Dentro de mi investigación por la rama de los Garibay he llegado a un punto donde no he podido ir mas allá.

Espero y alguien pueda tener alguna dato o información del siguiente enlace matrimonio.

(Hijo)-Francisco Garibay Gutierrez(nacido probablemente en 1804 en Zamora) casado con Maria Rosalia Garibay Estevez de la Mora (nacida en Cuquio alrededor de 1810)

De ahí para bajo tengo completada la descendencia pero no encuentro nada hacia arriba, las únicas pistas del nombre de los padres (Rafael Garibay casado do Maria Ygnacia Gutierrez) es por el registro de matrimonio entre Francisco Garibay Gutierrez y Rosalia Estevez de la Mora los cuales se casaron en Guadalajara 12 de Julio de 1827

Ya he buscado en los registros de bautizo (familysearch) de Zamora desde 1800 hasta 1806 y nada.

Estoy buscando la fuente documental para conectar a Mariana de Quero (esposa de Gabriel Gonzalez) con Sebastian de (a)Quero y Ana (Isabel) Rojas (matrimonio 6-Nov 1619 Zacatecas, Zac). Ya encontre varios arboles en linea que indican que Mariana era hija de Sebastian; pero desgraciadamente ninguno de ellos indica la fuente documental que se utilizo para indicar que Mariana era hija de Sebastian.

Phelipe Marquez de los Olivos and his wife Francisca Xaviera Sanchez are the ancestors of many families associated with Colotlan. I have had trouble tracing any solid ancestry for them, but I have accumulated some possibilities. I am hoping that by presenting them here, other researchers may be able to present other sources that may help confirm or refute these possibilities.

Phelipe Marquez de los Olivos’s father was a Joseph Marquez de los Olivos as shown by the following dispensa:

Does anyone know how to look up the original “órden sacerdotal” document that Holcombe refers to here?

I know nothing more about Bartolome Sanchez and Josepha Cabanas, but a marriage record of Joseph Marquez de los Olivos and Gertrudis Rincon does exist as found here:

It shows that Joseph Marquez de los Olivos was a natural son of Capitan Miguel Marquez de los Olivos and Luisa de Figueroa. Apart from his natural son, Capitan Miguel Marquez de los Olivos was legitimately married to Maria Rincon widow of Capitan Joseph Martin Gallardo.

This is confirmed in the book:
La hacienda "Ciénega de Mata" de los Rincón Gallardo: un modelo excepcional de latifundio novohispano durante los siglos XVII y XVIII, by José Fernando Alcaide Aguilar, 2004.
Pages 66, 226, and 470.

An interesting note on page 470: footnote number 488 at the bottom of the page shows Capitan Miguel Marquez de los Olivos becoming Alguacil Mayor de Juchipila and mentions him as the brother of a Diego Marquez de los Olivos. The record that footnote number 488 is referring to can be referenced at:

The problem is that I am not able to find where it mentions Diego Marquez de los Olivos.

In any event, the only Diego Marquez de los Olivos that I know of who fits this time period would be the Diego Marquez de los Olivos (1617-1672) who was the son of a Joseph Marquez de los Olivos and a Maria de Ornelas. Could this also mean that Capitan Miguel Marquez de los Olivos is their son?

Holcombe only offers one clue to the parentage of Capitan Miguel Marquez de los Olivos
In Holcombe’s letters page 174-175:

“He [referring to Capitan Miguel Márquez de los Olivos] was from Juchipila or Jalpa and a natural son of Captain X Márquez de los Olivos -- don’t recall the details.”

I wish he had recalled the details and I wish I knew what source he extracted this information from. Could this mean that (Capitan?) Joseph Marquez de los Olivos married Maria de Ornelas and had Diego Marquez de los Olivos, but also had a natural son Capitan Miguel Marquez de los Olivos. Has anyone seen evidence of Joseph (husband of Maria de Ornelas) ever being a “Capitan”?

Anything further back becomes extremely sketchy. Holcombe only offers two possibilities to the parentage of Joseph Marquez de los Olivos (husband of Maria de Ornelas):

1. Holcombe’s letters Page 91:
“In the same volume of marriages from the Sagrario(Cathedral) parish in Mexico City (not microfilmed) … is this matrimony:

Entry No. 140: 2 July 1570. Joseph Márquez, a son of Joseph Márquez and Luisa de Acosta, and María de Lerma, daughter of Diego Hurtado and María de Lerma.. “Testigos fueron el Sr. canónigo García Machuca, sedero y Cristóbal Rodríguez Proaño.” Could be the parents of you know-who [referring to Joseph Marquez de los Olivos (husband of Maria de Ornelas)]. Suggest you see if pasajeros a Indias data for the parents of both is in the digests and look for christenings of the married couple’s children in the Sagrario, to see if they had a son Joseph (he’d be the third in a row). [If] … not in the Sagrario, try the Santa Veracruz parish.”

