Parents of Mateo Perez de Frias - Jalisco/Zacatecas

Hello - looking for assistance from the Yanez Family line of Nochistlan, Zacatecas.

Joseph Yañez-Pérez was my 6th great-grandfather (circa 1686–1751) married to:
Antonia Anciso (circa 1690-?)

Joseph was the son of Juan Yanez del Monte (1640s-1673) married to:
Thomasa Úrsula Pérez de Frías (circa 1650-?)

Thomasa's father was Matheo Perez De Frias (circa 1626–1693) married to:
Thomasa de la Cruz (circa 1629– ?)

I am trying to determine the true parents of Matheo Perez de Frias. In a couple of ancestry sites, I have seen the parents noted as:

Luis Delgadillo Perez de Frias (circa 1598–1649) married to:
Melchora de Los Reyes Rodriguez de Carvajal (circa 1604–1656)

However, I do not have proof of this. Does anyone in this forum have documentation to prove this? Or do you know who his parents might be if not Luis and Melchora?

Thank you!
Dolores Yanez Noonan

Yanez Family Origins

I am new to the forum and researching various family members in Mexico. My question today is around the Yanez family in Nochistlan, Zacatecas. My ancestors include Gonzalo del Monte (circa 1650) and Jose Maria Yanez (circa 1800). I am curious if anyone knows the origins of the Yanez family. Did they come from Spain or Portugal? If anyone has anything they can share, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Saludos.

Rancho Los Aguajes, Zacatecas (near Tlaltenango, Tepechitlan, Cicacalco)

I've just returned from walking the land of my grandparents with the surnames of Luna Herrera. It was breathtakingly beautiful. Of course, I was left with only tons more questions.

It is located within a very healthy walking distance from Cicacalco, but many of my own relatives (Lunas) came to settle from Tepechitlan.

Does anyone know about this "rancho"'s history? It is very large - and easily sustained hundreds upon hundreds of families back in the 1800's, but an exodus seemed to occur in the 1900's (my own grandparents came to escape the revolutionary war), but many more came to the U.S. for economic reasons.

Would love to learn how this incredible large parcel of land called "rancho aguajes" came to be....who were the original settlers, etc...

--------------------------

consanguinidad

Greetings,
While reading an informacion matrimonial that contained consanguinidad en tercero con
cuartro grado. Two of the testigos claim that "conocio bien a toda la familia incluso el tronco que lo fue, Francisco Dias". What does "el tronco" mean in this context?
Is Francisco Dias the head of the family or the relative they have in common?
Thanks so much,

San Francisco near Degollado or Ayotlan?

This time, I'm researching my wife's ancestors, and I'm trying to find the location of this town called San Francisco, I assume, in Jalisco.

Antonio Martinez and Maria Merced Ramos were married on March 16, 1872 in San Ignacio de los Encinos (now Degollado). It mentions that at that time, Degollado was an auxiliar parish of Ayo el Chico (now Ayotlan). Both Antonio and Merced are mentioned to be from a place called San Francisco "en este partido".

I can't find any San Francisco's around Degollado. Can someone more familiar with that parish tell me if this place's name changed over time or any idea where is it located at?

Asientos de Ibarra - Joseph de Herrera and Maria Antonia Mathiana Macias

Hi everyone

I have a couple in my tree that I am stuck on. I haven't had much chance to read through actual films looking for them. Currently I am reading IMs for Villanueva, but this couple is next on my list so I was wondering if anyone knew anything or had any clues.

All I have are their names on the record of their son's first marriage
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-F7XC-G?i=221&wc=3JHQ-H…

And their names again on the baptism record of their grandson from their son's second marriage (padrinos Antonio and Maria Rosalia Macias)
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-57R5-V?i=149&wc=3JXL-4…

I could not find an IM in Colotlan for the first marriage and I read through the Colotlan death films and did not see death records for Joseph or Mathiana, nor have I been able to identify any siblings for Marcelino. Imagine Joseph and Mathiana would have been born sometime between 1700-1730 depending on how old Marcelino is. He died in 1838.

I wondered if anyone more familiar with families from Asientos de Ibarra knew anything of this couple.

Thanks in advance

~ Andrea

Buenaventura Hernandez Martinez from Degollado, Jalisco looking for baptism reg.

Hi,

I have been searching for my great great grandfathers baptism reg. for the past year but come to a road block. Just wondering if anyone can give me some pointers how to find it. The only document I have is his marriage reg. and it says he is originario from Pueblo Nuevo, which was San Ignacio de los Encinos, which is now Degollado, Jalisco. https://www.ancestry.com/interactive/60017/MM9.3.1_2FTH-1-18570-15014-0…

I have looked in the following municipals, Ayotlan, Arandas, Jesus Maria and Degollado but no luck. I found one in Hidalgo, Mx. for July 1852 but there is no way that is him because it's 3 states away and it says he was originario from above.

