"Placed in Home of" "Pusto en casa de"

Hello, one of my ancestors, Vicente Richarte, is listed in his 14 Feb 1745 Aguascalientes marriage record to Ma. Josefa Ximenes as being of "padres no conocidos," but placed/puesto in the home of Melchor Richarte.

See:

https://www.familysearch.org/das/v2/3:1:S3HT-DTDQ-F6K/dist.jpg?ctx=CrxC…

Does this mean that there was likely no biological connection between the child and parent? Is the child in such cases usually an orphan or foundling? Or was this some way of bringing a "natural" biological son into a household?

--
Tengo antepasado, Vicente Richarte, de Aguascalientes quien fue de padres "no conocidos," pero quien fue puesto en la casa de Melchor Richarte. Indica esto que Vicente and Melchor no tenian ninguna relacion biologica?

Ancestry changes DNA ethnicity estimates

Ancestry recently changed the number of reference samples for ethnicity estimates from 3,000 to 16,0000, and as a result their estimates of a person’s ethnicity have become more refined.

In the case of my wife (who’s recent ancestors are all Mexican) and my (my recent ancestors are either from the British isles, or Austro-Hungarian Empire and Northern Germany) estimates, the changes make sense.

When you look at your results on Ancestry you can compare the two estimates, and you are given the option of accepting the revised results, if you wish.

Felipa Ramona Guadalaxara and Jose Montano Bernal from Aguascalientes

Greetings everyone: I am a new member of this group. My mother’s family is from Aguascalientes. I am trying to identify the parents of my fifth great-grandparents: Felipa Ramona Guadalaxara and Jose Montano Bernal from Aguascalientes. Felipa was likely born around 1760. I cannot find the couple’s marriage record. Their first child was Maria Regina Bernal, b. 1775. It looks like they lived at the Rancho of San Antonio de Buena Vista after Felipa married Jose Montano as their second child (Jose Ignes Guadalupe Montano Bernal b. 1778) was baptized there, and they were still residing there when Ma. Regina married in 1775. Any information or leads on finding their parents would be much appreciated.

Rancho de los Ocotes (San Miguel el Alto)

Hello! Just visited San Miguel el Alto a few weeks ago with hopes of visiting Rancho de los Ocotes -- where my Gutierrez line resided for @ 150 years prior to arriving in the US. However, when I asked around, the locals told me there were several locations in San Miguel el Alto named "Rancho de los Ocotes." Is this correct? Thank you for any information on this particular rancho. Roxanne

Gomez family from Jalpa

Hello everyone, my name is Arlene Samaniego and I am looking for help.

I am a Gomez via my maternal line and I am stuck on my mothers paternal line. I cannot seem to locate documents past my 3rd great grandfather Damien Gomez. My last known information is that they resided in Jalpa, Zacatecas and before that possibly Jalisco?

I believe that my Gomez line descended from the Gomez Portugal line due to Y DNA tests conducted by my paternal Great Uncle which connects them to Manuel Gomez de Portugal but we dont know via which male?

I just cant find documents prior to Damien and have hit a brick road. I have a possible father for him as Jose Luis Gomez and Juana Jimenes but nothing to corroborate this.

The following is what I have:

Damien Gomez (1820 - 1887) married to Maria Jesus Gutierres
3rd great-grandfather

Gregorio Gomez (1855 - 1914) married to Ramona Mojarro and Petra Viramontes
Son of Damien Gomez and my 2nd Great Grandfather

Jose Cruz Gomez de Viramontes (1890 - 1947) married Evarista Medina de Tiscareno
Son of Gregorio Gomez and my great grandfather

Benjamin Gomez de Medina (1922 - 1995)
Son of Jose Cruz Gomez Viramontes my grandfather

Maria Gloria Gomez Estrada (1956 - 2008)
My mother

Any insight from any of you would be appreciated!

