Manuel de Villalpando and Maria Gregoria Guardado

Don Manuel de Villalpando and his wife Dona Maria Gregoria Guardado (d/o Eugenio Jose Guardadp and Maria Gertrudis Garcia) had at least 9 children from 1778 the late 1790s, of whom 8 are in the baptismal registers of Asientos, AGS. For one, Rafael, there is no baptism record, but his marriage record, and the baptism records of his children place him in this family.

I have not found a marriage record for Manuel and Gregoria.

Does anyone know who Manuel's parents are?

Joseph Miguel Pedroza de padres no conocidos

Hola Forum,

About 2 years ago, I was helping my cousins the Pedrozas with their family tree. I stopped at Joseph Miguel de Pedroza because in his marriage record it states he was from Padres no conocidos. I looked over the record yesterday and noticed someone had added that he was born in Sauces, Lagos de Moreno but there was no source for it. I found their IM and in the image it stated he was natural de Dionicia (so he did have a mother listed) and from the Sauces in Lagos. I then read the testigos and a Francisco Xavier de Pedroza stated he knew Joseph since he was just born. I looked up Francisco Xavier and right under him born in 1706 was Maria Dionicia Pedroza.

IM Image: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-6919-Y3W

Maria Dionicia Pedroza Macias (25 yo) was married to Nicolas Dias Tiscareno (44yo) vdo. de Juana Maria del Campo Yssasi Pedroza… They had a dispensa because his wife and wife to be were 3rd blood relation, but I had not read it 2 years ago. He states he has had a long standing illicit relationship with her and being that she is a Huerfana (mother was still alive) and very poor and their relationship was well known publicly that she would not be able to find someone to marry her.

From all this information it seems Nicolas Dias is the father of Joseph Miguel Pedroza. Here is the problem, Joseph Miguel would have been born around 1725, and they did not get married until 1731 6 years later but Nicolas Dias would have still been married as he was a vdo. for only 7 months in April 1731.
I have not searched to see if any of Joseph Miguel Pedroza used Dias or Tiscareno though that might have started a quarrel with his other children maybe.
Would love some other insight. Thanks

Help with Aguascalientes Info Matri. list by George Fulton

Hi

I have discovered George Fultons list of extracted Info Matrimoniales for Aguascalientes (open the tab for "Files" and then "Reference Materials" here in NR )- what a fantastic resource!

I can see there is an Antonio Villalpando de padre no conocido.

However, I cannot find the actual image.

There is no volume 1709, so I looked via the link 1708-1710 (for Aguascalientes Asuncion de Maria).

I must be looking in the wrong place but I have no idea where the right place is. Can anyone send me in the right direction?

This is the info from page 132 on George's list:

Groom: de Villalpando, Antonio (Espanol; ) Bride: Lopez, Ana (Espanola; )

Cobian de Busto, Mexico City, Celaya, & New Mexico

Hi all,

I have been looking for more information on Antonio Cobian de Busto cc Isabel de Tapia in Mexico City on 17 Mar 1717. The record says they received a dispensation for the marriage bans before and after the marriage. They were also both recorded with the honorific Don y Dona.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939Z-5N9H-K4?i=698&wc=3P62-…

Their marriage was also recorded in 1733 in Celaya, where they were vecinos, mentioning that their marriage had occurred earlier in Mexico City. Neither record lists their parents. They had at least two sons in Celaya before their marriage was recorded in 1733.

I think it is possible I have found another lead on Antonio, since there is a visitador of the presidios of New Mexico named Antonio Cobian Busto. He is mentioned in a variety of books and websites, but I have not seen anything about his origins.

Some examples:

https://books.google.com/books?id=Otz-kNm-c_EC&pg=PA276&lpg=PA276&dq=an…

https://books.google.com/books?id=TFS5_szf-G8C&pg=PA315&lpg=PA315&dq=an…

https://books.google.com/books?id=Otz-kNm-c_EC&pg=PA269&lpg=PA269&dq=an…

However, it is possible the dates might exclude him from being the same Antonio Cobian Busto who had sons in Celaya in 1725 and 1727. Has anyone encountered Cobian de Busto or Tapia in Guanajuato or Mexico City? Any thoughts about the visitador and these families would be great!

Familia Madera

Saludos

Marcelina

Document with some interesting names...

I found a visita of Nueva Galicia in 1616.