I'm trying to find the parents of Petrona de Sotomayor, the wife of
Bernardo Garcia de Leon, does anyone in the group know if Petrona de
Sotomayor that married Alvaro Marin de Peñalosa is the same Petrona de

I was reading the letters that Armando shared in the Dropbox and came across this part about the 1610 Census that talks about a María Rubio that married a Mr. Burgueño and then on number 6. it says a no name daughter married Diego Pérez and i wanted to know since the letters were wrote a long time ago if the no name daughter is now known because i think these people are probably the ancestors of my ancestor Sebastián Pérez who has a sister name María Burgueño

The 1610 Lagos Census brings forth additional information on the López Ramírez and Macías Valadés lines. The three witnesses that name the inhabitants cite “María Rubio, viuda, sus yernos (sons-in-law) Luis López, Diego Pérez, Bartolomé Martín y Juan López de Liçardi; su hijo de más de 17 años, Francisco González.”
María Rubio married a Mr. Burgueño and these were her now known offspring:
3. María Burgueño, married to Juan López de Elizalde y Becerra, a son of Juan López de Elizalde y Aberruza and Leonor Becerra y Sánchez de Mendoza. She died in Lagos 12 Dec 1638.
4. Catalina Rubio married Luis López Ramírez, whom you know.
5. Ana Burgueño wed Bartolomé Martín. Have a christening on their child 27 Mar 1619.
6. A daughter N.N. married Diego Pérez, who died 12 July 1629. A son, Juan Pérez, is named.
7. Francisco González, born c. 1592.

These films, according to the Family Search catalog, cover 1731-32, 1733-34, and 1735-36 respectively. However, film 299574 also includes the matrimonial investigations for the period 1735-58; this later group is primarily for indians.

The pdf is searchable, but please keep in mind the typical spelling variations of the period.

The matrimonial investigations are not in chronological order, but are presented in the order they are given in the digitized films.

These films were re-posted while I was creating the index. I believe I've corrected all the image numbers, but if you cannot find a particular digitized image look a few pages past the indicated image number.

I know I have seen references to those families from Los Altos that are known to have Jewish roots, but am having difficulty locating them in the archives. Would someone please assist me?

My father's ftdna population finder shows him as 31% Middle Eastern (Jewish,Palestinian, Bedouin). He has some family finder distant matches with people with only Jewish surnames and Eastern European roots. I'm wondering if anyone else in the group is having the same experience?

I was also stunned to notice that one of the matches is also a distant match for my husband, who is of Eastern European Jewish ancestry. (We suspect, based on my husband's ydna matches, that that line might have been part of the exodus from Iberia during the Expulsion of 1492.)

Does anyone have more info on him or descend from this family. His was the son of the proignitor of the anda Surname in los Altos. I dont know who his father was though. He was born ca. 1565 en Guadalajara and married to Beatriz Gonzales de Castaneda. I dont have any info on their marriage. Their son Juan de Anda is my 11th Grt Gf. I think this is where it ends but will still try. I was trying to get on PARES website but it wont let me for some reason. Does anyone know more of the ANDA family? -Daniel

I found a marriage dispensation record (023 Benito Guzman & Juana Maria Rodarte / Jerez) in the late 1750s which has some information about Diego Pinedo. My Spanish isn't the greatest, but I think it indicates that Diego Pinedo was married twice as follows:

I can provide the specific dates if anyone is interested.

So I guess it's also pretty clear now that my great grandfather, Nicanor Pinedo, changed the spelling to "Pineda" when he came to Laredo, Texas in the 1920s, perhaps because that's how immigration officials spelled it on on his papers.

My follow up question to Arturo -- or anyone else -- is whether anyone has found a paper trail showing the parents of Juan Anselmo Pinedo. From what I can tell on familysearch.com, it appears that he and Margarita de Acuna had several children, but I've not been able to go back further and find Juan Anselmo Pinedo's parents, in part because it looks lots of Jerez baptism and marriage records are missing.

Can anyone help?

Also, I noticed in a baptism record for Jerez in the early 1740s, there was a reference to the child being from "Puesto de los Pinedos." Has anyone ever heard of this place?

At the top of family search, below the words Family Search, there's five subjects: RECORDS, GENEALOGIES, CATALOG, BOOKS, and WIKI -click on the one that says "CATALOG," then click on "Film/Fiche Number" and enter your number, (in this case) the number 1095309 and hit search. It will then bring you to the parish register where your record is located, in this case it will be: Item 4, Items 1-3: Registros parroquiales, 1800-1929. Click on it and then find your number "1095309" and you'll see that your record is located in Matrimonios 1861-1865. And here is your actual record:

All of the films that come up for Purisima Concepcion de los Angeles in Noria de Angeles have numbers like 1095275. I imagine it is listed somewhere else, but I don't know where. Can someone help?
