Introduction (Lino Martin) and Research Request

Hello,

My name is Lino Martin. I am the 12 descendent of Blas Martin del Campo tracing back to 1520 from Spain. I follow the lineage of Bartolome Martin del Campo who is the 1st to Nueva Galicia with two borthers. Bartolome settled in San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco.

Of further interest, both my father and mother are descendents of Blas, 1st connecting with Manuel Martin del Campo, born in 1765. My mother's great-great grandfather and my father's grandfather were brothers. They say I turned out normal!

If that were not coincidence enough, my mother's mother is also a Martin. Her mother's grandfather is Rafael Martin, married to Maria de la Cruz Barba Franco from La Jolla, Jalisco. Well, it's a small world!

I am unable to trace Rafael back to his connection with Blas. I have posted a file with my findings. Any help connecting Rafael would be appreciated.

By the way, the existing files, emails and other content members have posted have been of great help filling in holes. I have many primos among you! Thank-you to all that have taken the time to contribute.

Real de Pinos

Well, after many years of searching I finally found a record that listed the names of great great grandparents. I am thrilled beyond and beyond.. :) It seems my great grandparents got married in church in 1949 and in Runge, Texas the marriage register lists their date and place of baptism for both my great grandfather and great grandmother. It states that Pilar Valdez was baptized in 1899 at San Miguel Mesquitic, mexico and Romana Tobar was baptized in 1889 Real de Pino, Zacatecas, Mexico. Her parents were Victor Tovar and Maria Guerrero. My problem now is trying to find those records. I have gone through the Zacatecas records in Family Search and found the town of Pino, but not the parish Real de Pino. Can someone tell me if I am even looking in the right place or where I could find this parish? Thanks in advance.

Abalos/Hermosillo--Jesus Jimenez

t turns out that I am looking for my ancestors Contreras, I reach a point where I no longer find information, I just realized that there are no records in Calvillo's FamilySearch before 1770, I found because before that date the parish to which they belonged The one of Tabasco Zacatecas, but now both Calvillo and tabasco have another name, Calvillo was Valley of Huejucar and Tabasco was Valley of REfugio the Mecatabasco.

And continues to complicate also there are records in TEocaltiche of the same Family, so from Tabasco there are only from 1750 onwards approximately.

The question is how to search, with what name and in what state, since Teocaltiche is JAlisco, Tabasco is Zacateca and Calvillo is Aguascalientes.

Saucedo's from Teocaltiche and Calvillo

Daniel

My cousin and research partner, Dave has Saucedo's from Teocaltiche:

Juan Zacarias Saucedo was baptized in Teocaltiche on the 16th of June 1721. … Juan, the legitimate son of Xptoval Sausedo and of Feliciana de Udabe. The godparents were Isidro de Udabe and Maria de La Serda and all are mestissos… The godparents Isidro de Udave and Maria de La Serda are Juan Zacarias’s maternal grandparents.

Some of the Saucedo's moved to Calvillo.

El Salto de Los Trexos and the surname "Si"

I have ancestors with the last name "Si" also attached to the last name of Trexo (Trejo} from El Salto de Los Trexos, Tlaltenango Sanchez Roman.

Two questions:

1) Is the last name "Si" Chinese? This surname first appears attached to Jose Tomas Trejo Si, born in 1807, whose parents were Jose Antonio Crecencio Trejo Robles and Juana Maria Si.

2) Was there a large ranch whose name was El Salto de Los Trexos within the Tlaltenango?

De La Paz y Cortez

I have the marriage records of another pair of brothers married to another pair of sisters. The sisters are Catharina De la Paz y Cortez and Francisca De la Paz y Cortez. The brothers are Manuel Antonio Perez Franco de Paredes and Joseph Joachin Perez Franco de Paredes.

Manuel Antonio Perez Franco married Catharina de La Paz y Cortez, and Joseph Joachin Perez Franco married Francisca De La Paz y Cortez.

Both couples married on the same day, on the fifth of June in 1737. The brides are the daughters of Antonio De La Paz y Cortez and Antonia Frias de Ybarra.

The brother's father's surname is Perez Franco but I am unsure of the first name. Their mother is Gertrudis de Hermosillo.