De la Rosa Ortiz family

Hello,

I am looking for information on Jesús De la Rosa (b. ca 1830, d. 11/NOV/1890) and Timotea Ortiz (b. ca 1833, d. 3/NOV/1892) from Chalchihuites, they got married around 1850 (I haven't been able to find any records) and had at least 4 children: Margarito, María Bibiana, María Genoveva and Santiago.

I was able to find that Jesús' parents were Regino De la Rosa and Francisca Hinojosa (also listed as Ynojosa), however, I have not been able to find anything else. There are no baptismal records for their children, only marriages and death certificates.

Does anybody have further information on this family? I am interested in finding who Jesus' grandparents were and specially who were the parents of Timotea.

Regards,

Jaime

Josepha Romo Ruiz de Esparza 1689– BIRTH 04/20/1689 • Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, México

Hello, here is a birth record on the lower right of the site listed below for Josepha Romo Ruuz de Esparza the child of Francisco Romo and Lorenza Ruiz de Esparza. Has anyone come accross this daughter? Her birth year seems to put her parents age past sixty at the time of Josepha's birth. Josepha married Geronimo Rosales Garcia. I am a descendant of this line.

Saludos.

FRANCISCO CARRILLO aka DIEGO CARRILLO in Sierra de Pinos: CARRILLO DE SANDI?

Hola primos y primas,

My g6's are Francisco Carrillo and Maria Guadalupe Diaz de Leon, residents on Real de San Nicolas de los Angeles, in Pinos (and at times, in Asientos Ags). He also went by "Diego Carrillo," so I'm going to refer to him as "Francisco Diego Carrillo," to avoid confusion. They married 10 Aug 1728, Limpia Concepcion, Cienega de Mata, Ojuelos, Jal. According to their partida, they did their IM in both Cienega de Mata and in San Matias, Pinos, but I've been unable to find either: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-2G9D-N8?wc=3J6H-SP8

I've established that Maria Guadalupe Diaz was daughter of Joseph Diaz de Leon and Antonia Delgadillo, of Encinillas (see http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/20091), but I'm still brickwalled on Francisco Diego Carrillo. I thought I might present what I have on him, to see if any of you might be able to help me shake a brick or two loose. This is relevant to descendants of Andres Diaz de Leon-Duron and Maria Gertrudis Estefana Carrillo-Diaz, many of whose children would populate Montesa, Zacatecas.

Francisco Diego Carrillo was testigo on the 06 Feb 1723 IM for Cristobal Marquez and Maria Simona, in Pinos. Unfortunately, his age isn't given, nor does he sign his name. He says he had known the pretenso for about 10 years, who was originally from Aguascalientes. Incidentally, the next testigo on this IM is Francisco Xavier Carrillo, who I believe is the same who married Maria Candelaria de Rosas, residents on Salitre. The 2 Francisco's would cross paths, over the years, being padrinos for each other's children. Likely cousins, maybe even brothers:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939N-B39Q-5L?wc=3P91-DPF

When a testigo on the 26 Apr 1743 IM for Joseph Cayetano Diaz and Maria Quiteria Carrillo (daughter of Francisco Xavier Carrillo and Maria Candelaria), Francisco Diego Carrillo gives his age as 53 (b. 1690), and is given the name "Francisco CARRILLO BISAIS." He could not sign his name, so I'm unable to verify the second surname: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939N-B9WJ-Q?wc=3P91-SP8

When a testigo on the 27 Oct 1743 IM for Francisco Xavier de Lira and Juana Maria Quintanilla, Francisco Diego Carrillo is listed as "Francisco CARRILLO DE YSAIZ." He again gave his age as 53, and said he was originally from Teocaltiche, and had been living on Angeles for 30 years (ca 1713). Now we know where he was from, and when he moved to Angeles:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939N-B9WD-S?wc=3P91-SP8

By the way, the Notary in Pinos in 1743 was Andres Hilario de Baena (beautiful penmenship; detailed info, including occupation and spouses of some testigos), who did both of these IMs. We know scribes used phonetics, when transcribing, so this tells us that, either Andres Hilario was partially deaf, or, Francisco Diego Carrillo annunciated his name, very poorly! "Bisais"? Or "de Ysaiz"? "Bisais" is French, but could be "Vizaez" and variants of, though I think it's likely "de Isaiz," "de Isaias" or "de Isassi," all which I've seen, during my research in Los Altos (there HAS to be a Carrillo-Isassi union in this timeline, somewhere... anyone?).

