco and I am ordering some from Aguascalientes. We have all the films
from the 1930 census of Mexico. There are wonderful full time and part time
missionaries helping anyone with there geneology. Let me know how I can
help. I have 4 kids (8 yrs, 7 yrs, 3 yrs and 2) but I can find time here and
there to do my geneology.

Pilar:

Thank you for your words of encouragement to the rest of us regarding getting involved in the indexing. I agree with you that we should not limit our contribution to just Aguascalientes. Volunteers' work is valuable to someone somewhere and getting the entire 1930 Mexico Census indexed will certainly be a great accomplishment and asset for the general Mexico genealogy community.

As far as finding other members that are near you, you can click on the search button on the upper right of the screen, then click on the "User" tab and then on "Advanced". You will then be able to choose to search for users in Arizona.

http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/search/user/advanced

I know that Northern California members meet every so often in person. It would be great to get similar regional groups throughout the country.

Sorry, I did not explain my self on my previous note.
I live in Ukiah, California a rural community, the LDS Family Center here
only opens on T, W & TH from 10 to 1 and W from 6-8, making it very hard to
really access the library.
To add to this dilemma I travel a lot with my work so even if I order a
film sometimes I can not find the time to be in town and view the film
before it has to be returned to Salt Lake.

Yes this is a great privilege to have the opportunity to be involved in
a project this important. We are on the cutting edge of getting
information on our area of research put online and accessible to the
public (eventually). Not only can we do something to advance our own
research but we'll be able to hold our heads high knowing that future
generations will have access to this information online in part thanks
to our efforts. Join Arturo, Mickey and I as we join in an effort to
make this project successful. There is a little time before we actually
get started but the time is NOW for you to take Arturo's advice and go
to: http://www.familysearchindexing.org and sign up as a volunteer,
download the software and try out the indexing project. Today I took
that first step and did my first page of the 1930 Aguascalientes Census.
I wish I had listened sooner and was doing pages bit by bit as I had the
time. But at least I've started and I'd like to encourage you to do the
same.

I was able to edit a recording of our conversation this afternoon. Have
a listen when you have time if you want to hear what we discussed:

I already signed in as a "volunteer" do I have to be more specific to be a
part of this great project and opportunity to contribute to our genealogy
research for our region?
Thanks for the opportunity I am happy to participate.
I just to be able to access the films to give any information on what films
contain census, but I can input data I already did for the 1930 census,
that it turn out to be for Ensenada ,Baja California Norte and not for
Aguascalientes.
It is fun, I travel a lot with my work and spend many nights in hotels, do
not like TV so this is a good time that I can participate in this existing
project.

Sylvia:

Our project will likely not get started until the new year. If you are already signed up as a volunteer for the general indexing projects and have downloaded the software it will be fairly simple to give you access to our project when it gets started.

As I mentioned to Esperanza, you can do one image per sitting (justa few minutes) or spend a day doing this... you can give whatever time you have. With some basic training I think you can recruit family members to help as well.

How much room does the software takeon your pc?

Subject: [Nuestros Ranchos] Census Indexing Project in Cooperation with the Family History Library

Dear Nuestros Ranchos Members:

This afternoon, Joseph, Mickey and I had a conference call with Ruth Schumaker and Lynn Turner of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City where they proposed that Nuestros Ranchos serve as the pilot group to use Family Search's new digital online indexing technology to index Latin American records.

As most of you are probably aware, Family Search has already taken on indexing the entirety of the surviving 1930 Mexico Census. If you have not yet done so, I suggest you go to:

http://www.familysearchindexing.org

and sign up as a volunteer, download the software and try out the indexing software. You can choose to specifically work on the Aguascalientes portion of the 1930 Mexico census (which is now being indexed) or any other one of the indexing projects currently being worked on.

The proposal made to Nuestros Ranchos is for the indexing of earlier censuses from our region (Jalisco, Zacatecas and Aguascalientes). What this would require would be getting a core of people from the group who are experienced in extracting Mexican records to serve as arbitrators and do quality control and to recruit a larger group of volunteers from within the group and from outside of it who would be willing to do the indexing.

