Tengo una duda, hace tiempo publiqué un tema de foro con respecto a los Araiza y Medina, Daniel Méndez muy amablemente me proporciono unos datos y me comentó que María de Isla o Lozano era hija del regidor de Zacatecas, ¿Alguien sabe el nombre de este regidor y de su esposa?

Otra pregunta más aprovechando la ocasión, ¿Me podría alguien por favor proporcionar los nombres de los padres o la ascendencia de Juan de Aguilar y Solórzano, padre de Pedro de Aguilar y Solórzano, esposo de Gertrudis de Araiza, hija de María de Isla?

Jose Alex, c. 26 Jul 1789
Maria Antonia Dorotea, c. 9 Feb 1793

Does anyone know who the parents of Cayetano and Maria Josefa were?

I am in the process of researching baptism records on Ancestry from the Asuncion de Maria Catholic church in Aguascalientes.

Several signatures keep reoccurring on multiple records and I am wondering if these individuals are the priests conducting the baptism or possibly local government officials or witnesses. Names are repeated in the text, on the left margin and at the bottom of each record.

Specifically, what appears to be the name "Francisco Narvaes" on the attached record would be the surname of my mother's ancestors. Is this the signature of the attending priest or is it the the name of some other official? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I have an ancestor name Antonio Madera that was residing in Minillas near Mezquitic, Jalisco and Monte Escobedo, Zacatecas.

I am quite sure he passed away in 1709 by circumstantial data where in 1708 he referenced in a baptismo record of being alive and in 1710 again he was referenced in a baptismo record of being defunto where that has me assuming he passed away in 1709 but there are no records of that year in the familysearch.org website.

Does anyone have access to defunto records of 1709 give plus/minus 2 years around that? He was married to Maria Candelaria Angon who passed away in 1735 and her defunto record is in Monte Escobedo, Zacatecas.

I am also wondering that since the "Real Audencia" Government of Guadalajara, Jalisco and the Obispo of Catholic Archdiocese of Guadalajara, Jalisco had jurisdiccion of the provinces of "Nueva Galicia (Zacatecas, Jalisco, Aguascalientes), Durango, Nayarit, Coahuila, Los Californias, Texas during that time period, might contain the base of all records?

But after Mexican Independence from Spain and the Government Authority shifted to Mexico City as the Central Authority of all the provinces had the records from the colonial era that were archived in Guadalajara moved to Mexico City????

I've been trying to research and find out more information about a great uncle who was born in Cocula, Jalisco, México and passed in Guadalajara, Jalisco, México. He was a priest based on his death record. Does anyone have any suggestion on how I would be able to find out which parish he was associated with? Or how I can find out more information about him?

Does anyone have this Hernando Flores de la Torres linked up to the main branch of the family?

I have a Hernando Flores de la Torre married to Gertrud's de Ornelas baptizing the following children all in Teocaltiche:

6. Catalina - 14 Sep 1689

In my notes, I have Gertrudes Ornelas as a possible daughter of Gerónimo de Ornelas y Mendoza and his wife María Rubio.

I have an Andrés Martínez de Sotomayor married to Isabel Ramírez de los Hinojos on 27 Dec 1683 in Aguascalientes. Isabel is the daughter of my ninth great granduncle, Juan Alonso de los Hinojos and his wife Isabel Ramírez. Textually, the marriage records literally states:

27 de diciembre de 1683 - Hacienda del Tíguere
Andrés Martín vesino de la jurisdicción de la villa de Lagos haviendo presentado la licentia por escrito de su paroco con Isabel Ramírez vesina de esta jurisdicción hija lexítima de Juan Alonso de los Hinojos ya difunto y Ysabel Ramírez. Testigos Nicolás Macías, don Gonzalo de Villaseñor y Miguel Días.