Here is where it starts:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSDL-NS23-S?cat=278176

Seems to be mostly about indians. But I have found mentioned Francisca Suarez de Ibarra, Antonio Siordia, Sebastian Perez de Frias married to an indian, Mateo Sandoval, and Alonso Gomez Garay thus far.

Here is Mateo Sandoval and Alonso Gomez Garay
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSDL-NSKL-L?i=107&cat=…

You can find the other names between the two images I have linked. My spanish is not so good, so please let me know if anything useful pops out of this!

Thanks

Amézola, Amésola (Ayo el Chico)

Hi!

I hit a brick wall with Manuel de Amézola or Amésola & Rosa María or Anna María Padilla. They would have married about 1744 or earlier.

By my count, they had three children:

1. Bernardo. He was baptized on August 28, 1745 in Ayo el Chico.

2. Joseph Leonardo. He was on baptized December 8, 1756, also in Ayo el Chico.

3. Manuela. She married Marcos Barrera on February 5, 1776 in Ayo el Chico.

Any assistance given would be very much appreciated.

Thank you.

Maria de Luna india principal Cienega de Mata

I was going through the Info Matrimoniales for Asientos today and came across the following entry for a marriage between Antonio Moreno and Maria de Luna:

I have never myself come across an entry for an india principal, and thought this entry may be of interest to anyone with the de Luna name from Cienega de Mata.

Sebastiana Carvajal and Pedro Gutierrez

Hello Nuestros Ranchos Forum,

Does anyone know anything about Sebastiana Carvajal and Pedro Gutierrez?
I’m trying to figure out who their parents are. Sebastiana and Pedro
would’ve been born about 1675, probably in San Juan de los Lagos. Their
daughter Maria Gutierrez married Juan Macias Valadez, the son of Marcos
Macias Valadez and Maria de Ulloa.

Missing online records

Hi,

A couple of questions and the quote from the Family Search webpage about missing records.

1. Are the missing online records of Nochistlan are in the process of being digitized? Or are they completely missing?

2. If the missing online records are in a microfilm collection, would any local Family History Center have them?

"If the locality and time period you need are not included in the online records, the next step is to find them in the microfilm collection of the Family History Library. Currently, they are being digitized, and plans are to complete that project by 2020. Check back occasionally to see if your records have become available. In the meantime, some of them might be available at a Family History Center near you."

Domingo de Santiago

Domingo de Santiago and Petronila Perez (aka Petra de los Reyes) were the parents of Getrudis de Santiago who married Joseph de Esparza (widower of Nicolasa Ramirez; and son of Juan de Esparza and Bernarda de Siordia) 20 Jul 1729 in Aguascalientes, according to the matrimonial investigation.

Getrudis was born about 1711 (age 18 at marriage), so Domingo de Santiago may have been born about 1690, or earlier.

Does anyone know who Domingo's parents might be?

Baptism records

I am in the process of researching baptism records on Ancestry from the Asuncion de Maria Catholic church in Aguascalientes.

Several signatures keep reoccurring on multiple records and I am wondering if these individuals are the priests conducting the baptism or possibly local government officials or witnesses. Names are repeated in the text, on the left margin and at the bottom of each record.

Specifically, what appears to be the name "Francisco Narvaes" on the attached record would be the surname of my mother's ancestors. Is this the signature of the attending priest or is it the the name of some other official? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Anyone have access to Mezquitic, Jalisco/Monte Escobedo, Zacatecas Defunto records of 1708 - 1710?

Hi,

I have an ancestor name Antonio Madera that was residing in Minillas near Mezquitic, Jalisco and Monte Escobedo, Zacatecas.

I am quite sure he passed away in 1709 by circumstantial data where in 1708 he referenced in a baptismo record of being alive and in 1710 again he was referenced in a baptismo record of being defunto where that has me assuming he passed away in 1709 but there are no records of that year in the familysearch.org website.

Does anyone have access to defunto records of 1709 give plus/minus 2 years around that? He was married to Maria Candelaria Angon who passed away in 1735 and her defunto record is in Monte Escobedo, Zacatecas.

I am also wondering that since the "Real Audencia" Government of Guadalajara, Jalisco and the Obispo of Catholic Archdiocese of Guadalajara, Jalisco had jurisdiccion of the provinces of "Nueva Galicia (Zacatecas, Jalisco, Aguascalientes), Durango, Nayarit, Coahuila, Los Californias, Texas during that time period, might contain the base of all records?