The first step is to identify the censuses that we would want to index. The only prerequisite is that the census be filmed in the Family History Library's collection. I personally believe that colonial era censuses would be the most useful, so we would like to identify any and all films that include censuses from our three states, especially those from before 1820. Please let us know of any films from your towns that you know of, especially if they are older censuses. Many are listed in the catalog with the subject as "Census", "Padron" or "Padrones" but many others are simply listed under parroquial records or are included in a film with other records (baptisms, marriages, etc).

Also, if you have ever used a colonial era census film or would like to participate as an arbitrator to do quality control, please let us know.

I think this is a great opportunity for each of us to contribute to genealogy research from our region. The indexes will be made available for searching to the general public online as will the images of the census films. By agreeing to provide volunteers for this project, we get the digitization and online availabilty of these census films prioritized. I personally am very excited about the project and flattered that the Family History Library chose Nuestros Ranchos to be the pilot group. I hope you can all share in this excitement.

Census Indexing Project in Cooperation with the Family...

Thanks Joseph for recording the conversation, I am such an auditory learner.
I have some questions about being involved as an indexer (not an
arbitrator..lol).

Questions:
1) Where would we get the census and notary records that are being asked for

Comentarios

Comentario

Esperanza:

Thank you so much for your interest in the project. I think that if you go to familysearchindexing.org and download the software and try doing a page or two of the Aguascalientes census you will get a pretty good idea of what we will be doing, except that we will be doing it with colonial era censuses for the most part.

Here are the answers to your questions.

1) Where would we get the census and notary records that are being asked for us to index?
>> The new indexing software developed by the Family Hostory Center which is now being used on familysearchindexing.org uses digital scans of films that are downloaded one image at a time via the internet by the software. The software then links the indexed data to the corresponding image so someone can click on a name and see the original filmed image online!

a) Would these records be provided to us?
>> Yes, once we finalize the films that will be involved in our project, they will be prioritized for digitalization so that the images can be downloaded online by the indexers and arbitrators.

2) There is a present sentiment of not duplicating existing church records of marriages or baptisms, however some of these records do no exist for certain time frames.
a) Personally, I would be interested in helping with this data, even if
augmented through census data. More specifically, records missing for
Tlaltenango, Zacatecas. Would these records/films be made available for us to help with the indexing?
>> Lynn and Ruth feel that since there are already efforts to link existing IGI and VRI indexes to their corresponding film images, that they would have a hard time getting resources to have already indexed films re-indexed using the new system. That being said, there are obviously baptism and marriage records that are not indexed but they do not think they would be able to get prioritized resources for doing such records at this time. That being said, I think if we are successful, they will have a good story to tell as far as getting those other records done.

3) There are 26 films, will each of us be responsible for one, or will
there will be several of us working on them to double check against our data input?
>> The way it works, an indexer "checks out" and image. Each image is only checked out to two people (since all data is entered twice for quality control) and if someone does not finish their image within a couple of weeks, it is returned to be checked out by someone else. Thus a given film can be indexed by hundreds of people at the same time. That is the wonder of the system! We just have to recruit hundreds of people to help and each person doing just a few images will get the film completed in no time.

PS, Which unindexed Tlaltenango marriage/baptism records are you interested in?

Hi everyone!

I know I have not been in touch lately but I am in the middle of
moving to Houston, TX!!!! I never thought I would leave my
beautiful and wonderful San Antonio but family matters are requiring
that we move to Houston. My 88 year old mom was placed in a nursing
home there and since June I have been tearing up I-10 between San
Antonio & Houston!!! I am tired of all this driving so we decided to
move to Houston and be nearer to all my family including my only
brother and my oldest daughter Marcella, my great son-in-law and two
wonderful grandaughters ages 17 and 12.......I will have a chance to
be a "real grandma" to them and to my Swiss grandchildren when my
other daughter Kim and her husband and my two little angels Leon age
7 and Emily age 18 months visit each year.......