Andrés and Isabel had at least two daughters I can document:
1. Antonia who married my eighth grand uncle, Ignacio Díaz López de Tiscareño on 12 Dec 1707 in Ciénega de Mata, there record declares the following:

Ignacio Díaz López, español, originario de la villa de Aguascalientes, hijo legítimo de Joseph Díaz y Xacinta de Ortega, españoles con Antonia Martínez, hija legítima de Andrés Martín y de Isabel Ramírez, españoles, ya difunta y no los velé por pasar mucho tiempo. Andrés Martínez de Sotomayor would later marry (just discovered this record tonight) María Sarmiento de Palomino who most likely has ties to the same family Sarmiento y Palomino of Guanajuato and Michoacán (that's another story). The record states:

Andrés Martín, español, vecino de la Ciénega de Mata, viudo de Isabel Ramírez, con María Sarmiento y Palomino, originaria de la villa de Santa María de los Lagos y vecina de la Hacienda de la Ciénega de Mata, de un año, a esta parte. Questions I have:

1. Who could the parents of this Andrés Martínez de Sotomayor be? Both marriage records ignores his parent's identity.
2. Is the padrino Luis Martín of Ignacio and Antonia's marriage a relative?
3. The padrino Andrés Martín de Sotomayor is obviously another Andrés and a contemporary, how is he related? Could it be his father?
4. Is Bachiller D. Carlos de Andrade y Sotomayor, who presided at all these marriages be a relative?
5. Could Elvira de Aldrete (whom I had no prior knowledge of) be a daughter or granddaughter of Diego de Aldrete, born in Torrelobotón, Valladolid, Castilla and patriarch of the Aldrete family and his wife Elvira de Padilla Delgadillo aka Elvira Delgadillo, residents of Teocaltiche?

There is also another of whom I descend, Andrés Martínez de Sotomayor married to Beatriz de Mayorga y López de Nava ca. 1675 and would have been residents of the Jalpa-Tabasco-Valle de Huejúcar (Calvillo) area. I discovered this couple through some marriages and various dispensas. Throwing pieces up in the air and trying to piece all the clues together. How do all these three Andrés Martínez de Sotomayor fit in the family tree?

While going through the Procesos del Santo Oficio de Mexico, 1522-1820, I found several limpiezas de sangre for descendants of the Comendador D Leonel Cervantes cc Da Leonor de Andrada, and of their son-in-law, D Juan de Cervantes Casaus. I do not descend from these families (that I yet know of), so I know very little about them. But I thought I might share these here, since I know many of you do, and they’re a super useful resource.

The Inquisicion archives are not all criminal cases: limpiezas were required whenever a person was named to certain posts, be it royal or ecclesiastical. For generations, these same families maintained posts throughout Nueva España, so there are several limpiezas.

These are my rough notes; I haven’t read through all of these folders, and in some cases, I saved it because of the surnames, “Cervantes” & “Andrada.” That said, my knowledge of the contents, and of these families in general, is very limited, and I’m afraid I can answer no questions in regards. Instead, please feel free to use this thread for open discussion, and to share any discoveries you make with these links.

Addition notes:
- I only research records from the 16th & early-17th centuries, so there will be more, in later centuries, if you want to continue looking. The archives are very well-indexed, which can be found on the first 3 rolls.
- Though some of these do reach back to Spain, I don’t think they reveal any earlier ancestors, but they will help unravel the tangle of various lines who descend from these couples, and the families they intermarried with, since wives’ limpiezas are usually included.
- I try to include links to the index and to the original document. In some cases, it might be one or the other.

Hello, I am searching for the line of Felipe Arriaga who was married to Regina Cervantes - also listed as Sandoval - from Villanueva, Zacatecas. My grandmother Ynocencia Arriaga is from this line - her father Narciso Arriaga, his father Eugenio Arriaga, his father Sostenes Arriaga, his father Felipe. Sostenes was married to Francisca de los Santos and Eugenio was married to Dorotea Mercado. Is anyone also from this line?

maria antonia velos in family search and or ancestry.com who is married to rafael martinez is my 5th great grandparents. maria antonia velos comes from a area known as grangenos, mexico in 1804. parents from what i had found so far happens to be victor velos or vela and maria guadalupe cordero. parents of victor velos was known to be as nazario velos and dorotea garcia? any areas i should be looking for? so far it is a dead end

I am working on my Camarena line and I am stuck at Domingo Camarena and Maria Gonzalez. I read that the Camarenas appear in the 1650 padron for Jalostotitlán. I found other padrones for Jalostotitlán, but not the one for the year 1650.

