Queridos compañeros y paisanos. Alguien tendrá información acerca de Felipe Díaz de Lomas?
En mi investigación tengo que se caso el 15 de febrero de 1705 en la Villa de Aguas Calientes, caso con Josefa de Medina posiblemente hija de Cristóbal de Medina y de María de Ávila, así como Felipe como posible hijo de Antonio o Diego Díaz de Lomas, aunque no he encontrado un enlace directo con ellos, porque no hay información matrimonial de dicho matrimonio en los registros parroquiales, por eso pido ayuda en este foro por si alguien tendrá información adicional que me pueda ayudar a vincular a Felipe y a Josefa con dichas familias. Hi, I'm Mayra and I've only recently (about a month or so) started doing genealogy research. I've found this fascinating and I've really enjoyed discovering my family's history. My mom sometimes jokes about how I'm finding secrets they thought would never be found. So far, my researched has focused on my mother's side of the family. It seems that a lot of distant relatives are working on it so our research has crossed and a lot of information is already easily accessible on familysearch.com. However, I would like to build my fathers side too.

On my father's side, I had to start from scratch but I've make a lot of progress. I found most of the information I needed through research on ancestry.com. However it seems I have come to a brick wall. My mom always told me they descended from a tribe native to that region of Jalisco. I'm not sure if that is going to make it more difficult to find what I'm looking for since I'm not sure how well documented that would be.

On my mother's side I'm still interested in finding more on the Alvarez line leading overseas. I've already found that the Munguia line (my great grandmother [on my grandfather's side] maternal side) leads to Italy. I'm working on my maternal grandmothers line as well. I've come to a dead end there too. It seems there were some last name changes and that may prove to cause some difficulty in my research.

Paternal Family Line: Beltran

1. Victor Santiago Beltran Aguilar, son of Rosalio Beltran(1910-1979) and Guadalupe Aguilar (1913 -??). They were married in Tapalpa, Jalisco in 1929. I'm assuming they were both born in Tapalpa and then moved to Ciudad Guzman after their marriage.

2. Rosalio Beltran Cardenas, son of Jose Beltran and Paula Cardenas. I have been unable to find anything past them on that line.

Paternal line: Garcia

1. Higineo Garcia (1892 - 1967), son of Nicomedes Garcia and Justa Baltazar. He was born in Ciudad Guzman, Jalisco. His wife Juana Garcia (1894-1960).

2. Nicomedes Garcia (1857 - ??), son of Jorge Garcia and Sebastiana Garcia. I don't know why, but I feel like this side would lead to the tribe my mom mentioned.

I have more research on some of the other branches but this is where some of my walls are currently found and where I would like to expand.

I've done a lot of work on my mother's side of the family, but I have been unable to trace the Alvarez line past the late 1700s. For some odd reason there was a last name change and some ended up using Arreguin while others used Alvarez. I'm not quite sure which was the original.

Maternal line: Alvarez

Santos Alvarez (born around 1770-1817) married Maria Arias. He also had another wife named Angela Torres (born around 1775). I'm not sure if he was indeed married to both, if he became widowed or what happened. His death record does mention Angela Torres as widow. I have not found marriage records. I'd really like to expand on this side.

1. Santos Alvarez (or Arreguin) and Maria Arias had Joaquin Alvarez (or Arreguin) Arias(1790), Manuel Alvarez (or Arreguin) Arias (1804-1880), and Ramon Alvarez (or Arreguin) Arias.

2. Santos Alvarez (or Arreguin) and Angela Torres had Francisco Alvarez (or Arreguin) Torres (1805-1887) and Maria Dolores Alvarez (or Arreguin) Torres (1810-1876).

My name is Jesse Castaneda and I live in Houston, Texas. I'm new genealogy but I find that I really enjoy the work of discovering my family's history. Now, while I've done a lot of work on my father's side of the family, it's my
mother's side that is going to prove to be the greatest challenge.

At this point, I ONLY know my grandmother and my great grandmother's name. I can't prove anything else. This is my mystery to solve: WHO WAS MY GRANDMOTHER AND WHERE DID SHE COME FROM? She said she come from Monterrey, but that's all I know.