I spoke to Lynn Turner recently and reminded him that we met last
year when I put together the little trip to Salt Lake City for the
conference........I also told him I probably would not be able to
make it this year due to the upcoming move to Houston. He does a
wonderful presentation so try to attend his if possible. Prof.
George Ryskamp's presentation is priceless.......it is a MUST for
anyone attending!!!

I want to encourage anyone who is able to attend this conference to
REALLY GIVE IT A TRY!!! You will really enjoy the presentations and
you have a chance to meet a lot of great researchers and wonderful
people........as well as having access to ALL THE FILM at the
FHC!!! That in itself is worth the trip!!!

Jonathan.......perhaps you can give them a number where they can
contact you and arrange to meet each other like we did last
year.....just a thought!

I really enjoyed meeting personally with Kitty and Rich Cortez,
Arturo Ramos, Lydia Corona and her friend Becky, Raul Felix as well
as others I had met before.....George and Peggy Ryskamp, Ruth
Schirmacher and, of course, Jonathan Walker!!! There are a lot of
others I could mention but half of my genealogy stuff is already at
our other house in Houston and "Senior Moments" prevent me from
recalling names at the present time......too much packing to finish
up with right now! :-) Of course.....my good friend Mickey
Garcia was with me for the first part of the week but had to return
home the Friday before the Conference and missed it......She is a
wealth of information and very helpful.......I would be lost without
her!!! Maybe next year she and I can attend.

My new e-mail for genealogy is: josiett39@gmail.com and I will
update my new Houston address on the Nuestros Ranchos website
soon......I have missed doing my genealogy work due to this move but
plan to really hit it again when I am settled in Houston........till
then, please keep in touch!

Hugs,

Josie Trevino-Trevino
San Antonio, TX.........but soon to be from Houston, TX!!

Hello Arturo:

Well, I am not going either.

Last month I went to Aguascalientes and Leon, Gto., Guadalajara & Lagos de
Moreno. And.....I came back with the ecoli bacteria again! Right now, I am
on some strong drug.....because I need to get well!!!

In Nov, Lee & I are going to Veracruz. And, of course our trip to Vegas for
New Years is all set. Our oldest daughter is joining us this year.

However, I am doing genealogy. I am going to help Angel Brown publish some
records out of Mexico. I need to help so that can come out as soon as
possible. Will tell you later....

Arturo....I got a couple of copies of some Teocaltiche stuff.....could not
get the book itself....so a copy is just as good. I bought the cabildo
records of Guadalajara...and got home..... read my list and it shows that I have
them in my library....have looked and looked and cannot find them!!!!

When I have time I will tell you about my trip to Mexico.....it was a trip
from hell! Although, it was also funny and crazy!! One thing I will tell
you....I will never, and I mean never stay with anyone again. I mean their
home!!! I really missed having Josie with me....we seem to get along okay.

Josie is in the process of moving to Houston. She will be living pretty
close. Her daughter lives here....maybe 20 miles or less? She bought a house
and is selling her San Antonio home.

Do you remember the lady that we know that sold some records to
Ancestry.com? I do not want to mention any names.....the records were not hers to
sell......she was paid $15,000.00 which went into her pocket. Well, last Friday
she was picked up by the DA's office taken to jail and booked. For
genealogy????
For stealing, really, not for the $15,000 but for about $3800.00 from the
last year's conference held in Corpus Christi. Only in Texas!!! She was
with the SAGA group. Acturally she was SAGA; she would not let anyone see the
treasury report...or any other report... The group has 'regrouped' and are
trying to keep afloat with the terrible reputation that has befallen them.

Anyway, that is not just idle gossip. I cannot imagine why someone would
mess their reputation for such a small amount of money.

Annual Hispanic Conference set for October

Hey everyone...

I just posted on my blog the latest schedule for the annual Hispanic genealogy
and family history conference at the FHL (Family History Library) in Salt Lake
City. I posted it before the FHL did, shh...

Just another reminder to anyone who is considering attending this conference. I am leaning towards attending and would love to see other Ranchos members there. Mickey, Josie, Kitty, Ulla-Britt and a whole bunch of us all met there last year and had a great time.