In marriage records for their children, I've seen them listed with the surnames "CARRILLO LIZANDI" and "CARRILLO Y SANDI," which is obviously "Carrillo de Sandi" (could "Bisais: and "Ysaiz" be corruptions of "de Sandi,"??).
IM for Joseph Antonio Carrillo Lizandi and Maria Antonia Galban:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939N-BWGN-1?wc=3PS9-L29
Marriage of Jose Maria Lopez and Maria Guadalupe Carrillo (granddaughter, daughter of son, Antonio Carrillo, who is listed as Antonio Carrillo y Sandi) bottom left:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-J546-R?wc=3JHT-BZ9

Checking the baptism records, 1680-1695, in Teocaltiche, for "Francisco" or "Diego Carrillo," I have 2 candidates:

Diego (Español), son of Geronimo Carrillo and Maria Delgadillo (Lozano-Sandoval?), b. 17 Jun 1688. I believe Geronimo Carrillo was son of Diego Carrillo de Sandi and Maria Lopez de Rubalcava, which would give us "Sandi": https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:J93R-NYK

Francisco (Mestizo), son of Francisco Carrillo and Elena Diaz, b. 29 Jul 1687. Francisco Carrillo and Elena Diaz, who appear in the 1681 Teocaltiche Padron, were Mestizos, whereas Francisco Diego Carrillo is always "Español." I've seen several individuals, born Mestizo but categorized as Español, later in life, so I take that with a grain of salt. One thing leading me in their direction, is the fact that Francisco Diego Carrillo and Maria Guadalupe Diaz had a daughter named "Elena Josepha Carrillo," who could've been named for Elena Diaz - though, I've seen "Sandi" appearing in no record related to this family group: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NYHM-BV1

Villalpando Families from Asientos

I am working on the descendants of Tomas de Villalpando who was from Leon, Guanajuato, and his wife Maria Velez.

At least one of their sons, Tomas, moved to Aguascalientes and left many descendants in the towns of Aguascalientes and Asientos.

The are three marriages of Villalpandos that I am having trouble connecting:

Marcos de Villalpando, from Leon, married Micaela Diaz de Leon, in Asientos 20 Feb 1713 (Asientos marriages, 1705-17, image 37) [the Tomas de Villalpando who moved to Agascalientes had a brother named Marcos who married in Leon; there is no indication in this record that Marcos was a widower.]

Nicolas de Luebana and Juana de Villalpando, married 29 Dec 1713, in Asientos (Asientos marriages 1705-17, image 31)

Tomas de Villalpando and Maria Gentil Gallardo married 24 Mar 1711, in Asientos (Asientos marriages 1705-17, image 29)

Does anyone have information on the parents of these Villalpandos?

Padrones

Can someone direct me on where to find Mexican padrones. I see many posters talking about them, but I can't seem to find them at family search. I am looking for the padrones for the Nayarit area for the early Mexican republics as well as the Spanish colonial period. I think it's either Nueva Galicia or Nueva Vizcaya.

Thank you, primos!

Villapando Vielma Xaen Arias in Leon Guanajuato

Hi

For those of you researching any links between the surnames in the subject line, I found this baptism in the records from

Sagrario, Leon, Guanajuato:

Maria, dau of Nicolas Villalpando and Maria de Vielma

Padrinos: Francisco Xaen and Ynes Arias (his wife)

I came across it because I am looking for any link between the surnames Olar, Villalpando, and Aguila.

In Asientos, there is an Antonio de Aguila married to a Juana Olar, and I want to find out if Antonio has his roots in Leon.

The surname Olaes shows up in some records mentioned here in NR . Does anyone know if Olar is an alternate spelling of Olaes?

