Hello,

I was just curious as to the purpose of uploading/sharing family pictures/images. Is this something that could additionally help in the genealogy research or just a means of archiving photos digitally here in the Nuestros Ranchos Forums?

(I have many old family photos as far back as the turn of the 19th century & I am debating whether ot not to go through the trouble of uploading them.)

Thanks for your help in advance

Hola,

: Family Finder test now $99

Armando,

Very interesting topic. I have never done a DNA Test either. Can we just
do the Family Finder test? Will that be suffice?

The Family Finder+Y-DNA37 price is pretty steep even with the discount.

Thanks,
Victor

FamilyTreeDNA.com has lowered the price for the Family Finder test to $99.
Since there are so many of us that have at least one ancestor in common
this can be an additional tool in our research by helping each other out
with DNA matches and triangulation.

Here is a good site with an explanation of triangulation.

http://dna-explained.com/2013/06/21/triangulation-for-autosomal-dna/

You will also get to see what percentage of European, Amerindian, Asian,
Middle Eastern and African ancestry you have.

Previously the price was so high it was hard to justify spending so much on
the test. Now with the current price it might be worth it to many of you.
Here is a link where it can be ordered.

http://www.familytreedna.com/family-finder-compare.aspx

You can also order it and join the Los Altos de Jalisco DNA project at the
following site -

http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=losaltosdejalisco

The prices have also been reduced for some of the Y-DNA tests.

Saludos,
Armando

American Revolution reaches Texas

June 21, 1779

On this day in 1779, Spain came to the aid of the rebelling American colonists by formally declaring war on Great Britain. The primary role played by Texas in the conflict was to supply Spanish forces mounting an assault on British territory from Louisiana. King Carlos III commissioned Bernardo de Gálvez to conduct a campaign against the British along the Mississippi River and the Gulf Coast. In order to feed his troops, Gálvez sent an emissary, Francisco García, to...

Announce Digest, Vol 85, Issue 3

Hello, I am very interested in the DNA test, I just wonder what the difference in FamilyTree and Ancestry tests are.  Ancestry is now $99.00 as well.  My family connections are Femat, Montanez, Vivar de Romo and Pedro Perez and Justa Gonzalez from Rincon Grande, Jalisco.  I would love to connect with my family.  This is my first note, I hope I am doing this correctly

Los primeros Orozco en Jalisco y pintores

Hola

Cordona, Rosita Maria

This may be the wrong place to ask this and if so, I apologize. I have a problem and since I neither read nor write Spanish, I am in a quandry.

Rosita Maria Cordona was supposedly born ca Bet. 11 Oct 1909 - 1912 Spanish Honduras,(Bonnacca, Honduras). When she was about 9-10, supposedly her father (no name) died while working on Suez Canal, and she was sent to America with a Fermina Kirkconnell family to get an education. However, after finding the person I believe to be Rosita arriving Apr 4 1920 with that family on Ship: Emma Belliveau (ship sailed March 18 1920 from Bonacco, Honduras), through Cuba arriving in Tampa, FL and again July 11 1925 as Rorsita (last name illegible on original) I have no link of Rosita to the Kirkconnell family in US. Do find Rosita in 1930 maid, living 7709 Central Ave., Tampa, FL; in 1934 as cook 212 East Ross Avenue, Do, Tampa, FL; April 1935 living with the Eatons 80 Vandeventer Place, St Louis, St Louis City, Missouri; April 1940 as a cook living with the Eatons at 80 Vandeventer Place, St Louis, St Louis City, Missouri; married 26 Dec 1940 Hot Springs, Garland, Arkansas to R
oman Benedict Pike. By 1945, she, Benedict and daugher Ann are back in Temple Terrace, Tampa, Hillsborough Co., FL She died 21 Nov 2004 in Glynn Co., GA. and is buried St Anthony of Padua Cemetery, Palm Ave San Antonio, FL.

Rosita did have a son Albert Allen Cardona born 12 Dec 1928 in Tampa, FL. Her daughter has no other info on her than that, and would like to know the true story of Rosita's birth year, parents, etc.

Francisco de Santiago and Ynes de Artiaga y Alvarado

Francisco de Santiago and Ynes de Artiaga y Alvarado had three known children baptized at San Antonio de Padua, Tlajomulco de Zuniga, Jalisco:
-Miguel, bapt. 29 May 1633
-Baltasar, bapt 29 Jan 1640
-Juan, bapt. 18 Aug 1642

These baptisms are listed in the recently released images for Tlajomulco de Zuniga on Family Search.

No marriage record has been found for Francisco and Ynes.

Juan de Santiago, also known as Juan de Santiago y Escobar, moved to Aguaslcalientes, married three times (Antonia Ruis de Esparza, Getrudis de Esparza y Rangel, and Maria Getrudis de Nabarro [or de Naba]), and had many children, as well as very many descendants in Aguascalientes and Calvillo.

Proof that this Juan de Santiago y Escobar is the son of Francisco and Ynes comes from the document describing Antonia Ruis de Esparza's dowry which names his parents, Francisco and Ynes.

I have been unable to find any further trace of Miguel and Baltasar. I've searched for them with surnames Santiago and Escobar.

Does anyone have information on Miguel or Baltasar, and perhaps descendants? Is there any information on Francisco and Ynes?

I have been unable to find records with Family Search. I put in names and
all I was getting was 'no record'. I realized it was impossible to have
so many 'no record'. I put the name of a person I knew was in the records
and again got a 'no record'.

I called Family Search and after quite a long time the problem was
resolved.

find!!!

I've found several similar but not the same names that my Family Tree Maker program has condensed to read as one person. Is anyone else finding this problem with their files.

I'm new to nuestrosranchos and am still learning. I've been working on my family genealogy for a long time, and have finally been able to find documentation through familysearch.org (lots of baptism records!)

My 3rd Great Grandmother was named Eduvige Casillas Verdin (1798), her mother was Maria Jesus Verdin Romo, or Ana Jesus Berdin (unknown birth date), depending on the documents I've found. Her grandfather was Pascual Verdin Villavicencio Moya (1717 or 1735, I have found both of these dates for him)

Pascual's parents seem to be Juan Bautista Verdin y Codar and Maria de Josefa Villavicencio Moya y Monroy, but this is based only on other's family tree and not on and documentation.

I would appreciate any suggestions on finding a good connection between Eduvige and Juan Bautista and Maria de Josefa. I feel as if I"m missing a generation somewhere between them.

Thank you,

Hello, Everyone!

Can someone give information or contacts with people doing research on the Tamez/Tames families from Nuevo Leon?
I understand some books about the last name have been published but cannot locate any of them. Can anyone point me in the right direction here as I have no publisher or name of authors but have only heard about the books existing.

Also, does anyone know for sure the origin of the last name?  So far all I have found says its either Jewish or Arabic.

Hoping to get a response,

Elvira