But after Mexican Independence from Spain and the Government Authority shifted to Mexico City as the Central Authority of all the provinces had the records from the colonial era that were archived in Guadalajara moved to Mexico City????

Great Uncle who was a priest

I've been trying to research and find out more information about a great uncle who was born in Cocula, Jalisco, México and passed in Guadalajara, Jalisco, México. He was a priest based on his death record. Does anyone have any suggestion on how I would be able to find out which parish he was associated with? Or how I can find out more information about him?

Another Hernando Flores de la Torre

Does anyone have this Hernando Flores de la Torres linked up to the main branch of the family?

I have a Hernando Flores de la Torre married to Gertrud's de Ornelas baptizing the following children all in Teocaltiche:

1. Gertrudis - 19 Mar 1675
2. María - 12 Nov 1676
3. Lugarda - 20 Sep 1682
4. Josefa - 25 May 1684
5. Cayetano - 16 Sep 1687
6. Catalina - 14 Sep 1689

In my notes, I have Gertrudes Ornelas as a possible daughter of Gerónimo de Ornelas y Mendoza and his wife María Rubio.

Best Regards,

Daniel Méndez de Torres y Camino

Another Andrés Martínez de Sotomayor

Follow researchers,

I have an Andrés Martínez de Sotomayor married to Isabel Ramírez de los Hinojos on 27 Dec 1683 in Aguascalientes. Isabel is the daughter of my ninth great granduncle, Juan Alonso de los Hinojos and his wife Isabel Ramírez. Textually, the marriage records literally states:

27 de diciembre de 1683 - Hacienda del Tíguere
Andrés Martín vesino de la jurisdicción de la villa de Lagos haviendo presentado la licentia por escrito de su paroco con Isabel Ramírez vesina de esta jurisdicción hija lexítima de Juan Alonso de los Hinojos ya difunto y Ysabel Ramírez. Testigos Nicolás Macías, don Gonzalo de Villaseñor y Miguel Días.

Andrés and Isabel had at least two daughters I can document:
1. Antonia who married my eighth grand uncle, Ignacio Díaz López de Tiscareño on 12 Dec 1707 in Ciénega de Mata, there record declares the following:

Br. Carlos de Andrade Sotomayor.

2. María de San Juan "Juana" married to Francisco Ponce de Briones of San Luis Potosí, their marriage record reads:

Ciénega de Mata, 12 de diciembre de 1707
Francisco Ponce, español, originario de San Luis Potosí, asistente en la Ciénega de Mata, de dos años a esta parte, hijo legítimo de Juan de Briones y Agustina Ponce con María San Juan, española, hija legítima de Andrés Martín y de Isabel Ramírez, ya difunta. Testigos: Antonio de Acosta y Tomás de la Fuente Padilla. Padrinos: Bartolomé Ballín y Bernarda Palomino. Br. D. Carlos de Sarmiento Sotomayor.

Andrés Martínez de Sotomayor would later marry (just discovered this record tonight) María Sarmiento de Palomino who most likely has ties to the same family Sarmiento y Palomino of Guanajuato and Michoacán (that's another story). The record states:

Br. D. Carlos de Andrade y Sotomayor.

Questions I have:

1. Who could the parents of this Andrés Martínez de Sotomayor be? Both marriage records ignores his parent's identity.
2. Is the padrino Luis Martín of Ignacio and Antonia's marriage a relative?
3. The padrino Andrés Martín de Sotomayor is obviously another Andrés and a contemporary, how is he related? Could it be his father?
4. Is Bachiller D. Carlos de Andrade y Sotomayor, who presided at all these marriages be a relative?
5. Could Elvira de Aldrete (whom I had no prior knowledge of) be a daughter or granddaughter of Diego de Aldrete, born in Torrelobotón, Valladolid, Castilla and patriarch of the Aldrete family and his wife Elvira de Padilla Delgadillo aka Elvira Delgadillo, residents of Teocaltiche?

There is also another of whom I descend, Andrés Martínez de Sotomayor married to Beatriz de Mayorga y López de Nava ca. 1675 and would have been residents of the Jalpa-Tabasco-Valle de Huejúcar (Calvillo) area. I discovered this couple through some marriages and various dispensas. Throwing pieces up in the air and trying to piece all the clues together. How do all these three Andrés Martínez de Sotomayor fit in the family tree?

Any help is appreciated!