Medinilla de Alvarado Clues

While I was paging through some of the notary records from Guadalajra, I stumbled upon a couple of entries relating to the Medinilla de Alvarado family. I have kept an eye out for them because I believe at least two Medinillas left descendants in Los Altos (who are also my ancestors), however the relationship is still somewhat fuzzy. I think that these records give some clues and give me hope that there is a document out there still that might clear all this up. If anyone has stumbled on any other clues, please share!

First, what I found:

I have not had a chance to sit and read through the somewhat blurry and difficult script, so I would appreciate anything someone might be able to add to my quick summaries.

Negotiation between Hernando de Alvarado and Jose de Medinilla Alvarado (hijo natural of Pedro de Medinilla Alvarado, difunto brother of Hernando) over property currently held by Dona Beatriz de Medinilla Alvarado (hija legitima).

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSDL-69LN-T?i=252&cat=…

A similar negotiation between Hernando, Beatriz, and Magdalena de Medinilla Alvarado (another illegitimate child of Pedro de Medinilla).

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSDL-69LF-C?i=302&cat=…

Lastly, further discussion of some houses in Guadalajara inherited by Beatriz de Medinilla Alvarado (who had now died without a will) which Jose de Medinilla Alvarado (sobrino of Hernando de Alvarado) and Dona Isabel de Medinilla Alvarado (heiress of Hernando de Alvarado) intend to split.

This is not confirmed, but I believe this Pedro de Medinilla Alvarado was an Alcalde Ordinario of Guadalajara and a son of Pedro de Medinilla and Isabel de Alvarado. This would also make sense given that Pedro and Isabel had a son named Hernando de Medinilla Alvarado (bapt. 9 Mar 1541 https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939Z-RHVJ-4 ) who could be the Hernando de Alvarado mentioned in the notary records. If that is the case then it provides some evidence that the Pedro de Medinilla Alvarado in Guadalajara had children.

Here is how I think they connect to Los Altos families:

The first connection would be through Maria de Medinilla married to Juan Yanez del Monte, residents of Nochistlan and the ancestors of a large family (including Aramburu / Arambula, Ponce de Leon, etc. This Maria may be a granddaughter or daughter of the Pedro de Medinilla Alvarado who lived in Guadalajara.

The other possible connection is through the Vanegas de Torres. The Vanegas families of Jalostotitlan, San Juan de los Lagos, Tepatitlan, and Ayo el Chico seem to be descended from the 4 illegitimate children of Jose Vanegas de Torres cc Catalina del Castillo Villasenor. His wife's death record (3 Sep 1694 in Tepatitlan) lists Jose's children however neither his marriage ( https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-5V3S?i=1231&wc=3NTX-HZ… ) nor his death (28 May 1692 in Tepatitlan) give his parents names. His marriage lists him as a resident of Juanacatlan.

I believe that Jose is likely the son of Andres Vanegas de Torres, a prominent resident of Guadalajara listed as a receptor, and Isabel de Medinilla. Andres and Isabel had a number of children baptized in Guadalajara. Andres's father was another Andres Vanegas de Torres, native of Granada, who was a corregidor, alcalde mayor, and escribano who I believe baptized a number of children with a Juana Baptista in Guadalajara in the early 1600's.

It is possible that the Isabel de Medinilla Alvarado mentioned in one of the notary records above is the same as the Isabel de Medinilla who married Andres Vanegas de Torres.

There is still a lot missing here. I would love to hear what you all think and whether you have come across any other pieces to this puzzle!

AYUDA WITH ROMO AND FEMAT ANCESTORS

Dear fellow genealogists (amateur or professional). My name is Bernardo Menchaca from Monterrey (now living in Monclova, Coahuila) and am researching my Romo ancestors. I’m relatively new to the Nuestros Ranchos community and hadn’t troubled you with requests until I had something to offer (or so I think).

Let me give you first some background information on what I know, them something of what I infer and have some doubts with, and lastly what I ask of you.

