www.familysearch.org/Eng/Home/SimplePAFRegistration/asp

As Arturo has already mentioned there is a great need to standardize
the submissions from the newest group members. If you go to these
new submissions within their folders sometimes it is very difficult
to understand who is who because of the way the information is entered.

If you are a new member and just started your research you need to
start working toward standardizing your information within a
genealogy program. One very good and FREE option is PAF.

Go to the www.familysearch.org site

Meliton Gonzalez, Maria Navarro, Aceves, Barba, Romero, de la Torre

First of all let me apologize for writing in English. I do not speak
Spanish. I also do not know what you wrote to Nuestros Ranchos, but
the names are familiar.

My father was Jose Ramon Romero de la Torre, son of Castulo Romero
and Sofia de la Torre. He was born in Tepatitlan de Morelos in 1907.

Meliton Gonzalez and Maria Navarro had a daughter named Maria
Gonzalez who married Miguel Barba. Miguel Barba's parents were Jose
Wenceslas Barba and Maria Mersedes (Brigida) Jimenez. Miguel Barba's
sister, Maria Encarnacion Barba married Jose Romero who is brother to
my grandfather, Castulo Romero. Castulo and Jose are the sons of
Manuel Romero and Marcelina de la Torre.

Maria Refugio de la Torre married Jose Jesus Navarro and have
children named Fernando and Maria. Fernando married Maria Luisa
Romero, my grandfather Castulo Romero's sister.

Gil Navarro was mentioned in the marriage registration of Manuel
Romero and Marcelina de la Torre. I haven't been able to read
everyone's name because I have a poor copy and it is hard to read.

It looks like our families connect. Do you know anything about the
de la Torre and Romero families? Are we cousins? I have gotten most
of my information through the microfisch copies of the Baptismos of
Tepatitlan in Salt Lake City.

I have posted my gedcom at nuestrosranchos. The entry for Manuel
Romero has an incorrect birth date. His parents were Serapio Romero
and Petra Pena. I will be sending a corrected gedcom to nuestros
soon. I just deciphered Manuel's parents names from his marriage
registration and am trying to find more information about Serapio and
Petra.

I am very excited to finally find a connection through Ranchos. I
hope we can help each other out.

Your cousin (I think)

New Member Genealogy Listing - Nuevo Listado de Genealogias de Miembros

(Espanol sigue abajo)

Our membership has grown substantially over the last year. We now have over 150 members, and due to Joseph's diligence, we now have genealogies from every member. This made the Members' Genealogy folder listing a bit long and difficult to use so we have decided to split it up into multiple pages and add alphabetical markers on each of the pages.

There are now three links from the Files page to member genealogies, one for A-G, another for G-M and another for M-Z. Please let us know if you have any problems using the new lists.

==ESPANOL==

hi John,

I'm guessing that the name was originally Ojo de Agua de Rosales. Here it is on this map. I would place by place do a place search on the www.familysearch.org site and see which closest location was big enough to support a church.

Fiesta del 20 de Enero - Papaqui's

Enrique,

I checked the site and under Regidor/Parque y Mercado you will find Ingeniero Hector Duran Avelar, he's my first cousin. His mom and my dad (deceased) were brother and sister. My aunt lives in San Jose 75% of the time and in Nochistlan the rest of the time.

Thanks for posting this, maybe someday I will get the opportunity to be there for this festival.

I begin to write a summary of the the San Sebastian Feast, but my attempts to describe it could not do it justice to the essence of the feast. Instead, I suggest you go to the link above which describes in Spanish the Feast, its origin and the devotion of the people in Nochistlan.

On nuestros ranchos site I posted some photos I took of the feast.

enjoy!

Santelices in Zacatecas

Arturo,
Thank you so much. Agustina Santelices was my grandmother, and this incident is indicative of the elusiveness I've encountered tracing her family. It's interesting that this unknown procurador Santelices and Agustina's father, Francisco Santelices's Panuco marriage are the only Santelices mentioned in relation to Zacatecas. Most Santelices are either from DF or Puebla. A handful are found in GTO and Queretero. Would this procurador have been living in Zacatecas or been making his recommendation from DF? Your knowledge and opinios are greatly appreciated. Again, Arturo, thank you so much for all that you do. Alice

The only mention of the surname Santelices is of a procurador (attorney general) by that name (no first name given) recommending that a tribunal show leniancy to a group of miners... The source document is Archivo Historico del Palacio de la Mineria, Elecciones de 1792, decision del procurador, Mexico, 1 Dec 1792.

Saludos a Todos,
I have posted a new article on my website about the Knights Templar.
I have tried to remain relatively unbiased about this very
controversial subject in order to better inform those that are new to
the subject. My aim is to encourage more research about the Templars
and the other Military orders among Hispanic Genealogy researchers.
Some of our ancestors were members of these orders and no genealogy is
complete without this information.

I would be honored if you would review my article and let me know what
you think. Comments both positive and negative are welcome.

Accessing Senores de Zacatecas

Arturo,
I really hate to bother you again, but I'd really like to read the Los Senores list. After I follow your instructions to Daniel and click the nuestros ranchos user's guide, the same thing happens when I click the second volume of Los Senores. A small icon at the bottom left says it is downloading from site, but where is it? Nothing appears before or after the downloading asking whether I want to open, save, etc. Please, what am I doing wrong.. Thank you so much, Alice -- arturo.ramos2@gmail.com wrote:

Daniel:

After logging in to Nuestros Ranchos, go to the link:

http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/15662

Or go to Files - Books and Articles

You will see there are two files as attachments to that folder. The names are listed alphabetically with the first file A-L and the second L-Z.

You can rotate the document within Adobe. I suggest you save the file and then open it from your desktop as each one is 2MB...

If you are having trouble using the site, I suggest you download the Nuestros Ranchos User Guide which is available in the Files - References section.

Camino in Zacatecas

Arturo, At the risk of sounding totally computer illiterate, how do I view the names? I've tried clicking on the volumes and it says downloading from nuestros...but I never see anything. What am I doing wrong? Sorry, and thanks so much, Alice

Volunteers needed to finish Nuestros Ranchos User Guide

Thanks to the efforts of volunteers, we got the Nuestros Ranchos User Guide started and about halfway finished last summer. The project has been sitting gathering dust and I would like to get it completed as I think it will be very useful for the new members who are not familiar with all of the functions of the site. There is a Spanish and an English version. The outlines are finished, they just need to have meat put on the bones (along with some screen prints). Please let me know if you can help...

The missing sections are:

Section D.
7. Searching GEDCOM database
8. Using the Films database

Sección E. Account and File Maintenance
1. Updating your files (delete/reupload)
2. Updating your profile
3. Changing your password/username