This may not be the appropriate forum to discuss Monterrey descendants but, you never know.

I'll post more on this later, but in the meantime, I'm just happy to be on this forum and I look forward to helping any of you in any way that I can.

Hi, I’m looking for a file of a census taken in 1861 to establish a new municipal of Degollado, Jalisco. A historian from Degollado wrote me this. “El censo de 1861, lo hizo don Jose Maria Navarro, primera autoridad civil, ( mas no presidente) por ordenes del gobernador con el fin de saber si se contaba con la cantidad de habitante para poder nombrarlo Municipio, faltaron como 200 para ello, sin embargo se logro el objetivo, y esto sale de los archivos del Congreso del estado de jalisco.”
Would family search have these archives? Does anyone know where I can look for this? I found this website http://congresoweb.congresojal.gob.mx/bibliotecavirtual/ but can’t find anything on this.

I've been doing some research on my Hernandez (paternal) bloodline. I've come across records for siblings to my GGrandfather that were baptized in Arandas, born in "El Posito". Is/was this a Rancho?

My GGrandfather was born in Piedras Blancas, so how far is/was "El Posito" from there?

I have traced my La Riva line to Tomas Jaquez who married in San Juan Del RIo, Durango in 1689. The marriage record stated he was from Somberette, Zacatecas. I guess he was he was born about 1660. I can't find church records for that period in Somberette. I suspect the family was French. I am looking for any information for the early colonial Somberette. I would like the names of several books just on Somberette. I know about the mines but outside of the Toolosa and Ybarra familes I do not know about other families living there. I know by looking at some immigration records, some Jacquez came from Flanders. If anyone can give me any clues or suggestions I would most appreciate it.

    Within the last 2-3 months, someone posted a message which included the address of a Mexican governmental website that has online historical maps of various parts of Mexico.  I can't find that site, and, as I recall, when I did visit it, I couldn't find the maps I was looking for.  Specifically, I'm looking for the hacienda/rancho maps of northeast Jalisco near Encarnacion de Diaz, the ranchos southwest of Jerez, Zacatecas, and the rural areas around Durango, Durango.

Can someone please direct me in the right direction?

It does not include Zamora, Chilchota, Tangancicuaro, Tlazazalca and other towns that did exist.

Can anyone share with me the link to the rest of the marriage dispensations in Michoacan.

My maternal ancestors lived in Chilchota, Tangancicuaro, Angamacutiro and Zamora and I have marriage information, marriage, baptism and death but no marriage dispensations.
It is of particular interest to me since my MTDNA goes to Michoacan and I found a marriage information record that called for a dispensation and that record could take me back another generation.

Any help appreciated.

Many of my husbands ancestors were born and most likely died in Calvillo. I doubt that I will be able to visit in my lifetime. Are there any records or information on all burials in the cemetery? Cemeteries entered into findagrave.com only have 1 entry per cemetery. I would love to add records to them so that others can find their ancestors as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

María de la Concepción Escoto hija de Fabián Escoto (hijo de Joseph Escoto) y Magdalena Baldes.

Joseph Manuel Escoto, hijo de Marcos Escoto (hijo de Juan Escoto) y Maria Banegas.

En la dispenza (1746) dice que el tronco eran Ygnacio Escoto y Ynes Ramírez (padres de Juan y Joseph) pero no he encontrado casi nada sobre ellos.

I hope I can get your opinion on the research I have done and have. I am not 100% sure or convinced the ancestors I have on my family tree are correct after my 2xGP (Buenaventura). I don’t want to waste my time searching if it not correct. I have been working on this for a year now but the reason I am not convince is because I cannot find the baptism registration on my 2x GF. I have searched different municipal church records page by page for it and can’t find it anywhere. Let me tell you why it’s so important.

