Page 170 (of 176) in the Civil Birth Records for San Miguel el Alto, Jalisco, the following entry refers to "indio" but I cannot determine if it says "no indio" or "ni indio" . . . or why this is referenced in all of the civil records in this book/record:

Entry #581, 21 Dec 1884, birth of Maria Espectacion Avalos (parents Ramon Avalos & Jacinta Plasencia).

In another book (1883) from the same municipality, I found an entry that read "no indigena." Does anyone know the exact meaning of this term and why it was included in these records?

I know the literal translation (not indigenous), but is this what was intended? Did I read it incorrectly? Does anyone know why this was an important distinction to document during this time period?

I was hoping this line of my family was indeed indigenous, so I'm hoping I misread or misinterpreted.

In all my years looking at films, I have never seen one like 644362. It has everything but the kitchen sink in there, and groups of records are completely out of order throughout.

The film has bautismos (and I saw many that said "espanola de la Villa") for both espanoles and others, and the "casamientos" appear all throughout. I found one page for 1618, but it was for Noviembre, never found the one for Junio. Maybe some day I will go through the film one image at a time (I only spot checked it every 10 pages or so), but right now my husband wants his tamale pie.

Estimados colegas de Nuestros Ranchos, Saludos y paso a lo siguiente. Solicito ayuda para encontrar datos sobre Diego de San Martin quien llego a Mexico en epoca de la conquista. EStuvo casado con Elvira Ordonez y tuvieron 2 hijos Juan Michel Ordonez y Cristobal de Ordonez. Es probable que Tuvo Encomienda en Tonala ya que vivio ahi algunos anos y fallecio alrrededor de 1536. Si algun companero tiene cualquier dato o conexcion en sus investigaciones yo le estaria eternamente agradecido por hacerme saber de ello. My great grandmother Leonor Miranda Landa was seperated from her parents Dario Miranda and Senovia Landa when she was about 5 years old.
A couple of days ago I found their Civil Marriage Certificate in Arteaga Michoacan

I found a Cenobia Landa from Michoacan living in Zacatecas in the 1930 census. Could this be my missing ancestor?

I have just posted a report with four generations of descendants of Tomas de Villalpando and Maria de Veles, of Leon, GTO. Their descendants lived in Aguascalientes and Asientos.

The file is located in the files area, under my name.

I do not know if Tomas and Maria went to Agauscalientes, but their son, Tomas, did. He married twice, and left many descendants there, and in Asientos. I have followed the Santiago y Escobar (aka Santiago de Escobar) family extensively, but not the others. I have only limited information on the descendants of the son Marcos.

This file should be considered a work in progress.

I have not yet found anything that connects this family to Juan de Villalpando of Leon, that we have been discussing in detail lately.

If anyone could add to this file, link it Juan de Villalpando, or make corrections, please let me know.

I'm still having issues with Family Search. I'm accessing it the way I've always accesed it to the state of Zacatecas. I was looking at film # 226688, bautismos de Nochistlan, 1894-1896, Volumen # 66. I viewed and extracted data from image # 336, page # 524, item # 1 and then I used the arrow for the next 3 pages and after that it began with loading image, the image loaded and then it vanished. I tried another film# 226689 and the same thing occured.
 
Am I doing something wrong?

I clicked on Films for Colotlan, Jalisco baptism records for 1859 and THREE consecutive times I was redirected to either the Family Search Pilot search or Joseph Puentes' member files! What's going on???

I hope someone can help me, I have reached a dead end. In what town can I find records of people living in Tepesalilla, Baqueria, Huejucar and Ojocaliente, Aguascalientes, in 1700 t0 1750? The Calvillo records do not go back that far. I have tried El Sagrario, Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes with no luck. Thanks.

As someone new to geneology I wish to thank all who have contributed to my education at Nuestros Ranchos. I have been very successful in searching lines throughout Jalisco. Now the problem is that the records I need are not available (Don't go back far enough) and are missing. My question is if, for example, baptism records begin for a particular church in 1775, is that when the church first began baptisms and earlier records do not exist? If particular dates are missing (Ten year)does that mean they do not exist? or they were just not posted?
I have searched FamilySearch library and these records are not available to order.
Are their other resources? Is there some list of when particular churches were founded? Thank you for your help. Deedra Corona

Tengo dificultad leyendo y comprendiendo una partida de un Libro de Bautismos del 1706. Parte de la razón es porque la página ya se está haciendo pedazos y varias palabras ya no están en la página. Otra razón, más importante, es que se trata del bautizo de un niño que es hijo de una esclava que parece pertenecer al hermano del padre. Además de que la partida no está en la forma tradicional de lugar, fecha, sacerdote, niño/a, padres, padrinos y firma, está incluido el nombre de la esclava y su dueño. ¿Quiénes son los padres? Mi bisabuelo séptimo, Alonso Hernándes de Rueda está incluido con su esposa Chatarina Ramires de Mendosa. La madre, Marcela Faunesca (¿o Tauesca?), de Parisio (¿o Patrisio?), es la esclava de Bernardo Hernándes de Rueda. Al decir que Parisio es mulato esclavo, ¿puede uno inferir que la madre es africana?

Los films de bautismos de Teocalitiche han sido de mucho ayuda. ¿Es posible poder añadir los films de bautismos empezando con el año 1639 hasta el año 1774? Yo no tenía la esperanza de llegar tan atras en el pasado. Pero ya que estoy allí, quisiera continuar. Verdaderamente agradezco mucho que estos films estan aqui para nuestro uso. He logrado bastante con la ayuda de Nuestros Ranchos.