In addition to hearing George Ryskamp and our own Lynn Turner, you get the chance to do some research in the library. Salt Lake City is beautiful that time of year as well, even if there is not yet skiing.

Please contact me if you are considering going.

Comentario

As it turns out I will not be able to attend the conference in Salt Lake City that will be held in two weeks.

There is however, at least one Ranchos member who will be attending and would like to meet any other Ranchos members attending and perhaps share accomodations. Please contact me personally and I can help put you in touch.

Looking into my notes, I was able to attend the Third conference Hispana de
Historia Familiar por "Legado Latino" Oct 14, 2000 in Provo, Utah.
I will like particularly if you are new to the research of genealogy to
encourage you to attend.
Looking back that is where I learned the most and gave me the tools to
continue my research.
For those that are old at this, like I consider myself, (I wish I can go)
since 2000 to today many technology changes have taken place.
Since I connected with Nuestros Ranchos I have learned many things on how
to access information electronically.
Well, I hope you can plan to attend.

I second Sylvia's sentiments about making it to the conference.

For anybody who has not been to the family history library in Salt Lake City, it is a great opportunity to spend some time there doing reasearch. Since all of the films are there (or can be ordered with a few days notice from the vaults) it makes it very convenient.

Last year a group of us Ranchos members made it to the conference and we got to know each other in person and help each other out with research in addition to attending the seminars which were very helpful.

Jalpa, Zacatecas - Arechiga and Chavez

I just returned from Jalpa, Zacatecas. As someone mentioned and I already
knew Jalpa records are skimpy....very skimpy. What I found out and yet to
verify. The Arechigas arrived in Jalpa at approx 1820, it was 7 brothers and one

Dear Meche,

How exciting to just get up and go to Zacatecas!!!!!!! I went to Zac. on a tour, but didn't attempt to look up anything in the gov. agencies. I have a fax address back home in Texas, and will try to get more information through fax.

However, I had heard that it was not much easier to go to the places of interest. I would still like to do that, if only I were 10-15 years younger I would! I read the Chavez' on your tree, and sorry to say they don't ring a bell. I am looking for records way, way before the 1800's.

I will contact you through your e-mail.

sister from Spain. The Chavez arrived to Jalpa in approx 1880 from Ixtlan
Jalisco, there were two or three cousins Vicente Chavez Sanchez, Daniel Chavez
married to Emiteria Sanchez, a third possible cousin was Refugio Chavez.

I also got a book recently a professor on the story of Jalpa, if anyone is
interested, I can give title and email address to the professor at La Casa de la
Cultura.

Juanita, I live in Los Angeles and Dr. Maloney is here is Santa Monica, hope
your eye surgery went well.

Early Aguascalientes Marriages

Is there a resource for early marriage records from Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes. There appears to be no filmed marriage records prior to 1663.

I am looking for the marriage of Felipe Diaz de Santiago with Isabel de Turises which should have occured sometime between 1630 and 1640.

Arturo,

I, too, have extracted baptismal, marriage and burial entries of
"espanoles" for 0299421 (and other films in early AGuas.), and can't
find the entry you're looking for. I've reconstructed many families and
tried to cross-reference Diaz, Santiago, Turises, etc., but can't seem
to find them.

I, too, have found ancestors whose families were based in the town of
Aguas., but who moved out into Lagos de Moreno or Teocaltiche, in Jalisco.

Will search around a bit more. Good luck.

Connie, Bill:

Thank you for your diligence and help. I will have to keep looking somewhere else. The reason why I am so interested in this marriage document is because it should list the parents of Felipe Diaz de Santiago, who after becoming a windower of Isabel de Turises, moved to Tlaltenango and married Cecilia Lopez, a widow of Hernado de Haro, who is an Eve of sorts in the region, bearing twelve children between her two husbands.

Thus Felipe Diaz de Santiago (and his ancestors) are ancestors of a great number of people in the Tlaltenango region.

Comentario

Arturo,

I saw the children of this Felipe and Cecilia in Tlaltenango when I
searched yesterday, but could find nothing else. The only early Turises
I found were in the DF, but nothing leading to Isabel. Sorry couldn't be
of more assistance.