Does anyone know where I can find it or where I can find other records or clues to continue my Camarena line?

Any assistance given would be very much appreciated.

This doc has a tree for Monica Romo de Vivar and two of her sons and their sons and their son/daughter (who wish to marry). One son of Monica has the name Fermin Femá and the other is given as Pedro Romo de Vivar.

been actively online again searching for jose simon martinez and his wife maria rosalia delgadillo. he was born roughly about 1760 mexico and she also was born about 1765 . their 8childrens name has been found in baptisms through family search . havent found no marriage record or anything pertaining to them yet other than they were at their childrens marriages or whatever. i would like to know who their parents are and where they may have died at. some of their childrens names were jose demasio , maria mauricia etc and were born near san agustin, villa de arriaga, san potosi, mexico

Recientemente acabo de localizar el testamento y fundacion de capellania de Esteban de Anda-Altamirano. Dicho documento contradice lo que escribio el genealogista Mariano Gonzalez-Leal en la obra de Retonos de Nueva Galicia. Mariano Gonzalez-Leal estipulo que Esteban Anda-Altamirano casado con Mariana de Araujo era hijo de Esteban Anda de Altamirano y Catalina Lopez de Portugal. El testamento y fundacion de capellania localizada prueba que Esteban Anda- Altamirano era en realidad hijo de Juan de Anda-Altamirano y Juana Ruiz de Nava.

These two are my 8th great-grandparents, from Nochistlan. Approximate DOB for Juan is 1705 and for Victoria is 1708. I don't know where they were born but I know they were married in Nochistlan on 25 Oct 1726.
Victoria was Juan's 2nd wife. His first wife was Juana Manuela Lupercio Lerman, who was born 1705 in La Laja, Jalisco and died by 25 Oct 1726.
By 1705, Juan was living in Cerrito Colorado, Jalisco.
My research is at a logjam and would love some additional information.

Hello. I'm trying to trace my lineage to Lope de ruiz esparza. I started in Guadalajara where my dad is from, to Cocula, to Amatlan in Nayarit. I've been stuck there for quite some time now becuase the church records have what looks like water damage. I fear that the information I need is in one of the illegible pages. I'm wondering if anyone might have any information that can help me connect from Lope to My 6XGrandfaher. His name is Onofre Joseph Barbosa Y Esparza born around 1720 (can't find birth record, and not sure if he was even born in Amatlan), married to Catharina Banegas . His son is Gregorio Antonio Barbosa Esparza born around 1740 (can't find birth record), Married to Marianna Lopez (sometimes Maria Anna) in July of 1758. If anyone has any connection, or any tips on how else I can find records. I really want to keep going, but this wall I've hit is hard to break through. Thank you in advance.

Can anyone provide assistance in transcribing a marriage record? It is a marriage parish record from the 1700's in Valle de Rosario, Chihuahua Mexico. I can figure out part of this record but there is a section with writing that I can't figure out. I need to see whether the groom Thomas de Ochoa has another surname or identifier written in the area of the parish record that is a little faded out. It looks like the word 'Espanol" but I can't be sure. One of the witnesses "Joseph" might share the Ochoa surname but I just can't tell.

done nationally at the same time like a census.

In a previous post, I asked the question of how much interest existed for indexed information from the Obispado de Michoacan records. Given the replies offline, there is interest. While I was not aware that Katy Albrect was already thinking of doing the same... I had already gone ahead (A couple of weeks ago) and have a website and some records already indexed. For the time being and until I figure out how I can collaborate with Katy on this, you can view the indexed records I have here:

It has a whopping total of 4 1/2 (almost finished with the fifth) indexed films. It's a humble start, but, as we figure out how to collaborate, I hope it will grow in one way or another. There are over a 1000 films to index! The task will take more than any one person to get through.

In the first batch of indexes, I already see records for Ocotlan, Poncitlan, and La Barca, that I hope will be useful to this group, along with the other info for families that originated in Michoacan, Guanajuato, and San Luis Potosi.

The Real Audencia Government of Guadalajara, Nueva Espana (Jalisco, Mexico) had political jurisdiccion over several provinces during Nueva Espana days.

Where can those documents be found? Is it the library of Juan Jose Arreola?
