Hello, my name is Jenny Tomasello (Olmos) and I'm just beginning my research into my family tree. Unfortunately I do not have much information to go on as my family lost touch with my father when I was about 2 yrs old (adopted); so if anyone has any tips to guide me in the right direction I would be very greatful =)
My father (Steven Andrew Olmos - first born) was born (3 Aug 1950) to Gil Olmos and Juanita Almeyda when Gil was 60 yrs old.
My grandfather, Gil Olmos, was born 1 Sep 1891 in Teocaltiche, Jalisco to parents Juan Olmos and Andrea Aguilera. This information I was able to find on FamilySearch.
Again, I would be extremely greatful if anyone could give me ideas on beginning my search
Thank you!
Jenny

Hello all, I was wondering if any member here has gone through the Bautismo 1796-1851 or the Matrimonios 1806-1871 records for Villanueva. As both records are mixed with other's, and also include the towns and ranches around Villanueva, it has been hard for me to find the exact records for the town of Villanueva itself. In fact, I haven't found many records that say the town of Villanueva, but instead with the names of surrounding ranches instead.
Have I missed the pages where the Villanueva records are located, or is it that those books did not contain records for the town of Villanueva? Any help would be appreciated.
Hello all, my name is Lorenzo Carrillo, I'm from San Diego, ca and am one of the newest members of this site. I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am 16 and have been interested in family researching since I was 12. I'm currently researchin the families : Carrillo, Juarez, rodarte, reveles, Avila, muro, Garcia, sotelo, Ramires, robles, hernandez, finada, Ortega, aristorena, roman, and Estrada. They all are from the state of Zacatecas . I became interested when I came to the realization a few years ago that I could only trace back to my great grandfather ( Lorenzo Carrillo Avila). My fathers side is my primary research from Zacatecas. My mothers side if the family all came from different parts of chihuahua . But, I'm very optimistic that I'll be able to unveil the truth of our roots from bothsides. People are often amazed at my age and all the work I do, but it's something valuable to me and my family and an activity I love to do.well I'm really looking forward to working with all of you in the near future , god bless and thank you for the opportunity to join this group. Sincerely , Lorenzo Carrillo .
Hello!
I have just updated to the Lopez family tree with information I found from the 1930 Census
I think this link would be really helpful.

Hi there,
my dad got tested an i have the results, but we dont really know what it means, i think he was told that it was western european and we had a n irish hit, which was a surprise.
I am not sure about all the information they Family tree has sent him, as he is old, hard of hearing, not exactly masterful on the computer and just a somewhat silly old man.
Wondering if anyone can help me out that may know what haplogroup the following belongs to and if anyone else on here is close etc.

I am seeking information regarding my maternal 4th great grandparents, Francisco Pena and Maria Alvina de Villalpando. They were married on 19 Feb 1785 in Teocaltiche, Jalisco. They had 7 children. Maria Alvina's parents were JUan Manuel Villalpando and Gertrudis Soto.
Hello and Saludos cordiales, my name is Lance Gonzalez and thank you for
allowing me to be a new member. I live in the area of Riverside, California
and am researching the maternal side of my father's family: The names of
Garcia Serratos Hernandez and Gutierrez are from Jalisco and later lived in
Zacatecas.
My great-grandfather Apolonio Garcia Serratos was said to be born in
Jalostotitlan Around 1872, although I could not find him in the church
registers of Jalos.
My Grandmother Agripina Garcia Hernandez was born in Acatic, Jalisco on the
23 of June 1907. The godparents "padrinos" listed on baptism were Abraham
Gonzalez, and Maria Rutila Gonzalez; brother & Sister, Don Abraham was later
the president of Acatic and a senator of Jalisco.
Agripina's older siblings:
Rafael Garcia born around 1902, Agustina Garcia Around 1905, he was said to
be a Lawyer Virginia Garcia, Around 1906, and Beatriz 29 July 1904, were
said to be born in Acatic also although I have not confirmed this. The
younger siblings" Salvador Garcia,Born 3 Mar 1916, Rebecca Garcia, around
1918 and Demetrio 1920 and they were born in either Fresnillo (Where
Agripina Garcia) attended the"Universidad de Autonoma").
On a side I made an earlier post to the "Research Forum" and I thought I had
made a post to the "History, culture and general discussion forum" Sorry I
am still learning my way around.
Does anyone know of a good reference on genetic testing for genealogy and for population migrations/studies that one does not need to be a geneticist to read?

I hope someone can find this information useful.
Gracias
Anyone know where the parish records of the Estanzuela are? Know if the Mormon church made the filming of the records of this place? For more searching I have not found, only partial records in Mezquital del Oro
Thanks
I've found the phrase, "de la finada" recently in some marriage records and I'm not familiar with the phrase. It typically appears in front of a mother's name when naming parents in a marriage record. Like, "Jose Mendes y la finada Dolores Zamora..." It sounds like a reference to someone being deceased, but I've not previously seen or heard that term so applied and could not get any of the online translators to confirm.
Can anyone tell me if I'm on the right track?
Thanks so much!
Annette
Hello all,
I don't know if any of you have tried the frustrating task of going through the Guadalajara dispensation records? But this is what I have found out so far....the are a mess....go figure. The titles for the years listed are not necessarily correct.
I have found several dispensations on my family lines and some other well known lines. I am currently looking for other family lines and just happen to come across these.
I must say the film that says 1687-1749 is pretty darn good, but in it appears to be 1709-1746 instead. I have not finished going through this film, but took these notes for easy reference.

Dear Group,
I've come across something new to me. I can't find my 7grgrandfather's, Miguel Anaya Villagran aka Villagran Anaya, baptismal/birth information, but on his 1719 informacion matrimonial to Angela Alcantara Navarrete, it says he's an orphan. Does this mean that he was born to padres no conosidos? Then how did he get the compound surnames? I've seen where parents have been named as adoptive parents on marriages, but not here.
Their daughter, Pheliciana Ma Petra Anaya Villagran's baptismal entry doesn't name any grandparents. How would one proceed with this line, or is it just a dead end? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much, Alice Blake
Saludos,
Armando

Looking for any information on Albino Lopez or Antonia Fernandez family in a small village called Labatos in state of Zacatecas Mexico. Her mother's name was Maximina Fernandez (married name). Antonia had an aunt Jesusita Fernandez who was blind. Antonia came to Texas around 1920 but her family remains in Labatos. Are there any archives or church records for that area one can access??
Anyone related to this couple? If so very long IM record at:
* Mexico, Catholic Church Records
* Zacatecas
* Villanueva
* San Judas Tadeo
* Información matrimonial 1742-1745
* Image of 359 of 666
the actual record starts probably 10 pages before.

Hello, my name is Mercedes Chavez Romero and I am attempting to work on my
family tree. I always wanted to do this and I think the time has come to get
serious about it. My family is originally from Jalpa, Zacatecas. I have the
names of up to my great grandparents. I have obtained some information on the
town itself by going to various websites. I intend to go to Jalpa sometime this
year to confirm and obtain more information on my ancestry, as well as,
obtain some history on the town itself. I am also interested in the DNA testing
but am not sure exactly what company to order the kit from. Any information
anyone has on Chavez Romero Salazar Arechiga last names or a reputable DNA
testing company would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mercedes Chavez