His parents were, Juan Hernandez and Maria Guadalupe Martinez, which are very common names. I have found documents for them but not 100% it is them and that is the reason I'm searching for his baptism reg. to confirm it's them. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Esther

civil-v-church matrimony

When a child was born, it appears that the parents had it baptized prior to registering it
with the civil government. For obvious reasons of infant mortality and salvation, I suppose.

When it came to marriage, which would the couple do first? Church or civil ceremony?

Thanks so much,
Alice BB

New to the Site

Hello. I am new to the site and want to introduce myself. I am researching my family lines from Zacatecas. One of my great grandparents was born in Concepcion del Oro and came from a family of miners. I have hit a brick wall on that line and cannot find any information beyond my 4 great great grandparents. I have another family line from Coahuila that I have traced back to Zacatecas in the 1700s to Mazapil and surrounding areas. I have hit a brick wall there, too. I know I will break through my brick walls eventually. I am excited to be a part of this group and look forward to learning more that may help me find my ancestors.

LOMELIN - Ocotlán

Hello: Is there anyone out there who is a male who descends from these ancestors ?:

A. Jose Manuel Lomalin (Becerra) B: Circa 1754 Ocotlan
B. Jose Cayetano Lomelin (Perez) B: April 26, 1780 Ocotlán
C. PEREZ- Juan Antonio Perez de Vargas G: 3/17/1738

I would greatly appreciate it. Our family has been told for generations that our great grandfather was not a Perez, but a Lomelin. It would be helpful to find someone who depended from these ancestors.

Thank you,

S. Medina Perez

What is a rancho in Mexico?

Since my grandparents came from a "rancho", but died too early to share their experiences or descriptions in Mexico....I always deduced that a "rancho" was a parcel of land that usually had "animales" - like ganado, horses, goats, sheep. That was my experience from my family's northern roots (Nuevo Leon/Coahuila) where I have fond memories of "roughing" it at the family rancho. Great fun, really.

But when I visited the "rancho" where my mother's family was from (near Las Moras - in Aguajes - within the jurisdiction of Tlaltenango, Zacatecas), I discovered that the definition of "rancho" changed from large parcels of land where animals were raised to super large parcels of land that is harvested for food. Such an "aha" moment for me....in fact, I was able to see the same home where my great great grandfather was raised - and witnessed that it is still a working farm.

Background for the group: Los Aguajes is a 10-20 minute car ride from Cicacalco - a small town that is considered to be predominately indigenous (at one point). In fact, as one enters the vicinity of Los Aguajes, one has to go through "Las Moras" - but as one goes into Los Aguajes - one learns that part of its' lands belong to the indigenous people of Cicacalco.

A question for the group: Is there a way we can find out any historical information on these "ranchos"? Who were the land grands given to originally? Did the Mexican constitution affect the land owners of these ranchos like the haciendas?

Abraham González Casavantes 1864-1913

Hello again after some time!

This post is to ask for help especially to those who have studied the González de Hermosillo lastname.

In my notes I have this Abraham González Casavantes (Governor of Chihuahua, Mex. And Vicepresident of México) as a González de Hermosillo, descendant of my 7th grandparents Juan Antonio González de hermosillo and Gertrudis Gómez Rendón Álvarez Tostado.I have his line as follows:

Juan Antonio
Antonio Gervasio bap 24-jun-1725
José Joaquín
Paulino Gonzalez Morán cc Guadalupe Martínez de Mendívil
Abraham Gonzalez Mendívil cc Dolores Casavantes Domínguez
Abraham Gonzalez Casavantes.born in Guerrero, Chihuahua 1864

I guess I got that line from geneanet but there are no sources and I recently saw that in Wikipedia there's a small statement that claims that his father was from a small town in Santander, Spain, while I have that Paulino González Morán was born in Teocaltiche, Jal.

Has anyone done some research about it?

Thanks.

Revista Hidalguía número 154-155. Año 1979 Rodrigo Fernandez Trevino

Hello all,

I am a new poster :D and I am really excited to join the group. I am so impressed with everyone here and the dedication to research.

I was reviewing Pages 402-403 of "Revista Hidalguía número 154-155."~ Año 1979 to determine how current research from Don Diego De Velasco de Tremino who married Dona Francisca Alcozer de Banuelos connects with this family branch on these pages.

Here is the link:

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