My paternal grandfather Leon Hernandez Torres was only 6 months when his father was killed Dec 24th 1917 in Degollado, Jalisco, and the town was under siege by the bandit leader J. Ines Garcia Chavez and his men. His parents were not married, his mother abandoned my grandfather and he was raised by his paternal grandmother. Last record was 1930 census. His mother moved to either Yurecuaro or La Piedad, Michoacan. She worked at “una casa de citas” and my grandfather’s uncle went looking for her but refused to come back. I found records of her she died in Guadalajara in 1928 and she remarried. My grandfather lived a very sad life and it really hurt him that he didn’t have parents. He didn’t even know his mother’s last name. He was a very quiet man and I didn’t know him well.

Guadalupe Martinez but on the marriage document her parents names are different.

There is a marriage dispensation requested on 25 Sept. 1739 in Zapotlan, Jalisco. Don Carlos Mungia from Tinquindin, living in Tamazula many years, over 43 years. He is a widower of Dona Maria Gertrudis Maciel buried in San Juan Periban. Married
Dona Theresa Coria y Peralta from Tamazula, she was 22 years old. Her parents are Don Antonio Coria and Dona Antonia de Villasenor. Marriage dispensation in 4th degree. Don Carlos's mother was Maria Mollinedo Villasenor.

My research is starting by centering in the Cienega de Mata and Ojuelos de Jalisco area and probably Aguascalientes as well, looking for Durán and Muñoz surnames, I'm still new to this. Before finding "Nuestros Ranchos," I began my search after finding a written copy of my grandfather's birth record dated July 1877, at "Hacienda Cienega de Mata. Recently found grandfather's parents marriage cert. from May 1868, Ledesma Ojuelos de Jalisco on My Heritage site. Can't find much else in this areaof Jalisco thus far, don't want to encroach on anyone's research, but can anyone point me where/which direction to go from here?

Does anyone have any information regarding the Hernandez family from Saucito [Jalisco] near San Miguel el Alto and Santa Maria del Valle? I have used the search, and found results from Steven Hernandez, but I'm not sure how active he is these days.

It seems that I am stuck trying to find records for my GGG-Grandfather. He was Leonardo Hernandes(z) married to Dionicia Rodrigues(z). My GG-Grandfather, Mateo (Leonardo's son) was born around 1831. So I can guess Leonardo was born in the late 1700's to early 1800's. During this time, was Leonardo more of a middle name? I've come across many Jose Leonardo records. The records he is listed in, list him as Leon/Leonardo, not Jose Leonardo, however.

If any one has information about this family, I would greatly appreciate any insight you can share.

Hi all,

I found the word amosia on a death certificate. It states that he is survived by his esposa, followed by her name. Then, it states y su amosia followed by another woman's name. I tried to look up the definition. But was unsuccessful. Has anyone else encountered this word before? Also listed as a survivor is his daughter.

Hi, I’m going through baptism records, searching for ancestors and ran Into this one and have seen others with “expuesto en casa de..”, what does expuesto mean? I used translate but does not make sense. Does it mean the child was abandoned at this persons house or can this be his illegitimate child ? This one caught my attention because I have Hernandez Gamiño in my family tree.

My name is Stephanie Sexton and I am originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico. I am currently researching my Dad's family surname of Angel de Ocana. The first person in this family appears in Santa Fe, New Mexico purchasing property in 1738, then, family in a Church Census in 1750 and marriages for five children in the same city. Information I can deduce from the above records: Francisco Xavier Angel, (born about 1704) spouse: Maria Ramirez (born 1704 to 1710). It is thought the families of Angel de Ocana came with settlers from Mexico City or Zacatecas with or after the reentry into Santa Fe, New Mexico of the Spaniards and Diego de Vargas in 1693. I can find no records for parents for Francisco Xavier Angel. He may have had a brother or cousin who gave the name of Marcial Angel de Cana. Francisco Xavier was married to a Maria Ramirez. Santiago Ramirez gives himself as a brother in law to Francisco Xavier and was married to Maria Luisa (Petrona/Petra) Leyva. Marcial was married to Maria de la Candelaria Ramirez, a daughter of Santiago Ramirez about 1750 in Santa Fe, NM. I can find no records for parents for Ramirez or Leyva.

My thought is, perhaps, records or family genealogies for these families exist in Zacatecas or the surrounding areas. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you