Here is the link to the marriage records: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-XYQT?mode=g&i=380&wc=3J4P-…

I believe that Antonio de La Paz y Cortez descends from the Geronima Benavides/Cortez and Paez (Paz) lines.

The brothers and the sisters are related through "tercer con quarto grado " so there should be a dispensation for both marriages.

Alonso Perez Torillo's parents?

Happy Morther's Day!

Many people have the parents of Alonso Perez Toriello as Andres Perez and Maria Torillo. Many years ago, Jaime Holcombe gave different information in his submissions. He gave two siblings to Alonso, along with the different sets of parents. I was confused by Jaime Holcombe's submission, as he was the only one in the family with the Peres Toriello surname. After much research I discovered that the father that Jaime Holcombe said was Alonso's father had Portuguese ancestors with the surname Perestoriello, which had many explorers and sailors in the family. A few generations before Portugal, they resided in Italy, and the surname was Pallestrelli. Jaime Holcombe had not known about the father's ancestor's Perestrello connection. Was it just a coincidence, or was Jaime Holcombe correct in this case?

Until I see the evidence, I will not have parents listed for Alonso Perez Toriello, and have notes showing that there are two lines of thought as to his parents.

At this time, I seem to be the only genealogist that still has Jaime Holcombe's claim as Alonso's possible parents. There must be some evidence that Alonso's parents are Andres Perez and Maria Torillo other than that the two surnames conveniently combine to make Alonso's surname. I hope someone would just show me the evidence for these claims so that the identification is finally settled.

Thank you,
Rick A. Ricci

"RESERVED” church ledger or register?

We’ve run into a challenge I’ve never encountered before. Does anyone have experience finding records from a “RESERVED” church ledger?

I’m helping a cousin research a possible mutual relative, Maria Guadalupe Romo, born 12 Dec 1893, daughter of Margarita Pedroza and an unknown assailant.

We have a civil registration in Encarnación de Díaz, Jalisco dated 13 Dec 1893, for a Maria Guadalupe, no surname or parents listed. Her mother was from this area. The other hint that we’ve found the right record is that a corresponding baptismal record 14 Dec 1893 mentions that the names of the parents and grandparents are listed in the "reserved book." I suppose a child born of a criminal act might qualify for this kind of confidential treatment.

Can someone advise how we might to get information from the reserved book? Does anyone have historical contacts in Encarnación de Díaz that might assist?

This research is for an elderly aunt who is getting up in her years. We would really like to help her shed more light on her family history, including this ancestor, her grandmother.

Replies here or to myclue4u@mac.com are greatly appreciated.

Mariano OLIVARES & Mariaia Catarina de Avalos

I need help. I am looking for the marriage dispensation of Mariano Olivares and Maria Catarina de Avalos.

While searching on the internet I found:

0404 mariano olivares & catariba avalos / san juan ... 0708 mariano jimenez de sandi & juana maria ... 1085 #698 juan jose hernandez & maria catarina ...]

I can't find "0404 Mariano Olivares & Catariba Avalos." They were most likely married in the 1780's as their daughter Maria Gertrudis Olibares Avalos was baptized 27 Nov 1787 according to the following record:

Name Maria Gertrudis Olibares Abalos
Gender Female
Christening Date 27 Nov 1787
Christening Place SAN JUAN DE LOS LAGOS,JALISCO,MEXICO
Father's Name Mariano Olibares
Mother's Name Maria Catarina De Abalos
Citing this Record
"México bautismos, 1560-1950," database, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NVRZ-7FF : 2 January 2015), Maria Catarina De Abalos in entry for Maria Gertrudis Olibares Abalos, 27 Nov 1787; citing SAN JUAN DE LOS LAGOS,JALISCO,MEXICO, reference ; FHL microfilm 220,648

I am also looking for the marriage dispensation of Jose Flores and Maria Guadalupe Flores, (also from San Juan de Los Lagos).

Thank you,

Interpreting DOB from Baptism Record: "de xxxxxx dias de nacido"

Is there a more likely interpretation of the date of birth when a baptism record describes an infant's as as "de xxxxx dias de nacido"? xxxxx is a number, siete, quatro, un, etc. I'd like to calculate DOB, but might be wrong by a day if my assumption is wrong. So, generally, was a child "de un dia de nacido" born today or yesterday?

Gracias,
