Hello Daniel! I had been wondering about Quezada surname in your rootsweb database, what was your source? ´Cause it brings out my curiosity that in this, my era, I always knew my last name is Leon, then about three years ago I found out about the Cos or Coss from my research in films, and then and last I met the Quezada added to Coss Y Leon in your data. So, what is the source?

A few days ago I sent the attached information to Gloria Fuentes and (I thought) to Nuestros Ranchos;  but I have not seen it posted with the rest of the correspondence, and I don't think Gloria got it either;  so I'm re-sending it.  Hopefully this time I have the right   address(es) and it gets posted in the general correspondence.

Last time I went to Jalisco was probably in the late '70's, and I wasn't at all interested in genealogy then. However, it really registered with me that when we went to Ostotan, a lot of the residents came out to greet us, and a lot of them were our relatives!   I've been wanting to go back ever since, but life got in the way...  
 
Let me know if any names look familiar.... I really hope we can make a connection!...

Amelia, I have the civil records from Jalpa from 1887 - 1895. I am almost
done with them. Where do you live? Perhaps instead of returning them, if you
live close by, LDS will allow me to forward them to a LDS center near you.
For some reason, from 1891 and forward, for the most part, it lists grandparents
names but from 1860 to 1890 it does not. Or, let me know what year you are
looking for and I'll try to find it and forward you a copy.

What I said was, "I find some of those stories coming from Sombrerete, Zacatecas, and now Lester thinks it came from Coahuila. You say the story came from Lagos in Jalisco".

I didn't say you said Thomas was from Coahuila, just that the story also came from there. The Edison descendant said he wouldn't care if Thomas was born in Mexico if he was, but he knows he wasn't. Why should it be proved otherwise?

Ygnacia de Leon is my 5th Great Grandaunt twice (both of her brothers, Francisco Xavier and Bartholome, are my 5th Great Grandfathers) and she is also my 6th Grandmother (equal to her father, Manuel de Leon, who is also my 6th Grandfather twice via Francisco Xavier and Bartholome, and who is also my 7th Great Grandfather via Ygnacia) !!

Both Francisco Xavier de Leon and his brother Bartholome are 2nd Great Grandfathers of my Grandfather Nicolas de Leon whose wife Refugio Covarrubias (my Grandmother) has Ygnacia de Leon as her 3rd Great Grandmother!

Above is a link to my husband's family tree that I have on WorldConnect. There is a Villalobos in there too.

My husband's name is Antonio Carlos Garcia Acosta. His father was Enrique Garcia Hinojosa, and his grandfather was Simon Garcia Ornelas. Simon was also descended from the Morones, Ornelas, Gonzalez, Calzada, Magdaleno, Perez, Villalobos on his father's side.

My husband's grandmother, wife of Simon, was Marciana Cervantes. Her father was Jose Ysac Cervantes, and her mother was Maria Castula Aguirre. Marciana was also descended from de Allon, Rubalcaba, Marin, Martin, Duron, Narvaes, Gonzales, and Chaves.

I found Thomas Alva Edison on the 1860 census for Port Huron, St. Clair County, Michigan:

Samuel Edison age 55 farmer born in N.Scotia
Nancy age 51 born in N. Y.
Alvah age 13 newsboy born in Ohio

It doesn't seem he was known as Thomas Alva until later in life. Here he is listed only as "Alvah" the first name he used then he was a newsboy in Port Huron, Michigan.

My name is Amelia Macias. I'm trying to get information on relatives on my father's side of the family. At this time, I have very little information to go on, but hope that as I research chruch records, and known relatives that I may be able to supply information in more detail.

My father, Jose Jesus Tostado Macias was born in Jalpa, Zacatecas in 1923. He has siblings by the names of Antonio (died in Aguascalientes), Angel (no info but presume he was born in Jalpa), Socorro born in Jalpa and died there at age 32 or so. my father Jose Jesus and the youngest, Jovita born in Jalpa ( 10 April 1931 (married Andres Marin also from Jalpa, were married in Jalpa).

My grandfather was Jose Macias born about 1860 - 1880 in Jalpa. Grandmother's last name was Tostado, first name unknown also birthdate unknown, but believe she died in 1960 in Jalpa. May have been married between 1900 - 1910 and I assume in Jalpa as well.

My father believes that my Tio Antonio's family (wife Socorro he thinks) and their children still live in Jalpa.

If you have any information about the Macias' of Jalpa, Zacatecas, please feel free to contact me. I will post more info as I acquire it. If at all possible, please write in English, but Spanish is OK too.

Hola Members Y Primos, I have searching for Vicente Hermosillo . I looked in San Juan de Los Lagos and Lagos de Moreno matrimonios around 1740 to 1760 ( can't remember)any way no dice. I figured around 1755 because of son Juan de La Trinidad Hermosillo birth. Vicente Hermosillo married Maria Inez de La Trinidad Martin de Padilla daughter of Miguel Geronimo Geronimo Martin del Campo and Josefa Padilla Davila born on 05 may 1726 ,San Juan de Los Lagos. Could some one look up in La Sagrada Mitra to see if Vicente Hermosillo and Maria Inez De La Trinidad Martin De Padilla Marriage
is in there,hoping to give a lead on Vicente Hermosillo's parents ect.

A while ago you mentioned a book by Martha Duron Jimenez.

I am wondering if you know of a book of hers that lists her Duron ancestors.

One of my husband's lines are the Durons of Aguascalientes.

In his lines are also those surnames you mentioned were in her book "Familias Endogamicas en Saltillo y Los Altos de Jalisco", the Gonzalez, Martin, Munos, Perez, etc., but right now I would like to know more about the Durons of Aguascalientes.

Just wondering if anyone else had seen the documentary, "Calavera Highway", a 'Point of View' (POV) documentary that aired on PBS (I saw it last night, Sep 16), but others may have seen it the night before last. This is not a genealogical story, but it is a family history story. The following is a brief description of the documentary:

"Brothers Armando and Carlos go on a road trip to reunite their siblings, and return their mother's ashes to South Texas. Their journey takes them across the American west and central past, and they probe not only Rosa's life, but their own struggles to find identities as men and as fathers."