I. WHAT I KNOW:

I.1 INFORMACIÓN MATRIMONIAL OF RAFAEL FEMATE AND JUANA MARÍA LÓPEZ
Dated 3/Sept/1801, Ojocaliente, Zacatecas
His parents were Ygnacio Femate and Ma. Antonia Velasco
He was 35 years old and was born in Rincón de Romos
She was 27 years old and was born in El Venado
Her parents were Gerónimo López and María Ylaria Zapata
He had lived for 16 years in the city of Zacatecas
After that, and for the last three years he was a resident of the
Ojocaliente community in the Posts (puestos) of Asulaque?, Blanca and Vajío
He was a widower (en segundas nupcias) of Joaquina de Salas (who was buried
in Zacatecas)

I.2 BAPTISMAL INFORMATION FOR LEONARDO ROMO LOPEZ
Dated 10/Nov/1802, Salinas, San Luis Potosí
Was born in Charquito Colorado ¿?
His parents were José Rafael Romo and Juana María López
His paternal grandparents were (in error) José Romo and María Manuela
His maternal grandparents were Gerónimo López and María Ylaria Sapata (the
same parents as above in the Información Matrimonial of Rafael Femate and
Juana María López)

I.3 BURIAL INFORMATION FOR JUANA MARÍA LÓPEZ
Dated 14/Jan/1803, Salinas, San Luis Potosí
She was the wife of Rafael Romo de Vivar
She was originally from Ojocaliente

I.4 INFORMACIÓN MATRIMONIAL FOR RAFAEL ROMO AND MARÍA URBANA LIRA
Dated 9/Apr/1803, Salinas, San Lus Potosí
He was 32 years old (changed his age) and was from Rincón de Romos
Had been raised in La Veta (doesn’t mention Zacatecas) and was a resident
of Ramos and La Palma Pegada
His parents were Ygnacio Romo and Antonia Velasco

I.5 BAPTISMAL INFORMATION FOR THREE CHILDREN OF RAFAEL ROMO AND MARÍA URBANA
LIRA
Two mention the paternal grandfather as Ygnacio Romo and one as Antonio
Romo (could really be Ygnacio Antonio)
One mentions the maternal grandmother as María Antonia Velasco, one as
Antonia Belasquez and the other as Manuela Belasco

I.6 OTHER INFORMATION
They spent some time in Saltillo, Coahuila were they baptized one or
probably two daughters, ca. 1812
By 1816 they were residents of San Buenaventura, Coahuila were they had at
least 5 more children

II. WHAT I INFER, SUPPOSE AND HAVE DOUBTS WITH:

II.1 Rafael Femate and Rafael Romo are one and the same person, changing his
last name for the one of his paternal grandmother (see below)

II.2 I haven’t been able to find his baptismal registry

II.3 I haven’t found the marriage record for Ygnacio Femat and María Antonia
Velasco

II.4 From pedigree information in familysearch.org I have that a boy baptized on
12/July/1731 in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes was given the name Ygnacio
Antonio Eugenio Femat and his parents were Antonio Fermín Phemate and
Mónica Vibar. The Información Matrimonial for Fermín Antonio Femat and
Mónica Romo de Vivar (dated 17/Oct/1715 in Aguascalientes) states that his
parents were Fermín Antonio Femat and Bárbara González Aguirre and her
parents were Capitán Nicolás Romo de Vivar (deceased) and María Martínez de
Villalobos (according to his signed petition) or María de Villalobos
(according to her statement)
It could be a case of homonymy but my guess is that this is the Ygnacio
Femat I’m looking for, although I can’t be sure. There were apparently very
few Femat’s at the time.

III. WHAT I ASK OF YOU

III.1 HELP!!!!

III.2 Seriously now, if you have information on Rafael Femate’s baptism or
previous marriages or on the marriage of Ygnacio Femat and Antonia Velasco
I would be very thankful if you could share it with me

Thank you in advance for your help.

Bernardo Menchaca Falcón