The marriage document of Cecilia Lopez and Felipe Diaz de Santiago states that he is a vecino of Aguascalientes, so I suppose he could be originario of somewhere other than Aguascalients and that he and Isabel de Turises were actually married somewhere else, DF?

Comentario

Arturo,

Most early records of Aguascalientes are found in LDS Film 299421 which includes Marriages 1601-1662 and 1667-1670, as well as Baptisms 1616-1660. The original records are in separate books but were included in the same film for one reason or another. I extracted baptismal and marriage data for individuals listed as "españoles" but did not find a Felipe Diaz de Santiago married to Isabel de Turises for 1630-1640. As I recall, some pages from 1629-1633 were not microfilmed and may be lost. I have the film on permanent loan and can check the exact missing dates if you wish.

Saludos,

Bill Figueroa

I really don't know. All I know is that I have a photograph signed by him to his father, Aurelio. It was signed in 1912. My relative Aurelio Martinez, I know left with a new wife in 1918 to New Mexico. I never heard any stories that he followed his father. I did hear though that he was a concert pianist. I really am lost in how to find what happened to him.

Thank you Daniel, but I do not believe that would be my Genaro because Aurelio was born in 1870, he would have been 12 when Genaro was born.
But thank you anyways, I appreciate it.

Comentario

Sofia:

You state that Aurelio was born in 1870. What is the source of that birth date?

One thing to remember is that many documents that list people's dates of birth are based on the subject's declarations and people often (due to social reasons or poor memory) misstated their dates of birth.

I have seen marriage documents where people stated that they were 10 or 12 years younger than their baptism record indicates. I think that baptism documents are really the only reliably source for birth dates prior to about 1880 or 1890 in Mexico. Even civil registries are not reliable as parents were fined for not registering children within a specified time period and so when parents had to postpone registration because of inconvenience or lack of funds to do so, they would inevitably lie about the child's birth date to avoid the fines.

Moral here is that it may actually be your Aurelio and the Freedom of Information Act request to obtain the social security record is not very cumbersome or expensive, though it does take a while to get the document.

Comentario

Arturo,

I actually have a typed document from 1942 stating when Aurelio was born and when, parents, grandparents and the name of the priest that baptised him in San Jose, Ojuelos. Its stamped as an official document. Also the dates go with the other papers I have in my hands, like Aurelio's parent and brothers. And the photograph I have of Genaro from 1912, he looks like a young man of 20 more or less. This is the other reason why I don't think he is the Genaro that Daniel found.
I know its like finding a needle in a hay stack and sometimes I think the only way I'll find something out is going in person to Jalisco. The other solution is asking for the films I believe he could be in and go threw all of them.

This person would like to know about the Villasenor/Cervantes/Lara
ancestral lines. You can either email me your replies or to the group

Hello Sylvia,

As I recall, there is some info. about the descendants of the Alférez Real Hernán Flores, 1er. Encomendero de Juchipila, Fundador de Guadalajara y Conquistador de la Nueva Galicia, in "Retoños de España en la Nueva Galicia" por Mariano González-Leal [Tomo II, Universidad de Guanajuato, Centro de Investigaciones Humanísticas, Escuela de Filosofía y Letras, 1983]. I'm checking early records of Aguascalientes but so far have not been able to identify any descendants of Diego Vázquez de Buendía and Doña Juana Velázquez. However, I've found a Doña Aldonsa Vázquez de Buendía who married Diego López de Nava. Their child Ursula was baptized in Aguascalientes (Ursula López de Nava fue bautizada el 21 de noviembre de 1645 en la Parroquia de la Asunción de Aguascalientes, siendo su padrino Martín Pérez Domínguez). Both Diego López de Nava and Aldonsa Vázquez de Buendía died and were buried in Aguascalientes. Diego died on 13 June 1656 and Aldonsa on 21 Nov 1645. I don't know how Diego Vázquez de Buendía was related to Doña Aldonsa, but judging by their burial dates I believe they may have been brother and sister. Do you have them in your database?

Hope this helps.
